Part and parcel to the facts and theories we lay out, are the interactions among the contributors.

If you have a Ted post section, that won't do the Apollo thread justice.

It needs to be topic oriented, so that the exact give and take of all the participants is on display. This would include the acknowledgements too. What people like is we are a live discussion group, not cold dead tech bulletins.

and we'll need pictures and youtube videos to make the comments more real. Over the years, I've disposed of pics, but I can find them and partially recreate the ones that I did.

Bump!

Lakey,

Re: Shooting Stars, Thank you…I appreciate your interest and comments.

Re: The Apollo Thread…I agree with Carmelo that any synthesis of the posts here should be taken in Dialogue Context. The Socratic Method is often misunderstood as question and answer—which is from Socrates Dialogue with Meno and Socrates’ question and answer session with Meno’s slave, showing that we have lived before and already have knowledge and understanding we don’t know we have. The Classical definition of the Socratic Method is open Dialogue of viewpoints and ideas and that’s what, to me, makes this thread so valuable and worthwhile to read.

The trip back from Cupertino, I meet Candy's daughter!

Candy had an important piece of mail to deliver to her daughter, living in Ventura Country, CA. Candy had met my 23 year old daughter at my birthday party, last December, and now, I was looking forward to meeting her 26 year old daughter. Some day I hope those two meet!!

Candy's daughter is a very sweet and thoughtful person, extremely mindful of other people's feelings and never wanting to hurt another person. When it comes to animals, she is even more sensitive to their feelings than with people. She is a free spirit!

She has a quick mind and thinks deeply very rapidly. She and I share many traits and basic motivations.

Here is a picture of her and I "putting up our dukes" in a mock fight staged about 30 minutes after we met.

Good outcome of trip!

Face and Hats - Fear no more about the contents of the Apollo '73 thread. I just returned from a 4 day trip up to northern California with Purple Haze. We stayed at Tatiana's home. She has a fantastic website set up and told me to cull the Apollo thread and tag all the posts which I think are memorable and merely supply her with a list of categories and the links to the post under their appropriate category and she will permanently store them on her site and link them to other related website on the internet.

As far as topics go, we can go by the Name of a particular poster, a broad title such as "Tech" or more specific types of techs such as LRH tech of the 1950's or Alan Walter's Tech, Captain Bill Robertson Tech, Freudian Tech, Psychology Tech or whatever particular techs we have discussed. We can have light hearted categories such as our discussions of automobiles and airplanes, we can have aesthetic categories such as music - Rock, music -Show tunes, Music - Classical, Music - Country, etc. We can have photo albums, our favorite top 10 lists are any number of things.

If people want to assist me on the suggesting of setting up their favorite categories, they are more than welcome to do so and the same goes for their favorite posts. We have over 10,700 replies at this time, certainly at least 1,000 are worthy of being catgegorized and preserved, perhaps 2,000 are worthy enough to merit this.
Lakey

Yeah! Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!!! Like a book in another form...I'm glad such great insights and fun writing will live on for others to see, enjoy, and learn from. Hooray!!! :D

Lakey, sounds to me like your life is blossoming a little more and more all the time! Good for you! :)

How about "Scientology Old Times and Now".....or "Scientology Old Times vs. Now".....since you are discussing both how it was back then as well as the new stuff happening now?

Nice looking group!

Face - I just read Shooting Stars, Part 6 and it was a terrific read, very informative and entertaining.

MORE ON THE TRIP NORTH TO CUPERTINO

NOTE: Tatania's website where the best of Apollo '73 will be linked is called "THE SCIENTOLOGY FORUM" and is already up and running and has an enormous amount of interesting and informative content, including photos and video interviews. It is amazing how much work Tatiana has put in on this and how all encompassing this website is and how much more it will encompass when more and more venues such as this one are linked to it. I suggest everyone check out this website and contribute to it.

Cancelled and Uncancelled
On the 18th, just as we were set to leave L.A., Carmelo called and suggested that Candy and I postpone the trip due to extremely heavy storms up North. We agreed to do so and called to inform Tatiana. She pleaded with us to come anyway since all of her guests were told we would be there. We decided that by taking the inland route rather than the coastal, we would be able to avoid most of the rains, we did so and that worked out for us....almost no rain all the way there!

The first day, Tatiana made videos, 8 of Candy and 2 of me. Candy and I administered the Personal Capacity Analysis questions to both Tatiana and her husband.

On day 2, we visited with my first cousin Burt and his lady friend, Suzanne. Burt lives up in Palo Alto area and drove down to Cupertino for brunch with us. We had a delightful time. I graded and graphed the PCA's we had taken the previous day from Tatiana and her husband. Around 6:00 PM, the guests started arriving. All guests were either Russians or veteran auditors or both.

A graduation was held for their Independent Scio Mission in the Cupertino area. Several people had graduated from the basic Div 6 type intro courses which they offer.

We met three of the auditors, in addition to Tatiana. BTW, Tatiana was the first Sea Org Member in Russian, going back to around 1989.

We had the pleasure of meeting Dexter Gelfand and his wife Marina who drove down 2 hours for the event. Also present was a veteran auditor, Dan Koon and last but not least was Mikhail (nicknamed Mischa) who had worked at "Gold" from around 1988 to 2005.

A RECENT TRAIT OF VETERAN EXECS FAR DIFFERENT FROM THE 1970'S
Tatiana, Mischa and also Mark Headly, whose very recent radio interview, we heard on CD while driving up were all veteran ex Sea Org members, working for or at Int Management for from 13 to 17 years.

When you talk to these people, you feel that you should be talking to seasoned veterans who know all about the "tech" and have completed their lower bridges and know all about the upper bridge. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!

None of these people had received any auditing whasoever, except for sec checking or perhaps some short action which was required in their post hatting. None of them had ever completed a Life Repair or had Dianetics run on them or any auditing on the grades. None of them knew anything about the Xenu story or the upper levels. Of course, some people, such as Tatiana in particular had found out much after leaving C of S but for the most part, it appears that today's upper level management are often kids grabbed during their youth who only work long hours for Management without any effort at all being made to get them trained or processed. There is not even any lip service paid to them going up the bridge, except perhaps during recruitment.

Didja ever notice...?

Didja ever notice…?

Back in the olden days, I was destined to live forever. Back in the days of yore, I had time on my hands, attention to cast around, and energy to invest in people and things that I would not invest in today. I was the Fool depicted in Tarot, the Fool represented by zero, the Fool of no experience.

The significance of the Fool Tarot card deals with that youthful exuberance we feel when starting out on a new adventure, or taking a journey of faith. We feel anticipation, butterflies flutter in the stomach, and our skin prickles with excitement for our journey is underway, and we're unstoppable!

However, along with this passion comes impetuousness. The Fool makes no plans, or gives no thought to possible complications along the way. Happy to be doing something different, the Fool blindly sets out where all others may fear to tread.

When contemplating the meaning of the Fool in Tarot, think of Joseph Campbell's remarkable statement: "Follow your bliss." We can see this attitude in this card. This is a wonderful outlook, but we must also note the lack of care about consequences: Blind faith is the Fool's only guide. <tarotteachings.com/fool>

+++

Basic Tarot Story
With all his worldly possessions in one small pack, the Fool travels he knows not where. So filled with visions and daydreams is he, that he doesn't see the cliff he is likely to fall over. At his heel, a small dog harries him (or tries to warn him of a possible mis-step).

Being number zero, the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he needs to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasizing. Watch your step lest you fall, ending up looking the fool.

The Fool represents a time of newness, a time when life has been "re-started" as it were. The person feels that they are back at zero, whether that be in romantic affairs, or career, at their job, or intellectual pursuits. Far from being sad or frustrating, the Querent [Seeker] feels remarkably *free*, light hearted and refreshed, as if being given a second chance. They feel young and energized.

In addition, they likely have no idea where they're going or what they're going to do. But that doesn't matter. For the Fool, the most important thing is to just go out and enjoy the world. To see what there is to see and delight in all of it.

Unfortunately, in this childlike state the person is likely to be overly optimistic or naive. A Fool can be a Fool. This is the card likely to turn up when a Querent [Seeker] is thinking of investing his money in a new, "sure fire" business. Or when the Querent [Seeker] is sure that it's "love this time!" Like the Fool, they're so busy daydreaming of what might be that they're ignoring what is. They're about to fall right off a cliff. It's time for them to listen to that watchful little dog, which might be a concerned friend, a wise tarot reader, or just their instincts.

As a card, the Fool ultimately stands for a new start. When it turns up the Querent [Seeker] might be about to make a move, not just to a new home, but new job, new life. There's more than just change, renewal, and a brand new beginning in the Fool, there's also movement, a fresh, exciting new time. <www.aeclectic.net>

Today I am the Fool of experience having cycled away from zero and back again--only now I am a zero Fool with experience. I have been through the school of hard knocks. I have learned when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to walk away, and when to run. My time, as a natural course of living, is running out. My attention has been honed by experience. I have physical, emotional, and spiritual energy, but I am stingy with its dispersal. Working in business taught me about Return On Investment (ROI).

Didja ever notice that some movies or shows are worth attending, some books are worth reading, some TV is worth viewing, and some not? Didja ever notice that some people are worth listening to, and some are not? Some internet posters are worth reading, some are not. Some people are worth striking up a conversation, and some are not. And so on… Discernment. Discernment precedes a safe investment and maximal ROI. The ROI I seek is simple. If money is involved it must rest on what my old boss used to call psychic income. Money alone is not a good investment. Psychic income is all the things besides money that make a relationship, business or otherwise, worth the investment of time, energy, effort, attention, and so on. This is what the Fool has learnt. Carmelo understands this.

That's really all I wanted to say. I simply got carried away with discovering the archetype I was dramatizing when I got started in Scientology--or just about anything else. :omg:

P.S. Most of this post is not my original work. Follow the links above to give credit where credit is due.

Good return on investment expanding your link. I think I've got 5 sets of Tarot Cards from the Spiral Circle bookstore. Never studied how to use em though. So unlike me. Such pretty pictures to look at. I've studied the major and minor arcana but only for the artwork.

I fully agree with your views, Carm, as written above. Also, it was wonderful to get to see you in your own neck of the woods on 3 separate occasions. I'm happy you guys caught my idea of saving this thread and ran with it. :happydance:

Looking forward to our return the first weekend in March. Workshop is in formative stages...

Lakey

Last Saturday night in Cupertino, California was an eye opening gathering for me.

so many niche groups.

There were the auditors, who had been around the block (a time or two), Candy, Dan , Dexter, myself.

There were the ESMBers, Gary, Marina, Candy, Dexter, me.

There were the auditing / training doers in present time (either flow), Candy, Dan, Dexter, me, Gary, Tatianna, Segei, Michael

There were the ex Int / Gold / Over the Rainbow folk, Dan, Michael

There were the Russians (too many names I can never spell)

and their friends who lived down the street from FCDC

In my mind, I’m still 21, with no accomplishments that I have great pride in. I was Clear, an auditor, a cool circle of friends, with a GREAT girlfriend.

I was just having a good time.

I was definitely having a good time.

move forward 39 years.

I’m still having a good time.

Here, at this house, are some people who worked their butt off for Scientology, and never got the goodies.

I can’t (even in my wildest dreams) say I ever worked my butt off for Scientology. That was never in the cards.

The hardest I ever worked was always at play.

Whether climbing rocks in the Minarets, the Sierras, or any number of places.

Whether dropping down 110 feet under water and petting a moray eel off Oahu.

Spending weeks in bed with my girlfriend, only getting up to eat, go to the bathroom, bathe, and shop for food.

Most of my work work has been play too. It is fun auditing. It is fun rehabbing a house or office. It’s fun fixing a tractor, picking cots and cherries. It’s fun taking care of business.

I take the auditing that I had in the 60s and 70s for granted. I cherish Clear, but I don’t spend any time thinking about it.

39 years later from when I was 21, there are still people who worked their tail off for Scientology, and never got the goodies.

some folk are doing something about that. I’d like to contribute too.
