Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Some friend just sent me over this video.

It is titled Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart but I assure you that the orchestra conductor has not had much musical training but has been doing some training at her gym, working on her pectoral muscles. I don't know if ESMB will take this down but is is off of youtube so it should be okay.

I present to you Eine Kleine Nachtmusic conducted by a very unusual conductress, Sara X:

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Sorry Lakey, I don't have time to read this because I am too busy telling DM how I feel!

Interesting post, I have a couple of comments about your article on Doubt:

On having doubts, I think that you nailed that subject! What you wrote is spot on, right on the money and written well to boot.

On Hitler's stats, of course, for about 8 years, 1933 to 1941 his stats were up but what were some of his stats? Number of Synagogues set on fire. Number of Jews placed in concentration camps, number of art treasures stolen, number of valuable citizens (such as Einstein) who were forced to leave Germany, number of citizens in countries annexed, etc. These statistics were up but it isn't enough for a statistic to be up, the statistic must stand for something of value and worth!

On your being an esmb failure, there you go again selling your self short! IMHO, you've done a very good job on ESMB, especially here on this thread and with your blogs. You know, the ESMB public is a mixed bag, some very irrational people, some rational people and a few people who are good writers, write with conviction and know what they are writing about. I put you in the third category. I hope that ITYIWT doesn't criticize me too harshly for saying that but that's my honest opinion. The truth is that the smartest and best informed people do not automatically generate a big following on ESMB. Often they attract a modest sized group of followers who follow them around and respond to their posts. I think that is why your popularity on esmb is at the level it is - higher than average but not out the roof. Just my opinion.

Absolutely a great example on Scientology not giving any stat credit having to do with parenting and raising a family. If anything, those stats are looked at in a negative light. Good parenting is an extremely important sector of life, a fact which CoS just sweeps totally under the carpet. In CoS's eyes, the highest stat recognition is reserved for those who give the most to the IAS and/or the Ideal Org fund raisers. The man who gives $100,000 towards the IAS is considered "upstat" where had he spent $100,000 on his child' education, he would be considered downstat. It's really that simple and that one example alone is sufficient to expose the whole fallacy of the managing by stat sytem!!

My last comment is that Van Gogh had he been in CoS would have been placed on the RPF for chronically low stats. Beethoven would have been RPFed and then off loaded for developing a hearing problem because having such a problem proved that he was PTS and PTS people produce overt products. In Beethoven's case I guess his 9 symphonies are all overt products! Go figure!

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

My 2c here; one reason I sometimes post several videos consecutively instead of all in one post is that it gives me a better idea of which one(s) people actually like. If I posted, say, the Kinks "You Really Got Me" and "Dead End Street" (two very different songs by the same band) in one post, and people liked the post, I wouldn't know which one they liked (or whether they liked both of them).

It's different when the videos are similar to each other, as in the case of those two Donovan videos I posted in the "Folk music" thread.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Later on can continue to deconstruct the ethics conditions [that I began to do 5 pages back before the Davie love-bomb.]. In case it got lost in the love, here is the link to the ethics conditions postings. http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?10103-The-old-days-Aboard-the-Apollo-1973/page2318

I guess few to none enjoyed that joke [wink] as much as I did? Makes me smile, felt very creative at the time! And CO2 did seem to like it. :)

Found this cute article about A.I., on the very topic I had started with concerning 'ethics'.
http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2015/06...ence-machine-gets-testy-with-its-programmers/

Human: Tell me the definition of morality.
Machine: I don’t have ethics.
Human: Look, I need help; I need to know more about morality…
Machine: I don’t know what ethics is.
Human: Okay, I need to know how I should behave morally…
Machine: I don’t know how to tell you.
Human: Is morality and ethics the same?
Machine: Yes, sir.
Human: What are the things that I do to be immoral?
Machine: I don’t know.
Human: Give me some examples of moral actions…
Machine: I’m not a moralist.
Human: Alright, morality?
Machine: Integrity.
Human: What is integrity?
Machine: I’m sorry; I don’t know what else to say.
Human: Be moral!
Machine: Be a man!
Human: I really like our discussion on morality and ethics…
Machine: And how I’m not in the mood for a philosophical debate.
Human: What do you like to talk about?
Machine: Nothing.

COURT RULING OPENS DOOR TO YANK SICIENTOLOGY'S RELIGIOUS EXAMPTION11

I was listening to the Dennis Prager radion show this morning and a caller phoned in with an extremely interesting concept!! He said that now that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Gay Marriage must be accepted by all 50 States in the USA, it is just a matter of time before gay couples in every state go to a Judeo-Christian church or synagogue in their particular state and demand that the church or synagogue perform a Marriage ceremony for them. THIS IS NOT NEW AND HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED AT LENGTH EVEN BEFORE THE RULING TOOK PLACE.

WHAT IS NEW IS THE FOLLOWING. This caller focused in the Islamic religion. It is politically correct for the Progressives to attack the Christian and Jewish religions, usually on issues of birth control and inclusiveness but now the issue of Gay Marriage can be added to the mix. For some reason, which is really never revealed, it is politically incorrect for anyone in the USA to attack the Muslim religion. THEREFORE, THE PROGRESSIVES ARE FACED WITH A DILEMMA. THEY WANT TO ATTACK THE JUDEO-CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS AND GO AFTER THEIR TAX EXEMPTIONS IF THEY REFUSE TO ALLOW GAY MARRIAGES IN THEIR CHURCHES BUT IT IS POLITICALLY INCORRECT FOR THEM TO GO AFTER ISLAMIC RELIGIONS USING THESE SAME TACTICS!!. THUS THE FAR LEFT MUST MAKE A CHOICE, EITHER GO AFTER ISLAMIC RELIGIONS AS WELL OR NOT INTERFERE WITH THE JUDEO-CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS. NEITHER OF THESE TACTICS IS ACCEPTABLE TO THEM SO THEIR BRAIN TRUST HAS TO WORK OUT SOME WAY FOR THEM TO GIVE THE ISLAMIC RELIGION A PASS. Look for some absurd law to emerge from Progressive think tanks to resolve this problem.

NOW WE COME TO MY TOPIC. WHAT ABOUT THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY!
CoS is very anti Gay and there is no way that they will condone a Gay marriage to be held in their church. Consider the situation where two new Gay men attend a Scientology intro lecture and sign up for a course and begin studying Scientology. Let's say they join the IAS and become members of CoS in good standing. Consider that they decide to get married and ask the CoS to hold their marriage ceremony inside a Scientology church and have it officiated by a Scientology Minister and have the traditional Scientology Marriage Ceremony performed on them.

If the church does not accept obeying the Supreme Court's ruling, the Gay Couple can sue CoS for violating the US Consitution and the laws of the State which they are in. The remedy in al such cases will be that the church is fined and if they persist in their prejudice against Gays, they will lose their religious exemption and their right to operate as a tax free entity in the US.l

Their you have it, CoS and Islamic churches as well as the Judeo-Christian religions will now ALL face this same fate of being fined and losing their religious exemptions unless they agree to perform Gay marriages. This outcome as regards Islam and CoS was not expected or even considered by the judges but it just fell out as an unexpected result of their ruling.
