nice input from the ESMB crew - also the NZ Charity Commissioner. can't say i have much interest in what the clams have to say in their quadruple allocation of time

i take that back and now i wish there had been more time for Senator "Awsome" Cameron to ask more of those dleicious questions.

also loved to bits the way the clam lawyer woman irritated the senators from thew get go, doing that on/off manouver with her glasses all the time made it look even worse - thankyou neurotic lawyer lady you were excellent

Ha -- re: the glasses. . . . my son's studying body language right now -- practicing around the house etc. That business about peering over the glasses is supposed to be a power move, and then taking them off when you are making a point is supposed to give it more credibility and weight . . . can't say she pulled that one off very well . . . she probably should have studied the case more than the body language gimmicks.

Maybe it was the fidgeting or maybe it was the tight-lipped defensive "fightin'" attitude she had but she certainly didn't endear herself to anyone, nor did she sound at all confident or credible. Wonder if they've fired her yet.

Newspaper report:

'Ruthless' Scientology condemned in tax debate
KIRSTY NEEDHAM
June 29, 2010

Former members of the Church of Scientology have told a Senate committee of the ''ruthlessness'' of the church and its judicial system, and argued it should not be eligible for tax-free status.

''Australian taxpayers should not be funding systematic, organised abuse,'' said Janette Vonthehoff...

Hi Folks, am just chimin' in here.....

I'm pretty happy with the result of what's happened today, but have mixed emotions about it all.

I know what I know, and if I was sitting around with a bunch of mates or with a bunch of people who I thought were interested, it'd be easy enough to just give them the picture. However, for me, when it comes to cameras and recordings and anything formal, I tend ta fuck up and freeze. I get stage fright, and I know others do too, to varying degrees.

I thought we had a great opportunity here today. I didn't want it muffed, and I hoped we'd make the most of it. We all were of the same mind.

As it turned out, I don't think any of us felt that all the points we wanted to highlight were made. Personally, that's rough, but by the same token, by the end of the day, we were all pleased with what eventuated.

I for one am sorry that certain points didn't get brought up and stressed. However, I'm happy with what *was* brought up and with what will be taken further because of what was put on the table today. I'm confident that it's all good, and that it'll go forward from here, despite how we could have maybe made it a bit better.

All the crap aside, I wanna say thanks to the support team.....Liz (HappyDays), Greg (Supra) and Stephanie, and Scooters sis and hubby......They all helped make it a success today! Thanks and cheers to ya!

You were all brilliant, very natural and real and between you, you got so much into the arena!

Great job ... Carmel, absolutely great, enjoy knowing what you just achieved.

Hey! The only stage fright that I saw came from the cofs lawyer ... she is fantastic (for us).

Plenty got out there! And it was very well done. It's always hard to watch yourself on video -- but you all were amazing from an "outside" perspective, so don't be hard on yourself. There wasn't enough time (not even close) to get it all out there -- and even if you could -- people couldn't digest it all. What was presented was more than enough, and it's not over -- there will be plenty of opportunities to speak out now that things are unravelling so quickly. I imagine you all will be deluged with interview opportunities now.

I didn't get to watch what went on last night and I haven't had a chance to watch the videos yet, and won't be able to probably until tomorrow, but I did read quickly through all the posts here. It sounds pretty exciting!!!!

I want to thank all of you who worked so hard on this.:clap::clap: Looks like you are all cracking the case of the CoS. True case crackers....true to the goal of making a better world and freeing mankind. You all are heros. :happydance:

Also, thanks Zhent for all your work on the videos so that everyone can watch what happened there. You rock Zhent!

I wonder if any of the Otees who were there will begin to have doubts or walk away from the CoS after watching what went on. I sure hope it would open their eyes a bit anyway.

And thanks again to all who have made this possible. Great team effort.

Congratulations to all of you!

To hell with being a perfectionist, you guys are simply extraordinary. What? You were expecting the Church of Scientology to take the mike and just say something like: "Don't bother, you got us, we give up--we will close down today. Sorry about that last 60 years." LOL

Watching the videos, I was left with one lingering feeling....

TRUTH vs LIES

Those who honorably and bravely testified vs. Scientology came across as responsible citizens stepping forward to honestly tell a simple, yet dark tale.

Scientology's mercenaries and cult members, on the other hand, appeared slickly manipulative and deceptive...liars who would bend, twist or torture any fact to avoid drowning. Unmistakably, this is Scientology fighting for its life, thrashing about--a fish out of water, unaccustomed to the glare of impartiality.

A thought resonated after taking it all in.

Scientology's rigid, rock-like position is no match for the ocean of truth that is washing ashore. It may not be fireworks every moment, but we are watching the slow, inexorable force of EROSION. Give it time.................

Scientology has no place to go.

Like Hubbard, it has been on the run, hiding from authorities for 60 years but.....it has been located.

Thank you!

Doom

Lurking.
You Guys Did Great, were really brave and really put the pressure on early. EPIC WIN.

Then the CofS team started like Keystone Cops and finished with a Train wreck.
They must have spent a fortune on foot bullets, because everytime I thought they may be running out they just reloaded and kept going.
Senator X and Senator Cameron ripped them to shreds.

The best Money that the CofS spent this year was on the Barrister, I could not stop laughing, best comedy of the year.

I hope the Senators follow up on getting the promised documents showing the inner finances of the Church, including how much money is spent on charity in the church, how much goes to management, and also I really hope they follow up and get the IRS documents they were promised during the hearing by the guy from NZ, the OSA chick and the lawyer.

Those should be interesting.

Senator Cameron

We have not only got 1 senator behind us now but obviously 2.(Mr, Cameron)
By questions he was asking he has long recognized the fraud and scam behind it all. Even the main chairman seemed very fair and positve toward the ex- members.
I think they have very well been reading ALL of the submissions and have a good picture of $camatology by now.
It is only a matter of time before the coffin is sealed.
I want to celebrate already, but we should wait a bit first.
It must be hard to speak before and audience like that and others take professional training for it, but nothing replaces an honest word spoken with integrity, and the Cult had slimey little snakes that even a kid could see thru.
Well done everybody:happydance:

Thank you all so much for doing this. I know how hard it must have been.

Even to those of us who were never in the CofS, it is obvious who has the courage of conviction when speaking before the cameras. Congratulations, for the fist on the jaw and blade in the side to the CofS! Death may be slow, but change in its operation is inevitable, thanks to your contributions!

Dear Carmel,

don't worry.

On occasions like that you NEVER EVER get ALL the points through that you want to. NEVER. I've sat through enough occasions like that in my life, and either the topic is so boring that you want to stab your eyes out during what feels to be a neverending discussion or the topic is dear to you, then - especially in hindsight - you have a zillion things that also should have been mentioned but weren't due to time restraints.

Again, don't worry. You answered the questions put to you, probably not as detailled as you wanted to, but the Senators got their answers. And, you lot came about as very sincere, credible, honest people.

Also, no matter how mixed your emotions are about your appearance, it was gold compared to the complete and utter train wreck that the scilon crew produced. I still can hardly believe Mrs McBride is a practising lawyer.

To tell a member of the legislation that he is obliged to ask a member of the executive if he wants to do something is stupid beyond comprehension ("You have to ask the Attorny General") and quite likely pissed off the older and I suspect very experienced chairman as well.

I lack the words to describe how epic the CoS failure was. The only thing they achieved was to completely alienate even the neutral bystanders and my guess is that NZ Dollar conversion idiocy will be the laughing stock of the floor for the rest of the week.

Geez, I gotta watch that again and make a tally sheet to even count the foot bullets.

Anyway, don't worry, have a beer and stand proud :)

Oh Wow Carmel. You, Scoots, Kev & the rest are truly wonderful. I have never felt so pround of anyone I know as much as you guys.
You have stoked a fire for which it is impossible for the Cof$ to put out.
I have a feeling a judicial enquiry may be just around around the corner or at least the real threat of one. The evidence gathered & tabled will finally have a way of being appreciated by those with the power to do something about it.
Love you all...
