I do not know what Clinton said. Whatever it was, it will shift slightly as the composition of his audience changes.
But, I do agree with the points I highlighted in red.
Roger,
I've been pondering an answer to you for days.
I just can't get my head around the right context for a reply.
As I've mentioned before, too many times, I walked precincts for Barry Goldwater in 1963-64, at age 13. My libertarian views are undimmed.
On the other hand, politics is the art of the possible (Bismarck). When Bill Clinton was in office, and the Republicans were trying to "get" him, the government of the Congress and Executive branch virtually went on holiday. They were so enmeshed in the dog fight, that almost no legislation got passed. From my point of view, that is the way it should be. The little and big fiefdoms checkmated. No new laws.
Congress and presidents do not have the concept of live and let live. They all want to put their mark on history. We don't need more laws. We need less busybody congressmen making laws that cost more money, set up new bureaucracies, steal from the producers, etc.
I thought Bill Clinton's observation, to that effect, that the American public wanted this, was SPOT ON.
I do not know what Clinton said. Whatever it was, it will shift slightly as the composition of his audience changes.
But, I do agree with the points I highlighted in red.

Yesterday morning I got up.....no internet.
