Muscles and mussels ??? I do hang my head in shame:sorry:

I was doing about ten things all at once, and while getting installed on the Redux . . . I was battling with the decision of what avatar to use :hattip: and collided with an old one I had used here, but felt, maybe it is a little presumptuous . . .

When first used years ago it sparked some "twitterpations" among certain ladies they claimed :clap2:

Sorry girls. 'Twas not my intent to upset anyone's equilibrium.

Here for memory's sake . . .

I really appreciate your efforts, and understand how it could become necessary to close it down. I haven't posted in years, but occasionally pop in to see what's going on. Seems like there hasn't been a lot of activity for several years, which I take as a good sign that people are using other social media to express themselves and find support. I'm glad the archives will be here for people to see. This has been a wonderful site for me, personally, and I know it has helped many others. Peace, love and hippies, to you, and to all the posters, many of whom have passed on and are loved and missed.

Emma, is it possible to change the search limits before you close the forum? When searching by username ("Posted by Member"), then search merely finds 200 posts or less.

I think I searched all your posts one time, knn. I was under the impression you didn't have any more than that when searching Aspectics. But, then now that I look at what you posted above again, you weren't talking about your own posts.

I want to make sure the first couple yrs of postings are available. I don't post much anymore because I'm getting old and feeble and it's hard to be coherent sometimes. I do check this site often though, as many golden nuggets are found in present and past posts.

I do enjoy ESMB mightily. Was hoping and praying our collected archives could be easily accessible. Searching under 'thread title' often worked better than poster name, and I found most archived posts easier with a simple google search.

Thankyou Emma for everything you've done. You've helped a lot of troubled souls by providing this platform. You've been very much appreciated. I'm impressed by your graciousness in helping PandB set up the ESMB redux . You are Emma the Good! (I can't find the worship smileys.....need to re-educate)

WHAT'S WITH THE VACUUMING??????
I just decided that I was down-stat and assigned meself to lower conditions.

As an amends project I am preparing the board for the white glove inspections that should be happening anytime soon now since we are closing down shop.

You didn't get the memo? I am shure I sent out a memo.

I'm not going to delete these smileys. You realise you'll be forever remembered as the guy who liked vacuuming? The He-man who wore cleaning lady outfit and vacuumed. Yes you.

You mean DMSMH?
Now here's a fun story for ya.

I only ever told me close friends about my past in scientology as late as 2009. My best friend that's been a part of my live since 1999 was absolutely gobsmacked.

He got hooked in, and I am embarrased to say he has collected a small Scientology library over the years.

It started when he was doing a gig over in Las Vegas, he took the following weekend and headed to LA, walked in and did the psych museum tour and went to, I think, some LRH museum. That is where he bought DMSMH and the little book on stats(don't remember its name).

so I mean, I could theoretically go and get his copy of it, to clean my windows. He'd be heartbroken though.

Emma,

I just want to thank you for everything you have done putting this board together and keeping it going over the years. I wasn't going to write a thank you message, because so many others have, and I don't have anything particularly different to add to their messages, but as I see the clock ticking down to ESMB's closure to new posts, I feel increasingly that it would just be churlish not to thank you while I still have the chance.

So, THANK YOU. And thank you to all the members on ESMB for sharing their experiences in Scientology and/or viewpoints on it. Participating here has certainly changed my perspective on Scientology. Imagine if we HADN'T had access to sites like ESMB and OCMB over the years. Some of us might still be planning our A-E steps, or whatever. Hearing the stories of senior ex-members of the church, especially highly-tech trained members and those who did the higher OT levels, was very important for me to understand what the Church of Scientology is REALLY about. Without that information, all an ex-member has is the vague feeling that something is drastically wrong with the church, without the detailed information to say WHY that might be the case.

Good luck, everyone (tears well up in eyes).

Now, where's that bulletin about the A-E Steps....?

Lol! Don't do A-E ... come over to the new board and continue being a bitter defrocked apostate with us instead (it's much more fun).

Here's the link

Shiny new board.

Yah, 'twas me in an old press photo, circa 1958-59. Title of the clip was "Start of the Open Surf Race."

On the girly thing, I found it quite interesting in Europe and the US in the sixties and seventies, that the girls were rather gawked, some even gasped!, at the muscularity even when relaxed. On the beaches of Sydney it was all business as usual.

Here is another oldie of about eight years earlier when around 15 years of age. This just after a race in the surf behind. me in the middle. The other two lads I grew up with same age.

And yes, patience and Zenness is a good acquirement, but I find wisdom best.

Today I get all kinds of admiration for the countenance and whiskers shown in my current avatar:) Umm, rather like respect shown for wisdom and age.

But in actuality, the whisker thing is not an artifact of fashion  it is as a service to my sweet Virginia who prefers these softies when I kiss her versus being lacerated by my old five o'clock shadow

Mr. Gillette, eatcha heart out . . . . whiskers are IN!

I love these pics of another era ;)
Check this out then @lotus.

These are all neighbours of our street and adjoining ones having our 'Empire Day' fancy-dress celebrations. That's me aged about four or five I think on the extreme left next to the girl dressed up as a bride. At a rough guess, this picture was taken around 1951/2.

Back then I could name practically everybody who lived in our street but these days I don't even know who lives next door.

Further down the road on the left of the picture is a streetlight, and a man used to come along every evening at twilight and turn on the gas and light the lamp. Jeezus! Talk about medieval.
