What's new

For the Rathbun "Believers"

Right.

And let me tell you something- I know for a fact that there are ESMBers who, when they were in CofS, were absolute douchebags who did screw other people over. It wasn't everyone, but there are some. They left CofS, started speaking out, but some of them are going forward and proceeding out of pasts that are less than squeaky clean. So why would some individuals get a chance to live it down and to be treated with respect afterward but some would not?

::raises hand::

I was a douchebag who screwed people over when I was in.

Now, the number of people I screwed over was relatively small, not being a person of great influence, but it still did happen.

There's one I struggle with feeling guilty about, actually.

Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder are very courageous men

The courage it took for Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder to do what they did will go down in history.

To be where they were in the church of scientology and to then come out against what was happening inside the church took an enormous amount of courage that only a few in this world will ever know.

The situation is a mess but it can be put back to right and both of you have taken the first step to putting things back to right.

Here's to Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder, two great men, two great beings.

The guy who took your money is the one you ask for the refund. Doesn't matter if he sold you the real "ford" or the "dud". You can make it as complicated as you want. It's really very simple.

Good luck on your refund cycle! :D

The "guy who took my money" is a dead messiah in outer space doing research for your used car dealership. Send me his contact info I will send my refund request.

Holy crap. Would somebody see if that kool-aid has gone bad?

Well for the record, I do NOT know WHAT to think about Rathbun 'n Rinder right now.

But....but....doesn't Marty's blog (which I have NOT YET read extensively or detailedly ), and him coming out on TV an' stuff account for ANYTHING? No?

I been reaaallly stressfully busy last few months and got LOTS to catch up with the blog and what the full intents that Rathbun, etc are detailing...so...go easy on me!!!

(NOT necessarily defending them er anythin'....but...but....still....I'm...kinda cornfused....:duck: )

That's OK WO. Take your time. Once you catch up maybe it's time to decide whether unrepentant thug Marty Rathbun deserves a tin badge (much less the hero worship his fans wallow in.)

The enemy of my enemy is quite often a self-serving asshole with less than admirable motives and methods.

Boy, that sure sounds like church black PR to me.

DM hit people, MR hit people. DM lies, Rinder has lied. All three are keeping quiet about crimes in the cult. DM has made peoples lives a misery, so have Rathbun and Rinder. I'm having a hard telling which is which. Oh hang on, LFBD, floating TA, Cog: DM is the one with all the money. Can I write my success story now? Smilla.

It's very clear. Mike Rinder and Marty Rathbun realized that things were wrong and that they had made mistakes and are now setting to correct them where as DM has done nothing different, that I know of, to admit his mistakes.

The difference is that they are now doing the right thing and should be congratulated and supported for doing so not attacked.

Only the church has a vested interest in black PR'ing these two men and in my opinion, anywhere you see it being done, it can be traced back to the church of scientology.

It takes a real man to admit his mistakes and then try to make things right.

One Word:

WTF?

What's the *reason* given that you should edit? Did you call someone a doo doo head?

Zinj

I need rehabilitation so my posts are better. I now can see that if I can handle my words so that they are better, my thoughts will be better too.

I want to be that person that they have told me I can be. Then I hope I can apply to re-enter the group. Okay, I am not really supposed to stop and talk to anyone not in the RPF so I had better "run".

Understanding or acceptance? Understanding could only be a good thing, acceptance though, is a different matter, and I wouldn't applaud anyone for doing that.

I think I understand "Marty's group", but I don't accept it anymore than I'd accept LRH's group or DM's group - All peas from the same pod and not sweet ones by any stretch of the imagination.

I obviously can't say what Alanzo is attempting to bring about with any such specificity.

For myself, what I would like is something like this: in the same way that you believe you understand Marty's group, they I'm sure feel they understand you - dramatizing, stuck in an incident with lots of "bypassed charge" so most anything you say can be ignored with impunity.

It would be nice if they were able to look at criticism of the CofS and Scientology and at least ponder the validity of it with the possibility of correcting it. And it would be nice if critics could allow the possibility that what Marty is doing could if nothing else be a step towards making CofS less abusive. Baby steps, maybe, but still.

It's not just Marty you know. There are other people like Dan Koon involved, who I've never heard anyone say anything bad about.

I suspect both groups could have greater understanding, and while I don't think total acceptance could ever happen, I think that at least enough understanding to avoid major conflicts could eventually go a long ways towards some positive changes made in CofS, like the demise of DM, maybe even the dissolution of CofS as an entity in favor of a grass roots system, which would make it much more difficult for an abusive horror to group up around Scientology again.

Or not, but at least with some understanding between critics and the martyzone there's a greater chance of it, I think.

Clarification....

Hey, I used the term "Marty's Group" to quote you. I actually don't understand Marty's group at all, as I've said on many other posts prior to now. I also don't put all in that 'group' in the same box - I read what they post on his blog, and it's clear that there is diversity among them, just as there is here on ESMB.

For the record, when the St Pete's Times articles came out, I was giving Marty the benefit of the doubt, and waiting for more. It wasn't until after that when he started posting lots on his blog, that my 'hope' in regard to what he could do, went down the girgler.....I was 'hoping' for other things, but besides that, I didn't expect what he started coming up with. Since that time, it seems to have gone from bad to worse, and seeing people rally behind Marty, has been quite disturbing.

I wasn't in the SO. I don't have "BPC" on any INT Execs for anything they've done in the past. I don't 'hate' anybody, and as strange as it seems to some, I don't regret my time in Scn. It would probably be different if I was in the SO, but besides a bit here and there, I didn't cop too much 'personally'....well, at least not as much as many did and not as much as many still are.

My "charge" is on what's happening now, and in Scn terms, it's a "flow 3" thing. What has gone down within the Scn ranks, is still being permitted to happen now, and watching someone promote and/or protect an organization (based on a lie), which has caused and is causing so much harm to so many, creates new "charge" - it's not about "BPC" at all!

It would be nice if they were able to look at criticism of the CofS and Scientology and at least ponder the validity of it with the possibility of correcting it. He's in a position where he doesn't need to use baby steps. He's in a position where he could blow it out of the water. By doing so, thousands of people could start to get their lives back, and those who'd want to pursue Scn tech as a self help thing would be free to do so.

It's not just Marty you know. There are other people like Dan Koon involved, who I've never heard anyone say anything bad about.
Dan Koon isn't putting himself in the limelight giving a false picture (not that I've seen anyway), nor promoting an organization that he knows to be as one which is destructive.

This is where we couldn't/wouldn't agree - There should never have been a CofS. The CofS was and has always been a cloak to hide behind and one which protects a machine that is a con and is harmful. While the CofS and the SO exists, so will the abuses.

The MRs are still very much under the influence of the 3 implants: Tech, Admin and Ethics. You know, all that spiritually misleading and purposefully misdirecting spew from Lips Hubbard.

Holding them (and their adherents) up as "being right" has relativity only relative to Dinky Dwarf David Miscavige "being wrong".

The Dinky Dwarf is great. One of the best moles we have buried right at the heart of the cult of hallucination. Go, Davey, Go! Pour it on! More, more, more!

Hmmm. It should be very obvious that for whatever reasons critics are very
happy to attack Marty cos he still supports tech.

Maybe you're an idiot? Anyway, I'm in the UK, you want to chat I can probably call you for free. :)

I'm in London

That is not the reason, Terril. And besides, it's not about Marty or what he believes in ...... it's about what he is doing and what he is 'protecting'.
