A restaurant and musical experience.

Restaurant review - I chanced to dine with a friend the other night at a sort of a cabaret in Hollywood. The place is near Sunset Blvd. and Vine St. and offers gourmet dinners of very high quality at reasonable prices, around $15, and features tremendous entertainment. They feature a jazz trio of musicians in house, a fine jazz pianist, a string bass player and an acoustic guitar player and then the singers come from two sources. They have professional level acts which they book who do singing or join their little combo with instrumental solos. Then the trio takes a break for about 25 minutes so that you can talk with your friends and then the trio comes back from break and certain people in the audience sing. These are not random singers but the management of the cabaret knows them and they are regulars.

The first hour of performances was to my mind, "world class" A lovely young woman of 19 was the first singer. She was very tall, at least 6' and then wore perhaps 3" heels as well along with a mini skirt, quite an imposing sight and then she sang like an angel and specialized in hits from the late 1920's. The first song was very familiar to me, I think it is called "Heartbreaker", not the Elvis song but the 1929 version. The girl was a bit nervious but never missed a beat. Her voice is very beautiful and with her height and good looks, she could go very far. Her second song I believe is called something like, "Ya gotta do right by me." It is very famous from the late 1920's and was made a top recording by a famous black female singer of the era, Bessy Smith I believe her name was. The opening lyrics are, "You made a lotta money 1922, but let some fluzzy make a fool of you." It states, "you gotta do better, you gotta do right by me."

They had a sax player do a great Sax solo and improvisation with the trio on the song "Autumn Leaves." and then his wife, a singer with a powerful voice joined him for an encore of singing a jazz version of Autumn Leaves. A young man of Lebanese heritage sang a fantastic song he composed with extremely original lyrics. The lyrics had a lot to do with the meanings of life and smacked of being inspired by Eastern Religions. I thought he was excellent. For you Old Timers, he reminded me very much of "Poetry by Candlelight" which they had everynight a CCLA in the 1970's.There was also a largest group of Japenese young people there who sang. They were all enteraining.

I arrived early to meet my friend and there is a nearby Starbucks where about 3 chess games, using chess clocks, were going on with crowds of 6 or 8 people watching each game. I watched a chess game for about 5 minutes and also heard some very stimulating conversations taking place while sipping a cup of coffee.

Tucked away in suburban Orange County, I don't get up to the big City of L.A. much but there is a lot of life going on up in L.A., especially places like Hollywood, the Sunset Strip and Fairfax Blvd. Being in that restaurant was was like a time and space warp to me, it felt like being in New York City, perhaps in the early 1970's. When the tall, young singer was singing, the time shifted to the 1920's and another of the top singers created the look and sounds of the 1940's. Oh yes, another slice of life, two young Latino girls were in the parking lot, trying to get people to sign petitions for the next ballot in California to keep school tuition low and to not cut college services. They were around 18 years old and were students at Los Angeles City College which is a huge 2 year community college. The papers they wanted me to sign were for only L.A. County residents so I told then I could not sign. No problem, they started a new page for Orange County residents. I told them that Orange County was noted for being conservative and voting for Republicans. They rolled their eyes in amazement and then said, well you have go to be for not cutting school services, you just have to be for that. I said, I would tend to be for that but I would have to hear the other side before I signed anything. They looked disappointed, so I said that I wanted this to go on the ballot for the voters to deicde even though I don't know how I would vote yet so I will sign to put this on the ballot. I signed and made them happy. I told them I took two courses at L.A. City College and they were amazed and asked how long ago and I told them I took German there in 1967 in night school. They were probably born in 1991 or 1992 so to them 1967 represented a real, real long time ago. They asked why I took German and not Spanish and I told them I already knew a lot of Spanish and they asked me to prove it so I started talking in my limited Spanish about my job. They started laughing and then left me looking for new sign ups.

Its amazing how much life is going on in the heart of a big metropolitan City like L.A.. In Orange County, the cities are more sterile and up until recently the beach towns were the only places with night life. Now, with the rise of these new lofts being built in all the City Centres with a shop below and perhaps 4 to 6 floors above seriving as loft type apartments, the centers of many Orange County cities are starting to have night life. Downtown Fullerton (population 135,000) in O.C. is about a 1 mile square area and they now have 65 restaurants and bars there and an outdoor promenade. On even the week nights, the area is packed with night life. The City of Santa Ana, the County Seat of O.C., can save you a lot of driving, if you feel like driving down to Tijuana, Mexico. Santa Ana is a fairly large city of about 340,000 and being in their downtown is virtually equivalent to being in Tijuana. I don't think any English is spoken down on 4th St.. Everything is in Spanish, the signs included. If you go into a store and talk English, they all know it and you can get by but you hear very little English down there. They have the guys pushing the same ice cream carts which they have in Mexico, the same taco and tamale vendors, everything. If one was taken blindfolded and left down there, they would swear they were in Mexico.

Fun night out on the town, I love L.A.!

Yep, mixed use development is the coming thing in all urban areas here in the southland, with retail on the bottom and living space on the top...

Sorry guys, I'm still dealing with breathing issues, bit of a slow recovery here for me...but nil desperantum! (Never despair! :coolwink:)

Lakey, I will tenatively say yes to a March gathering, to give Alan a good send off and honor him from the west coast, celebrate St. Paddy's day, the return of Spring, etc. Still under the weather here, but this won't last forever...

Lakey, I'm so glad you're getting out more. More social fun and play with others will open up and expand your world! :happydance: Do more!

The new endeavor (lead abatement certification) sounds productive for you and other members here who can do that in their locales, too. Props to Carmelo for sharing the info, and being a leader! :) Lakey, don't you think our friend KV could benefit from this as well?

As a life long academic, can I just say that University isn't for everyone, but that I think everybody can benefit by going to either a good community or local college or trade school to learn some skills and self knowledge beyond high school level, the amount to be determined by each individual's needs and abilities.

I would advise any college bound student these days to live at home, work part time, and go to community college for their AA degree, then go to a state college to finish their B.A. or B.S. (And take advantage of ALL scholarship sources).

The first two years of college, Lakey, are designed to be general education or "liberal studies", to give students a good grounding in the basics to go on to specialize in some area of knowledge, and to help them to learn what areas of knowledge they really are drawn to or talented at...

Statistics about earning power, health and longevity, etc. are tied to college graduates vs. high school or equivelent...not looking at students who merely attend college to please their folks and party, get laid, etc... and then flunk out or drop out, or graduate with a nothing degree after ten years...

Yes, it is possible to have a wonderful life and do well in all ways without a college degree, but often that fact is pointed to by folks who ignorantly cut themselves and their children off from educational opportunities due to their own fear, selfishness, greed or need for instant gratification, etc.

Real education is a lifelong ongoing experience...and not dependant on academic degrees. Having said that, I am appalled that our state had a world class public education system that has been almost totally destroyed in my lifetime. As a professional educator, this has been very painful to witness and experience.

We took part in the national day of action here in my town. The whole game of education is a very sad scene right now...

Leon, do you like the term STs better than BTs? I do. :)

Rog, you have not been in some of the same tents I have been in, or maybe this is a west coast thing...that understanding of spiritual contact and communication is widely accepted here...(helps if your genetic entity has Celtic ancestry :coolwink:) Visual imagry works for me...and how rude NOT to communicate with them! :coolwink: Carmelo, glad you are re-gaining groud there.

Lakey, the new friend sounds a.o.k. to me, we will plan a get-together when he's here in June. I'm totally o.k. with anyone who practices in the field, not so much with anyone still enslaved by an Org. His previous Scientology education sounds very similar to mine (I'm a total squirrel, and proud of it! :)).

Meanwhile, I am busy reclaiming my dominion over my lungs...:D
All will be well, in time!

Good to hear from you!

Yes, it is a nice trend in, especially in the medium sized suburban cities such as Fullerton, (pooplation 135.000). Think how nice it would be to walk downstairs to your office and not have to drive the freeways every day.

Sorry guys, I'm still dealing with breathing issues, bit of a slow recovery here for me...but nil desperantum! (Never despair! :coolwink:)

Purple is leaving March 19 for Texas so if we are going to do March, it should be done before then if possible. Probably up in L.A. or out near the Marina area. S & L, do you think it would be possible to recover our previous mystery guest who was going to appear last time befoe you got sick? If he will come, I won't mention any name publicly but just let a few people know he is coming by phone or email.

Lakey, I'm so glad you're getting out more. More social fun and play with others will open up and expand your world! :happydance: Do more!

I appreciate the kind words but I am 70 years old, if I don't already know that by now, there is no hope for me.

The new endeavor (lead abatement certification) sounds productive for you and other members here who can do that in their locales, too. Props to Carmelo for sharing the info, and being a leader! :) Lakey, don't you think our friiend KV could benefit from this as well?

I am not sure who KV is. Give me a more detailed name.

As a life long academic, can I just say that University isn't for everyone, but that I think everybody can benefit by going to either a good community or local college or trade school to learn some skills and self knowledge beyond high school level, the amount to be determined by each individual's needs and abilities.

This is well and good, but what about the point Carmelo made and I agreed wth about high level contacts being able to be made for life at the more prestigious schools such as Stanford and Ivy League Schools?

I would advise any college bound student these days to live at home, work part time, and go to community college for their AA degree, then go to a state college to finish their B.A. or B.S. (And take advantage of ALL scholarship sources).

That is sure true. ESMB is a tremendous learning institution. What can be learned on this Board is unbelievable! Plus one gets to contribute some learning to others!

We took part in the national day of action here in my town. The whole game of education is a very sad scene right now...

Leon, do you like the term STs better than BTs? I do. :)

I was looking at my ST's and spotted some and it was a huge "mutual admiration society" They love me and I love them. The other day, driving home from the cabaret which I describe above, I was being stopped at every traffic light and so I implored my ST's to keep the lights green for me as much as possible. It seemed to work, after that, I went over 5 miles without stopping for a light but it could have been caused by other factors. Anyway, I thanked my ST's for their effort. We were just one big happy family driving down the boulevard late at night. We were mocking up a big and wide space for my truck to roll through with no traffic lights. I started to drop in tone and located a BT who was protesting. The BT did not like me and was protesting all the fun I was having with my ST's. I listened to the BT and gave a nice acknowledgement and it blew. The BT probably went looking for someone who was driving a more luxurious car. Fun and games on the freeways and byways of life!

All will be well, in time!

Please hurry up and get well, we need you here! Tomorrow I am driving up to Santa Barbara to visit my daughter and her new boyfriend who I have not yet met. My ST's and I are looking forward to the trip. I have satellite radio in my truck so I get perfect reception of about 150 channels all the way up the coast to Santa Barbara. The trip is about 140 miles each way. My ST's and I are all music lovers. One thing with being aware of your ST's, you are never alone. It's all one big happy family and they don't need food, lodging or bathroom breaks so they are ideal traveling companions. Added yesterday evening - My daughter called to say its raining heavily up there and she forgot about a test this Monday which she has to study for so we reset for next Sunday.Lakey

My experience gives some insights of how things were when LRH was around and was even aboard ship on the Apollo in late 1973. The amazing things to me were the ineptness of the Sea Org in carrying out nearly all cycles I was involved in and the terrible waste of potentially valuable manpower.

I had been in the Sea Org for about 2 years at a Pac org in the Treasury Division and was very successful there and was holding down a fairly large area of responsibility and out of nowhere, I was ordered to leave my Org and become staff on the Apollo. I was excited about going "to work with Ron" and felt that destiny was calling me. On the downside, a large hole was left in the staff of my Org which, of course, was eventually filed.

I had assumed that the Apollo was an Org of the elite OT's of the world and would be run totally on policy, expecially with LRH on board. I was a Dianetic Completion and Grade IV release at the time so I figured I would be low on the totem pole but I was eager to learn and fit in. I thought that at this top management Org on the planet, there would be high comraderie and almost a feeling of being in an elite brotherhood. Two months of being there thoroughly disabused me of my naive attitude!

From the beginning almost everything went wrong. All cycles, small and large were mishandled. To shorten this story, I will list the outpoints rather than do a narrative of them.

1. Arriving at the Lisbon airport, I called a secrete phone number I had been given and made contact with the Apollo. I was told that a driver would pick me up in about 1 hour but it took over 6 hours for him to show up! It was so deflating being kept waiting for 6 hours in a small room at an airport and then receiving no apology from the driver or anybody else.

2. Routing on I had one suitcase and a box with all my OEC Volumes. I was told that I was to be posted in Treasury and to leave my suitcase down in the berthing area and my box of OEC volumes in Treasury division while I went on my routing form When I got to Treasury, I thought I would be welcomed eagerly by my fellow staff, since I would probably lighten their work loads a little, but instead I was given the cold shoulder. No one would talk to me and looked annoyed that I was there. Also, I was told there was no desk for me and there was no place to leave my OEC Volumes. I set them on the floor near an unoccupied desk of a guy who was at study and went to do the rounting form. I completed it in a little under 2 hours and went back to Treasury but my box of OEC Volumes was gone. No one there showed any interest in helping me find it and knew nothing about it. They were busy and did not want to be bothered. As it turned out, the Volumes were never found. I looked in the courserooms and the Qual Library and they were gone. Maybe someone threw the box overboard, I would not be surprised. I had paid hundreds of dollars for the entire set of OEC volumes.

Lakey, I'm here. I've just read this much and my jaw is already on the floor!! Doesn't sound like the Apollo I was told about for all these years. I don't know what my condition is going to be by the end of this page! :omg:

Thank you for starting to read this thread, IMMORTAL !!. You are already exchanging in abundance, last night you wrote that in 24 hours you would be here but you showed up in 1/3 of that time!

IMMORTAL is an OT VIII, who just very recently began posting on ESMB. Her initial posting as a newbie caused quite a stir and attracted quite a response. I was an early responder and lo and behold, everyone of the many who responded to her opening thread received a reply from her. She then started a thread called CAN WE TALK ABOUT PTS TECH? It was on this thread just in the last couple of days that we really got to know each other! When I say really, I mean it in CAPS, "REALLY".

She has many extremely admirable personal traits and humbly, I claim to share a few of them. I have a full reality on her and where she is coming from. I wrote her some of the best posts which I have written. Basically, these posts are acknowledgements for her achievments, for her decency in answering every reply which she receives, for the overall quality of her posts and for just being who she is and not adopting a lot of complicated valences.

Don't forget she is only recently out from the C of S and is still in very good standing over there, and she took the big step, a courageous step of posting on ESMB and doing it in a hearfelt manner with total sincerity, not holding back any of her deepest feelings. What really impressed me was that she used the gains she received from the PTS / SP tech to question the usage of and the efficacy of that very tech itself and ditto with what she gained from OT VIII, she used those gains and stability to question goings on inside the Church. I was very impressed and let her know it with big high affinity TR 2 acknowledgments. Well, I knew these acknowledgements would be appreciated by her but was not preapared in the least for the effect they had on her. They caused huge beneficial effects for her as she was kind enough to inform me and her doing so, in turn, caused huge beneficial effects for me. I told her a little about this thread and urged her to come over here and read this thread and start participating with us by writing her fine posts. She said she was busy but guaranteed she would be here in 24 hours but showed up in 1/3 the time.

I am confident we will all have a new friend here, and another person of high character and keen mind to share incites with. So with all that now said, I welcome IMMORTAL to our thread !!:happydance:

Mike G. was one who was always in LRH's good graces, but nevertheless told me
that he had to leave the Apollo as he said it was crazy there. He became very upstat out in the field, but the S.O. continued to harass him and he finally gave up and left.

The one who got me started was on the Apollo, but left for vacation and
never returned.

Read Mayo's account of the Apollo.

the 3/50 project

I found this in Mendocino over the week end.

http://www.the350project.net/home.html

Think about3 independent stores you'd miss most if they were gone.

If just half the employed US population spent $50 each month in independently owned stores, their purchases would generate $42,629,700,000. in revenue.

For every $100. spent in independently owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. In a national chain, only $43 stays there.

Spend it online, and nothing comes home.

So ends Part 3. In part 4 I will described how I immediately paid my debts, did the conditions formulas and got back on course at CCLA and auditing lines at ASHO.

Ok, Lakey. Done with part 3. Moah later. :drama:

At least you weren't in the SO that long. I haven't read the rest of the story so, at this point, I don't know if you went back in or not. It doesn't sound like a picnic and there was some horror involved. But not like the SO of the 1990s and 2000s, just as you mention, thankfully for you. :drama:

IMMORTAL - I was a Newbie on ESMB when I wrote that. At the time, I throught that LRH's system was close to ideal and that DM messed it up. I wrote that part of my story to show that well, things were not perfect under LRH either but that it got much worse under DM. Later on, I was always changing, about how good or how bad LRH is, both as to the efficacy of the Tech and to his intentions for his public and his abilities as an administrator and in fact the validity of his entire Green on White Management System.

The story prequel at CCLA which came before the Apollo shows an advancement in my writing style. I think the Apollo chapters are well written and entertaining but the CCLA chapters are significantly better in both respects plus the story seems to appeal more to people. The CC portion definitely got more views and responses than the Apollo portion.

After the CCLA chapters, I planned on just ending off, We had less than 7,000 views then and there was not much more to say about my personal story. Two key people urged me to continue on and that was late last Novemeber. A game plan was hatched and the three of us pressed forward and now we have a large forum and just want to keep creating it.

For a new person, I would not recommend reading the entire 167 pages, that would take too much time for what a person would get out of it. There is a lot of fun stuff, much of it just particular to the Los Angeles area and some of it universal. That portion is informative and kind of fun.

One of my co hosts had some exposure to Knowledgeism was was derived by Alan Walters who had many years in working closely with LRH and went down for the count in Scientology during the Mission Holders revolt in the early 80's.

I am not at all informed on Knowledgeism but several of its top proponents post here. Roger B is their primary spokesman. As a regular feature of this thread, Roger and a few others, oddly many of them based in Australia, post on technical matters both Scientology and Knowledgeism. It is hard for me to participate in that because due to my lack of familiarity. To really get the feeling of what is going on here, I would go back to around Christmas time and start reading forward from there to see if you find topics which you are interested in.

We have several Class VIIIs who post here as well. There are some who had stellar careers on the Apollo, way before I got there. IMMORTAL, I believe you will enjoy the CCLA section of my story. How can you not enjoy it, I put my heart and soul and my finest writing skills into that story, it has some really good anecdotes. Also, it has a large sub story where I reveal for the first time anywhere exactly how Celebrity Centre got started. After my two segments, the story is no longer about me and other personalities emerge here. We have a core of what I consider some of the best minds on ESMB writing some of the most inciteful posting your will find on the internet. People come through here, stay for a while and go or stay for a while and stay permanently. I can not predict who will become a regular. All I can do is promise you some very good to excellent to super excellent posts to read. Thank God, we have not attracted any of the Joker - Degrader type of posters. One Joker type guy I wish would post here is Helluva Hoax. I get a kick out of his stuff. He and I PM a little but I do not believe he has ever posted here. Well, read and enoy and let us know what you think and above all add your own incites into our mix.

this thread

this thread is really a little of this and a little of that.

it is certainly not an all anti diatribe.

Mainly it is a representation of life after scientology using old tech, new tech,

no hard sell, no reging, no bs

having a good time

pulling no punches, but not being invalidative

a demonstration of "Life Enjoyment 1A"

Short Update

Dear Friends,

this is just a short update - to avoid the idea that I am dead or sick or have been abducted by space aliens :)

I am running several sessions per day on most days. Completed my students on their Clearbird TRs course 10 days ago. Busy translating the Clearbird materials into German. On ESMB mainly taking care of the IVy and Clearbird threads.

After my scouting the South for future options in mid February, I am headed for the North next - there is a "nest" of very upstat Scientologists in Copenhagen, who have invited me to a meeting. Also I will meet Clearbird for the first time in real life - I am very much looking forward to that.

I am dreaming of a "Clearbird training center", with him personally C/Sing the auditing of the next generation of internes. Here is a man who combines expert training (Class 8) with independent thinking and a deep passion for auditing, just the way LRH used to like it, BEFORE he came up with "rote" auditing as an undercut to the masterful freestyle he applied himself. There is also a PTS handling circulating and in use in Copenhagen which is vastly superior to the things we have learned in the CoS.

The mid May conference in Oslo I mentioned already.

Between all these things I'm trying to collect the money that my employer owes me, and I am still doing a parttime software developer job. We are coping on a mini budget from one week to the next. Good lesson for my spoiled sons who used to have everything including a cleaning lady - now they have to handle their own MEST and think twice about how they spend their shopping Euros...

It's not a very comfortable environment for me, as they are not yet wearing their hats - washing the dishes, cutting firewood, feeding the furnace etc. is always late, so I'm sitting in the office in a winter coat, but as long as they are learning and making progress, I am content with it. (I would need a father for them like Carmelo...)

I try to stay up-to-date on your thread here, Lakey, and can make it nearly every day, just couldn't make the time to comment. It is still interesting to read!

Thanks for the update!!

That superior PTS handling really sounds interesting. I would really like to know more about that - When you get a chance.!

Good to hear that you are reading it everyday. We miss you; well I can only really only speak for myself. but its just not the same without you posting as a "regular". Hopefully, you can resume doing so when you return to your more normal life style. You generate a lot of energy when you post on ESMB, energy I picked up when I spoke to you on Skype. There is lots of energy there of a very constructive nature just waiting to express itself. Well, we will be patient, appreciate any comments you can squeeze in and are glad you are reading this thread daily.

Have fun when you meet Clearbird in person and keep working with your kids, they seem to be learning more responsibility, slowly but nevertheless they are making progress.
Immer Deine Freund, Lakey

I'm still here!

Carmello - Excellent summary of what we are about!! I underlined the lines I like best. If we ever had stationary printed I would opt for, "We are your official course for a better life, - Life Enjoyment 1A" Below that we could place a Logo and one of your famous Avatars.

Hey, we're so diverse, and we all get along just fine! We even have our own pet squirrel (me!) :D.

I'd say in general we are a very uptone, theta bunch here on Lakey's thread, which is why we keep attracting such quality people! :happydance:

Carmelo, thanks for that little gobbet of economic wisdom, so timely. I do believe in shopping locally whenever possible.

Heidrun, I'd just like to chime in and say that I miss you too, but I know that you are being busily productive, and that's all good...keep in touch! The upcoming meeting sounds great! :)

Lakey, I want a report on the Santa Barbara road trip. I like your take on never being lonely when you and your teammates are all happy campers together. Now, now, you know who KV is, you ate with him! Don't say his name here! :coolwink:

I'd love to go somewhere beachy for brunch/lunch... I had some requests for a Sunday gathering as well as going on a Saturday, as that is easier for some folks to do. Any thoughts? Somewhere around Santa Monica or Newport? Crab Cooker? :D Mark A. Baker, any suggestions? I think the whales are running if we want to do some gazing out to sea...or maybe go with a St. Paddy's day theme? Any thoughts, eager eaters? PM me details, folks! :) It's an every expanding circle of friends!

Immy, welcome! Don't feel you have to read every word, just join in and play along with us, you'll do fine. I promise you will not be drilled on any of this material! :p I do like that this is kind of a history thread, can you add any interesting stories to our archive here? :) If you have not yet read it, the essay on "The Scientological Onion" is very useful in reconciling some of the cognative dissonance enjoined by really looking at the Scientology scene... (look, don't think!)

I am just so very grateful that neither of Lakey's kids got sacrificed/sucked into the Sea Org (scarey near miss there...)

O.K., all you guys who don't keep up with the news so much, if you haven't seen this yet, watch it!

Some of the interviews were done at the LA press conference. Much Love to the whole Anderson family, including Fiona, who is still loved by her family and will never be forgotten. I hope she wakes up and gets free soon, she will find many new friends and helping hands waiting for her when she does.

Spring is just around the corner, I've seen my first pair of robins, the peach trees and wildflowers are blooming, and the weather is a tiny bit warmer...Ah! :happydance:

Lakey, I'm gonna pull in Helly if it's the last thing I do! I thought he had already posted here?!? Did I just dream that??? I'm gonna go get him...

"Anybody, who hates little kids and dogs, can't be all bad."

but seriously folks (Lakey, who used to say that?)

It is pretty much my opinion that human children's basic game and identities are formed before age 3.

Short of massive amounts of auditing (both flow 1 and flow 2), education, and a cultural tsunami, the identity of a child is smelted and formed in the first two and a half years.

Back in the early 70s, I had a friend, who had divorced her husband, a Fortune 500 CEO. She had three boys. The middle boy saw his father for a week every year. He hadn't lived with his father since he was three. He grew up to be an executive with the same voice and many characteristics of his father.

Children take on their parents' characteristics. Unknowingly usually.

Welcome back S and Ly

Yes, sir! *snappy salute* Sorry, honey, no offense meant. :)

Welcome back Sandly, you are back at full strength adding "y's" and "ly's" to names to form nicknames. In response, I took an abbreviated version of your name, "S and L" and added a y to form Sandly. I thought I better mention this again for the benefit of our newer readers, such as IMMORTAL, now christened "mmy" and Hell of a Hoax, now christened "Helly". I see that Mark A Baker wants to opt out of the nickname game, okay, fine.

Well, Sandly, if you can still get a Koffee klatch set for March, do so. I think Newport Beach is out because of the distance, it is far for all of us and for poor Mark, I do not think the Metro Rail line runs out there. You know for somebody to travel from someplace deep in the Valley, say Sylmar, out to Newport Beach, that's got to be equivalent to a guy in New York City going all the way to "Philly" for a coffee get together, not too many people are going to show up. Let's face it, most people who live here in the L.A. area live either in L.A., the Valley, Glendale or Santa Monica areas. The best ocean area would be the Marina, Venice, Santa Monica region. Purple Haze will probably have to miss this one, leaving for Texas on the 19th but that's just the way it is.

By the way, I think Hell of a Hoax did post here once but only once and he did not create one of his funny masterpieces but was relatively serious. Well it is good, Sandly, to see you back being your normal self.

HECTOR - THE CCLA REGISTRAR
FOR YOU CCLA LOVERS, BIG NEWS - THE FORMER INFAMOUS REGISTRAR OF CC, HECTOR, JUST CALLED ME OUT OF THE BLUE BY PHONE! The last time I saw or spoke to him was probably in the early to mid 1980's. He only had 30 minutes to talk but we need probably 4 or 5 hours to get all caught up so we will talk again shortly. Two big SCOOPS from Hector

Scoop #1 - Hector has never written his exist story from C of S. He says he has limited internet skills plus he is not a good writer, I offered to help him write it and get it posted here on ESMB. He has accepted my offer. He says it is a juicy story that will hold people spellbound.

Scoop #2 - As many of you know, I did not arrive at CCLA until about 8 months after they opened for business, that is Yvonne Jentzsch and the mysterious Class 8 Auditor, who I dubbed, Tonto, who opened with Yvonne on Day 1. Tonto is the one who filled me in on the first 8 months but Tonto did only auditing and was not that familiar with the normal admin type activities going on with the rank and file staff during those early months. In talking with Hector, I found out that he was one of the very earliest non tech staff at the Centre and that he held several posts before he was appointed registrar, that two of his cousins were on lines and many other inside details. It looks like I will be able to add another Chapter to my Origins of CCLA story after Hector and I meet up and exchange notes. Just in our phone call, he already expanded my knowledge of the earliest days of that Org.
