Do you want a board where personal insults predominate instead of reasoned communication? Because if you have NO rules that's what you'll end up with. The line simply has to be drawn somewhere, and invective aimed at other members of the board is a reasonable spot, I think.

Yes I agree. That's what I like about ESMB - it isn't the cesspool other boards end up as when name calling is allowed to run rampant.

It does not matter how many ways you try to get me to shut up.

Because I am not going to apologize or be handled here. And I will do the same thing again if I choose to.

I refuse to abide by the censorship rules of ESMB if I personally don't think it is right.

You'd better go ahead and ban me now, if that's how you handle people who refuse to abide by the decisions of the moderators when they personally disagree with those decisions.

Maybe some people are too delicate to play on the internet.

Stuffies and lollypops are safer options for those people.

Please explain this to me. I agree with how you feel about censorship. I don't believe substance should ever be censored. But I also agree on civility when expressing the substance of the matter.
This is not a choice between Caesar or Cato. Just agree to disagree. I don't want to hear personal insults of others; that just takes away from substance. If you drawing the line that you should be allowed to insult people personally or else you will leave the board, then what do you expect people's reaction to be?

Do what you want Alanzo. But do read the rules and don't be surprised if they happened to be applied ocassionally, even to you.

The internet is a large space. It isn't hard to find places in it where you can cut loose with all the crap you want to. Why isn't it okay to have a place where you don't?

As you can see in her latest conversation with me, not even the owner of the board abides by the rules of not using "invective" in her own posts.

Some people reading her latest posts to me could interpret them as "invective".

This is the hypocrasy you enter into when you set out to censor people on adult boards.

You are going to get differences of opinion as to what is "obscene", what is "invective", what is "proper", etc.

In this case, I am not willing to accept the decisions of the moderator as to what, in Roan's post, was "invective" and thus worthy of censorship.

And I'm not willing to say that I will automatically agree to those interpretations in the future, either.

So this is where I draw the line for myself.

That's all.

Cof$ and FZ yatter yatter yatter about 'freedom', but as soon as someone says something they don't like, they grab for a rule book and start calling for censure.

"Be willing to experience anything".
