Time to say goodbye

Thank you FTS. That means a lot coming from you.

I mean it. Though I think you were confused about who really had your back at times. Understandable though.

I remember one thing you wanted in the early days was for people to “graduate ESMB”. Many of us have and you deserve that too.

So much has changed since 2007. There was only ESMB and OCMB (I don’t count a.r.s) standing as little beacons of hope, connection and information in the dark scientology shadow. And the ESMB beacon is the only one that had the staying power. Now there are many more small beacons like the Aftermath Foundation popping up and the baton gets passed. It’s the nature of life. OSA may think they have hit the jackpot but they are as delusional about that as everything else in the bubble poor sods.

What is most precious here are the stories and I’m so relieved they will be archived and available. And the friendships and connections that have long ripple effects.

Don’t worry, it only takes a few weeks to get used to not jumping on the board before your first and after your last coffee and multiple checks per day and having part of your brain always unavailable for anything else! Even if there is sadness, there is a sort of relief as well. We all did what we did and the next chapter starts.

PS I just noticed that I joined on September 30th 2007. Weird!

What a wild ride ESMB has been. Landing here was a journey, one I hope many have taken to untangle from $cientology. That in itself makes ESMB a unique resource of wisdom and togetherness for Ex's searching for answers. Credit where credit is due to Emma and Ethercat and the Mods keeping the board up and running these many years. And credit to all of the Ex's that shared and understood what it is like trying to get your bearings making sense of it all.

I never shared my story here. I will share this. I was introduced to $cientology at a very young age. Speaking from personal experience a life built around $cientology and all of Elcon's cult-think is a disaster waiting to happen. A house of cards that inevitably will come crashing down hitting rock bottom. And rock bottom was a brutal hard lonely place. In a way it was the best thing that happened (in hindsight) because that started me on the path of albeit slowly questioning all things Elcon. A lot of cognitive/emotional dissonance along the way but that's to be expected I suppose. My point is the cult glue began losing its adhesiveness enough to actually come to an Ex board full of "SP's." 10 years later and I can say without a doubt landing here was the right choice.

Thanks everyone for the conversations and insightful offerings. I wish everyone a beautiful post-cult life.

Thank you for all you have done. This board certainly is unique, a place where ex Scientologists can come and hang out without fear. It is and was a good thing but I guess this good thing has an ending. Well, that's life. Good luck and be happy.

I have enjoyed my short time here and will continue to enjoy my time here until the very last day. It has been great to post with others who have been through the Scientology experience, it sure saves time having from to explain every stupid Scientology term or concept.

I'm not sure everyone knows how much work you've put into ESMB over a decade. Seeing you kind of outed yourself already it feels ok to say this. You worked tirelessly for years managing threads, merging threads, refiling threads so that the board was well organised. Year after year. The only reason ESMB has some semblance of order is because of you.

Every day since my discovery of ESMB, I came here to fill up with new stories and every day I also hoped to read THE news: the war is over, Scientology no longer exists!
So it is not here that I will read it....

It doesn't matter, I'll live this news one day!

Thank you for providing this forum all these years. It was essential to my transition from Scientologist back to a human being.

I know it's hard for you to walk away from ESMB but you don't owe us a thing. In fact, we are indebted to you for providing & maintaining ESMB. It would sadden me to think that you cannot cleanly walk away and get on with your life, so go enjoy the rest of your life!

Grandbabies make getting older worth it. Hope you have a few in the not too distant future.
