Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview)

Standard Tech, applied as it was meant to be... is decidedly unChristian.

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

when i was training in SF and on staff at fcdc i would not violate my own christian pinciples and i mostly received respect for my personal integrity. i never said "but scripture says 'yada-yada'" or proseletyzed in any way. and of course i was eventually disposed of by the fcdc GO.

You were disposed of by the FCDC Guardians Office because they considered that your insistence on being a Christian was incompatible with Scientology?

no.

i said little to identify myself as christian

one does not practice christianity by talking but by being and doing

the GO story i have yet to write up but i'll slip it on the fcdc thead soon

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

not at all

i wanted to study the subject so i had to abide it's ways

What does "I said little to identify myself as christian" have to do with abiding with the ways of the CoS if there's no problem with being a Christian Scientologist?

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

To be a Christian requires you to care, genuinely, about other people. To love your neighbour, to turn the other cheek, and to live a charitable life.

:roflmao:

This doesn't sound like most of the Christians I know!

And I KNOW Christians!

P.S. With apologies to that guy Jesus Christ.

i made my beliefs entirely evident by my conduct

the exact point where CoS in the person of the qual sec and i came to loggerheads was when i made it clear i was not going to compromise the bill of rights

and i won that skirmish handily

if you haven't read it's writeup on the fcdc thread you might get a chuckle over it

and i never compromised he hippocratic oath either nor did i print it on a t-shirt o wear to muster

these are all inner things...

until someone makes you lay them on the table the way FB made me lay one of the cards i keep in my vest pocket on the "what did you get...?" thread last week

really, the whole argument that a Xian can't be a scnist boils down to:

scnists must only drink orange koolaid and Xians grape koolaid

i always use wine for the eucharist and i don't care a rat's ass who owns the vineyard

Here is a post from Alanzo on Geir Isene's thread from earlier today which I agree with:

I was a Scientologist before I had all the information about what Scientology actually was. Scientology is structured – by Hubbard and not by Miscavige – to keep information away from you that you need to have to make informed decisions about your participation in it.

I saw enough to realize that I was lied to, and that if I passed on those lies, I would be lying to others about it.

That was it for me. Once I knew, I was gone.

Unlike others who find out the truth about Scientology and either ignore it or don’t, and find it perfectly okay to lie to others, or to not pass on what they know about Scientology to others, denying them the ability to make informed decisions about their participation in it.

I refused to do that, and still do.

Most people who were ever Scientologists leave it completely. This has been true since the 1950′s.

What does that make the ones who stay?

The only way to interest a Christian in Scientology is by using deception. And sorry, but I don't believe the end justifies the means.

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

if you take only the simple definition of scientologist as someone who applies scientology to things in life and the simple defininition of christian as someone believes in that which is greater than ourselves, reads and applies scripture, and recognizes even if God did not annoint the nazarene 2000 years of history certainly has, i see no terminal conflict

tell me boomer, do you think someone can be both a christian and a dianeticist?

and...

just by the way...

your private beliefs are personal and your welcome to keep them confidential but it is pertinent to this dialogue to inquire if you are a professing christian
Again, you've gutted the definition of Christian and Scientologist to skim definitions that are compatible. That definition ignores the central tenets of Christianity.
Strangely enough, the Christians don't charge me to learn all about their faith so I would disagree that it's pertinent the the discussion. :p

What, pray tell, is a dianeticist? If you ditch all of the metaphysics from Scientology, you might be able to be a Christian and a Scientologist but you wouldn't really be a Scientologist, would you?

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

Juliette lewis is a scientologist and believe me they lie, and they lie really bad, because you cannot be a scientologist and a Christian at the same time.

They will tell you they can, but that is to get you hooked.

Once hooked, Christianity goes out the window, just like any other religion.

I have had to listen to continuing stories recently this year, of Scientologist Indies/freezoners not being of the "church", yet following Hubbard. No in fact it hasn't just been this year, but it has got worse this year and up close and personal, in recent months and just the same as you cannot be a Christian and a scientologist, you cannot be a freezoner/indie and have left the "church"which is a colossal lie in itself, "the Church".

It has got to the point that I don't know who to believe. That in itself leads me back to scientology and the fact that scientologists lie and they do it all the time. They did in the 1960s and they still do to this day. Constantly. They tell you one thing, they do something totally different and then they behave even more differently. It came to me tonight. The conflict I have had ever since I went to Ireland.

I had a conversation with someone awhile ago and they asked me why Tory was hanging out with freezoners. I said I didn't know but I intended to find out. Now who have I just found on the Indies list 5000, the person that asked me the question. Anyway, more of that to come soon, on my blog 2013, it's going to be a shit year for scientologists of any flavor.

I get what you're saying and I had that experience with CofS. I was told it was pan denominational, and all that. Well, maybe it is and maybe not, but I did end up changing my mind about things I was taught as a Catholic child.

Past lives doesn't mix really well with belief in Heaven and Hell, for example.

So I see what you mean and I know that you observed it.

But (you knew there had to be one, right?) I think that people can be rather elastic in their beliefs. It's a bit of a paradox. They can't have the Xtian view and the Scn view- those have opposing beliefs. But they believe they can. So they believe they can have beliefs they can't really have.

Have you seen any of the Robot Chicken animated shows on adult swim on Cartoon Network? A total favorite of mine. They spoof tv shows, etc. Anyway, in a recent one they had these exaggerated paradoxes and these killer robot overlords having their heads explode because they couldn't handle the paradox. For some reason, this comes to mind right now.

P.S. With apologies to that guy Jesus Christ.

No need to apologise to Jesus Christ for that: He wasn't a Christian. He was born a Jew, and the faith we call Christianity developed after He died.

Later, in the town of Tilden, Nebraska (!) there was born a writer of pulp westerns. He dropped out of school. He'd passed bad cheques during the Alaskan Radio Expedition. He'd exhibited nothing but incompetence during his war service, but lied and malingered in an effort to get a bigger pension. He learned how to hypnotise people. He abandoned his wife and children, moved in with Satanists and experimented with 'sex magick'. When he betrayed his host, he took his money and his girl, and remarried bigamously.

Then he wrote a self-help book, with no proven scientific basis.

Some 1,919 years after the death of Christ, after attempting to betray his business partners, failing and losing of control of Dianetics, the Scientology pseudoreligion was created: by the liar, buffoon and lunatic L Ron Hubbard. Then this criminal really got into his stride...

Amazingly, a few (a very few) people still think Scientology is some kind of 'religion'... although even fewer of them can give anything but the most unsatisfactory answers on the subject of worship.

Re: Can You Be a Christian Scientologist? (Juliette Lewis Says YES in New Interview

As far as Christianity going against past lives, you can go into the purged books of the bible, and etc.

But, back to the point, Christianity was 'tolerated' from what I saw.

There were the various bulletins, and to stuff that has been quoted here, but I'm wondering if anyone has access to the transcripts of the tapes that also became part of one of the OT hatting courses on the ship. I wish to heck I could remember the name of them, but I believe that they had something that looked similar to constellations on the cover... I know the background was a very dark blue or black.

There were definite indictments against Christianity in those, and I know of one gay man who was shown statements from that tape where it was pointed out that being homosexual was a complete 'compulsion'.... he was basically told that if he saw a dick he would not be able to restrain himself, and shown transcripts from these tapes to support that view... forget the fact that he was more chaste and more investing in wanting to find a long-term stable relationship than those who were berating him, but... wtf, eh?

I heard all the stuff from the tapes when I got in against Christianity and all religion, but I'm thinking more and more that those have been sanitized... I was thinking these.... is it the Anatomy of Cause? still had some extremely biting criticism in there.

Hub was just all over the place... WTH, and yet the policy about publics to disseminate to (you don't disseminate to die-hards of other religions was a part--actually off-policy), and over and over again, I saw Christianity as an implant in the references but I STILL hear this crap ... I remember being briefed on a Christian minister including the ARC triangle and WTH in his sermons. The upshot for us was, that well.... he was getting an inroads and get others in, and they'd finally one day cog it was all BS. There was always a sly disdain among staff about those folks... we figured they'd come around some day, but in the meantime they were stuck in a fucking implant like LRH told us.

Just wait til the Nation of Islam scilons get on OT III or listen to some of Hubbo's lectures and find out what's what. Fun times ahead for the Co$

gee...

i'm a professing Xian and i became interested in spite of the lies. there's brilliant work there and i use it in accord with my own principles

and you are entirely welcome to your own beliefs opinions and actions

if you don't mind my asking, are you a Xian yourself or do you have a Xian background?

a dianeticist is someone who studies and applies dianetics

and i haven't gutted my definition of either. there are many christian churches with doctrines that cut me out

and i don't ditch all the metaphysics of scientology

time's short, more soon
