*sigh* addressing "breast milk".

Breast milk is perfect for babies, nutritionally & emotionally. The clear liquid that comes out (before the milk) provides the babies with antibodies and helps their immune system.

I personally feel breast feeding is a personal choice. However, even Woman who choose to "bottle feed" are given breast pumps so that the breast milk is still the initial nutrition offered to a newborn.

I breast fed my oldest, but dried up rather quickly, and she was on a bottle at a few weeks. My second & third children, I used a bottle & a breast pump, till I had the same problem (low production of breast milk).

LRH certainly had some serious hang-ups, and I hate that they were visited upon people who believed in him.

And his heart stopped cold with each contraction!

I was totally freaked out and in terror! - However, midwife and doctor seemed unconcerned. I didn't wan't to ask aloud: "Is he dying?".. I was concerned about the 'engram' thing.. But more importantly, I didn't want to freak out my wife.. In case she hadn't noticed the screen.

In the end the doctor simply 'pulled' the buy out using a suction cup. This caused the boys head to be qrotesquely malformed. You could see a giant lump in the shape of the inside of the cup. I was totally convinced that his head and brain was irrepairably destroyed!

Again midwife and doctor seemed unconcerned. And the reason I didn't ask was Hubbards engram theory..

Fortunatly the boy started screaming like a banshee! - I'd seen a movie starring John Wayne where that was a sure sign of the baby being alive and healthy!

And the boy was given to his mom.. Soon as he got there he calmed down.. (As I recall!)

I dare say that this 'say nothing' bussiness gave ME and my wife an engram.. While the boy could care less it seemed!

:wiggle:

I am sorry it was not explained to you that a babies heart does stop for a moment during a contraction. (That is why is labor goes on too long they do c-sections.)

*lol* @ your healthy VOCAL son!!! :D

Taken from Wikipedia:

Colostrum (also known as beestings or first milk or "immune milk") is a form of milk produced by the mammary glands of mammals in late pregnancy and the few days after giving birth.

Colostrum is high in carbohydrates, protein, and antibodies and low in fat (as human newborns may find fat difficult to digest). Newborns have very small digestive systems, and colostrum delivers its nutrients in a very concentrated low-volume form. It has a mild laxative effect, encouraging the passing of the baby's first stool, which is called meconium. This clears excess bilirubin, a waste product of dead red blood cells which is produced in large quantities at birth due to blood volume reduction, from the infant's body and helps prevent jaundice. Colostrum contains all five immunoglobulins found in all mammals, IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG and IgM. There are many beneficial proteins in the colostrum, including a variety of growth factors (IGfs).

Again, breast feeding is not for all Women. But that bullshyte psydeo-phsycho babble is not worth the paper is was published on.

Thank's Klidov :) - Nothing was explained to me.. Both I and my wife was on staff.. I could imagine that my wife wasn't allowed time off to go the the birth preparation class that the hospital offered. (I don't recall) - I'd been away the previous three months at StHill in UK. Came home a couple of days before.

Hmm.. That giant lump on top of my sons head, from the suction cup, took a couple of weeks (as I recall) to level out and look like a human head. No ill effects of that.. But damned scary!

I was the Barley milk cook then! - I made Barley milk every second day. I was very particular with it being fresh, since I'd seen it go sour.

My wife did breast feed the boy though. Which meant that I threw out most of the Barley milk.

There was a nurse coming regularly to check up on the baby.. And see if we did everything correct. She didn't approve of Barley milk at all! - And she could see all our Scientology Books on the shelf... Baaaad indicators! - The kid was healthy and growing just fine though. I anything he was a little too beefy.. Nurse said that there was too much sugar (syrup) in the Barley and recommended something called 'Alomin' instead.

Allright.. I bought some 'Alomin' and I tasted it. I thought it tasted like shit... And so did my son.. He threw the bottle aside and voiced his dissatisfaction.

So I tasted the breast milk to decide how much syrup should go into the Barley milk. That turned out to be very little, to have a similar 'sweetness'... My son didn't like that either, but he got used to it.

That was when I believed in Hubbards dreck! - Thankfully my wife had lots of milk for him, and his brother later.. So they didn't live off Barley milk... Which turns out to be a very bad choice for baby food!

American Council of Science and Health/Parental Ignorance Can Hurt

"Next, we have a report of scurvy (yes, scurvy) in a two year-old girl whose parents fed her a mixture of boiled organic milk, barley, and corn syrup -- no fruits or vegetables from which she could have obtained the vitamin C needed to stave off the disease. The Church of Scientology reportedly prescribed the diet."
