A little Yiddish humor from Mickey Katz - "16 Tons"

For Face and the others of you who like Jewish humor and Yiddish language stuff in particular, this Mickey Katz rendition of Ernie Ford's mega hit of 1956, "16 Tons" appeared on my youtube screen this morning.

Mickey is really hilarious with this one. Lots of good Jewish words relating to foods. By the way, most people know that "essen" means "eating" in Yiddish. It is identical in German and can be used in both languages as either a verb or a noun.

How about the word "fressen" which Mickey uses early in his song. Fressen means in Yiddish to gorge and just shove food in, usually eating mediocre food and/or just eating too much and too fast. I'm not sure about German. I am pretty sure it is also a German word and means the same thing but not positive.

Enjoy the Yiddish rendition of "16 Tons"

Thanks, Lakey. But too many words I did not understand.

As for that model at 0:31, I can understand that! Wowza! I just love that late '50s/early '60s style.

Hubbard touched on this kind of thing, and much more. Running incidents from the viewpoints of different terminals present at the time was an old Dianetic technique. I have no idea how long that technique was in vogue. For all I know it could have been just an idea that popped out of his gourd only to fade away by the end of the lecture. Had he slowed down for just a few moments to evaluate what had just shot out of his mouth or off his pen, he might have discovered some real value in the early stuff. I say that because others have found that value prompted by Hubbard's origination or having found it on their own.

I'll hazard a guess as to why he did not do that:

1. Frantically bringing new stuff to market to see what would bite with the public dollar.

2. Looking for a solution to his own case.

3. Seeking recognition from doctors, government, and such, then moving on when no recognition forthcoming.

4. ?

Making Clears and OTs was Hubbard's stated goal--true or not, it was stated. Had the focus been always on helping another being with own goals, purposes, dreams, aspirations, etc., tech and the evaluation of what is really important or not might have taken many different turns over the years.

Individuality exclusive of other viewpoints is a lie. We are each individual and we are not individual. Most pc's run their stuff from the individual POV unless prompted to do otherwise.

This is it exactly. It is what I was referring to when I said that using the same basic data that he gave out in the early days a completely different subject could have ben developed. And a far better one too.

Enjoying seeing everyone's pictures!

Hmmm. I'll have to post a few more of the pics we have taken. Glad you like them.

The Story of S&D John Mc Master

I would like to discuss the development of S&D for the implications it had in the subsequent development of scientogy technology. Had it not been designed the way it was, things might have gone a little differently.

Late summer 1965. The message read: Ron wants you to bring six of your best review auditors to his office at 5.15 pm today and would you get it all organised? When we were all there, he said that he had gotten us there for a specific reason, and the reason was to evolve a particular process which he wanted to call "Search and Discovery."

Now, in the processing that we were doing then, which was mainly the power processes and power plus, we were getting some cases moving magnificently fast, others sort of medium, and some cases moving very slowly.

He said there be some factor that was sort of impinging on these cases that were moving slowly, and this process was to be called Search and Discovery simply because it was to search for that which was impinging on the slow gain case and the no case gain, to search for this and then discover it.

And he wanted us to evolve a technology whereby this could be done
effectively.

Our Job

We got together and decided that it would be a good idea to have a listing
process to start off with on the search side of it, and then we would
discover an item.

We decided the listing question would be something along the lines of :"
Who or what is causing difficulty?":

We made a list and then we'd get whatever the item was, and then put the
item into a Represent (Who or what would the item represent), and then list away. If the item on the first list had been a person, one blew the charge off that person by getting the Represent our of it.

And on this "Who or what would item represent?" The PC invariably found a "What" in relation to his own behaviour or his own conditions of existence that got restimulated by the actions of the other person and caused what appeared to be the symptons of a "Potential Trouble Scource" as it was later called.

It was something the person had in his own makeup, his own behaviour
pattern, his own mental mass, that had a sort of magnetism for the behaviour of a certain person.

The other person did something, and this particular thing, in the whole
pattern of the PC, would cause an upset and prevent the PC from looking as clearly as he or she might look, from wanting to win, from doing whatever one was expecting the person to do.

Our Results

So we ran this listing process and the represent process, and we got what
we got , and took the results to Hubbard. And as I said, invariably it was a "What". And you cant declare a "What" that exists in the magnetic field of the PC to be a supressive person. There was a tremendous improvment in the PCs because they found out that in actual fact when they were so-called "being the effect" or "being supressed" by some one else it was because of themselves and something that they had that had compelled them to become the effect of the other persons behaviour.

But there there was another thing some of them found out. Some people found out that in their behaviour patterns they did things and behaved in such a way that they compelled the other person to commit suppressive acts towards them.

For instance , here's me. And, not during the auditing session but in my
every day life, I am doing something with a regularity that compelles another, who also has something in his magnetic field that my behaviour restimulates, to be suppressive towards me, and I am in actual fact causing it.

So there were two aspects that people began to find in this auditing:

1) they had something in their own space that got restimulated by another persons behaviour, and when they found that and blew it , they were no longer the effect of that persons behaviour, and

2) they were unknowingly doing something that was compelling the other
person to act suppressively toward them.

And everyone run on this process, with the listing and the represent, had
far more gain than is gotten from running up to the ethics officer and
disconnecting from a so called suppressive person.

We were really thrilled, because these people immediately after having had this kind of S&D process run on them , moved magnificently on the power processes.

Ron’s Response

We took the results to Hubbard, and he kind of hemmed and hawed and told us it was a little bit long winded and we could do it faster another
way. Eventually he changed the thing down to:"Who is suppressing you?", and it had to be a person. And when that person was spotted the PC had to go to the ethics officer with the folder.

The ethics officer then had to find out wether the person would "handle or disconnect" and in most cases the ethics officer decided of his or her own volition that the person was incapable of handling and compelled the person to disconnect.

Now if you look at the history of scientology from that point onward, late
summer-autumn of 1965, what was happening?

Suppressive people were becoming a reality and the ethics officer was
becoming an absolute necessity in any organization in order to safeguard
your technology.

Well nothing can safeguard technology better than perfect auditing. If you take the process and audit it perfectly, your technology is established. Having this via of darting around the corner to the ethics officer just gives the auditor an out. If he can't quite manage the PC or he can't quite manage the process, or he can't quite manage putting the two together, he always knows he can say"Well its OK; if I cant quite manage this then it becomes an ethics matter."

When a person was not moving as quickly as the person ought to be moving, they then had to have this S&D process, and then automatically it went onto ethics lines.

So then standard technology was very much involved with ethics; you
couldn't have standard technology without an ethics officer to handle these particular situations. So the supressive person became a reality and the ethics officer became an absolute necessity in order to have the tech working and standard.

The Result

So now the PC disconnects from this "Who"the ethics officer regards as a
suppressive person and yet still intact is the "What" that predisposed the
suppression in the first place. So the PC is still vunlerable to supression.

He disconnects, has a bit of relief, and mabye until the end of that
auditing intensive the PC is free from the impact of that other. But within
the makeup of that person, that which predisposes the PC to being supressed is untouched.

And the overt act of disconnecting from another, blaming another for ones own inadequacy, and the fact that one has this predisposition towards supression, compounds the felony.

The felony of whatever one has done that makes one vulnerable or
predisposed is still there, and that is compounded by the disconnection, which creates a heavy ARC break perhaps not only with the person being disconnected from, but with all the people to whom that person is connected.

So now you have the compounded felony. That auditing that should have been run out right there and then, is now being covered over by another overt act, the act of disconnection. And what does that do? It causes the
prolongation of that condition which predisposed the PC to supression in the first place.

S&Ds, such as they are run now, do not give the permenant relief or release from anything. What they do is prolong the agony of potential supression. So far from setting a person freer, they are in actual fact burying, and therefore prolonging the condition that predisposes and precipitates the supression.

This "standard technology" is in actual fact ruining the whole potential of
our aims and goals and purposes, because it is pressing out of sight that
which we were fortunate enough to have surface, that thing that is
predisposing the PC to feeling suppressed.

Suggested Procedure

It is a very healthy sign when some one you are auditing suddenly has
problems. So they say they're not making gains. So what? This indicates to you that something is in restimulation that prevents them from making gains and achieving their goals. This means you've got something right there and then, right at the surface, ready to be handled.

So you can do an S&D, but I suggest that you do it the way we did it
originally, before it was changed to a "Who" You might get this thing which has come into restimulation on the first listing, in which case it's gone.If you have to put it into a Represent list, well you'll get a whole lot there.

Now I didn't do this at the time, but it seems to me that you could then
put in a third question if you do a represent out to another item and you still haven't blown everything.

You could say "Now how do you use so and so to make yourself vulnerable to supression?" or a question of that nature. Then you have removed the predisposition to the suppression because that which was in the magnetic field of the PC that enabled the suppression to happen will never be there again, unless thePC puts it back. But it won't be the same one; it'll be another one.

So I hope this sheds a little light on the way an S&D could be run that
could give gain for all time, rather than this temporary relief by
committing an overt act on a fellow being on this planet at the same time
one is. It's not always such; sometimes one disconnects people out of
another time.

The Reality

However, this is just a vast Q&A with reality. The reality is that
somewhere in one's makeup is this predisposition to be suppressed, and when it is precipitated one behaves like a potential trouble scource. So, get out what's in restimulation and remove completly and forever the chances of being suppressed in that particular way.

That is how we started out on Search and Discovery, and how I feel it could be done even now. It's not too late, for Heavens sake! and we could get in and do the job properly.

FOOD, EDUCATION, AND HEALTH CARE

by Jacob G. Hornberger

Have you ever stayed up late at night worrying about whether there would be sufficient food in your community's grocery stores the next day? Paced the floor over whether there would be the correct quantities of food for everyone? Fretted over whether rich people would buy up everything and leave nothing for you?

Probably not. And the reason you haven't provides clues as to what we should do in the important areas of education and health care.

The free-market process of food delivery was brilliantly analyzed by a 19th- century Frenchman named Frederic Bastiat: "On entering Paris where I came to visit, I said to myself -- Here are a million human beings who would all die in a short time if provisions of every kind ceased to flow toward this great metropolis. Imagination is baffled when it tries to appreciate the vast multiplicity of commodities which must enter tomorrow through the barriers in order to preserve the inhabitants from falling prey to the convulsions of famine, rebellion, and pillage. What is the ingenious and secret power which presides over the astonishing regularity of such complicated movements, a regularity in which we all have so implicit, though thoughtless, a faith; on which our comfort, our very existence depends?"

Bastiat's observation is as appropriate today as it was then. I don't wish to frighten or panic anyone, but do you realize that there is no government department or agency in existence that plans for the delivery of food to your community? That's right -- it happens all by itself without any government plans, directives, or guarantees.

When you walk into the grocery store and see all those shelves filled with things to buy, no government planner has made it happen. No bureaucrat has sat at his desk and figured out "demand curves" relating every item to every person in your community. No government employee has calculated how much of each cereal, vegetable, drink, pasta, and the thousands of other things on your grocer's shelves will have to be produced to satisfy your individual demand and the demands of the other consumers in your community.

I repeat: It all just happens, all by itself, without any government planning or direction. Getting nervous?

The process is what might be called "the miracle of the market." Each night, every person in America can go to sleep secure in the knowledge that the next morning, his grocery stores will be filled with all the food that he might want to buy.

Suppose, however, that during the Great Depression, the U.S.Department of Food had been established to protect the American people against starvation and the vicissitudes of the market. Suppose that from the 1930s on, all grocery stores in the United States were government-owned and that no one had been permitted to own a private grocery store. There would, of course, be less variety and fewer choices with respect to groceries, but everyone would undoubtedly feel a sense of comfort and security over the fact that the government was in charge of the "public grocery stores."

Now suppose I came along and said, "I believe we ought to separate food and the state. Let's fire all the government food workers, sell off the state grocery stores, and turn the entire process over to the free market."

What would be the reaction of most people? "We can't do that. Food is too important an item to be left to the free market. How could we be sure that there would be enough food for everyone? What if one city didn't receive any
food and another received all of it? What if grocery stores forgot to order food one day? For that matter, what if no one opened grocery stores in our community? What about the poor? How would they eat, especially when the rich would be buying everything? You place too much faith in the free market. This program favors the rich. The burden of buying groceries falls most heavily on the poor."

People would lack confidence in the free-market delivery of food because they would never have seen how a free market in food delivery had functioned.

Yet, when it comes to the supplying of food to hundreds of thousands of grocery stores all across America, people do have faith and confidence in the miracle of the free market. After all, when was the last time you heard someone calling for government grocery stores?

Now, let's talk about education and health care.

Mr. Hornberger is founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation in Fairfax, Va. (http://www.fff.org).

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING....I MEAN THEE MOST __ (IN MY OPINION)_ IS ADDING ANYTHING TO THE SESSION THAT DOES NOT BELONG THERE. Things are often telepathic between auditor and client. If you have some fixed opinion or criticism it will be picked up on in what should be a safe space. Guaranteed.

Any auditor is dealing with an individual who is letting go of rigid notions in an attmept to change things for the better. All the life force he is carrying around in fixed packages is 'softening up' ready to experience CHANGE. This gives the auditor extreme power in session to effect the PC by merely harboring strong considerations and postulates. ANYTHING projected at the client while in the 'soft' receiving mode is coming from 'altitude' as that much beingness has been granted the auditor.

The BIGGEST upset I know of is where the auditor cannot ALLOW a person to have his truth. There is a ridicule of that reality for the PC. All ridicule comes from one feeling like his collection of beingnesses are incongruent with that of another's. It's a clash of values, each challenging the rightness of others. Unfortunately, too many have stated that such unspoken conflicts felt in session have hindered there gains.

Examples:

PC says "There 's really no such thing as right and wrong really! " but he can feel it challenges the auditor's epiphany on the matter.

The PC goes release running inc of a Nazi death camp and sees all those bodies as he rises up as so much trash and starts laughing. The auditor is horrified as if the PC is SP and shows it because his father died in Auschwitz.

The person feels he is Clear because he got his Floating TA and all his ruds came back in during his last Clear check. The auditor feels secretly that anyone who hasn't successfully completed the Clearing Course is not really a stable clear. PC picks up on it.

The PC works in Vegas as a blackjack dealer, but he picks up in session that the auditor doesn't believe he is wholesome or deserving of benefit from processing because he is indulging his ego in an area that feeds on others' addictions.

Note:
I believe humans may be 'triggered' when they are in close proximity to those who are shedding their 'skin' and becoming more exterior. I think the body itself might carry a bit of resentment for every time someone enveloped it and submerged its consciousness. A kind of bank reaction to a pervasive exterior presence might be buried. Maybe some session additives occur unconsciously because there is often that uninspected charge. Its common enough in social life.

I happen to believe that there were vast areas of the past where there was a war of purposes between developing civilizations and beings who saw it all as a big trap. There's a lot of ser facs to stir up with a lot of force behind them on both sides. I know when the label CHURCH OF THE NEW CIVILIZATION was officially accepted by the AAC I felt betrayed. Different values!

You really have to have the intention all around to get bigger than the game that contains you.

I feel so cheated because of LRH's stupidity. How could he have been such an idiot? How unfair he was to those who trusted him and supported him. How cruel. In the name of what? He really was a madman.

Trip up North starts this morning!

This morning I've got an appointment at USC Dental Center at 8:30 am. I am finally going to have a tooth made to fill a gap in my mouth caused by a tooth breaking off while I was eating some licorice in late 2008.

Since I will be in L.A., I am going to stay up there and head to Candy's house, in preparation for our trip to Northern California.

It is good to see Carmelo's latest article concerning creating a standard course for auditors and to also read Leon's helpful reply. The need for what Carmelo is starting is enormous.

Really, if someone wants to train up as an auditor today, where does he or she go? C or S is not a viable alternative so the person can enter into the Independent Field but what they find there can be as confusing as C of S.

Freezone tech seems to have a strong element of CBR (Captain Bill Robertson) tech in it. There is supposed to be an element of the Freezone which teaches and practices pure Hubbard but will not admit any materials into itself past a certain cut off date, ranging from 1973 to the very early 80's depending on who you talk to.

You have a few old timers still auditing such as Candy, who learned her basics on the Flagship Apollo in the 60's and early 70's. She has also studied social work at the U of Hawaii, receiving a Masters Degree from them and incorporates those teachings into her work. You have other old timers who practice some of what Candy practices but have added other rundowns such as the L's and NOTs. Some field auditors have been trained using "Golden Age", some do not want to get involved with G.A.

Then there are newer types of tech besides CBR's offshoots. Alan Walter's tech is one such popular tech, Idenics is another, and recently we received reports about PEAT and there are many others. Carmelo espouses a certain way of auditing which is results driven.

Unifying all this information into a new whole is an ambitious undertaking but one that is sorely needed!

Thanks to Hats for posting the Oprah video. That is certainly a positive endeavor which Oprah is putting her vast resources behind!

Well, probably no more posting from me until I get back on Monday, Feb 21. At that time I will have a report and pictures from the Blast From the Past seminar which Candy is going to put on in Northern California.

The Australian Government paid over $3 million to bring Oprah down-under as part of an effort to generate more tourism. The Aussies certainly got value for money in terms of exposure to the US market, but how many in the US realised they were watching one big advertisement, I wonder.

Good luck with the tooth.

About that auditor training course...

Have you ever opened a new piece of gear, a new device, perhaps a computer or something else electronic? You are ready to use it, you WANT to use it NOW, but the manual says "Caution" about this, that, or some other thing. Then it tells you to be careful plugging it in, blah, blah, blah...

These days you open the manual only to have to wade through a half dozen or more other languages to find something you can understand. When you get to the text it really says nothing of importance.

Apple had the right idea with the simple user interface now adopted by Windows. The user looks at the interface. It graphically shows him what his choices are, then he gets on with using the computer. Today that's a bit more complicated as there are many icons and functions beyond spreadsheets, databases, and word processing. But the idea remains. Use the gear first, then consult the manual.

My experience is that church auditors have been made overly cautious as students and as auditors. Keeping Scientology Working, and all that blustering horse-shit gives the student the idea that auditing is complex. It is not. Auditing is no more than good communication under a special contract between auditor and pc. That contract does not come fully into view until auditing takes place, not until both auditor and pc are able to recognize a gain, and not until the auditor knows when to persist and when to end off.

I have taken folks new to the subject and trained them to deliver auditing, and had them auditing within hours. Audit, guide, correct. Repeat, over and over. Eventually the auditor arrives. This is teaching or instruction. It is verbal data. Heaven forbid! But it gets the job done. Then if the student wishes to become a real pro they can do the formal training, read books and bulletins, listen to lectures, attend congresses, and so on.

I just think the priority is in getting the students auditing post haste. Then let them fill in the blanks and satisfy their curiosity as it arises. "Read it, drill it, do it" also works -- in a safe environment, safe where students are allowed the learning experience and not slammed for making a mistake or being less than perfect.

... Apple had the right idea with the simple user interface now adopted by Windows. ...

Historic note: actually this development was made by Xerox at their Parc development facility in Palo Alto, not Apple or Microsoft.

The windowing interface model was an outgrowth of work done on software development and object-oriented programming in the Smalltalk programming language. Apple 'ripped off' (i.e. hired away) two members of the Smalltalk development team for the express purpose of obtaining their knowledge of this windowing model. They then implemented it as a standard interface on their systems. When M$ later copied them, Apple had the further audacity to sue M$ for stealing what they had themselves stolen, thus proving yet again that there is neither honor among thieves, nor is there ANYTHING to which a corporation will not stoop for a perceived potential financial benefit.

I have long since decided that celebrity status is nothing more than an advertisement for anyone who can't find a life of their own. Advertisements of this guy does this and that woman does that is no help to the person that can never be the same. Why would you want to be the same as someone else? Just like LRH it all boils down to money and fame and smashing your name into history.

I always thought Oprah did a good job of showing how you can rise from nothing and be someone, but at what price. I personally feel she is being duped by her celebrity status, and guess what, her scientology buddies are giving her every encouragement.Celebrity status is nothing if you are lying to yourself.Cheating yourself of your own values. It just becomes money, status and prestige and it is all bollachs.

I have always been a strong advocate of Tory Magoo, still am and unless I see something totally contrary always will be. Some time ago now on OCMB she said "Write to Oprah". I tried many times and was not allowed to post on the website.Yet again I thought, well, I won't tell you what I thought because at the time I was seriously angry, I think you who are reading this probably get my drift.

Tonight, after reading this thread I googled Oprah and what did I find, this and it told me what I had thought and have been trying to say all along. I never saw this until tonight.

I do not try and hide my IP address and have no intention of doing so, it is interesting to note the ones that do not allow me access and also the ones that try hard to give me nasty viruses and trojons and all sorts of infective rubbish to litter my computer. It's taken a long time, and I am not computer savvy by any means, but very slowly I am learning.

Interesting, to say the least.
