Nietzsche, "God is dead."

Apparently, Osho continued Hubbard's research into GPM phenomena. Here he is talking about the phenomena of opposites:

"The problem is that if God is dead, then you lose the most important word in your language and you will need a substitute. God was one end, one extreme, and when one extreme disappears from your mental vision, the necessary and inevitable is that you will fall to the other extreme."

Then just like Hubbard, Osho abandoned the GPM research slipping right into a dissertation on study tech.

"Instead of God, `fuck' has become the most important word in our language. Even if Friedrich Nietzsche comes back, he will be surprised and he will try to resurrect somehow the dead God, because this is stupid. But you will need a whole report on it, a whole research."

Here is that report:

P.S. I have found some similarities between Osho and Hubbard, but GPM research was not one of them. :coolwink:

Oh, give it a rest, Svetka. Check out her own web page and count the number of times Hubbard or Dianetics or Scientology or Auditor appear there. You'll find that the individual and cumulative totals are both precisely zero. And this on a site that talks about ethics and integrity. That was my point, I made it, perhaps a little too stridently for some, but I've done it now, so lets move on.

Tell me, how many of the free-zone e-meters carry the FDA advisory and how many free-zone auditors comply with the requirement that any users, recipients, distributers, and purchasers sign the document as stated:
"The device should bear a prominent, clearly visible notice warning that any person using it for auditing or counseling of any kind is forbidden by law to represent that there is any medical or scientific basis for believing or asserting that the device is useful in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any disease. It should be noted in the warning that the device has been condemned by a United States District court for misrepresentation and misbranding under the Food and Drug laws, that use is permitted only as part of religious activity, and that the E-meter is not medically or scientifically capable of improving the health or bodily functions of anyone.......each user, purchaser, and distributee of the E-meter shall sign a written statement that he has read such a warning and understands its contents and such statements shall be preserved" (United States of America, Libelant, v. An Article or Device... "Hubbard Electrometer" or "Hubbard E-Meter" etc., Founding Church of Scientology et al., Claimants, No. D.C. 1-63, United States District Court, District of Columbia, July 30, 1971 (333 F. Supp. 357).

Some hazards of message boards!

And the very same to you, EP.

While I do try not to be "knee jerk" or poorly read when I make the occasional post, upon review I'm gonna "eat crow" here and make some modifications to the earlier post that Infinite is referring to.

I offer the following words of Robert Louis Stevenson as being better said than any words I might originate.

Mike

"To explain in words takes time and a just and patient hearing; and in the critical epochs of a close relation, patience and justice are not qualities on which we can rely. But the look or the gesture explains things in a breath; they tell their message without ambiguity; unlike speech, they cannot stumble, by the way, on a reproach or an allusion that should steel your friend against the truth; and then they have a higher authority, for they are the direct expression of the heart, not yet transmitted through the unfaithful and sophisticating brain. Not long ago I wrote a letter to a friend which came near involving us in quarrel; but we met, and in personal talk I repeated the worst of what I had written, and added worse to that; and with the commentary of the body it seemed not unfriendly either to hear or say. Indeed, letters are in vain for the purposes of intimacy; an absence is a dead break in the relation; yet two who know each other fully and are bent on perpetuity in love, may so preserve the attitude of their affections that they may meet on the same terms as they had parted."

There are at least seven explicit references to Hubbard on that one page, not counting numerous other references to organizations openly associated with Hubbard. More to the point, the terms you cite are all trademarks of the RTC. Accordingly given the litigious & persecutorial history of the church freezoners are duly cautious about the unwarranted use of such marks. An honest "critic" would recognize that fact as patently obvious. :eyeroll:

The FDA required that label be placed on all church built "Hubbard E-meters" due to the churches prior history of making inappropriate medical claims about the effectiveness of auditing & the importance of the emeter to that process. Accordingly, any church built meters owned by freezoners possess that mark.

The FDA ruling does not apply to galvanic skin resistance meters built by others and which are not marketed as devices intended for medical treatment. Any intelligent person would realize that. :eyeroll:

FWIW, typically freezoners do not make medical claims which violate FDA guidelines, so the ruling can not be said to apply to them seeing as they were neither party to it, nor do they infringe it.

Unfortunately, Mike, Stevenson's remarks presume that both parties are individuals of goodwill seeking to engage in honest discussion and only misinterpreting each other as a result of mutual & unfortunate misapprehensions.

Got it.

Thanks for the above, mark. I appreciate it.

In truth, I dashed off the post I referred to in haste, before I had my first cup of coffee and without any research or much thought.

So perhaps I was "off base" and just being reactionary.

It costs me nothing to apologize for any insults, real or imagined.

I often use quotes from "Truth of Intercourse" in interactions primarily because it is so eloquently and beautifully stated that only a total misanthrope could help but be moved by it. :coolwink:

"By their actions, ye shall know them."

If you just read a sampling of Blip's / Infinite's posts, you'll see that he's quick to criticize and also quick to be a good samaritan. I wasn't born Jesus Christ, I've had my share awkward words. Just take a step back, and treat him as you would a friend. He is a good guy. Stop with the rock throwing.

Not nearly as so as I. :coolwink:

Speaking for those among us who qualify as 'Total Misanthropes', even we very much appreciate the cited aphorism and find ourselves moved as well as motivated by it. Unfortunately, it serves all to often as an 'objective basis' for our resultant misanthropy. :melodramatic:

For your enjoyment here is something a bit more to the 'uplifting' aspects of human intercourse. It might even be said to characterize the positive aspects of our experiences varied experiences, both within the church and here on esmb. :)

On the otherhand, YOU make an honest attempt to understand other viewpoints and seriously consider what options are available before choosing to engage in rock throwing.

But then, with regard to people, you are also a "high arc" kind of guy. In my case that's never exactly been my "strong suit". :D

Oh, dear, are you still stuck in this incident too. Its *this* page, Mark: http://highintegrityliving.com/ - set up as a promotion for us dumb wogs who don't understand the definition of Ethics has been changed to mean, in short, "getting the tech in". Also, listen here at 1:30 when a FreeZoner talks about tricking people into participating in the spiritual rites of Scientology.

Its quite obviously a deliberate tactic which, ironically has been acknowledged by Svetka. Earlier she said Mary's site was talking to a different audience, she later said, something like, "why should people not get the benefits just because Scientology has a bad name". If people have informed consent and still want to go ahead, no problems. But, seriously dude, would you call tricking people ethical? Your sly ad hom in relation to the "honest critic" is a logical fallacy, informally known as "the true Scotsman". You're going to have to pick up your argument skills if you're at all interested in actual debate.

How can the FreeZone be offering "standrd tech" when, as you claim, the e-meters are quite different machines? Is the "standard tech" a lie - or am I not intelligent enough to understand? Also, its demonstrably false to say the FreeZone doesn't claim health benefits. Here's just one example: http://www.lifeimp.com/ - count how many claims there are about health improvements and let me know. I count six but I haven't been through the entire site. The most disgusting thing about the site is its health claims in relation to children. Tasty fresh meat them youngsters, eh? And all under the mask of Pastoral Counselling:
We are pastoral counselors. Pastoral counseling is a branch of counseling in which ordained ministers, rabbis, priests and others provide therapy services. The therapists integrate modern psychological thought and method with traditional religious training.

. . . now, who was it asking for a reference to the Scientology and religion?

So, there you have it: time, form and event from me, a semantic samba from you.

I know its only silly dumb wog law but, for various reasons, we take it quite seriously. The FreeZone would do well to bear that in mind if it is seeking affinity with society. Also, LEAVE OUR CHILDREN ALONE!!

There is nothing in the Warren's website which violates the law or attempts to hide what they profess. If you have a difficulty take it up with them (... and leave us blessedly at peace :eyeroll:).

And remember, it is CO who sees the "good samaritan" in you. Frankly, I don't see it ...

... although I will concede that you likely MEAN well enough. :melodramatic:

Hardly, 'Sammy'. I was delivering 'left-handed compliments' LOOOOONNNNNGGGG before I ever heard of scientology, and as to education & training, I owe very little to my involvement with scientology. :D

In your case, however, scientology appears to be your sole "raison d'etre". :eyeroll:

I remember this playing during my last stay at Flag. I had this terrible crush on Guy Eltringham who was on loan from AOLA to audit NOTS while in cramming there. I sat outside the HGC poolside every day for a couple of weeks and watched him go by with this PC from Chicago that was way cute. I'd sigh. And then I'd be humming Sheena Easton's other song "You Could Have Been With Me". I was so vain. That was 1981.
