Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Since you folks have shown some interest in things economic and political  I post this from my early morning reading.

It has tremendous implications on many fronts. It bears close reading to get a full appreciation of its import.

What is not yet settled are the decisions in response to this from the upcoming meeting of the G20. This below from wiki to explain the G8 versus G20:

The Group of Eight (G8) is a forum for the governments of eight large economies. (It excludes some members of the actual eight largest, such as China, Brazil and India). The forum originated with a 1975 summit hosted by France that brought together representatives of six governments: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, thus leading to the name Group of Six or G6. The summit became known as the Group of Seven or G7 the following year with the addition of Canada. In 1997, Russia was added to group which then became known as the G8.[1] The European Union is represented within the G8 but cannot host or chair summits

The G20 has its own agenda, and its key members earlier this year (or late last year) put together a decisive meeting which specifically excluded the US from invitation. They have set an agenda to dance to their own tune, and there will be an agreement in the G20 upcoming meeting on a course of action by them that will in no way be aligned with what was just set in play at Camp David below.

Here we see again the US Fed printing money out of thin air to give to the bums in Europe . . . I have not read this morning's main stream media, and thus not seen how this nuttiness has been spun.

Last time the Fed gave a $Trillion to Europe to bail out its banks it was disguised as "a currency swap." :melodramatic:

This below is comment on two things: the Camp David G8 meeting (and note: Putin did a little bit of a diplomatic slap in not attending himself but sending someone in his stead); and the comment on NATO.

The following intel came from Harry Schultz this morning: Euro bears be warned. There is more, but this is all I dare post.

Harry remains the main man in gold, currency and economic intel. Bravo to you Harry.

Behind the scenes at the G-8 and NATO summit meetings, some significant decisions were made that will impact over the coming weeks.

The critical decision at the G-8 meeting and several of the bilateral meetings that took place on the sidelines of the Camp David gathering centered on the decision to plunge ahead with the bailout of the European banks in an effort to save the Euro system, with Greece still inside. President Obama is terrified that a financial meltdown of the Euro system will spill over into Wall Street and result in his losing the November elections. Behind the scenes around Camp David, Christine Legarde put the IMF squarely behind a bailout of the European banks, with the full backing of the Federal Reserve and Treasury in the United States to boost the leveraged lending of the European Central Bank (ECB) to prop up the European banks. ECB will take junk bonds and other vastly over-priced assets as collateral for loans to the Spanish, Greek and other European banks. This will offset an additional estimated $500 billion in new write-offs by bondholders of Greek debt.

The bottom line is that if Greece leaves the Euro, the contagion will spread overnight to Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and, perhaps, even Italy. So, the IMF, the Obama Administration and the ECB are all on board to further delay the reality of the financial and banking crisis through hyperinflationary measures. The idea is that the situation will take many months to fully play out, and Obama and his re-election team hope that the system will hold together past the November elections.

In his sideline meeting with new French President Hollande, Obama reached a full agreement on this perpetuation of the Euro. This is an area where Hollande and Merkel will agree to disagree. They both want to defend the Euro, but Hollande will continue to insist that the austerity must be limited and a growth program initiated. This is actually impossible to accomplish, but this is the growing perspective of the Eurosocialists, including Hollande and his colleagues in Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Italian Socialist Party (PSI). A majority of Greek voters are in favor of staying in the Euro, so long as the austerity is reduced.

Hollande will make another effort this week at the European Monetary Union heads of state meeting to push for Eurobonds, as one way to implement this bailout plan. Merkel will likely oppose and block this latest Eurobond argument. The total amount of assets on the books of the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank fall far short of the currently estimated 4 trillion euro liability of the European private banks.

This was the single-most important decision taken at the G-8 meeting, and it was a deeply flawed decision that will have severe consequences. For Obama, the crucial question is: Will the consequences hit before or after the November elections in the United States? This may be the deciding factor in the outcome of those elections.

Russia’s Presence in Camp David and Chicago

On May 14, Russia’s Prime Minister Medvedev delivered a speech at an international law conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, just before departing for Camp David. In his speech, he announced the “Putin Doctrine,” opposing any attempts to use humanitarian intervention pretexts to violate the national sovereignty of any nation. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was seated on the podium behind him when he delivered these remarks. Medvedev went so far as to say that the attempt to carry out humanitarian interventions without the prior full consent of the United Nations Security Council could lead to regional wars, and, ultimately could lead to thermonuclear conflict.

The U.S. government was not surprised at the Medvedev speech, because Russian ambassadors around the world had been instructed to inform the host governments of the new “Putin Doctrine” of the inviolability of national sovereignty and the threat posed to the world order by attempts to violate that principle. Russia would organize resistance to any such efforts.

At a conference in Moscow on May 3, top Russian government officials, including the Chief of the General Staff Makarov, had warned that NATO’s decision to move ahead with the deployment of the European Missile Defense System could also drive Russia to launch pre-emptive attacks on components of the system, during a later stage when it would pose a threat to Russia’s second nuclear strike capabilities.

These two pointed warnings from Russia resonated at both the G-8 and NATO summit meetings, particularly since President Putin had told President Obama in a telephone conversation soon after the Moscow conference that he would not be attending the G-8 meeting, but would be sending Medvedev instead. The location of the G-8 meeting had been changed from Chicago to Camp David, after the cancellation of the NATO-Russia Council meeting, due to the conflict over the missile defense deployment in Europe.

As the result of the stark Russian warnings, there were two concessions made during the G-8 and NATO meetings. The language of the G-8 communique regarding Syria was altered to remove any implicit calls for regime change against the Assad government. At NATO, there was recognition that Russia has objections to the missile defense deployment, and that there will be efforts to reconcile those differences in negotiations that are already underway, between trusted Russian and American intermediaries.

However, another issue came up at the Chicago NATO meeting, at the initiative of David Cameron and with the full support of President Obama, which will emerge as a major controversy on both sides of the Atlantic. In May 2010, British Prime Minister David Cameron ordered a full strategic review of Britain’s military forces and doctrine. A year later, in April 2011, President Obama ordered the same kind of study. At Chicago, Cameron and Obama pushed for a similar NATO assessment study. The purpose is to present the case that NATO must be able to move more swiftly, particularly in cases of humanitarian interventions, without the delay of formal approval by the 28 parliaments of the 28 NATO member countries. In other words, NATO should have its own military assets and should be free to take action without approval of the sovereign parliaments, if the NATO heads of state reach a unanimous agreement.

This is a dangerous erosion of the sovereignty of all NATO countries, and will meet with serious opposition, once the implications of this move are fully understood. There will be serious resistance in the US Congress from both Democrats and Republicans.

This will also come in conflict with the new “Putin Doctrine” of Russia because it is indicative of further NATO “humanitarian interventionism” plans, based on last year’s Libya intervention.

The US on Wednesday opened its banking market to ICBC, China’s biggest bank, for the first time clearing a takeover of a US bank by a Chinese state-controlled company.

Just days after high-level US-China economic talks in Beijing, the Federal Reserve approved an application from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to buy a majority stake in the US subsidiary of Bank of East Asia.

The transaction will make ICBC the first Chinese state-controlled bank to acquire retail bank branches in the United States.

ICBC has been the most aggressive of China’s “big four” banks in expanding overseas.

According to the Fed the bank has total assets of roughly $2.5 trillion.

It will buy up to 80 percent of the US unit of the Hong Kong-based Bank of East Asia, which operates 13 branches in New York and California.

This looks amazing! I've been living in CA since 1977 and I've never heard of it. I think I'll make it a road trip! Have camera, will travel! (not a good camera, not an artsy-fartsy photographer by any stretch of the imagination...)

Thanks for the info!

Reminds me of the very Elite in the movie "Hunger Games" Its beginning...economic slavery and population reduction on a grander scale than in the past.

My Tax man said the Goldman Sachs BofA CitiBanks and Deuche Banks of the world are trading $700Trill in paper derivatives which is more than the worlds GDP. Each bank trading this paper gets a small profit and they churn it back and forth and the small investor looses a little each time in real losses or inflation. Google Fractional Reserve Banking if you havent before. http://www.khanacademy.org/finance-...ney/v/fractional-reserve-banking-commentary-1

Phoney money trying to bring a balance to the worlds economy while some get stinking filthy rich. Rich enough perhaps to hire a personal Army. i.e., OPEC, Pakistan and others.

Thanks for posting this Rog. Remember Terril's post about how it was possible that Obama could pay off the funded debt of the USA with devalued dollars and how this hit me like a bolt of lightning in explaining why Obama is not concerned much with our skyrocketing debt because when the time is ripe he can pay of that debt with drastically weakened dollars. Hats then voiced her opinion that she felt that my theory made sense and that Obama had several financial tricks up his sleeve which he hasn't revealed yet.

If this video is correct, then the three of us, Terril, Hats and myself were on the right track.

Its almost valid to say, "How could it be otherwise?" There are so many out points visible in Obama's behavior. Instead of showing concern about the out of control and upward spiraling debt and taking steps to solve that problem, his only concern about the debt is to immediately raise the debt ceiling when governmnt spending approaches it. The only way his behavior can be explained is if he already has a plan to handle the debt when the time is right.

He can't default on the debt and he can't have the country declare bankruptcy. The only option left to him is devaluing the US currency. All the arguments why this can't be allowed may be logical and well thought out but they have to either be irrelevant or if they are relevant, solutions for these problems have to already be worked out and they already exist "up Obama's sleeve".

If this info became broadly known to the public. Obama would loose the November election for sure so he does what he has to do; he launches a heavy personal attack against his opponent. This serves two main purposes, first taking the spotlight off of himself and what he knows but is withholding and second, dead agenting his opposition. I think Hubbard called this "missed withhold phenomena" but since we can't use anything of Hubbard's here without being attacked and I can't think of any standard English term here to use in its place, I will let that term stand.

One aspect was humour, and his weekly posts sometimes had an item from him intended to be humorous. They varied. Here is one from 1998. That is a long time ago. What he talks about was the Los Angeles orgs and environment, and things were different then. HUMOR: THE IDES OF MARCH

The Loyal Officers hiding in the 4th dimension have
intercepted a film clip which might be of interest,
especially in light of the upcoming March picket.

So they asked me to pass it along.

Have Fun,

The Pilot

------------

Scenes from Shake and Bake's latest box office sensation:

THE TRADGEDY OF DAVIDIUS MISCAVIAGUS

----

Clip #1 -

The 3 Fates of Norse Mythology, known as the Norns appear
shrowded in smoke. Their faces are revealed as the
smoke clears -

Flo Barnett who weaves the thread.

Paulette Cooper who measures it.

And Lisa Macpherson who cuts it.

They sing: "Double, double, toil and trouble,
we'll cut his thread and burst his bubble".

----

Clip #2 -

Miscaviagus is addressing the assembled staff at Helmut.

"Friends, auditors, missionaries, lend me your ears.
I come to bury Hubbard, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is often interred with their bones;
So let it be with Hubbard."

----

Clip #3 -

A great armored limo is pulling up at the Ceders complex.
Uniformed Sea Orgers surrond Miscaviagus as he disembarks
from the vehicle.

Two others in SO uniforms flank the top of the ASHO stairs
and whisper.

1st Sea Orger: "The upstatmobile hath arriven".
2nd Sea Orger: "T'were better dubbed the ratmobile".
1st Sea Orger: "T'were better to speak no harm of Miscaviagus here".

DM pushes in front of the crowd below and begins to mount
the steps.

An old crone with a scarf covered head shambles forth and
shakes her arm at him. DM looks toward her and she pulls
back her scarf.

As the scarf falls away, it is revealed that this is really
Gary Scarf in drag. He anounces loudly "BEWARE THE IDES
OF MARCH". DM begins to shout as Scarf scuttles away.

DM: "Thou hast within thee undivulged crimes,
Unwhipt of justice, hide thee, thou bloody hand".

As he shouts, the 1st Sea Orger whispers to the other:
"Now the hungry lion roars, and the wolf behowls the moon"

----

Clip #4 -

Miscaviagus is walking through the tunnel beneath the
street which links the ASHO and AO basements. He sees
a skull lying against the wall and picks it up and
addresses it.

"Alas poor Yurick, I RPFed him".

Then he laughs gleefully, tosses the skull back to the
ground, and resumes walking.

Suddenly there is a gust of wind and Hubbard's gost
appears.

Gost: "Murder Most Foul!".

DM: "Thou hast within thee undivulged crimes".

Gost: "Get thee to a Zoo".

DM shrikes and runs away down the corridor.

----

Clip #5 -

DM is in the warrens beneath ASHO and a crowd of RPFers
are slinking towards him. One steps forward and says:

"Doth an RPFer not bleed?"

DM: "Thou hast within thee undivulged crimes".

The RPFers shriek and run.

----

Clip #6 -

An army of picketers crowd LRH Way between ASHO and AO.
The great blue buildings tower around them.

A closeup shot of one of the sticks holding a picket
sign reveals that it is stamped "Birnam Lumber Co".

The camera swings to the top of the ASHO steps
where Miscaviagus stands with his chronies.

1st Chronie: "The Prophesy! Birnam wood to the
complex doth come! Alas, all is lost".

DM ignores him and is rubbing his hands as if washing
them. He says "Out Damn Spot" as his chronies gather
around and hustle him inside.

----

Clip #7 -

DM has fled to the complex at Helmut. Crowds are
storming towards the fences. He runs within a
building and enters "The Planetary Control Room".
Soon he is joined by his coven, the 12 who rule
the organization on his behalf.

They file in silently and surround him. They are
Heber and Lesevre. Rinder and Yaeger. Rathburn
and Spurlock. Mithoff and McShane. Lenske and
Harris. Starkey and Schomer.

Miscaviagus looks around with fear in his eyes.
The tension is high. Then he strightens his back and
looks to Ron's picture for a moment. Finally he
turns back to the crowd, hoping to inspire them to
sacrifice on his behalf.

DM: "To Squirrel or not to Squirrel, that is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
and by opposing end them?"

He indicates Ron's picture and begins the traditional
cheer, raising his fist into the air on each word.

DM: "Hip Hip ..."

The 12 then raise their fists, but the fists contain
daggers. They shout "Hurray" and charge Miscaviagus.
He disappears under them and gives a single mornful
cry.

Then the crowd backs away and DM is revealed bleeding
upon the floor. He looks up and utters his last
words:

"Et Tu Rinder?".

---------------------------

The Loyalist Officers have provided this as a public
service. It represents events on a parallel time track
in another universe and may not be representative of
events here on Earth.

A Planetary Control Room was known to exist back in
the late 1960s, but this tradition might not have
carried into modern times within our own universe.

The identities of the leaders are also slightly
speculative, however the central comittee is know to
have 13 members as in a witch's coven.

Loyally Yours,

The Loyalist Officers in 4th Dimensional Hiding

Lakey, Mate,

Don't hang up on the notion of the government devaluing the currency by creating inflation so it can pay off its debt in "devalued $$$'s."

That trick has been around for eons. It was also one of the sleight of hands tricks advised by Keynes, now long ago.

In many respects, it is a bit of an illusion . . . the $$$'s still have to be earned, but now out of a smaller piece of the pie available to the "woikers." The only ones who actually win at that scam are the bankers.

Currently, there is a game of "competitive devaluation" going on between nation states and their comparative currency values . . . but the joker in the pack is that the international banks do their thing, play their game, and they boot around the comparative values and also interest rates by "targeting" these things to make money out of the "volatility" they cause by bidding up then down such.

More important in that video were the other things revealed: things to do with the relative power of China to the US falling behind as now second rate.

Larry Edelson is rather hyping up the notion "that Obama is betraying the US by being in a secret agreement China to devalue the $$$ against the yaun" . . . . that's in the realm of attempts at shock value intended to grab attention while he sells you his investment service :melodramatic:

The US administration has been on about China needing to revalue the yuan up (instead of "unfairly" pegging it down) for a decade or more. It's no secret we've wanted to be "devalued" against the yuan: or put another way, we wanted them to increase the value of their currency.

Of course, there was a time when our government didn't mind us getting all those cheap imports based on the improperly valued yuan . . . it helped the US keep its inflation down! :duh::duh:

The biggest betrayal of America has been the exporting of its productive capacity overseas (including south to Mexico) . . . that is what has bankrupted the country . . . that and not standing up to the unions' insane and unrealistic demands for uneconomic wage/benefits for its "woikers." As in England, unrealistic "woiker" demands bankrupted their industries and destroyed their own jobs. And if you read the press carefully, you'll read how "high costs" of government employees and their abundant benefits is behind bankrupting cities, states, and the Fed. government.

Some big US musical instrument manufacturers have shifted to Mexico for final assembly of some of their products. Although the parts are made in the US, the instruments form a budget range, and are inferior to US made and assembled instruments. I noticed the other week, that a major Canadian manufacturer is doing the same thing, but their budget range instruments are being made in the US! That is not a good sign, at all. Is the US becoming Canada's Mexico?

....and now for something completely different. It appears that ol' Louie Farrakhan is feeling his oats after doing the Purif, and some Book One auditing:

Allah Will ‘Bring Down’ America’s Skyscrapers: Horrific New Farrakhan Audio Praising Sharia Law and Threatening ‘Death’ Unless ‘America Submits’

The Minister Louis Farrakhan isn’t one to avoid controversial language. In his Sunday address in San Diego, the Nation of Islam leader slammed Israel, lamented Mexico’s loss of land at the hands of American “trickery” and derided President Barack Obama for his endorsement of same-sex marriage. But that’s only a portion of what was uttered in his nearly three-hour address. During the last 10 minutes, the fiery Farrakhan erupted with fervency, applauding the violence of sharia law and giving some cryptic warnings to America regarding Iranian intervention. In speaking to his “Arab brothers,” Farrakhan said that they should not kill their children who shame them. But rather than merely lambasting those who participate in honor crimes, he turned the discussion into a referendum on America (in all fairness, while making these comments, he did say that “Islam needs reform,“ and that his Arab brothers need ”mercy from God“ so they can get ”strong enough to live sharia” — but both statements came without proper explanation).

Hats. I'm surprised that Louie gets to you! As for sedition, he doesn't threaten to cause damage to America but instead asserts that Allah will wreak the damage upon us through causing natural disasters. The Reverend Jeremiah Wright was more hateful with his "God Damn America" rant.

To me Louie Farrakhan is the classier of the two by a wide margin. His sermons and talks are interesting to listen to. I agree with very little of what he says but still find him interesting.

Its also interesting that you know people who think like he does. I've encountered a few but never got to know any of them. How do you, as a white person, get to know such people? I had the following experience. The guy didn't want to know me so there was no way to get to know him.

I went on a home remodeling sales call about 12 years ago for African American couple. The lady was quite nice and had a lot of questions but the husband took one look at me, walked to a back bedroom and slammed the door.. After doing some sketches for the wife and spending about 45 minutes with her, I told her that I needed her husband to join us before I could proceed with my presentation. He grudgingly reentered the room and sat down with a scowl on his face.

I started talking and the husband piped up that he did not trust white contractor's. I used a Scientology acknowledgement and said, "I got you and I understand why you might feel that way." To him, using "I got you" sounded to him like I was trying to talk Ebonics. He got up and said some sort of rant like, "I gotcha, I gotcha, you think you are smart, trying to win me over, trying to talk the talk." He walked out of the room and slammed the door behind him.

I didn't say a word, just closed my suitcase and started walking out. The wife said that she really needed help and I seemed very helpful. She apologized for her husband. I thanked her and said I enjoyed talking to her and wished her the best.

Lakey, I can't say I know anyone with ALL of the same traits as LF, but one or two family members or friends come downright close! These people who act as if they are speaking for God and drool when contemplating his show wrath against man are just one big service facsimile. How does carnage make them right? Dunno. :melodramatic:

And they are always proponents of enforcing some infallible LAW which rewards themselves as the righteous. Fanatics are getting too much respect. Hrrmmmmmph!
