I'm so sorry, Roger. I lost alot of friends & someone very close to me to AIDS, so I know what that feels like. After I was diagnosed, I started making funeral plans & drawing up a Living Will for my parents to follow. I've outlived them both thanks to advances in HIV research & medications.

My stepbrother has been HIV positive since the mid-1980s, and thanks to the "cocktail" he is here and will be for a long time to come. A sad Happy Birthday to Freddie Mercury. One of my high school buddies was in a Queen video. All of you, my loved ones, are dearly missed.

The subject of INNUREMENT must be examined more and more. The millions David Miscavige spent on the 2 PIS that stalked and surveilled Pat Broeker for 25 years...that money was innurement. Parishioner money spent to give Miscavige gratification. As with all the dirty Fair Game and the PIs hired...it serves no good purpose, it serves no benefit to the public.

go along to get along,

while staring starry-eyed at the goal of spiritual freedom of which we've sampled and are certain exists.

Docility and self-minimization reverse therapy.

You shouldn't be surprised that Miscavage is repackaging - it is a common business practice. Take the Ford Mustang - how many versions of that car are there? The easiest sell is to a person who has already bought the product before. It's hard to get new people to buy. You have to contact many people to find the few that will buy. In MLM it is known as the principal of "Next" meaning, if Joe won't bite, then you say or think Next!, and you start talking to Sally. It is also the pyramid scheme of selling.

But you know that already know that.

The point is brought up: is or is not Miscavage a true believer? I think he is, but he has a problem. His problem is that he does not understand the mechanisms of what makes Scientology "work". He does not understand hypnotism, faith healing, placebo effect and some of the other mechanisms of the mind on the level that Hubbard did. Probably no Scientologist does. Back to the Mustang analogy, A Scientologist is a driver of the Mustang, not a builder or designer of the Mustang. They don't have a clue of what goes on under the hood. They think they do, but they are only driving the car.

And thus, Geir's point comes true. The subject can't evolve because there is no creator to tweak the Mustang, and release the next model. You could say Scientology is the equivalent of the VW of the sixties - each year they would promote how little the car changed.

To save Scientology would be simplicity in itself - if (and that is a big word) someone who understood how the "con" really worked, took over, and introduced the world to the Thing, the Rabbit, the Jetta, the Porsche and beyond.

Miscavage is not that person - he is just a sales manager in the car sales division Hubbard built.

My view is that it is an entrapping bait and switch . . . not the honest upsell to a later, improved model that replaces the worn out earlier physical universe piece.

Miscavage is as a parasite on the system, sucking its blood and killing it as a means to keep himself in power.

I say this in the context that he might well understand the fraudulent basis of the whole enterprise of Hubbard's and he has placed himself in a position to milk it for all it's worth . . . thus he may not even now believe in the tech; but only in its ability to pull $$$$'s from the remaining faithful.

Those of us who have a memory remember that all the materials were verified from 1987 to 1991 and in 1991, the tech was declared complete with an amnesty.

But then they bought every house where LRH had lived and found tapes and writings there which they restored. They also became able to restore things they hadn't been able to restore. I don't how much of that is true.

What I've seen is that while there were few additions in books, there were quite some deletions in the lectures, including a phrase that was changed, obviously dubbed in in studio. When you're at that naive stage of "Hubbard is Source" it's a bit of a shock that the Church would change the words uttered by Hubbard for political correctness.

I don't recognize all the people whose photos appear (the "witches" and "SPs"). Can someone make a list in order of appearance?

That's not marketing genius. That's doing something trivial and selling it as something 'wonderful' to your brainwashed followers.

There are plenty of examples of real marketing genius out there:

The gecko lizard selling Geico insurance.
Polar bears drinking Coke.
Dancing babies selling Evian water

These took cleverness and creativity.

Selling misplaced semicolons takes gall and a brainwashed captive audience.

I re-posted the Library Scam. Our Sindy Fagen of this message board and Luis Garcia of the famed Law suit against the Super Power scam are featured nicely in this video. I feel it needed to be part of this video Channel.

In 2008 a re-hash of old books were released at the cost of $3000 and $5000 with such DVDs. David Miscavige bragged he made the Church $10 million dollars in one day. The fall out on staff was pretty horrific. Sleep deprivation was enforced on those that did not make their quotas. All staff, including Security Guards, OSA INT, canteen workers, you name it, EVERY staff member had to SELL for 2 1/2 hours a day in their so called "study time." Money extraction was THE prime target.
The public were scammed. Duped into high pressure from desperate andsleep deprived Sea Org Members, the public believed they were buying copies for *every* Library in the USA, then for each country in the world.
Because of limited shelf space, all libraries handle unsolicited donations the same way. They throw the unasked for books in the dollar bin, or they give them to someone, or they just throw them away or "Return to Sender." While Bridge Publications, knew these bundles of books were being returned by the truckload, none of the scammed money was returned to the Public and US libraries have a fraction of the "Basics" that Scientology Inc pretends.
Worse than that staff members charged unauthorized purchases of these Basics on credit cards, stealing $$$ and used up advance payments on account. The theft and criminality inside the Sea org took on a new level.

Way back, in my day in SCN, some would donate SCN books to whatever libraries would accept them.

Many years ago I checked the main library at U.C.Riverside for donated SCN books and, yes, a few were there on the shelves.
And some had been signed inside the books by staff/public of the Riverside Mission (they are probably exe's by now).

If the action my "upper management" had been legitimate, they would not have marked up the price to donors they way they had: they would have solicited only the monies needed to cover costs . . . but NOOooo: max rip-off as usual.

Bill Straass served as a hard working "Sea Org Member". The "church" called them "CLERGY". When a Sea org member needs medical treatment, (there are approximately 4000 of them world wide,) the "CHURCH" makes the Tax payer pay for medical treatment in all countries. Scientology Inc is Tax Exempt and does not pay its fair share of taxes, under *religious cloaking*. Not only does it not contribute its fair share of taxes but expects the State to pay for medical while it hoards money for its expensive Lawyers and Private Investigators.
Bill Straass suffered greatly for 13 years with the HIV virus after being finally sent to a Chiropracter (for no money) trading of Freewinds accomodations !

The "Church" of Scientology treatment of it's aged and ill staff is obscene. While David Miscavige agonizes over which pair of $1600 John Lobb shoes to wear, idealistic and brainwashed staff members who suffer the misfortune of illness are berated for being "down-stat", "off-purpose", "PTS", "degraded beings" and the like. This, after working 100 hour weeks, with too little sleep, and poor nutrition. Contrast the pasty skin, and hollow eyes of staff members with Miscavige's perfect obscene tan. Look at the teeth of veteran staff members, and contrast this with Miscavige's obscenely bleached teeth. But I digress.

Truly, this is a "Church" devoid of the most basic sense of human compassion. In its place, we find photo-op staged events, designed to create PR, whether directed at internal or external public. The tragedy and the irony is that young people join this "Church" out of a very misplaced sense of idealism, which, over time is replaced with a most dedicated fanaticism.

I read a posting that someone once wrote to the effect that, on 9/11 when we witnessed a monstrous act of terror and evil, in which 3000 people perished, the "Church" of Scientology treated this event as a business opportunity, a fundraising bonanza, and a once in a lifetime Public Relations showcase, offering "Mental Health" services on Fox News, while dressing idealistic dupes in bright yellow T shirts that advertised their "Church" giving touch assists, handing out pamphlets and otherwise getting in the way of real first-responders. All coordinated with OSA, who received their marching orders from Miscavige. This took the act of cynical manipulation to uncharted depths, and was as cold and calculating an act as that which was perpetrated by the hijackers themselves.
