I just watched the tapes from last evenings speakers. Russell Miller was very good. John Duignan was absolutely fantastic! His was the last talk of the evening. Well, well worth watching.

I've been out of commission these last few days and I haven't read this thread.

Can someone tell me if this thread is about a protest in Clearwater?

Is there a place where there will be guess speakers?

Is it going on now?

I am officially a fan of Russell Miller (note to self: check if Mr Miller has a fan club). I am also an unrecognised fan of John Duignan, which he kind of knows about but still refuses to send me a fan-club t-shirt and cap. :melodramatic:

No, seriously here, like you say well worth watching these folk. :)

There is a conference taking place in Clearwater. FlagDown2014 is the name of it. Just google for the web address. You can go to the website for it and watch youtube videos of the speakers. Monday evening was the first evening. The sound quality of the videos was poor. Last evenings were much better.

The schedule indicates an Anonymous protest on Saturday beginning at 11:00 am.

------------

Yes, Russell Miller's talk is there. He was the first speaker last evening.

During this moment when Russell Miller was speaking there were close to 3 1/2 thousand people watching via the live feed.

If I was a betting man I'd say that hundreds of thousands will view that recording in the future.

Back when there weren't such a huge number of Scientology exposés out there, Russell Miller's 'Barefaced Messiah' did more than anything else to educate me about the life of that ridiculous buffoon, L Ron Hubbard.

Thanks, Mr. Miller. Thanks for standing up to the 'Fair Game' for so long, and writing such a great book.

The videos are up now, should be here:

Just checked, it's Part 3

If anybody with the smarts could turn the audio streams from Flagdown 2014 into a sequence of podcasts, I think that would reach a big audience. I'd really like to access them that way, if possible. I understand that higher quality video will be shared presently, but please don't overlook the value of a podcast?

Yes, Tory/Magoo  Your post #220 above is spot on, but more important is the point that the "permanent injunction" specifies very explicitly geographic locations and addresses that the injunction is limited to and having affect on.

It has no force anywhere else . . . .

Ummm, that should not be to hard to understand, even for the willfully "blind."

It's unfortunate that the ill-will between two players in the game has been exposed, expressed and acted upon. It is also very, very unfortunate that this series of mis-steps can be interpreted by the cult types as "an example of their ethics presence" as we ex-culties know the bastards will. They will even trumpet this little brouhaha as a "win" for them and their "ethics presence" . . . . what we should be doing is using it and the fraudulent application of the injunction and other spurious legal actions by the cult as examples of the cult's duplicity, mendacity and true intent of gaining and misusing political power in the areas it operates in!

It is a bit of a tragedy that the legal issues were not thought through more correctly such that the Constitutional Rights of free individuals stood tall instead of being bruised.

If I remember correctly, my invitation made the point that the conference was being held outside the jurisdiction of the cult's "power base" for the very reason the cult is wont to falsely report to the courts and misuse the system with their $$$'s.

The other thought and wonder I have is: did Laura in any way communicate to Mark B her concerns and ask him to stay away prior to the confrontation . . . from the traffic I have read, it appears not. And if not, that is a tragic error . . . though in the context of the posted traffic on "her not liking Mark" . . . it figures.

But shit, surely people ought be big enough to bury their dislikes for an event and occasion as big as this???!!! That and with Mark being a local resident!?

I suggest that these kinds of events be held in locations other than Clearwater. Pick large cities with major media outlets. Chicago, NY or Atlanta would be good and (presumably) do not have the issue with preexisting injunctions against protesters. A worldwide seminar would work too, in a well connected location such as London. Invite public health officials, professionals from the mental health fields, anyone who can get the word out with their clients.

The truth is an inoculation.

The LMT injunction was addressed well before the conference. It was publicly stated that anyone covered by the LMT injunction was not invited. My recollection is that these posts were originally in our first, main Flag Down 2014 thread, which became infested with OSA trolls. Many posts were moved to a derail thread. Both threads were frequented by trolls so often that they were both locked eventually.

WWP seems to be better at controlling OSA trolls than ESMB. A survey of a few pages this am showed a general score of Likes 10-20 v. Dislike 1.

What this brings out is that AMA is involved, and has been involved, for a long long time in active protest and in WWP, and love her or hate her she keeps going. Did anyone mention that she lives, 24/7, in Clearwater?

I have always found her helpful and positive. She is not averse to confrontation but does not look for it. I believe the value of her initiative will increase as time passes.

What WBM is up to I can only imagine. I have wondered this since 2008. His protest seems to be unique to him.

I would say it is time to have another judge look at this injunction which is too wide and too strong for the offence and has already lasted too long. I don't believe it would be accepted today.

Now, I'm really curious. Who else, without an injunction against them, would have been blocked from attending?

It's one thing for the organizer to say, that such and such is not welcome to speak, but to block attendance?

That's more oddity.

Wuzzup?

Anyone labeled an Indie.

Who is an Indie? It sounded completely capricious and arbitrary. Geir is there, so apparently he doesn't count. Many people who were indies, and have now renounced, I get the feeling wouldn't be welcome. Much discussion occurred about how to oust these people if they dared to show up.

Kinda weird because we actually had Scientologists at our press conference in LA.

This is my understanding:

Indies were welcome to attend the conference. Indies were not asked to be speakers at the conference. It is the prerogative of the conference organizers to decide who is and who is not invited to speak.

Please don't spread the misinformation that Indies would not be allowed to attend the conference.

I'm happy for any Scientologist, Independent or otherwise, to attend, even David Miscavige, as long they behave themselves, but we won't be promoting their belief system, or any other, or featuring them as speakers. The focus of the conference is on exposing Scientology's deception, fraud and human rights abuses.

Maybe you should let I'mglib know that, over at Operation Clambake Message Board.

It appears to have been a misunderstanding.

-snip-

I don't know what kind of troll it is - OSA or not - but I recently noticed that there's someone, maliciously, posting as "Veda" over at WWP. This is also being done, in the same malicious fashion, to at least several other people with no interference. Seems more like troll heaven.

Look, I like Pete. I like the speakers, I like the conference, I donated to the conference, I wish everyone well. If Pete comes to California some day I hope he rings me up.

But it's pretty clear from the planning thread that AMA despises whoever it is she thinks is an indie. I went through the planning thread and was going to cut and paste some quotes, but people can just go read it. If you are someone like Karen or Mike Rinder (whom AMA has derogatory names for), there's no way you would attend because of the insults. There is much talk of how it isn't an indie conference, and who is and isn't an Indie. There is much talk of how they would be shown to the door if they didn't "behave" (??!) or said something pro Hubbard. As if indies would show up and start selling LRH and behaving badly, and wouldn't be catered to to or might not feel comfortable.

I am glad Pete said that, but as someone on WWP said, to imply that indies would be welcome, or even technically invited (as if someone despised and insulted would want to) is facepalm.

Here's the thread:
