Yes!

I think Franks realized early on that the whole operation was a pyramid, with field auditors and missions being the foundation that allowed the orgs to be viable. He may have realized it in his LA Org days.

The reality is that production happened IN SPITE OF Sea Org management, rather than BECAUSE of it. To be viable, an organization needed to be able to retain most of its Gross Income, and spend it on the things that are actually needed to allow production to happen. I would see orgs piss away many thousands of dollars per week on bulk mail being sent out to bad addresses. Nobody would want to do an address correction mailing and get the addresses fixed, because that would make the Bulk Mail Out stat go down.

Meanwhile, at the other extreme, a Field Auditor (back before they shut down most field auditors) could make his own decisions and spent no time on the phone being berated about his stats by some clueless dweeb a thousand miles away.

As I recently learned from Leon to properly say:

Hear, Hear Enthetan, Hear, Hear!

Master of Disaster
Thanks for this invaluable data, Enthetan. LRH's use of this viscious piece of his "tech" on me caused two things to happen as far as I am concerned. First, I found out he was not a God and could be wrong about things, This aided me in quiting C of S as outpoints began to really stack up and be exposed to my view. Second, for whatever its worth. I don't cut LRH any slack or special status when judging him. For example, his not properly turning over his various hats to the most competent people before he dropped his body. For whatever reason, physical illnes, mental illness, PTSness, a messed up case, whatever, he was not a big enough thetan to make things go right at his life's end and make certain that his beloved church carried forward in a vibrant and expanding form under a top charismatic leader.

Remember that policy, "The Supreme Test of a Thetan". Did he make things go right or didn't he? In LRH case, at life's end, he did not make things go right. Follow his own policy and you must admit that he failed the supreme test. Those are the cold hard facts and that conclusion is the only conclusion it is possible to reach if one is truly objective.

The only thing is that ESMB has introduced the concept to me that maybe it is carrying forward just as he intended and DM was his successor of choice.
Lakey

You are assuming one thing. You assume that LRH cared about what happened after he died. A heavily narcissistic personality would not care about anything other than what directly affected him, and so would have no interest in what happens after he dies.

So we have two ideas to make a choice from: either LRH was narcissistic, or he was incompetent. Or, third choice, the current state of affairs was indeed his choice, in which case option three is that LRH was evil.

Narcissism and incompetence are not mutually exclusive.

A narcissist will undermine himself in the most bizarre ways.

So my final answer...

LRH was narcissistic.

I think I'm gonna go take a nap

Facey, To Quote the famous song from the 1950's, "We belong to a MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCiETY, my Matey and me!" I love reading your posts and I'll bet I would have loved to serve under your command if you had been my Senior. TOUGH, yes by all means, but HUMAN and with COMPASSION for your fellow humans as well. I ran into a few such leaders in my action packed but short stint in the Sea Org of about 2 years and 2 months.

Some of the ones who fit that mold were Yvonne and Irene Howey Dirman at CCLA and Wayne Marple, Ken Urquhart, Stuart Moreau, maybe John Braggin and the very tall blond Jewish guy who was a Course Sup on Flag for the Data Evaluators' Course. I think his name was Dave Cohen (After the Apollo, he had a long career at AOLA). A person wants toughness in his leaders, but when the road gets muddy and the going gets tough, a certain type of leader will sit down with you and listen to you. You can sense that they have their full attention on you and they are there for you and really want to help and produce win - win situations. In fact as long as my leader or senior officer has that trait, I prefer he or she be tough and not too kind or overly friendly. Disciplined and controlled but with care and compassion, that is what a leader is all about. I would follow such a leader for a lifetime. Yvonne had those traits and that is why I stuck with her over the years despite the fact that she blocked me from being an executive at every opportunity she had. if I requested to talk with her one and one, she would always grant me that opportunity and turn her TR's upon me and the bottom line was that she cared about me and everyone else under her command and when she was listening to your problem or story, you knew she was really there for you and she had certainty that she would help you to solve your problem or situation.

Your are the second one to tell me I was lucky not to be the HU Purchaser. Apparently people on that post did not last too long. I can see that if the Purchaser got LRH the wrong product, a soap with a little scent in it, a piece of meat with too much or too little salt, or some Kool cigarettes with the wrong type of filter, that person would be shaken to their core by LRH screaming at them and probably having them busted on the spot.

I have nothing personally against Bill Franks. Its just that when I met him I was disappointed. I thought he had a poor communitcation cycle and weak TR's and I that he was pretty low on the tone scale. Mind you, I was only 4 months into Scientology and I just was not impressed with him at all. I did not fight him head to head or I would have lost big but I did an "end run" maneuver and ran around him over to CCLA and got Yvonne, who outranked him in every way, to instigate a transfer from his Org to her Org.

Lakey

That’s very kind of you to say, Lakey. I’m sure if we’d ‘a’ worked together and we’d ‘a’ gotten along just fine.

I actually was the “CO” of a few Orgs--and some other “stuff”--during “my time”.

I knew Irene, Wayne, Urq, Stuart and Cohen but I didn’t know Braggin. I liked them all…and you already know how I feel about Yvonne.

Franks was in chronic severe pain for years due to problems with his teeth…he finally had to take an LOA to earn the money to fix them. Yeah, I agree…his comm cycle wasn't always the best (sorry Bill, if your reading this…I know you had a lot on your mind…I did like your white shoes though).

What a horrible and tortuous waste of willingness and ability the SO “Medical” Officer “System” and Policy was for so, so many fine people. Gawd it pissed me off!!! So much false terminal, false tech and false exchange. I got so sick on the Ship one time I was afraid I was gonna die and after a week, I was afraid I wasn’t. I was really very ill. No Doctor…finally the MO gave me some antibiotics that worked…and I was, as you said Lakey, “high on the food chain.”

That’s just one of the things that just “eats at my soul” to this day…all the great people I met and worked with, all the willingness to serve and sacrifice, all the lives given up for a hope and a dream…and El Ron—and I know this for a fact—honestly did not give a shit for anyone or anything than Hisself and Hisself’s "little secret"...whatever the F it was. Oh, El Ron could feign “concern” and “caring” when it suited the current “apparency” of Hisself’s hallucinatory view of life and all of us, but that was one of his “strengths”…he figured out what was in our Hearts and how to play us against our own best interests.

So, are we all better off because El Ron was here? WTFK's! But one thing I do know...Life goes on and all of us are part of it...and methinks, personally, that is more than can be said for Hisself.

I consider he was a "bit" more complicated than that, but I agree that the capacity for being self-centered to a point of having an extreme disregard for others was a significant part of his make-up.

I did consider your point Enthetan but didn't state it well

You are assuming one thing. You assume that LRH cared about what happened after he died. A heavily narcissistic personality would not care about anything other than what directly affected him, and so would have no interest in what happens after he dies.

Good Point Enthetan! Actually, I did consider your point and thought I had covered that point in my last paragraph and that people would see it by reading in between the lines. I apologize for not being clearer. What I meant by stating that perhaps DM was his preferred choice was really that Hubbard decided not to do anything at all to appoint a successor and just allow those who wanted the job to fight it out amongst themselves and let the most ruthless and and viscious candidate win the post by dominating the other candidates. The most ruthless and most powerful successor turned out to be DM but Hubbard was not sure who it would be when he dropped his body and my gut feeling, just a hunch, is that he did not really care.

As a side note, it appears to me, again just a guess, that Hubbard did care about a successor perhaps in 1982 when he contacted Mayo about holding down the tech hats for 21 years until Hubbard would appear in a new body. He even had Mayo incorporate the Senior C/S office to try and isolate it from being manipulated by other parts of Scientology management. Hubbard still cared around 1982 when he engineered the takeover of the Mission Network, supposedly the last major actioin done by him. Perhaps being removed from the command line and suffering several strokes brought him down tone to the point where he no longer cared who took over.

One factor which should have made him concerned about who his successor would be was his long term goal to smash his name into the history books so he would be remembered long after Franklin D. Roosevelt was forgotten. If Scientology had gained more acceptance into mainstream society, his chances of being remembered would be greater than if Scientology became the butt of jokes. What name recognition and notoriety that Scn does now have stems mainly from the many celebrities who are Scientologists and this in turn ties back in to Yvonne Jentzch and her founding of Celebrity Centre LA. If CCLA had never taken off, I believe that Scientology today would be only perhaps 1/4 as big and influential as it is now.

A Personal Thing

I wish I could “come out” but not just yet. I’ve already explained why.

I hate to do this to you pal, but, I actually was at FCDC briefly sometime in the early to late ‘70’s. Good folks…good field…liked the “feel” of the place. Please don’t speculate on open board, OK?

I really wish I could do PM’s but, for now, it’s just not a good idea for me IMO.

There’s some stuff in your post I’m gonna come back to in the next day or so, if that's OK with you? .

It is a personal curiosity only. I respect your security fully, so don't worry.

A PM would be safe, but I understand being new here, you don't know me, and having to read many posts from someone to find out about them is too time consuming.

Anyway, I look forward to more of your posts.

Facey - You say it so well! I have put in bold print two of your best passages. The great people who were willing to serve and sacrifice their lives for a hope and a dream... How beautifully put is that phrase!!! Then spearheading this massive undertaking and hope is a narcissistic self centered egotist feigning caring about mankind and his loyal followers but actually taking over our lives, giving us a win here and there and yet working to destroy us and make nothing of us in the long run. We were all there only for his amusement, to toy with as he saw fit, and then ultimately he got bored or tired of us to the point where he used us up and discarded us into a trash heap.

As to whether or not we are better off because Hubbard was here, well that has been the subject of other threads and that point is violently debated. For myself, I know I am better off. However, I am not a typical Earthling type of person. I tended to be totally honest and never hold back any information and have or had no "street smarts" and am or was extremely naive and trusting.

For a naive person such as myself, I learned a lot of lessons in Scientology about how to be more successful and forceful in the societies of Earth. That learning effort is still going on here on ESMB and the lessons learned in Scientology helped me become more of a survivor. I did get something out of portions of the tech, both the training and the processing. Had Hubbard never come along, I think I would be nowhere near as happy and fulfilled as I am now. I would have had a quiet and long career in the aerospace industry, probably never would have got married or had kids and probably would have lived a lonely and boring life. My experiences in Scn, took all my money and cost me my aerospace career but put such obstacles before me which I eventually overcame that I became a better and much stronger person by living thirty odd years as a dedicated and believing Scientologist. My gains were not mainly made by applying Scientology principles but rather by learning to spot the sea of outpoints inherent in Scientology, to recognize the lies and incongruities inherent in the movement and to walk out of Scientology in pretty good shape and then connect up to ex Scientologists. For me I am definitely better off, for many others I know with certainty that hey are much worse off.

More comtemplations of Hubbard - His consistency.

Facey's third remark which I put in bold print is that one of Hubbard's strengths had to do with the fact that he figured out what was in the hearts of his loyal followers and staff members and knew how to play us against our own best interests. Based on Facey's observation I came up with the following:

HUBBARD WAS QUITE CONSISTENT - HIS FAMILY

He married young, had a Son in 1934, a daughter in 1936 and took off for New York City around 1938 to pursue his career as a writer, leaving his wife and small children living in his parents home. His small children at home seemed to concern him very little if at all. In New York, Hubbard engaged is numerous sexual affairs, though married with small children. He never had any remorse or regrets about this. In 1946 he had a bigamist marriage to Sarah, had a child with her and ignored that child and later disowned her and said she was not his child. With Mary Sue, he did somewhat better for many years but ended up abandoning her and that entire set of children as well. It is all very consistent, no real commitment to his wives or children except perhaps Mary Sue for several years and Diana for several years. In the long run, they were all pretty much abandoned by him.

HIS STAFF AND HIS FOLLOWERS

He had the smarts and the personality to attract top level followers. He appealed to their deepest decency and good motives and was able to get them to sacrifice their lives for his stated dream of a Cleared Planet. He took their loyality, their deepest commitments to help their felllow men and their sense of being in a Brotherhood where wisdom held sway and played upon these emotions, urges and feelings to milk them dry of all their money, all their goodness, all their energies, all their hopes and dreams for a better future and then threw them unceremoniously into the trash bin as "broken degraded pieces" in his game.

He wanted no second in command, no one to share his limelight and if such people arose, even though such a person paid full homage to Hubbard, it mattered not to him. If that person started receiving some of his limelight, he had him or her busted and kicked out. So went John Mc Master, so went Yvonne Jentzsch, so went Otto Roos, Alan Walter and others.

As far as where Hubbard is going from here, as a spiritual being, I can not see him making much progress until he comes to grips with the enormous pain which he has caused to those who believed in him and followed him unreservedly. Hubbard was very brght, had enormous charisma and charm and the ability to get things done and to mobilize people of high quality to follow him. Living the life he did, mainly based on lies and half truths and designed to crush other men and women in the guise of giving them help, I can not believe that he does not have an enormous amount of ammends and rehabilitation to do before he himself can have clean hands and a happy heart and bask in the "eternity" which he promised his followers and which they all believed that he had already achieved.

So, in closing, I say to Blue Spirit, the next time Hubbard sits in on one of his sessions, tell Hubbard to do some telepathy or telepathic writing here on ESMB, and let us know what he is up to and what he is going to do to make up for the pain and suffering which he caused so many of us - his former loyal followers.

Picture of Charlie Rush

He looks great for 65, if I didn't know better, I would guess that he had plastic surgery. Such a tight chin line and neck and such firm skin in a 65 year old man. What genetics he has - absolutely the youngest looking man in his 60's I have ever seen. Chuck Norris would be in 2nd place, he just turned 70 in March and he looks very good too.

If you ever want to break Charlie up start mentioning the pirate days back when the novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson was penned. My brother, a born stand up comic if there ever was one, bullbaited him for close to a month on that button and Charlie just could not flatten it. Imitate Long John Silver's voice and accent and he just totally cracks up. "Tell me where the treasure is mate or I'll cleave ya to the brisket" That line always broke him up as did mentioning Long John's pet parrot named "Pieces of Eight". Other hot buttons were Long John's eye with a patch over it (his deadlight) and his missing hand which was replaced by a "claw". Long John suffered both these misfortunes fighting in the service of George the third of England, "God bless his Soul" in a battle against a Spanish "Man-O-War off the coast of Tortuga. The movie "Treasure Island" stars Wallace Beery as Long John and that voice is guaranteed to crack Charlie up. I'll bet it is still not flat.

Robert Louis Stevenson stayed at our house in the 1870s. My great grandmother wouldn't let him sleep in the house. She made him sleep in the barn because he had consumption (Tuberculosis).

MRA - Moving Right Along

Back in the 21st Century.

This week in pre post depression USA, the clock is ticking till Friday to buy your first house or get your kid(s) into their first house. The $18,000 bonus given in California, stops being offered, if you are not in contract by Friday.

Our youngest daughter is making an offer today on a green (environmentally sensitive)condo in The City (San Francisco), it has a view of the Bay Bridge (the bridge where Benjamin Braddock went the wrong way to visit Elaine Robinson at UC Berkeley (even though the exteriors were UCLA), also the bridge that fell apart during the last World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland As -- something about an earthquake. And by sheer coincidence, the condo has a good view of ATT (formerly PacBell) Park, where the Giants play.

She’d like to get something that is a stable place to hang her clothes.

On another topic, we spent the week end driving to Northern California and the wine country to spend time in Africa. There is a 400 acre preserve called Safari West (safariwest.com) up in the foothills near Sonoma. We’ve taken the family a number of times. Getting up close and personal with giraffes and wildebeests (not really THAT personal) and rhinos and birds of every color and description is pretty exciting.

Although you are a little ahead of me in your LRH analysis, the entire post of yours seems to be quite true.

IF he had had the good sense to confront his Evil side with Otto Roos or another, things would have come out much better, I believe.
His overts were too continuous to squeeze in his auditing for a change of heart.
The Mini-LRH I've had recent dealings with, who tried to destroy me, is an amazing replication of LRH in miniature, a scaled down version of the entire valence package, so I have had (unfortunately) a perfect laboratory to study LRH. The tone level range of either being is -8.0 up to -1.5, with social tones somewhat higher, typically 1.1 and higher as needed.
A despicable situation, for sure.

I asked someone recently who has a direct line with LRH, what LRH's strategy
is. He just chuckled and said that he has none. The ultimate betrayal.
I'll be getting together with him again soon, and after asking some more pointed questions about LRH, I will post the results, as well as a full analysis
of LRH, if you have not already beat me to it. It depends on what I find out,
but in any case you will get credit for what you have done above, which is damn good analysis.

I do very much agree that LRH has a mountain of amends to do, and I am interested in communicating that to him, but not sure I'll get the chance, as I was a bit "uppity" before and he hasn't been around since.
He does have a lot of case to resolve and am not sure he has the reach to do it. Some have helped, but without the reach against the mountain of overts, he may not get there. He needs ACW's help.

Blue - Thanks for validating my analysis of LRH and where he is at. I am glad we are tracking well together on this topic. To be honest, these are only my opinions, I don't have anything particularly unique or any special inside information to put this theory together. There is a lot of data available on the internet and one tries to put together a mosaic of information similar to a mosaic of tiles.

Somethimes, I just sit back and let my fingers do the typing. The ideas come out with very little thought or effort involved. Sometimes, a person will say something new that I haven't thought of, perhaps, Facey, Roger, Leon or yourself and that leads to a re evaluation and some new text forthcoming from me. Its a real fun game to play. I wish I could do this for a living.

When I first read the Otto Roos story, it was all 100% new data to me. The thing that was most revealing to me was trying to visualize LRH just shiny and beaming and totally cleaned up. He would be expected to get up on a stage and say his thank you's the way the rest of us did, You know we said, I thank my auditor, I thank my C/S but most of all I thank LRH.

After having his case handled by Otto and his team of Class XII's, Ron would have been expected to go up on stage in front of his followers and thank Otto Roos and the team of Class XII's for assisting him in sorting out his case. Probably Otto and the XII's would have received hip hip hoorays. In looking realistically at this scenario, I could see that never in a million years would LRH allow something like this to happen. I saw right there that he would never share the limelight with another person and give them credit and thank them for helping to clean up his case. I think his preferences would be: to remain with a messed up case and yet be Source - 99.99%, to have his case totally handled but have to thank someone else for helping him - 0.01%. IF HE ALLOWED ANOTHER OR OTHERS TO HELP HIM HANDLE HIS CASE, HE WOULD NO LONGER BE SOURCE, THE CREATOR BUT WOULD BE ADMITTING THAT HE COULD ALSO BE PLACED AT EFFECT. To stay SOURCE was everything to him. There was no life for him if he willingly allowed himself to be placed at effect. Once I saw those pictures and tried to visualize him before an audience thanking Otto or any other person for helping him, I then saw that his entire personna was based on him, with the aid of his guardian Angel, always being at CAUSE and when he could no longer be at TOTAL CAUSE, he would then be dead.

If you accept this premise then the rest of my theory just falls in to place.

Oh yes, the beautiful cat is ours, it is a female which we have had for 1 year now. My Son is friends with a former customer of mine out in Huntington Beach. The cat lived with a family next door to this friend. The cat's owners moved away and just left the cat behind to fend for herself. She was 2 years old and her name was "Bella" My Son's friend fed the cat daily but tried to find her a home because he already had a cat and a dog and they both rejected Bella and fought with her if she came in their house. My Son got our permission to bring the cat to our house and now we have had her for a full year. She has a very beautiful face, coat and eyes.

You are right again and it has been confirmed by the experiences with
Mr. Mini-LRH, who could not be the effect of anything regardless. It is a trap and a stuck outflow which ruins a being. Mr. Mini has had no auditing for 15 years (like DM) but needs it badly.

Here's an irony for you: when LRH briefly looked in on him, it was reported back through my interpreter that "He can't be reached now."
That is because of the compulsive controlling outflow, so as to never be effect whatsoever. Same as LRH. Auditing under that circumstance becomes impossible.

Additionally alcohol seems to be a factor in all probability, which really causes
fixed conditions that become rigid and change resistant.

It is the trap of all traps, of choosing to be in LRH's valence which appears as
"SOURCE" (GOD) but is actually a personality which you have well described.
Also just the fact of being out of your own valence (personality) is a complete stop to case gain in itself.

Lakey, since you had real case gain as opposed to LRH never getting his lower "Bridge" done properly, apparently, before doing lots of Solo OT auditing, as well as needing Expanded Dianetics to resolve his Evil Intentions,
I say to you that you have every right to judge LRH and his case.
More power to you.

In the end LRH trapped himself, as you say, by needing to believe the Absolute of "SOURCE",
when he was only partially that way at best.
I've been asked to write up what I know about other Sources of the Tech, on another site.

I don't know about having every right to judge LRH and his case. As I said earlier, because of those two postings he imposed on me when I was not hatted for them and no hat write ups existed and then removing me from post and busting me and finally for falsely accusing me of embezzling when I was already confused and downtone over being busted, I am just saying that man to man that gives me the right to criticize him. I do not have the technical experise to do so but as just one being to another, I do not feel any need to go easy on him or cut him any slack. I don't owe him anything more than I already gave him in money and service while on staff. Any gains which I made, whether real or imagined belong totally to me. LRH was already exchanged with sufficiently for his part in those gains.

I hope he has the strength to confront his past and atone for the enormous amount of unnecessary pain he has inflicted on others. Remember that old formula for potentail value, PV, which he published in the Dianetics book, something like PV dquals IQ x the strength of ones' dynamic to the nth power or some such formula? Well LRH has a very high potential value to humanity and it behooves him to get himself cleaned up and take his rightful place as a major opinion leader in society. The question is whether or not he has the confront to handle his entire case, including the need to receive help from others instead of just trying to own and boss others.

Where is Owning Others on the tone scale? Hubbard has "Owning Bodies" way down on the sub zero scale but has nothing for "Owning other Beings" or "Bossing other Beings". I have no idea where that would be on a tone scale but it has to be pretty far South and that's where LRH seemed to hang out most often from 1911 to 1986. The Nazi's were into bossing other beings and that lead to about 50 million dead and nearly all of Europe lying in ruin so the tone level is way below Death.

Yes, Blue, I appreciate the parallels between the smaller version of Hubbard who you had some negative dealings with. Maybe a more thorough understanding of Hubbard will help you in understanding mini Hubbard. I hope it works out for you!

Lakey and Blue Spirit,

Man, you guys are on a roll. Lakey your El Ron Consistency post is a nice piece of work.

Personally my opinion is El Ron is a goner and is as gone as a goner can get. The only thing of El Ron left to contact are remnant “energy” artifacts…kinda like the twitching tail of a long gone lizard.

I’m gonna put a post up in a few days stemming from Blue’s comment re: wrecking the Mission Network. Ya see, Blue, my view is that ransacking the Mission Network was merely the next “logical” step in a process that El Ron began in the early in life—a process that begat the Church, the Orgs, Saint Hill, the GO, Flag, the SO, the Admin “tech”, etc., etc.

My premise is all that “edifice” above is the artifact of El Ron’s desperate solutions to a horrid continuing PTP—“How do I continue to keep getting all the money, power and admiration I want for something I stole, continue to steal, lied about and can't actually personally do without being found out or going to jail?” And yes, I’ll agree that El Ron was absolutely brilliant.
