<cut>Maria ...... With her gone, there isn't much going on here.<cut>

She ( too ) rejected him.

Dang it. He done run all the women out of his life !

Too many continued unwanted advances perhaps ?

Something about doing the same thing over & over but keep expecting different results ?

Can we have an opera now ?

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

An extremely nice, thoughtful, kind post that I've copied to doc for future rereading !

Lakey,

I wanna say I like you - the being you are behind all this LRH $cientology adopted behavior and thinking...

Probably the same for other guys here..otherwise they wouldn't care :confused2:

I didn't need any answer to my questions - I only wanted you to take a look at it.

Did it ever come to your mind, as you and I are obviously aging, to simply enjoy people's company in normal day to day stuff, despite whatever are their opinions and takes on whatever including $cientology. Their opinions belongs to them , despite you disagreee, they have right to think so and say so. While maturing as a being, we understand it and don't take offense in other's way of thinking.

One thing that $cientology seems to have done with you Lakey (an many of us), is to turn off an important switch in your mind..wich is the self-introspection switch. When it is turns on, we are able to look at our behavior, see and stop it when it is innapropriate, change it , and have humility to express sincere apologies when we offend people. It's human...we all do wrong on daily basis...but it's a good relief to simply be able to see it and admit it. It makes us stronger.

You mom & dad may have taught you this simple ''way to hapiness'' no 2 step, to enjoy relationships with fellows.

No intend to me to offend you, only to have you take a look at your true self....who know how to do things!

You do whatever you wish - it's your life though and I am no your mom, guru neither I did research.

Ciao

You make a good point! I was seriously thinking of quitting the thread in February but when Maria showed up, it gave the thread new life. With her gone, there isn't much going on here. CO2 and I both talked by phone just before Maria departed and we both decided that this thread has served it purpose, I currently have 4 people on ignore and I'm getting sick of the whole thing.

Maybe I'll just quit posting here. I think I'll quit for a week and then check back in, if the thread is dying, I'll just let it die. It has to end sometime and now is as good a time as any.
Lakey

I'm afraid I utterly fail to get the significance of whether a thread lives or dies. Maybe someone will enlighten me. The way I see it, somebody starts a thread, and eventually the subject gets exhausted and it dies a natural death. Someone may, at sometime in the future, bump it with a post and give it a temporary new lease of life, but eventually it will run out of steam again.

The significance you have loaded this thread with is quite remarkable what with all the various statistics you have collected with respect to it. At the end of the day it's just a thread on a MB just like any other IMO, and if it dies, it dies. RIP.

Well, unless being the " OP" of thread is the most successful thing that one has ever had happen in their whole life !

Yes, Lakey, I guess we all can see that that's your main problem.

If you'd be willin' to learn and understand, you'd have it easier in life. But I doubt you have it in you.

Perhaps it is also time to spend more time hanging out with real people in the real world. Get into some activities. It's the summer, a good time to be out in the sunshine taking a look around.

Slight derail...

Just an observation-

There've been a lot of hookups on and because of internet msg boards among exes and others. Some, most unexpected.

So when I see attempts (successful or not) I'm rarely surprised. At this point, very little would surprise me.

Yes, you can never succeed unless you try, and guys have the hard part of doing most of the initiating and taking the risk of rejection. The trick is in noticing whether the object of your attempt is displaying interest or not, and moving on when no interest is displayed.

Women tend to get annoyed when guys they have no interest in keep hitting on them.

They get annoyed when guys they ARE interested in, have better things to do than to hit on them.

I guess it's tough to be a woman sometimes.

The woman has to have a sufficiently realistic self image that she accepts interest from good-quality guys that are interested in her and would commit to her, rather than wasting her cute years waiting for a Prince Charming (who is either not interested, or interested only in a temporary arrangement), and winding up old and bitter.

You're a very lucky person - you probably don't know how it feels when 2 gay men are trying to get your attention, scaring away the so-damn-cute female object of your desire. Yes, BTDT. :bigcry: :sadangel:

You just have to know how to make your disinterest very clear, without being so blunt you risk winding up in jail. :whistling::whistling:

Try being a human being and making some sense. Okay, no more comments from me on Maria leaving the thread. Vent against me all you want. I just don't give a sh_t. I did what I thought were the right things to do. There's no more to be said unless the scene changes. If I had the whole thing to live over again, I would do exactly the same things.
Lakey

Okay, lkwie, have a seat, and I'll illuminate it for you. You tried for quite a while to get her interested in you, which she wasn't. You didn't like or accept that kind of free-will. So, you called her "fickle" ITT. That's being a dick. You wouldn't do anything differently, and that's being a blind, stubborn dick. If you want things to be different, please avail yourself to the nearest mirror. Or, quit complaining and explaining as if it didn't happen like that. It did. FFS, you even typed "broke it off". There was nothing to break off, so quit trying to write your fantasy as fact. That's being a deceitful dick. Are we good now?

Have you ever met males who won't accept a "NO" for an answer? Not only females have, I sure have!

Oh, the curse of being a purely heterosexual gay-magnet.... :melodramatic:

Like I said, you just need to know how to say no, and keep reminding yourself that stabbing him repeatedly will only bring temporary satisfaction, and is likely to get you talked about.

Hey man, I'm 75 years old and am not rich. If an attractive woman even knows that I am alive, I am ahead of the game. One thing you missed in your fine write up above is that plenty of interest can be displayed by a woman towards an older man for friendship but not a romantic friendship. Nothing wrong with that but it is easy to construe that the interest is for a 2d when it is really only for a friendship. I have not devised a way yet to tell the difference. Late last year, I was going to lunch and dinner with an attractive Peruvian woman at work who was only 40. She called me on a Saturday morning and said enthusiastically, "I want you to take me to Laguna Beach and then walk the beach with me, have dinner, see a movie and then take me dancing. I thought she was making a reach to start an affair with me. It turned out we did all those things except the dancing but it was all Platonic, not for romance. She had broke off with her boyfriend a month or so earlier and was just tired of sitting around the house and wanted to be taken out by a man, any man. One consolation, however, we went Dutch treat, she made it a point to pay her own way so that I would not claim that she owed my any favors. I enjoyed the evening, definitely a lot more fun than staying home and watching TV.

As far as taking rejection, there again, at 75 it is not so hard to take as when a guy is a young stud. There are plenty of women in their 70's who would be eager to date me romantically but I'm seldom interested. I try and go 14 to 20 years younger. My ex wife is 14 years younger than me and that marriage lasted 29 years.

What can I tell you, the 2d is a tough area for most men and women as well but as one gets older the parameters tend to change.

Maybe a good starting point would be to know how to tell the difference between an acquaintance and a friend. That's what you were, an acquaintance from a forum, not a friend. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Maybe something can be learned.
