What happened to the May 9 event?

Is it me or am I getting spotty in the brainy? Isn't May 9 - the publishing date of Dianetics Book 1 - a Shrine worthy event? But I haven't heard a peep. Usually the Scio's celebrate this big time - rent the Shrine, bus in loads of public, staff etc. on May 9. But he does Portland instead - has he postponed the cele-bray-shun so he can include his photoshop - a - rama extravaganza? Oh my, oh my! What's the skinny here?

Doesn't it seem a big indicator of how wrong things are going for them? If they ditch the May 9 event due to poor potential attendance, what will they ax next? Is this a big PR point for them - it is better to not have an event rather than expose to their public how few they are, how much they have declined. Hence the Portland photo shopping is a vital necessity - the Scio world can see in their IAS mags, official websites etc. how they are expanding, and only the few hundred who showed for the event will know the truth of it. I think they are starting to run on Kool Aid fumes AKA postulates.

They really can't do much but continue to make the few remaining members feel like the game they are playing is important and continue to shelter them from the truth, which really isn't too difficult to do, since they really aren't interested in hearing the truth.

Any largely publicized event brings risk of media coverage with very little return if any.

The Portland Ideal Org Grand Opening is already turning into a PR disaster for them and it's only been one day since the event took place.

Be patient my friends.

I wonder if it is reminiscent of GAT. A rewriting of the book. I believe its new title, required by the truth in advertising laws will be. The science of mental foreplay leading to complete soul hacking. Subtitle: A HELL of a way to waste your life.

And they have reserved a special ISBN = CON 75,000,064 because it will be released next year. Reviews on the dust cover will be by Mark Headley and Jeff Hawkins.

Mims - they are axing the Bridge and training and replacing it with long runways of re-studying books so they have "bodies" fleece them of their last dime! I cannot even imagine how hard it is to go into that building where nothing is getting done- staff are writing each other up - no production of any kind...no one new coming in - and NOW they have been joined up with other Cities and are responsible for raising funds for another Idle Morgue! That would be so brutal. My sources tell me staff are leaving....and I am sure they are. How much can one take to see that Scientology is not working. Imagine being an auditor and you hear all about the bankruptcies, foreclosures, total smashing of everyone's lives! YUCK!

No one was doing much when I was in recently - empty small spaces - now they have more empty HUGE buildings to maintain and pay for!

Scientology is now just a "fund raising" church - you may walk by and hear an ole timer say -

"I remember the day when people actually went up the Bridge"....and immediately one of the newbie 17 year old EO's will write him up for "spreading entheta".

The only hope of scientology surviving this is to get a bunch of young people on board - but scientology did not promote children so there are hardly any kids in scientology - so that hope is dead! Hip Hip Hooray!

My guess is that Super Power is not quite ready to be launched just yet. All they will need to release it is the Idle orgs fully manned and producing millions of new scientologists. That will be the next push, just as soon as they have the buildings. As soon as the last dollar is fleeced it will be time to force the impoverished public to become idle org staff.

Any anybody who actually showed up, who mentions the reality versus the photoshop, knows he will spend some unpleasant hours in Ethics if he breathes a word.

May 9 celebrates the release of one measly book by L. Ron Whattisname.

It will be replaced by an event commemorating the release of THE 18-BOOK BASICS, as created by you-know-who.

My opinion over many years of going to May 9 events is that they have tended to be the poorest of the international events. Although this year they could surely have made a big deal out of all the NOI auditors being both made and <gasp> actually auditing. Maybe they're going to replace the DMSMH event with an NOI event. :)

Hehee maybe that's just what they are NOT ready for yet.

Not quite ready yet to welcome the Nation of L. Con Muhabbard to white cash cow pastures. Out reality.

In the last 5 years or so, the May 9th Event became more of a mandatory meeting for public and staff,
where PES reads a script sent from Int with a video segments in the background. That's it.
Think of Sunday Service with the news about Book One auditing in Somalia thrown in.
I kid you not.

All of Scientology is mandatory for public and staff.

They just aren't cooperating like they used to.

I agree. My point is that Dianetics Day Event is pretty much obsolete within the "church".
There is no video of DM on stage in Shrine or anything. Just acknowledging the date rather modestly.

I know.

I wasn't correcting you, I was just trying to make a humorous statement. (apparently I failed)

Even though I think they had one it certainly wasn't the big deal it was in the past, even last year for that matter.

I know this is not a new revelation, and I'm showing the true colors of my stupidity, but it just occurred to me that the main reason for the beyond obscene regging for money in recent years (relative to the obscene regging previously, when regges regged and those with other posts weren't turned into regges) is because twerpcavige is so afraid his cult will appear weak and show it's severely dwindled membership numbers that he feels he must present the image of a flourishing church, via the big buildings and stockpiles of cash. A little bit of people giving a lot of money is the same as a lot of people giving a little bit of money; hence, they're (appearing) successful.

This is something I never understood with Rubhard or Shitcabbage. You have a built-in membership with kids born to members! wtf?! You are (literally, in some cases) killing off your future membership. Especially in the last decade, with the interwebs and all of the information out there, His Cobness is a demonic sociopath, but he must realize that his cult has a bad rep and anyone and everyone has access to information about that whether he likes it or not, so he needs to come up with more creative ways to get members. Instead of banning children and pregnancies at Int, he should be making everyone get it on and have kids! If I were a sadistic cult leader, that's what I would do.
