ESMB Poster "David Mayo"

The only serious concern I have about poles changing is the way in which that weakens our electromagnetic shield, the magnetosphere. If it were to occur with great rapidity, it could result in solar wind ionizing our atmosphere, which would be problematic for those of us that breath, or like UV protection. Other than that, I don't see any evidence for pole-shift to cause ice ages. That seems to occur because of changes in currents, and other much more terrestrial concerns. Pole-shift seems like more of an inconvenience. Our satellites would need patching, and our compasses adjustment.

Fair enough. I was selling those passports by matching their numbers to people's Clear numbers, so I would have asked something like "Sir, would you like to have Saint Hill passport number 28?" (or whatever your Clear number happened to be).

I have no idea where you were staying at the time. You might have spent the night in the Manor, or Gravetye Manor, or elsewhere.

Paul

OK, OK, I'll bite. I WAS staying at the Fellbridge at the time. And you wouldn't have said that. You'd have said number 40 (or 140). Does that make it easier?

Gravity

My understanding it's that it is a generic expression meaning, "there is definitely a gravity signature in there, but no clue what's behind that signature." It could be "warped space" I suppose. Some ideas put forth is that gravity is not fully understood, the same way Newton's gravity had shortcomings, which Einstein's relativity addressed, some scientists have found ways to extend the description of gravity to account for "dark matter."

Thanks but ... I guess I get uncomfortable with extending the description of something to account for _________ . Maybe 'cos it reminds me of the practice of extending descriptions to account for anomalies --in a cult. :omg:

There are plenty of things to discuss here besides "you know what." I, for one, would love to hear of some of your current, personal philosophy and general outlook on things that interest you.

1. After years of having a Ho Hum attitude toward organic veges, fruit, eggs 'cos they cost so much, we started growing some. Now enjoying it.

2. Been trying to think about the fact that the N. Pole moving so much per year in the last 10 years. It's unnerving as I haven't been able to get any information on what happened in earlier times when the polarity of North and South Poles switched and I fear it might be terribly disconcerting.

3. All this dark matter is also irksome. How do they know it is dark matter and not warped space. Wish I could ask Bruce Hines about it.

I know little about that stuff but, since you asked ...

D :melodramatic:

Ah screw the pole reversal, what is worthy of some quality worry is the potential of a neighbouring star to us going supernova; the energy blast would vapourize our atmosphere in a blink. Man on man, there would sure be a few pissed off people running around, complaining about the lack of an atmosphere and why the government or the OT's didn't do anything about it beforehand.

Of course a neighbouring supernova may have already happened; the time delay of the light years distant energy pulse reaching us could take years or decades. :nervous:

I wonder if energy blast from a neighbouring star going supernova would pop popcorn? :confused2: :drama:

What would be warping the space? :whistling:

Seriously, in accordance with einstein: matter/energy is what accounts for the curvature ('warping') of space-time. Where there is spatial warping there is matter/energy and vice versa.

As to how do you distinguish 'dark matter' from 'dark energy' when you can't directly detect either.... :confused2:

The 'go to guy' on that for the board would be 'Student of Trinity'. he's a physicist & professor at Trinity College as well as a sceptic on all things involving the 'S' word.

Poles shifting

The only serious concern I have about poles changing is the way in which that weakens our electromagnetic shield, the magnetosphere. Agreed, on not causing an ice age. But what about all the migratory creatures, birds, whales etc.?

I don't have an_ointment:dieslaughing: for years of duplicity. :no::no::no:

Not putting you on the spot, David, but the original HRD worked pretty d@mn well for a lot of people as 'ointment for duplicity'. However, there are a few 'unnamed' ex-CMO & OSA types who might need some significant 'set ups' before they could be expected to run it successfully. :eyeroll:

And I understand that it would be 'better' if you don't directly respond to posts with direct references such as this one makes. :coolwink:

Supernova

Ah screw the pole reversal, what is worthy of some quality worry is the potential of a neighbouring star to us going supernova; the energy blast would vapourize our atmosphere in a blink. I wonder if energy blast from a neighbouring star going supernova would pop popcorn? :confused2: :drama:

I could say I'm less worried about a supernova as I'd vaporize before I noticed it. But between us, the enlightened, the big beings would stop and re-compress the supernova with their tricky beams. I read a b being already did something like that a few years ago! :whistling:

At the heart of it all...

Thanks but ... I guess I get uncomfortable with extending the description of something to account for _________ . Maybe 'cos it reminds me of the practice of extending descriptions to account for anomalies --in a cult. :omg:

Mr Mayo, I do believe you've encapsulated the genesis of all mythologies/religions. " ...extending descriptions to account for anomalies..."

Thanks! from an agnostic...

When a model is shown not to fit the existing data, that model is outdated, and a new one is needed. Often, it takes a while to find one, and many are profferred that are all weak. Sooner or later, one emerges that fits the facts.

Right now, dark matter is a challenge to the Standard Model. Doesn't mean the Standard Model is totally invalid. The problem is, people get invested/attached to these models, and take it as a threat to their prestige or certainty when the models are challenged. To such folks I say: "the map is not the territory"

(Bowing) And I luv this:

and evil people doing evil things.

Oh man, you bring me back! :D

I read both Worlds in Collision and Earth in Upheaval back in 1970 during my second year at engineering college (the reading was NOT school-related). I have a long history of reading all things "alternative". Shit, remember Alternative 3?

"Alternative archeology" was sure heavily frowned upon back then, and Emmanuel got no respect!

+++++++++++
I 'm not sure why Worlds In Collision and Earth In Upheavel made such an impression on me and stuck with me. I was also in an engineering curriculum at the time I read them. Maybe they just scared the crap out of me. But the "records in the rocks" seemed to be so logical. And Velikovsky sure challenged the status quo.
Off to ethics with him ! To the chain locker ! Clean that crapper ! (Sorry)

I'm not familiar with Alternative 3. Should I look into it ?

Absolutely...

I :hattip: to you, sir. Brilliant!

Religion is like a vestigial organ from our pre-upright days, or the "reptilian brain", if you like. We would all be A LOT better off without it.

Well, it takes an ideology - not just a "religion", for good people to do bad things. For example, take the ideologies of Stalin's Russia or Hitler's Germany. People can be encouraged to do really nasty things in the name of some set of BELIEFS - religious or otherwise.

Religion holds no monopoly on the bad actions seemingly "good people" can take to bring about some crazy version of an idealized "better world".

People who grasp onto some ideology and then set out to enforce it on all other people are the basic culprits, with religion and Scientology existing only as an EXAMPLE and subset of that much larger human tendency.

There are many things which cause good people to do evil things, but mainly it's a weak mind. Religion just happens to prey on the weak minded, as do most con men and opportunists.
