The Mayo Challenge

In the meantime, if this really is David Mayo [and it has since been confirmed that it is], thank you for the work you've done, and thank you for being a truth teller. You made a big difference for the better.

I would just like to confirm it *is* David Mayo,
also. Thankfully, he's here, he's communicating, in the limited
way he can. He'll always be who he is---no one can take that away
from him, thankfully.

Very cool. I know now that he is. I'd been careful to not post anything negative back when I wasn't sure. I'm quite glad that he and Julie are here.

I dunno. It's been 2 days. Possibly the good will that was extended to us__ to answer on ESMB any questions, got abused after 2 weeks here. His apologies and his grace and his sincere efforts to understand don't ever seem to be enough for some. The kindness and willingness to engage in our conversations has been met with jibes. It has been hard for me to watch. I don't speak for David. These are my feelings. I don't care if he told Emma he isn't that thin skinned. It's been awfully painful to see him crucified again by some while those of us who were there saw such good intentions to help.

Being the snoop that I am, I've noticed that private messages are graciously acknowledged. :grouphug:

I know you're familiar with my writings as you've recently (and quietly) adopted some of my view as your own. That said, the above quoted line from your post is dishonest. You know what you wrote is not so, yet you wrote it anyway.

Disappointing.

In light of the fact that whenever anyone pops up who actually practices ... free & independent use of scientology tech ... you inevitably attack them as deluded, manipulative, or both, your claims of 'respect & tolerance' carry no weight. :eyeroll:

Although, I can't say I'm disappointed because frankly I've come to expect very little from you.

Most outside the CofS Scientologists take OT 3 literally. It an incident. And per Scientology's axioms, the "time, place, form, and event" of that incident must be duplicated so as to be as-ised.

That's just the way it is. Ron Journal '67 http://carolineletkeman.org/sp/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=137&Itemid=101 and the Class 8 course http://forum.exscn.net/showpost.php?p=177122&postcount=41 are also taken very seriously.

And denial of this is PR.

I actually surveyed people on this. Those I surveyed mostly didn't
take OT 3 literally.

They were mostly highly trained including old timers.

I also didn't take it literally and yet found it useful.

This is not PR. Its what I observed and discovered.

So put up a poll on this. If not I will myself tomorrow.

I've never met Dave or Julie. Its quite clear that they are very willing to
interact with all no matter what. To turn the other cheek, to admit having been wrong. And so on.

All the above is from a viewpoint of integrity and strength, IMO.

And grace. :)

Its hard to show grace under pressure if one is vulnerable. :)

It's nice to see you and your FZ PR associate tag teaming the 'public' on ESMB again.

Frick and Frack.

Always good for a laugh.

Now carry on with your schmoozing - you do it so well.

That was about an hour ago.

He may not be posting but it looks like he's still around. :)

OK. Probably a pm

The last post to this forum was to me.

I was bored and saw 'Who's Online'. Julie and David's box both said 'replying to thread'. I waited around reading posts over different threads. Nothing....replied to some threads and checked back. Nothing....hrrrmmmmph. I made a prompting announcement of double post to come....Nothing. That's when I got his reply. It was funny, but sad because other posters' jeers were the response to my announced anticipation. So, from now on I mind my own business. As far as anyone knows...

it's true. but for what's it's worth, i see this pattern over and over again in my usual forum. different topic completely, but same nonsense. doubters and trolls all over the place. the only difference is, over there i have a "ban" button. :)

My FZ PR associate tag team is who exactly? And where did
I mention him?

So I guess I'll have to start a poll tomorrow. Hope I can learn to do so in reasonable time.

Many times, I expressed a positive view of the basic function of auditing. The basic function (or activity) of auditing can be thought of as a kind of neutral medium, a medium through which many things can be done - some beneficial, some manipulative, some destructive.

Scientology, as designed by its founder, and as expressed in its Grade Chart, uses all three aspects.

You left Scientology thirty years ago, yet you're still a Scientologist.

My suggestion to you is to find a good neurosurgeon and have that Scientology tattoo removed from the inside of your skull. :p

Really, Mark Baker, I ask this sincerely, do you actually attach the label of "Scientologist" to yourself?

Does your personal self-image of yourself include the attachment to the concept "I am a Scientolgist"? If so, that will tell me a GREAT deal. Please honestly answer the question simply and clearly without any of your highly-developed and agile side-stepping (I mean that as a compliment).

I can't imagine that this is true, that you would say clearly and boldly, "I am a Scientologist", but I have been wrong before trying to guess what goes on in the minds of other people. You seem to have noticed enough craziness in both the subject and practice to NOT make such an over-generalized identification. And, yes, you and I both find some value in some of the data. But, I certainly do not, and never did, not even when in the Sea Org, consider myself "a Scientologist".

++++++++++++

As much as I hate to admit this, it is true. My big OT-3 realization was that I wanted nothing to do with the SO and must leave staff. And I still think OT-3 is bananas, but there you go. My ARC Straightwire auditing helped me remember what was good in my life as a child and put things in a better, saner, more balanced perspective. My FIRST bout of FPRD (BEFORE the RPF!!) helped me realize my marriage was a farce (it was..we knew each other 2 mos & married in the SO, had almost nothing in common outside the SO) and again, that I should leave staff to achieve my goals.

But I could not say those things to the auditor while an SO member and member of the Cult of Scientology. And many other processes were controlling and harmful and what was done on the RPF was a completely abusive mind f&*k.

But I would qualify this to say it depended on how highly the auditor valued the person's PERSONAL goals and well being over the value of the tech, since much of the tech was harmful.

In the free world people have "realizations" and "cognitions" like that without the need of auditing sessions. They get it by having the time and the freedom to think for themself or by having a good conversation with an old friend - all totally free - no need to pay for it, sign a slave staff contract and join a cult or the freezone :coolwink:

Scientolgy PRs have been attempting to disown Incident 2 of OT 3 for decades. It's an embarrassment. That's why paid cult apologist Gordon Melton came up with the "metaphor" angle for use on the "wogs."

The problem is that, per Scientology tech, literal exact "time, place, form, and event" (as described in your handwritten LRH materials) is what duplicates the "4th Dynamic engram" and as-ises the "charge."

Metaphors don't as-is.

Neither does bullshit by the way.

But I don't expect you to give up trying.

What else can you - and your associate - do? :eyeroll:

As a test, stop anyone leaving the AOLA and ask, "Do you take the OT 3 story literally." If you can get past the dismissive smirk that will be displayed, I guarantee you that no one will say, "Yes." Lying About OT 3 to outsiders is a Scientology sacrament.

 Absolutely, Markus. I completely agree.

I have mixed feelings about this, Markus. On one hand, I truly enjoyed the realizations (aka cognitions) I got in auditing. I really did. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with pursuing a method that might induce such.

However, having said that, I've been doing a lot of non fiction reading of various things- not Scn. Things like Buddhism and shamanism. Been doing some meditating, too. I get insights with that, and in a way they're sort of like the cogs I got in Scn but there are some real differences there. In a lot of ways, it's not the same at all. Plus they just come to me and it seems like less, I don't know- pressure may be the wrong word- but it's less pushed, somehow.

I still value the time I spent as a church then an indie Scientologist and truly don't feel ALL of it was wasted (some was, though) but I'm really having fun with various thoughts and insights that are coming to me from my non Scn studies, too.

I think maybe some discipline is needed to pursue a spiritual path but Scn possibly (I'm NOT talking about the Church of Scientology) has too much of it.
