They crept in and when you're a believer, and you trust the most ethical group on the planet, you sign. They make sort of a one way gate: if you want a copy, try to alter a clause, or refuse to sign - you are PTS and persona non-gratis. If you sign, you are sheep to be shorn.

It came to me one day that the outrageous lies Hubbard told - like breaking a bronco at three years old, act as a litmus test to determine if you are gullible or not. If you will part with your hard earned cash or not. Those lies separate the wheat from the chaff. They are there for a more compelling reason than self aggrandizement.

Mimsey
Yes, good call, Mimsey . . .

Though in my case, in my day, . . . well, the breaking broncos at 3 years old hadn't appeared in his resume . . . it was the PhD and the "nuclear physicist" that did me in :melodramatic: . . . Oh yeh, and the reference to Freud and the early Scn org being a member of the (what was it??) the British Psychological Assoc?? . . .

God, I've lost count of the number of ways he lied

I'd love to read those contracts, and I dont belive they are actually are religious contracts and are corperate contracts with
the Corp known as Church of Scientology.

Someone really needs to test those contracts in a court of law as to whether they constitute a valid contract between an individual
and that Corperation, no doubt it will eventually happen if its not already happening.

Thanks Karen good video :)

What $cn counts on, is that few of the people who sign such contracts have the $$$ to even arrive in court, and of those few, hardly any has the $$$ to out-last $scn lawyers, who will depose, delay, motion, and generally try their hardest to make the other guy spend more money than he has on his lawyers.

If that doesn't look like it will work, there's always a settlement with $$$ for non-disclosure.

There are several free apps that allow you to download YouTube videos, either the full video or just to strip out an mp3 of the sound.

Paul

Thanks, I've read about that. I'm already interested in such programs at last for acquiring some songs that are simply not available for purchase. I'm not sure, though, whether that trick will be of use for reducing my traffic. As I understand, the full video would have to be "streamed" from Youtube to my computer anyhow, even when my program saves it for me and, if chosen, separates the sound. I mean, since Youtube does not really make files available for download, in different versions etc, it's not that my program can advise them to " :prettyplease: " send only the sound data...? Riiight... or not? (I've read that, but so far no clue whether it is correct.) I've already splitted sound from video using MovieMaker. Indeed some people might be interested in listening to some of the longer stories on the MP3 player on the way, while not being aware of the technical possibility, so it's good that this has been mentioned anyhow.

I've splitted (and cut) some of my own vids of bird songs -- not much to see when the typical nightingale man does his gig. >> :hattip: :sing: :happydance: :buzzin: >> :hattip: >> :flamewar: >> :hattip: :hattip: :sing: :sing: :happydance: :happydance: :buzzin: :buzzin: >> :dieslaughing:

Requiring signatures before getting services is yet ANOTHER control method. Just being friendly or even Ethics isn't enough! IF the COS services were actually delivering results, the COS wouldn't need the threats.

Weird. Just freaking weird.

The Scientology culture is one of THREAT. Threat that you will be punished, that you will *LOSE* your spiritual freedom, your spiritual eternity, your friends, your family, and all rights if you do not obey. It is constant pressure, constant threat as a staff member. Public who are paying good money experience a different *EDITION* or version of Scientology. And even many public have a rough time, especially with the enforced loss of family members.
The humorous part of it is that Scientologists believe they are a*Superior* and *Elite*

A lot of this rang true for me.

I was a member of public and I got a Non-Enturbulation Order for telling anyone who listened that RTC were a bunch of squirrels.

Unfortunately for the cult it had the opposite effect on me than the one intended. I took my org to court to get back money I had on account and I also got all of my money back from the IAS.

In return I got Declared, which meant I had no more junk mail and incessant phone calls asking for money.

I definitely got the best of the deal.

Excellent video! Love where you are going with these videos, Karen and Jeff.

It's information like this that helps educate the public on the truth about the church 'ethics' and 'justice' systems of Scientology.

It's facts like this that will help people be able to sue Scientology in a court of law, or continue to do so, as opposed to being forced into using Scientology's biased, unfair internal complaint / justice system. The proof is in the pudding.

It is tragically ironic 'humor' that the scnos consider themselves superior. And isn't it just so obvious how that displays itself - look at Kirstie . . . The utter arrogance of it is pitiful. There is a reason the woman cannot control her oral fixations/addictions. The sense of True Self is tortured by the dissonance. Hard to quiet the noise, so it gets drowned out, like with any addict, by succumbing to one's substances of choice. Cocaine/Drugs, traded for auditing, and/or food/smoking/sex.

But clang clang clang goes the noise of cognitive dissonance, like a Judy Garland song, like the trolley, clang, clang clanging down the tracks.

And so the 'mass/mob hysteria' of attacks on anyone who causes more dissonance must be utterly RUTHLESS - to silence the OUTER voices echoing the inner distress.

That is the 'other' way of distracting people from the tug of their own consciences, from the internal distressful noisiness, the silenced screaming going on inside - that something is WRONG in scno/co$ . . .

Scapegoating, as old as mankind, and very cruel and savage. Scnos have perfected it, beyond most cults and totalitarian regimes. Emotionally/mentally torture 'stoning' those who step out of line . . . Pasting all their sins onto a goat and chasing the poor creature into the wilderness.

But, the ironic twist here, is that the 'wilderness' is FREEDOM - TRUE FREEDOM. Lucky us. Aghhh, yes, it is a mental prison - that scno/co$ . . . So much for superiority. The lucky ones escape.

Yes, the lucky ones get out, one way or another, whether totally losing it and going psychotic, at the mental torture, the scno Evil vs one's own Goodness, or is tossed out, for whatever reason, and declared. Be proud all Ye SPs, a badge of honor, when you think of the courage it takes, to take a stand, against the overwhelming barrage of scno suppression on any person who HONESTLY EXPRESSES their TRUE SELF & CONSCIENCE/INDIVIDUALITY, in the face of the co$ Evil - whether in open defiance, or by mental collapse, at not being able to stomach the EVIL anymore. Consider it a Saving Grace - that 'sense of true self' that finally gets heard and acted upon, one way or another. The Soul Saving the Person - by any means.

And the fight against the Evil continues every time someone speaks out, tells their story, puts on a mask, carries a sign, does a protest, writes a book, article, comment, makes a post, a video, takes a stand - with all of us, out here, who KNOW the truth about scno/co$/lrh/dm - and wants it to end.

:bravo: to you all. And thank you, Karen. Keep on telling it. Your quiet ways make a big noise.:clap:

Nice work Karen and team. Thank you! :)

It has provoked some thoughts so here they are:

Internal justice is a dangerous slippery slope for a group to take. There has to be, to some extent, external checks and balances for any group to remain healthy. Scientology fights any and all possible external "interference" in many many ways.

The justice system of scientology is, of course, based on the grandiose concepts of Hubbard. He claimed to have the answers to everything and the external world was just full of dumb, ineffective, abberated, morons that could only improve their status/worthiness by participating in his scientology. In one or two easy moves, this places the group above domestic laws. No citizen, no group, is above the law. Every man, woman and child, in theory, is equally positioned before the law (yes we all realise this is often pure ideology but it is a decent concept nonetheless, imo). It isn’t really more complicated than that in most western nations. One law for all, though the access to certain due process varies depending on various factors such as financial limitations.

The scientology system walls the individual off from accessing external legal processes, claiming to have “superior justice tech” (this actually extends further to such things as employment arbitration tribunals and so forth). This is dangerously arrogant at best, and at worst it actually moves towards becoming - and enabling - criminal behaviour. The scientology system is also constantly in violation of international human rights codes. One day I plan to write about this using my own experience(s). The fact that scientology deals with criminal issues internally (Monique admits this in that clip), is serious stuff. We see time and time again, accounts of scientology opting individuals out of domestic law(s) in the many accounts of rapes being “handled” internally and various other abuses. It is very dubious to prevent a citizen accessing the full range of legal process available to every citizen of a nation. I am no lawyer but I do know a couple of things about this stuff from having to deal with the cult legally threatening me and discussions I had with lawyers at that time. Plus I was involved in legal stuff when I was a CCHR staff member so got the opportunity to talk to legally trained people and explore some legal concepts.

This was one of the definitive motivations for my leaving scientology. It became blatantly obvious to me that my legal rights as a NZ citizen had been seriously eroded by my participation in the cult. My access to tribunal arbitration, to freedom of speech, etc, had all been eroded and/or dissolved. I am first and foremost a citizen of New Zealand. No one and nothing can erode or tamper with it. I am here on equal terms with every other citizen. Scientology attempted to contract me out of that (via staff contracts, etc). No can do. The cult challenged me on this and I challenged them to explore this issue in court. The cult went silent. No one can contract me out of my rights as a citizen of my nation (there are exceptions but they are complicated and irrelevant in this instance). Religious status, charity status, etc, does not contract a citizen out of their obligations to uphold the laws of their nation or to freely participate in accessing the full range of legal remedies offered under domestic statute.

The systemically installed phobias used by scientology i.e. "you will lose your freedom, your eternity if you don’t tow the line” is a powerful control mechanism. It sure as hell held me tight for far too many years. It is more effective than barbed-wire fences in many ways. A mental prison is cheaper to build and requires little to no maintenance and best of all, it is invisible to external influences - those that could potentially monitor any violations of the laws pertaining to personal liberty (ref: magna carta). The mentally imprisoned person does all the work, self-monitors because of the intense fear installed about losing their “eternal freedom”. More abhorrent than even that, the cult member pays (with time, money, devotion, etc) to remain mentally imprisoned.

I (privately) predicted a few years ago that scientology will ultimately destroy itself because of its “us and them” system. This issue of walling citizens off from full access to domestic law(s) is non-sustainable. We are witnessing this more and more with ex's speaking out about the crimes they have seen being dealt with, badly, within scientology. Any group must interact in a healthy transparent way with the external world if it is to go the long haul. Scientology does not. Scientology cannot make old bones.

Not sure the above is smooth and/or entirely coherent. I suspect it needs more work but posting it any way. :)

Only a paranoid organization carries on like this to new people walking in the door. Absolute paranoia.
Protection of Scientology no how many wasted souls left in the trail has always been of prime importance. It's loosely called "security."
Now in more recent times, 4 contracts are signed, with plenty of fine print. There is no opportunity to take these out of the Church to show a lawyer. That would be considered TREASONABLE. These 4 contracts take away all power from the hapless newbie. It is all 100% in favor of Church interests.
In the first contract, the person signs that they understand and agree Scientology is a RELIGION. That they agree it is a RELIGION and that all subsequent actions are *RELIGIOUS" !!!
The public are not given a copy of what they signed and apparently no one asks for a copy of these 4 "religious contracts" designed by their many lawyers to protect the Church from law suits and more
.

Well done Karen. You have certainly done a good job of describing one of the nastiest things that Scientology does - disconnection.

Disconnection is a good example of second order punishment, that is, punishing people for not punishing others. It is such an insidious and cruel form of punishment that once it is set up, there is no rule, however ridiculous, however horrible that cannot be enforced.

That is how they are able to get families to harm each other.

The more light you shine on it, the harder you make it for them to continue to do.

Thanks again Karen.

As far as Committees of Evidence were concerned, while for the most part the verdict was pre-ordained by the Convening Authority, as of the early 1980's it did occasionally happen that the accused was found not guilty. I experienced this on both sides of the table.

As a member of a CommEv, we were looking into a case in the SO where a couple had sex before marriage. Although they were planning on getting married, they had sex one night. I personally thought the whole cycle was silly, so I went to the seniors (neither of whom really wanted their people RPF'ed, which likely made the difference), got their stat graphs (which were up-trending) and made the point that they were upstat, and therefore shouldn't be punished, and they got off that one.

As a target of a CommEv, during my OT eligibility cycle, I was being subjected to a false charge, based upon somebody's reading of some reports about an incident. Fortunately, I had retained enough documentation about the incident that I was able to convince the committee that I was a good guy.

In both cases, the deciding factor was that the accused didn't have a senior exec really being after their scalp, so the Comm-Ev was half-hearted. The deciding factor, as Karen points out, is that if a senior exec is really pissed at you, and you have no powerful protectors, then you are toast. The Comm-Ev committee members operate with the knowledge that they, individually, can be next if they balk the senior exec who brought the charges, if the exec really wants the target convicted.

As far as "Non Enturbulation Orders" are concerned, at the org level they are not that easy to get. (note: my familiarity with this as as of the early to mid 80's) HCO has to go through essentially the same process as getting an SP declare order, getting the packet of data and paperwork to the IJC and getting approval. A non-enturbulation order was really a pre-approved declare, with local HCO just having to pull the trigger if the target did one more thing. For a Sea Org missionaire or OSA, I would imagine the process was much more streamlined.

I knew a guy who got a non-enturb order. He was a local Scn business owner who was already on the shit list. The prior year, his business partner had agreed to have the business buy an IAS Patronship out of business funds (he was buying himself out of some ethics situation). My friend balked at this, and refused to give approval for this, so IAS was pissed off at him already. Then his partner wanted my friend to buy him out of the business for XXX amount of money, allegedly so he could join the Sea Org. My friend balked at this -- the business was effectively bankrupt, there WAS no equity to buy out the partner, and paying out the money would put my friend at legal risk from the bankruptcy court, and make him personally liable. WISE was pressuring my friend, and ultimately put him under non-enturb for his refusals.

I advised my friend to go ahead with the bankruptcy, so as not to put himself at legal risk, and take the partner's payout off the table. He was ultimately declared (which didn't bother him, he wasn't really all that into Scn), and his wife left him (which was also to his benefit -- she was a leach who spent all his money on auditing services, and had no further interest in him once the money dried up). He moved away and started over.

The problem with "internal justice procedures", is that they proceed according to internal organizational priorities. They seek the welfare of the organization, rather than objective justice for the individual. Over time, "the welfare of the organization" becomes interpreted as "the welfare and desires of senior executives".

Under Communism and other totalitarian dictatorships, one could be punished for associating with "enemies of the State". The reason was that the State could not tolerate the ideas of certain people being allowed to percolate into the rest of society, so all who declined to denounce the "politically incorrect"(the term came from Communism, to describe people who were not speaking according to the Party Line) could be hit. Often they were hit anyway.

Scientology is especially vulnerable to people finding out about abuses, disreputable data about LRH and senior execs, and info about how bad the tech is.

I think it is like the old idea of selling your soul to the devil. Brandon Smith a doomer financial guy I read some recently wrote an article about the battle for your soul which made sense to me in a general sort of way even if I didn't agree with some of the specifics. I am not going to link to it but it should be easy enought to find at www.altmarket.com if you want.

I feel I never sold my soul to Scn but it made me a lost soul for a while. This is what I talking about in Mockingbird's insidious enslavement thread. About auditing taking away stable data and the training putting in hubbard approved stable data. When one accepts Hubbard's ideas I feel you are selling your soul to Scn.

It is easier to repair a lost soul than a soul that has been sold to the devil(Scientology)

good Video Karen and Jeff

Point I think made about "we handled it interenally" is really key.

Catholic church tried that with their child abuse problems.

I forget the university that recently had a football coach and
they tried to handle it internally.

Sounds very quaint this idea of internally as if it was being "responsible"
when in fact it is placing themselves and their law above civil law.

Our police, our court, our executive branch, our law maker. ?

even disconnection is nothing more than CO$ handing down a restraining order
per their justice system.

It does'nt have the force of law, only by force of agreement does disconnection
have any power.

The hubris of hubbard passed down to his group as being above the law
is their weak point and I believe will eventually be their undoing.

And like so many cases of scandal its not the crime but the coverup
that eventually takes them down, ask the Nixon Administration ask Governor of Virginia
ask that college with their football coach, ask Anthony Wiener ask the Mormons how far
you get with policy that takes your church law above the law of the land.

Ask the catholic church how did that work out for you ?

Yes . . . spot on exact bulls-eye point!

The insanity of the "org" and its indoctrinated staff membership is that they have descended into the criminality of the use of threat, duress and intimidation to bend folks will and override their folks volition and free choice . . . by definition that is a criminal activity.

The insanity and deceit of the whole Scientology enterprise now days is that folks have been indoctrinated into the false belief that Scientology doctrines "are the only way out" and this false proposition and belief is what put folks in fear when their "spiritual immortality and eternity" is threatened to be taken away from the person "unless" the person does as demanded of them.

It was done to me in 1983 in New York City . . . and even as a paying customer (public) at the Scn "Mecca of Technical Perfection" when I was ordered to do the dishes in the staff kitchen "or other wise" instant Declare and out!

This nonsense and criminal conduct is delineated in my write up here:
Lies and Deceit of the Cof$ . . .
http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?11823-The-Lies-and-Deceit-of-the-Church-of-Scientology

Well, it turns out it is a FALSE THREAT . . . your eternal future and spiritual redemption is NOT affected in any way by the Scientology enterprise's threats or actions against you. They are lying and they are only sending themselves down to perdition because of it . . . this because, any decent person knows it is not OK to use threats to bend another's self determinism . . . that is one of the most ugly things any individual can do to another . . . and particularly so when it is all based on a LIE and use of deceit!

And so, their falsehoods and evil makes them more and more frantic in their need to get what they are finding is more and more difficult to get by their methods of deceit and crime against decency and good people.

Fortunately I missed out on the joys of a Comm Ev and Non-enturb order, but the Court of Ethics I did have was bad enough. I certainly witnessed the effects of these mechanisms on others. The whole idea of Scientology justice is such a joke - as you point out - the rest of the Western world did away with this Star Chamber mentality centuries ago. And these are the people who are going to create this brave, new world where "innocent" people have rights... yeah, right!

It's a great point about Monique Yingling - a lawyer - justifying why Scientology is above the law and entitled to their own system of "justice".

I once saw the Non-Enturbulation Order used to members of my own family. Because one or more of those people is still in the cult, I'll just refer to them as "BOY" and the "GIRL", or better yet, the "One" and the "Other".

Well, the boy and girl were young and in love. They lived together and were loyal Scientologists in every respect. They dutifully did their courses and auditing and donated every penny they could to their church. Being quite young, they didn't earn much so they didn't have much at all to give--but they had love and happiness. Then, one sunny day, the Sea Org recruiters went to work on them.

One of them made it clear that they were not going to sign a billion year contract.

The other seemed to be willing to at least consider it.

The recruiters smelled blood. Day and night they did "briefings" and "handling" and other highly manipulative methods of coercion to get the "other" to sign away the rest of their life.

The one that rejected joining the Sea Org was beginning to fear the worst...that their soul mate might join and leave them. That would have understandably been devastating. So, naturally, the one was talking to the other about such a shocking detour to the life that they were so lovingly planning together. The Sea Org recruiters stepped up their game--they became relentless at taking the other into long and psychologically debilitating sales sessions.

That's when it happened. The one was starting to get to the other as the specter of their relationship being destroyed began to loom with immediacy. The coupled dared to talk about what was happening! This enraged the recruiters who promptly slapped a Non-Enturbulation Order on the one that had the "counter intention" to the Sea Org (and thereby, was deemed to be sabotaging the Clearing of the Planet and other dark dreams of L. Ron Hubbard).

What did the publishing of a Non-Enturbulation Order intend to do? Simple. It very forcefully threatened (terrorized in fact) the one party to stop talking to their mate about joining the Sea Org. The recruiters did not want to lose that war and they could feel their new slave recruit starting to slip between their fingers, so they acted with speed and brutality.

The one called me to discuss it, for advice--or perhaps just to have someone in the world to express their dreadful upset with. How in the world, they wondered, was it possible for someone to threaten them with DECLARE (and loss of all their friends, family and job) simply because they dared to talk to their own "2D"?

It always surprises a Scientologist when they find themselves caught in the crosshairs of a totalitarian nightmare, where Scientology applies the "tech" to them "without remorse".

Well, that's how the "game where everyone wins" is played in the cult of Scientology. If you don't obey their orders, they resort to terrorism, mayhem or worse.

The last chapter in this little horrible drama is that the "other" ended up not joining and the couple is still together so many years later. But they are still in the clutches of the insane cult and have no idea that they are just meaningless pawns being used & exploited by their beloved "church".
