Tortures of the Damned

Gollum's story is particularly appropriate for ex-Scientologists, I feel.

Many of us were offered Dianetics and Scientology as a panacea, capable of curing whatever it was that ailed us (our "ruin"), much as Gollum thought the one ring would do for him. In the end, his precious enslaved him, broke his mind, and ruined his spirit.

Luckily for us, we were not enslaved by magic, and it is possible for us to break the ensorcelment.

Which of you cannot identify with this?

Do not forget that it is you who builds the prison for yourself, and you who tortures yourself. You can be free.

Stop putting on the ring.

How apt an analogy!

Do often think about the ring and dream about it.

Having to live life as an ordinary fallible human is sometimes difficult.
