Housing fraud loans

I was just watching msnbc. Ratigan was interviewing William Black LIVE again. These fraudulant financial backing loans are about to explode into public view big time. The issue about there not having been any convictions for a racket this size is not sitting well. There were plenty of convictions in the Savings and Loans scandal. This is much bigger. If you replace some of the culprits their first order of business would have to be to find out what cracks the money fell in to. No one wants you to know.
In the Spring of 2007 I walked in to the local Bank of America in south Orlando. It looked like a waiting room in a clinic during flu season. Three generations of Hispanic families were gathered. There were housing loan pamphlets all over the place. I inquired as to what was up. I got circular answers.
There are programs to get all empty houses off the market. There are relocation programs. There are programs to get you another abode if your family size has gotten too big. These do not have to be made known to everyone. But surrounding the Orlando Intl. Airport and to a few miles north there were great quantities of real estate changing hands within a 2 yr period. A lot of the new owners made just above minimum wage. You almost always had to have a family to qualify for this great govt give away. These loans to get families into homes fast were unsubstantiated. WHO backed the banks up to do this at no risk to themselves? It's obvious to me...our Federal govt. Why? Because its sucking up making amends for stuff. Look at all the green money being given away. Some remote country receiving billions because its agriculture was its wealth and it did not put carbon emissions into the atmosphere. We can think of any reason to give away money in order to achieve political objectives. Nobody needs to know the real motivating ' why'.
I mean it when I say it was so obvious and no answers were forthcoming to observers.

Ya gotta be careful when some people have to play by the rules and some people don't.
When some people have to pay for mandatory healthcare and som e don't
When some people are mandated to pay child support and some aren't
When some immigration laws are enforced and others not
When some lenders follow the rules and others don't

NONE of these things could happen without divisions of govt allowing it to because it wants certain ends to be achieved. It's been one hand washing the other. Favors were gotten from the banks and the banks got free reign in return.
It's more likely a general amnesty will be given out than sentencing. Penalties will be levelled in the billions. We will be told that we have been paid back. BS.

I want to see the florida republican party demand the repeal of federal laws implementing special treatment for cuban immigrants. :whistling:

Mark A. Baker :coolwink:
p.s. Humans try to avoid complying with laws. It is the innate condition of humanity to think that laws need not apply to them, especially if no one else is looking. Hmmm, Hat? :eyeroll:

That would be ok with me. All the Cubans in Orlando seemed to have disappeared. They had no real ambassadors in local administrative boards that I can see.
And what law prey tell might I have broken when no one was looking?

Well now, seeing as I wasn't there, I don't know now, do I? :D

Based on your prior missives, I'd be willing to bet a fair few. :whistling:

Possibly even a few "laws of morality", if not even possibly "the law of gravity". :whistling:

Others have used this thread as something of a "tell all" for their personal sagas, care to amuse the assembled multitudes? Funny is good. Scandalous is better. :coolwink:

MAB,

I unfortunately see this as a little bit of a put-down of our Hats. I have appreciated your posts over the time I've been on ESMB, but lately and in this one, the "quality" has descended a little.

Hats has posted intelligently on this subject, and posted on her personal experience and observation in her neck of the woods and based on what we are now seeing in the media.

I have been too busy to post all the info I am getting on the "mortgage balls-up" . . . . you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Hats is correct. Banks like Bank Am worked the system unethically . . . they were linked to Countrywide Mortgage before the takeover (to save their arse and try and hide the violations of law).

There are several nuances on the why and how come of the housing crisis catastrophe . . . and it will get worse . . . but one of the key elements is that, with the invention of mortgage backed securities by the investment banks on "Wall Street," and with the largesse of Feddie and Fanny, it meant that unscrupulous "lenders" could lend without risk to themselves based on violation of both legal requirements and provisions of prudent lending standards . . . these companies who violated the historically correct standards and procedures could and where in a position to sell off their fraudulently written crap-loans to be packaged into the deceptively written loans to be packaged into the obscurative hoax product of MBS (Mortgage Backed Securities) that have now blown up in the face of the international investment community.

Hats reported on what she observed of the fodder who were being conscripted into the system . . . based on false pretenses to sign up for shit they could not/would not honor . . . but which provided the fodder for the MBS game and instruments that were foisted off internationally.

Yes, she is pissed at what she observed . . . and we should all be very pissed at what has occurred if we really care about our society as it is going to cause far more damage than has already occurred.

I suspect Hats, like me, has posted on this issue because she cares about her fellow ex-Scn buddies, and wants to inform them so they can get a grip of what is going down.

That is to be honored.

This isn't fully true.

I don't know what others get. Roy Selby said he charges. $100 per hour. That would seem to me to be rock bottom.

Most recently I've charged $150 for the grades.

Depending on what is needed and who (deep pockets, etc) i've routinely charged $350.

I've exchanged auditing for windows and roofing work.

The key is to get a practice going. You do that cheaply. You don't rely on it. You earn a living elsewhere.

Once people are knocking on your door, then you can raise your rates.

Don't ever ever let yourself get in the position where you need the work for $$.

Don't look for paying clients, as a general rule, in the ex scio community. Those folk have been through the ringer on low havingness, and don't want to part with money no how no way.

Very sensible advice I sort of followed with my decorating refurbishment
business.

Just to toss in a spanner of sorts its somewhat akin to Marx, or was it Lenin's, statement, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need".

Just to let everyone know you are a splendid and special socialist. :)

. ...I don't. I see it more in that light of a lightly provocative exchange, reference my post #8247.

Mark A. Baker

I don't know anything about Mark's socialism. I stay away from political posts generally. I have been victimized by crime several times in the last five years. I left Orlando to seek the security of my family as I did not want to continue living alone. Big mistake. Shoulda bought a dog.

I think Mark needs to get laid. That's what I'm pulling out of the ethers. Or rather fishing out...I don't think he has a mean bone in his body. Well, uh..:D
Thanks Rog for trying to rescue me though.

Mark is a very sweet and smart guy, with excellent TRs BTW. I think you're right about him needing to get laid.

You know any likely prospects?

I keep the mean bones elsewhere. Nor am I especially socialistic. That rumor stems from those who have learned to parrot what they hear on Faux News, and other similar sources of widespread ignorance. It is well to remember that Faux is the only news outlet in the history of u.s. media to argue in open court they they have no obligation to report events in a factual or truthful manner. :eyeroll:

In fact I'm of the view that the casual bandying about of the word "socialist" by all & sundry of late is another obvious example of the sort of lazy mentality which substitutes jargon for thought. I've yet to hear or see recently, either on network media, the political boffins of the internet, or assorted blogs, etc., an intelligent remark made which contained an accurate use of either the word "socialism" or "socialist" with regard to a nation, economic policy, or person. So much for the "wisdom of the electorate". :p

Very illuminating post, 100% spot on. You added more knowledge to what I know but based on what I knew before, I couldn't agree with you more.

How do you describe your positions?

Fair enough on your post. To make the post more informative and complete its missioin, instead of only telling the board that many people are using incorrect terminology in describing your positions and other positions as socialist, could you aso please educate us and tell us what the proper terminology to describe your positions is?

For example, centrist, left of center, mainstream left, or some more suitable terms. I am serious, I would like to know how some one of your leaning perceives your own positions. If there is no general label that can be applied let us know. Give us something to go on. I, for one, would be happy to stop using the terms socialism or socialist if I am using them incorrectly. I am serious here, meaning well and not clowning around.

As far as your needing to get laid, I have no idea of whether that is true or not. I will say this, both times I attended functions where you and Candy Swanson were present, you always sat next to her and gave her an extensive back rub. Candy really liked it and was all smiles both times.

Doubt very much he's desperate enough to need our help. :p

Don't think he's desperate particularly. However he's a really good catch
for someone. We are supposed to be his friends you know. :)

The ideal is perhaps a dumb brunette who appreciates a polymath
and can pretend to be not dumb. Sadly for Mark the oxford grad and
movie hottie Rachel Wietz is taken.
