LRH wrote that deodorant and things like that, mask the bad smell, so he wanted people in SO to take a shower,not to cover up bad smell with a good one. Same is for cleanning supply. Let's say'if your bathroom stinks,you got to clean it, not just spray deodorant around. It's only for SO members, public can do whatever they want

Yup. Though I used to sprinkle Aqua Velva & Brut on bed sheets and the floor in berthing because the stench got so bad sometimes. Finding a bunk and sleeping someone else's dirty, soiled sheets was bad enough.

I objected when this no-fragrance policy was instituted in the SO, but I rapidly grew to appreciate it.
After being out of the SO for 14 years, I still try to avoid artificial fragrances. I simply don't like them. Natural smells (like flowers) are totally fine.

I remember being nearly overpowered by the fragrance wafting off visiting Island Royalty at a Goodwill Party aboard the Freewinds.
Some perfumes *are* quite noxious but nowhere near as noxious as the smell of fear and loathing in the MAA's Waiting Room at the Sandcastle.

I think this is all written up somewhere. Elron was obsessed about the smells of soap, perfume, etc. How that relates to now is same as the office set up for Ron, and all the other crap. Meaning It doesn't relate to now, or people who are not LRH. It's just a cultie thing.

At Flag they were extremely strict on it with SO and OOTs but not very strict on it with the newbies cos sometimes I'd be almost gagging on the smell of some of the div 6 public's perfumes. Can't go offending and scaring off the future sheep for the flock.
However I remember being on course at AOSH ANZO, as a public, and twinning with this guy who had used a LOT of b o spray and although it was actually a totally natural tea tree based product the smell managed to fill the course room in about five minutes. No sooner had we started drilling TRs when the sup goes "what is that smell," really loudly, and I could see her from the corner off my eye sniffing at the air like a good ol' hound dawg and following the scent. My TRs must have been good cos somehow I managed not to
at the sight of that. She finally followed the scent to us and then ordered this poor guy to go to the toilets and wash thouroughly before coming back to the course room.

Pretty sure this entered through Flag, OOT's or OOD's, in 70's. Think Howard Hughes and OCD. cleaning, washing, also part of this. Obsessive disorders.

I remember this policy when I was working at AOLA in '85. It had something to do with scents being used in implants and the reason given for not wearing any scented products was to prevent restimulation of implants.
Also, I think this was around the time when LRH was having trouble with allergies and he quit smoking as well. Maybe this is why the policy was made?
I actually liked this policy, especially when working in a closed area with a lot of other people. I hate it when someone walks into an area where I am and they are wearing any kind of synthetic perfume. To me it's very offensive. They stink.
Where I live I notice the doctors offices and dentists offices have signs at the front door asking people not to wear any scented products. These are not Scientologists. Some people are allergic to perfumes and scented products.
