Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Before I heard of Scientology, I was accustomed to putting my feet on the wood stove while French toast and coffee were being made (on it). I think the stove came, with my great grandfather, around the "Horn" in 1860. The pantry off the kitchen, was designed to always be chilly. My great grandfather, whose name I bear, built the house. My daughter, when she was two, helped me reroof it. It's a steep roof, and she handed me nails, as I put on a new shingle roof three decades ago. The roof has held up 150 years, and my particular roof is still in good shape.

I believe that when most of us became scientologists we 'handed our hearts in at the door' and in exchange were given a few charts and somebody else's goal.

When I left the cofs and collected my heart it was a bit battered around the edges, pieces were missing completely and it hurt quite a lot when I tried to put it back in place.

What I've learned recently after struggling with it for quite a while is so simple that it's almost shocking ... some people think, some feel and the enlightened do both dependent upon the situation.

There was nothing spiritual about the charts, tone scales and various accoutrements that I was sold in scientology ... they may have their use but IMO if useful at all, it would just be in a sales environment.

I would never change the way I was brought up, i.e.. driving tractors at age three, collecting eggs every day, working in the barn, fixing the tractors and disks, getting the blacksmith forge going with coal, and hammering red hot metal on the anvil.

The cultural undercurrent, so far as I remember, in Scientology, was ALWAYS Domination and Submission. If you were an auditor, you had more prestige. LRH was the top banana. He said things that you were supposed to buy into.

I didn't buy it all from the start.

Before I ran into Scientology, I ran into Alan Watts, Aldous Huxley, D.T. Suzuki, the i Ching, Jean Paul Sartre, to name a few.

Probably the biggest influence wasn't a philosopher or book. There was a rock and roll band from Liverpool, that had an enormous effect on me. I don't think our family ever had a color TV before I moved out, so I must have watched this world wide live event in black and white, but it didn't alter the magic. I used to run to and from high school in my barefeet singing this song to myself.

One night (it is as clear today, as it was then) sitting in my room, I realized that love was the most important thing for me. It has taken me nearly fifty years to refine my definition of love to what I mean today, but that vision of me in relation to others was so large and encompassing, that nothing has ever come close to supplanting it.

When I read that survival was the basic motivation, I thought, "That's bullshit."

I thought Scientology was a developing science, and would catch up to me on that.

When I met John McMaster in 1969, There was a guy, who understood love. That man was the personification of a spiritual being. I didn't have enough tech training under my belt yet, to know he developed the power processes. I just knew he was beautiful. He gave me a look, across a room, that bowled me over with its power and love. My girl friend, standing right next to me, looked at me and said, "What did you do to deserve THAT?" I've never had an answer, but it sure was nice.

As I would never choose, not to have been raised on a working farm, I would never choose not to have done grade 6, the Clearing Course, and the briefing course. Those changed, enhanced, and gave me foundation for this life and many more to come. I have changed many people's lives and loves from those things I learned.

When I was done with the briefing course, I was, once again, hooked up with the girl, who had been my girl friend, when I got involved with Scientology.

She hooked up with me in Los Angeles, while she was married (to the brother of the girl, whose picture is with my paragraph on John McMaster). We kissed in the May Company parking garage, and she went home to Northern California. After a few months of torrid letters, she came back down to LA, we lived together, and then we moved back home to Nor Cal. She would sit in the yard and paint ( she's an artist), while I would go off every day, and fix tractors. It was idyllic.

It wasn't much later, when prices, in Scientology started rising 10% per month. Not being too stupid, I knew who was raising the prices, but not why.

I hadn't any interest in further OT levels (not at all happy with OT3) or the Class Vlll course (I wasn't enamored with "Standard Tech")

It was getting close to the time for my Scientology involvement to end. Greed, as a company policy, wasn't what I wanted to be associated with.

Last night I slept knowing that someone out there with nothing to sell and nothing to gain 'got it' ... and there was not a lecture or a chart in sight.

OH MY GOD!!

I've heard that tune dozens of times, and never heard it. the video made it clear as day.

I listen to country music all the time. That song never particularly caught my attention.

It is terrific.

How interesting strange illuminating (choose one) that seeing the video, makes it 1000 times better for me than just listening. Now i'll hear it, and it will never be the same... ever.

That's an example of how the music video helped the imagination. Most of the videos supply the picture for the listener, and this takes away from the experience--in my estimation.

Nothing like a baseball game on an old AM radio with a great announcer and all the background, white noise of the fans, and the bursts of excitement over the crack of a bat. Anyone who has attended a live game or played can fill in the mental picture. But take that idea down to a music video of unrequited love, or love, or what have you...

I suppose some people need the video to fill in the mental imagery? I dunno. Seems a shame if that last statement is true.

Guess he saw that you were a guy who'd pay it forward. :)

I always watch baseball in my mind's eye, never on TV. Give me radio with Jon Miller, that young kid - Vin Scully, Lon Simmons, Bill King, etc

For anyone, who has ever wondered about my avatar. It is an Oakland A's colored microphone with the classic call of the late Bill King, who announced for the Giants, the Warriors, the Raiders, and the A's.

Once again, the Apollo thread has strayed from its story of a renovated cattle boat carrying fruits and nuts around the world.

How does this happen?

Can't we focus?

Lol.

No.

:coolwink:

I love a lot of the Beatles stuff but I was always a Stones girl ... never Mick, always Keith Richards (the baddest of the bad or at least he appears to be) and he just gets better with age.

:roflmao:

I'll just quietly leave this here and then leave you lovely people to your thread.

I was at the San Jose Civic Auditorium to see them before Satisfaction was even released. I was at Altamont. We followed Keith in backstage the night before the show and staked out great seats.

I'm now going to disappoint you. Keith has been seen, near his home in Connecticut, driving a mini van to deliver and pick up his kid from school. Even the baddest sometimes fall.

bliss, the old fashioned kind

We're packing for a week or two of bliss.

http://www.kirkwood.com/site/mountain/webcam

Our kind of bliss---- snowstorm on the way.

BTW, 600,000 views on this thread

and, my friend, I told you I was trouble, has wandered off to enjoy her life. In her personae on ESMB, she was a firecracker. I already feel her absence, the being behind the personae, that is.

later, dudes and dude-esses

mortgages

BTW,
We're refinancing for the third time in three years. We're cutting our interest from 3.75 fixed at 15 years to 2.8 variable on a 10 year note

there are some super money savers out there if you look, or like us, if your mortgage broker looks (and likes you)

Our mortgage broker was my PC, for her first auditing, when she was 12. She now has kids in college.

If we had been your typical modern day Sci operation, she'd be hating us and writing nasties on the internet. Instead, we've been connected 35 or more years, with good feelings abounding.

She has gone from being our client at the vulnerable age of 12, to having us as clients, 30-40 years later. Mutual trust goes a long way.

For those who criticize the tech, I say, be selective with who you throw stones at. (God, I wish Trouble was here) The squirrels, like me, who care more about the person, not the stat or $$$$, are really actually OK people.

The best examiner is not an F/N VGIs at the examiner. It is a person doing better in life, i.e. more love, more friends, more order, less chaos, advancing on their life path(s).

Fuck the proper (Standard Tech) program, the perfect comm cycle. Get results that help your person be themselves fully. Nothing else is of equal importance.

The best auditors were always squirrels, which is why LRH attacked Jack Horner, John McMaster, etc.

Squirrels do it better.
