Researchers--want to look into this-Peter Letteresse

Just saw on another thread a post by AnonMary about a court case about Peter Letteresse's bankruptcy case ! Us old timers know Peter-but- I did not know about his "bankruptcy"--I'm curious about what happened with him and his beloved money.But--I'm not going to go looking into it-but if someone would and post it here--I'd THANK THEM !!!

You would know if you took it back then. Supposedly the purest form available of any hallucinogen: Mescaline, LSD, others. I believe it came from the idea that certain researchers and governments were using these drugs for "research" and so they prepared pure forms of the drugs, which could be stolen and dropped on the flower power market of the times.

As it turns out, the U.S. government (C.I.A.) was indeed experimenting with LSD, using it on psychiatric patients in an attempt to "wash" the patient's mind and prepare them for "new" programming. This was done to over a dozen patients here in Canada at a hospital in Montreal, PQ. Whether or not the Canadian government was aware of the U.S. government's meddling and unethical human experiments is unknown but it is true, it really happened. There has been a documentary on it and lawsuits filed against the doctors involved and the C.I.A./U.S. government. Oddly enough, this is one case where hubbard's rantings and paranoia turned out to be legitimate. This is what could happen to any of us when we drop our guard and not monitor our "professionals" and governments. :confused2:

That shit caused my brother to go insane. A very dark period in Winnie's life.

All apologies

That shit caused my brother to go insane. A very dark period in Winnie's life.

I hope my comments did not offend. I am not now nor will I ever be pro-drug or pro-hallucinogen, even for mystical, spiritual quests. There may be a very few exceptions to that but I am not learned or experienced enough to comment on spiritual quest use of hallucinogens.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he made it through the madness.

Many medical studies showed there were significant benefits in the use of LSD as part of a therapy. The book above was printed in 1967 - about which time it was politics rather than science which pulled the funding on any further research. The "cultural war" was reaching its zenith and academics deemed to be in favour of the "turn on, tune in, drop out" message were pilloried while LSD was made an illegal drug. Concerns about government using the drug to control the poplace are little more than paranoia-based conspiracy delusions put about by Conservatives at the time frightened that their vision of how people should behave was being dismantled.

Rather than any intelligent insight, Hubbard's pontifications on the subject were merely a reflection of his own innate conservatism.

Any one with a child's chemistry set can make pure LSD and if there was any devastion to be wrought from its wholesale application to a population you can be sure it would have been done by now. The simple fact is, no one has ever died as the direct result of an LSD overdose. Sure, sailed out the window trying to fly - perhaps - but never a toxilogical death. In short, LSD is safer than nicotine.

There are several recorded cases of a soldiers receiving compensation from the US government for having been given LSD - http://www.nytimes.com/1984/06/29/o...nwell-46-dies-sued-army-over-test-of-lsd.html - and it certainly was never any particular secret the military experimented with its application in a war setting.

Based on the results shown in the video, I can see why the war mongers would rather LSD were banned; how can any soldier go about slaughtering their fellow man when they're too busy giggling?

Blip you can go to hell. That technically something does not cause death does not mean it cannot cause grave harm. Mescaline and LSD made my brother paranoid and brought on a type of schizophrenia. He led an unbearably sad life, and when he died at age 49 in July 1997 of an aortic aneurism we all felt his torment had come to an end. Death was mercy to him.

I played cello for his funeral and broke down sobbing before I could complete the music. The piece I played was one that he and I had done together--he was a pianist.

The circumstances of his life perhaps rescued me from a fate worse than death at the hands of Scientology. When I reflect on it, I see that I had a scepticism which saved my ass from the cult.

I look back on my relationship with him during his torment and feel the greatest guilt that I could not reach him. The last years before his death saw me prospering as a successful musician while he seemed a lost child in a very cold world. My pain is unbearable sometimes when I reflect on that.

Gosh Winnie

OMG, Winnie, I am so sorry for your loss, for the suffering of your brother.
My deepest sympathy (and that is a good thing, in wog world). My heart goes out to you.

I'm very sorry to hear about your brother, Winnie.:console:

I don't know the extent of your brother's use of these hallucinogens, but it's true that repeated use of LSD can have a profound psychological effect. There is also evidence that underlying mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, can be "activated" by LSD use.

My deepest sympathies to you.

I do sincerely apologise if my comment caused you hurt. As it happens, I too have a close relative with schizophrenia and, yes, observing their lifestyle is like watching a slow-motion suicide. While I would never wish death upon her, I can well understand how the inevitable could be termed a blessed release.

However, you appear to be labouring under the misconception that LSD - or any psychotropic drug for that matter - "causes" schizophrenia. This is not the case. Generally speaking, those drawn to sustained drug abuse already have a predisposition to some form of mental illness, whether engendered by genetics or environment. Even a quick Google will confirm this. If you require further evidence, feel free to let me know and I can refer you to a number of scholarly texts. The truth will set you free.

In terms of a wider argument, prohibition didn't work with alcohol and it doesn't work with other drugs. Until such time as most of the population, and particularly the politicians, realise that, there will always be unnecessary victims and associated crime. Not to mention, unfounded myths and stories to frighten the children with. Your concern about how Government controls its population might be better directed at the phantoms of fear created in relation things like drugs rather than whether or not they will poison you physically. Why would they when they already have a complicit media to assist in poisoning your mind?

You might be interested in learning a little more about how this works by viewing the BBC Documentary "The Power Of Nightmares" which, rather than the spectre of drugs with "roots all the way to hell", deals with the myth of terrorism. Its fascinating. The other two parts can be found linked to this one if you are at all interested.

Again, apologies for any pain which resurfaced as a result of my comment. It was flippant and, having re-read your original comment, I could have been a little more sensitive to what obviously was a particularly tragic episode for you and your family.

Then why did you bring it up???

I smell an evil agenda, Winston is trying to kill the FCDC thread! :grouch:

That isn't true and it is not fair. The guy has some pain and loss connected with it. And he doesn't want to pour salt into the wound. That is what I got that he is saying.

Winston was an ex-FCDC in the early 1970s so he can say whatever he wants on the thread or not say what he doesn't want to say.

Us ex-FCDCers don't dig thought police.

Oi! that´s not fair! I got a lot of bad memories of the thought police.

I do not wish to continue this discussion. :bleh:
