Shortly after Ken's suicide, his mom, Louise told me that approximately a week before he died, the two of them were watching "The Sopranos" on HBO. In that episode, someone was killed with the concrete weight into the pool schtict.

It was me, alone, who went through Ken's finances (after his death).

Prior to his suicide, he had $300. In the bank. He had been just turned down for another credit card. He hadn't worked for pay in 6 years. He owed $500K on his house. He had about 20 credit cards, each maxed around $30K. No income. His books, while liked, couldn't find a publisher.

Louise thought he committed suicide.

My thought: typical Scio thought - OT, Scientology, more of that mind set. More important than immediate life. Do what Ron would do - put up a fake front.

When the shit hit the fan, he jumped in the pool.

He didn't take care of his body.
His coma was brought on by his gut breaking. More attention to living in the physical universe, and less exploring inner space would have been a good thing.

Like too much TV, too much introspection isn't good.

Thanks Carmelo. I met him years ago, he was telling me how he had exteriorized so far from the mest universe that it looked like a ball of cotton in your hand. I remember he had a lot of reel to reel tapes and was always scouting around for more.

Yeah, the "immediate body is worthless syndrome" and the "I'll handle it next lifetime" Scio train of thought may have made it easy for him to move on. Sigh.

His accomplishments are legendary.

His Achille's heel was of that of the same coin - different side.

Not unlike George Harrison's observations of the Haight Ashbury, recorded in Living in the Material World, there wasn't a healthy "living in the material world" thing going on.

Those tapes, for a large part had degraded. Magnetic tapes do that. I sold one or two tapes out of many boxes of tapes.

He left Louise, who was closing in on 80, holding the bag without any financial support. She had moved into his house when he was in the coma. When he came out of it, he didn't go back to work. He didn't pay or report taxes. His "cash flow" was entirely from working the system and borrowing. Because he didn't report Louise to the IRS as a dependent. Consequently, when he died, she was ineligible for his Social Security benefits. I tried filing his taxes after his death for those 6 years. The IRS didn't accept them. - even though an IRS auditor helped me do them. Legitimately, had he just filed his taxes saying she was his dependent (for financial reasons), she could have lived well after his death on his Social Security benefits.

The house was worth $350K, and had a mortgage of $500K.

not unlike Sea Org members, they weren't dealing in the material world, but in "higher matters"

I should probably let this slide by but I’m gonna have my say and then, regarding this topic, forever hold my piece and peace. I’ve touched on some of this a few times before in the past here but this time I’m gonna let “it” all hang out.

I’m gonna be blunt and to the point. I mean not to hurtful to any one or burden anyone’s heart. At the same time, I seek to alleviate something that hurts me and burdens my heart.

I don’t give a fly F about hits and stats on this Thread or any other Thread on ESMB. I didn’t start posting on ESMB, or this Thread for “Readership Numbers” or “Maximum Exposure” or “Big Audience”. If I had thought that “Stats” was of importance on this Board or Thread I never would have NEVER posted here.

In the “Old Days” when there was the “Top 10” Thread Column and sort of a in-house friendly rivalry with the FCDC Thread the “Stat” thing was kinda a fun little sidebar thing IMO for a while, but, after this Thread passed FCDC and the “Top 10” Column removed, the whole “Stat” thing, to me, has become unattractive hubris.

Why?

The Apollo Thread is a sub-board within a Board…It exists solely due to the Good Graces, Stand and Deliver, Blood, Sweat and Tears Sacrifice of Huge Heart Emma and the Stepping Up of Mick Wenlock and Ethercat. Emma never brought up or gloated about “Stats”, “Audiences”, “Hits” or “Readership”. Emma never sought a nod for nuthin no how neither—and I’m pretty damn certain that’s how things are gonna be with Mick and ‘Cat, too.

The Apollo Thread is such an eclectic, dynamic, detailed and unique mix of Scn history, human interest, general information, discussions, narratives, stories, documents, pictures, humor, links upon links, etc. related directly to Scn and its spinoffs (aka “squirrel groups”). The same is so for myriads of other subjects…just a about everything imaginable under the Sun has been given the Apollo Thread “Treatment” by an ad hoc gang of still breathing dinosaurs from the four corners of the earth. Some have come and moved one and some have passed on. But, the Apollo Thread is a part of ESMB, which is broader in scope, richer in detail and filled with more information, covering more generations and eras than any one Thread.

ESMB has far more readers daily than the Apollo Thread. From my periodic cursory looks, ESMB’s readers are pretty much similar to the Apollo Thread’s…mostly guest lurkers. Often time there are “Hot” contemporary Threads on ESMB that get 3,000 or more hits in a day. I’ve also noticed that many guest lurkers are reading “old” threads. There’s absolutely no way to know whether or not the guest lurkers are reading contemporary posts on the Apollo Thread. And, as perhaps half of the content, or more, of the Thread is none Scn related, there’s no way to know whether or not they are all reading about Scn stuff at all.

I post here because it seemed like the proper place to post what I initially wanted to say and tell and because there were some folks here I felt comfortable about, liked their “style” and they were from the “Old Days”. I never posted here because of “Hits”, “Stats” or “Audience” and on the several occasions someone here has intimated that I care about that or should care about it I have felt most insulted and have quit posting here for a number of weeks. I do care that what is posted here about the Apollo, the Sea Org, general Scn operations, various personnel and perhaps other subjects that I have first hand, personal knowledge and expertise in is accurate. I care about that because there are people reading here that are looking for information and there will we others in the future. It is far more important to me that one person reads something I wrote that in some way on eases their burden and helps them on their own path to recovery and closure than to have a thousand “Hits” a day on a Thread I’m posting on…that don’t mean a goddam thing to me.

If Stats are important to others then they can easily read the numbers themselves...they're no secret.

I am an ESMB Member that off and on posts on the Apollo Thread, not vice versa.

I hear you man ! It is frustrating to keep getting dragged into an imaginary play someone is having with the " importance" and "stats" of this thread.

There are people I love to read - like you. And a few others I keep going how the fuck are they managing to turn the post somebody made about an apple into claiming they said it was orange and then go on to arrogantly explain how the number 17 is the deal. But, WTF, it is sometimes so ludicrous as to be funny - ands it always adds to the STAT !

We are kicking around a slogan, so far the best we have come up with is, "Today ESMB, tomorrow the Internet!" (based on the German slogan 1932-1945).

Of course the hits stat is the most important thing, how could anyone believe otherwise?! One reason why I am ignorant is that when I go to read a book, I simply check to see how many pages it has and then go online to see how many copies have been sold. That's all I need to know before I check off the book as having been read. Maybe, if I actually read the book I might not be so ignorant.

Here's a tip, if you are considering which car to buy, no need to waste time reading up on various models or even bother test driving them or talking to owners. The key is to look up the sales stats for each particular model you are interested in. Let the public do your research for you, obviously, the models which sell the best are the best cars, save time and let the public do your vetting for you.

Thanks Carmelo! You are the GREATEST!!! You're a totally Pan Determined Being who is a friend to all. A song by Harry Belafonte came to mind as I was reading some of the links which you put up. Harry says it very simply with his line, "Wipe the tear from me eye" in his song "Come Back Liza".

I guess Liza is best represented by your friend from youth who you just stared at for long periods without speaking. That particular individual audited me for 325 hours on one huge intensive. The person is an Angel and C of S was able to attract this person to join the S.O. and deliver their technology. Any Organization which could do that can't have been ALL bad because Angels are not fools! Such a valuable being as that believed in the group as it existed then. Having left the group long ago, bad things must have occurred but what else is new! Carmelo tells me that my former auditor has been out for a long time and is still living.
