I read this book, Montauk Revisited: Adventures in Synchronicity, several years ago. It is a fantastical trip of a read. One of the authors was in the SO, and on the Apollo with LRH. The book is about how LRH and Parsons basically "cleaned up" the mess left behind by the Montauk Project. It's pretty wild stuff... Hard to believe, but who knows...

I did an experiment one
time - "the great god Throgmagog." I invented him one
morning. I said, "By golly, I bet you he's got some
therapeutic use. I wonder what this conscious mind is? What
is this conscious mind?" So I said, "Let's see, you ought
to be able to hypnotize somebody..." Used an awful lot of
hypnotism in early research. God bless Charcot; that's all
I got to say.

Well, anyway, I invented this great god Throgmagog for one
single and solitary purpose: to find out if the conscious
mind could be removed from the individual and be made to
think and give orders to the individual thereafter.

Did that in 1947. Nineteen forty-seven, the first few
months, I'd actually gone and gotten the actual books of
psychoanalysis of Jung, Adler and the rest of the boys, and
I'd given them a good hard run. I burned the midnight oil
on these things - burned it hard - because I was doing a
review of what I thought they were doing. And I found out
that I had steered a course over the hills and far away. I
found out that Breuer's knowledge of hypnotism was very
elementary, that I'd thrown an awful lot of data onto the
track which had been picked up elsewhere and then said,
"Well, that belongs too, then." And that is not the case.
So it became almost anything but the case.

All right. Breuer's work indicated, however, people could
be hypnotized and it had some connection with
psychotherapy. That's an important datum.

If he'd stuck with that - be famous forever.

All right. Here we had the ability to put a person out and
do something about his mind. What can we do about his mind?
So I invent the great god Throgmagog, I say, "All right,"
to this fellow, "you are now the great god Throgmagog, and
you will now step two feet to the right of yourself and you
will thereafter do thinking and computing and give you all
the advice which you need on the subject. Five, four,
three, two, one, snap! Wake up." The great god Throgmagog.
And the guy would go around for days doing brilliant
things, the like of which you never heard of. Just
brilliant things. It's something like doing long division
of fifteen numbers divided into twenty-one hundred numbers,
or something like that, with right answers - calculating
machine problems, and all that sort of thing. How would he
do these things?

He would turn around and he would say, "The problem is
so-and-so and so-and-so. The answer is so-and-so and
so-and-so." The great god Throgmagog.

My idea was that somehow or other you could remove the mind
from the influence of the reactive mind, which I'd already
spotted. And if you could do this, you would have an
unlimited, unaberrated self.

And what was I doing? It takes five years to find out what
I was doing! Otherwise, that's just another experiment.
That's one of the fastest ways to Theta Clear I know.
Except don't tell the guy he's also inside. Tell him to get
out and stay out, and to monitor this thing from a
distance, and you got a Theta Clear. And it gives you a
whole new method of Theta Clearing right there.

Svengali. You're talking about hypnotism and so on - boom
him out. Put him under deep trance and knock him out of his
head if you can't do anything else. Shoot him full of
narcosynthesis and kick him out. Possibly you could do a
thousand things like this, but our later results tell us
one thing else: he must get out in a highly self-determined
state or he'll cave in. And the great god Throgmagog always
caved in, in almost exactly two weeks. The self-determinism
punch would last... its highest level would be reached in
three days, then would lower and would be gone in a few
weeks. Interesting, isn't it? Five years ago - the great
god Throgmagog.

Yep, every serious scientific study of the mind needs to include a reference to hypnotising imaginary monsters and the effect of various experiments. I mean, if it worked on Throgmagog, its gotta work on everyone. Amirite or amirite?

It seems that whenever LRH did something publicly reprehensible, he was "working undercover"...

His war record doesn't reflect anything but a screwup - "He was in intelligence - don't you recognize a false record when you see one?"

He was involved with Jack Parsons in sex magic - "He was infiltrating the organization."

L. Hubbard was out to make a quick buck with a fantasy with some basic truth in it called Dianetics. It surprisingly to Hubbard actually worked and was taken up by a large group of people as useful. And they made it useful, contributing further to it.

L. Hubbard was swept up in the idea that this was really his purpose. That lasted until around 1964. From 1952 when Elizabeth NJ collapsed to 1964 he struggled with being an obsessive paranoid micromanager of the worst sort - the boss and the friend from hell.

Between 1964 and 1970 the drugs and the paranoia took over - we have OT III the story (what he really thought he was doing I don't know, there may be a valid technique there, I got a lot out of it, but the whole drug-induced story is ludicrous...).

We have the upper level secrecy, the ship, the medicine cabinet and the Sea Org, the ultimate dramatization all the way down to sailor uniforms (WTF).

From about 1970 on the momentum of the somewhat sane years keeps things running forward. L. Hubbard dies. And Miscavige turns up the money heat, burning down the bridge in the process, and is busy raking in every penny possible before he jumps ship at the end.

Scientology in a Nutshell. Should be a ground squirrel on the cover ala O'Reilly books...

Riiiiiiight Mark.

I am not in the mood for it anymore as it is my bedtime. But it was a thoughtful post to write. I am angry as I page reloaded.... and nadda to everything else I tried.

I just wanted to share that I had experienced the sledgehammer phenomena of 'soul cracking,'' and I had deduced some things about it. The bottom line was that any time I have gone into this universe I have gone in with others added. It is sad to say that there was a shift of power during these times. I found also that I had 'machinery' attached to me that kicked in when I barreled out. This machinery in the mind was composed of other beings.....that once were just as conscious as myself. I have also heard it said that some of the spacecraft we see are actually composed of living entities.

I would have liked to have been able to handle Int phenomena with asking for another's charge. I left the C of S while on lower levels. When I was at the AAC I told David I felt like someone or something was pounding down on my etheric body with a hammer. It seemed that they wanted me to pull out of it or untie the knot securing my individuality here so I could be extracted. It was an awful experience. I left the C of S. I no longer cared about going up the Bridge or the OT levels. I realized I had been invited to open up a Pandora's box and having done so NO safe solutions were offered. I dug in and submerged.

What I guess I am saying is that the mechanisms that kicked in on me were spiritual machines. Machines made up of people who once were like thee and me. I had whole bunches of such incidents as 'Escape' was my forte'....over and over like the Great Houdini. Scn totally failed me in handling the phenomena that kicked in or the opponents I contacted as I became pervasive and exterior. I went into a fast dive and submerged never to give a shit about such notions as operating thetan again. I knew why I had adopted the safe solution I was wearing and decided it was apt for the job.

It is sad that we are just about guaranteed to run into people who pushed us IN to this universe when we embark upon a subject like Scientology. It is like a magnet. We are playing once again the game of getting out so why wouldn't we pull in people who cause us to Go In. Then...because we are in human guise we automatically bounce out of or deny the charges hit when we somehow exteriorize and get rerun on us the same unsolvable problems we had just before we went IN.

Challeges to my Goodness. Drug Impants to make me ONE with violent criminals. False pasts. Impusles to unmock myself. All BULLSHIT!!!!!!

When I first experienced the sledgehammer 'soul cracking' attempt on me....I was immediately drawn to looking for what agency of the black magicians had discovered me. These were the automatic associations in my mind. A flood of incidents avalanched upon me and I knew where the beams were coming from. Each incident unique and each having to do with the Going In to a new paradigm after a major chaos and system upheaval.

Our identities or valences are dictated by the relationships between the archetypes in any given system of things. When a whole system is blown to pieces there are always those carpetbaggers who want to scrounge up those disenfranchised and code new roles. Life is quite malleable when it finds itself no longer with a useful purpose to fulfill. Under duress it accepts new assignments impinged on it.

Babylonian magicians should come up in the same post.....which I was trying to reply too on the subject of exteriorization and magick.

I think the individuals in the machinery that kicks in when one is exteriorizing from containment / punishment universes is composed of programmed life force particles. Beings... who were once as capable as any.. They are Life that has been compressed into being the machinery in the mind.

WHY? __ had always been my question when I started to feel the light body I was occupying was being attacked in order to siphon me OUT. The answer I got was that there were ongoing attacks against any Original Proprietors. To me, that means that some beings' creations contributed to the physical universe and this Earth we now enjoy. To some powers that be... it is a great liability to have any of the original owners STILL around. This is the planet of those who are no longer themselves and it is verbotem to know who you really ARE. It is destablizing if someone says, "You know, Crete...and such and such..... were directly contributed to by me and my team." 'We can make that whole turf rumble..... because it is our own life substance there you are now living on."

It appears that he was trying to replicate "one shot clear" techniques (notice that this lecture predates the PDC's by one month). Also noted extensively in this time was the fact that once a person "exteriorized" they would always cave in and then be much harder to "get out" in subsequent auditing. That issue would not be addressed in any substantive manner until the 70's, and the "handlings" continue all the way up through the Solo Nots band. (I was surprised to learn that "Int handlings" at the S\N level contain "buttons" that are not part of the list issued in the 70's.)

Gawd, I have had exactly the same thing happen!

There have been MANY times where I have spent a substantial amount of time typing what I thought was a good post, only to have it VANISH when I hit the "submit reply" button.

Yes, using a text editor IS the best way to go. Begin answering the post, and then immediately copy and paste it to the editor. Finish the post THERE, and then paste it back into ESMB. Once having done that, then add any formatting, such as BOLD, italics, and color.

Plus, with this new STUPIDLY INANE 30-minute rule on editing, one cannot change spelling errors, so by using the text editor on a routine basis, one can also do the spell-checking there.

I have listened spell bound to some radio broadcasts on Youtube just to find the most important parts garbled....and the interviewers acknowledging that things often happened that way___the signals being disrupted on certain subjects' key points.

No, not really. It seems quite random to me.

Oh, also. There have been times where I have been typing away like a madman, putting together some typically long (tl;dr) post, and somehow I hit some combination of keys, and BANG, the whole window closes! Lost forever.

Even if one doesn't use a text editor, it is also good to simply highlight the post you are writing every once in awhile and COPY it to your clipboard (CTRL C). Then if you trash it, it is still there in the clipboard. But, yeah, using the text editor is by far the BEST solution to NOT wasting time.

Now, for all of those far more sensible people who compose "shorter" posts, they don't have this type of problem.

It all worked fine . . . what happened was I clicked the link from the other thread and it put me into the "reply" mode on this thread . . . and while there I could see nothing other than others replies and your original but no attachment. But after I punched out my reply, and then saw the live thread, I got the full picture with the goodies.
