What's new

Marty Rathbun raises his head, and starts squawking PART 2

Who has he not betrayed - ???? He's even betrayed himself.

And apparently, without remorse . . . for any of it.

It also has occurred to me that he got wife to dump the lawsuit, so she hasn't got any future money coming in - on her own. It now is all on him, with his videos of lies and hate - and she is dependent on him. Bound to him. And can't leave. Or so he thinks. Well, I imagine Katey was in a similar situation, once upon a time - and she found a way to sneak out - and she took her kid. A woman is capable of extraordinary things - including lies and betrayal, and some damn good acting - to protect her children - and / or herself . . .

Have you ever had a full-time job you would have loved to give up forever? Perhaps Mosey is in that situation and if Marty is getting big money he will make that happen, and share it with her, and send their son to college.

This isn't to say Mosey couldn't have been led by Marty to stick through a trial. But consider what that would have meant -- most likely YEARS of waiting to see any money, and years of appeals, court appearances etc., all against an organization which has limitless funds to drag things out. Wollersheim had to wait 8 years. Laura D is years into her case with CoS.

Have you ever gone to court? I did once. It was such a minor thing I didn't even need an attorney and was willing to pay the small fine. However, the whole thing was so upsetting. It's like a cancer at the center of your life, until it's over.

So if you listen to Marty, I don't think he believes half the stuff he's saying, and the way he's delivering it, like he's got bodies buried in the basement (an apt description), he doesn't expect others to believe him either.

Katie Holmes was in a different situation. She had her own money -- millions, in fact. Any career boost she got from marrying Tom Cruise was over by the time she divorced him.

Of course, Mosey may leave Marty at some point, because she doesn't like being around him, or he's too controlling or whatever, but it's hard to know what was going on, how much pressure they felt with the case, what years of being followed and spied on is like. Marty's betrayals of others is infuriating on the surface, but they are so outlandish that most people are not hurt by them.

Even with the email he submitted to hurt the Israeli indie's case, that was thrown out. Maybe Marty figured it would be.

They had two choices and took the one that would make their lives free of being hounded by the cult. We don't know what Marty's "work" will entail, but perhaps it will mean one day in the studio making these jerky videos every six months or so. And Mosey won't have to do anything.

Reveals no integrity - if this is the case - and again, not very good or decent for a human to have no integrity, not even to self. I couldn't live like that, at least not happily. We all like to think money buys happiness and peace of mind, but unless one is a sociopath, the nightmare dreams of one's 'crimes' will haunt forever - unless one is in scno/co$ and/or getting scno auditing, which can very deeply bury that 'sense of guilt and shame' for having sold out one's friends and integrity - bury it - until it won't stay buried anymore. Night of the living dead, dead man walking - the walking dead . . . . There always comes a reckoning - eventually - with one's own sense of self - at the very least - - unless one is a sociopath. And we all know scno/co$ nurtures that sociopathic tendency in its 'subjects/objects'. If M&M are in that place, they will enjoy the money for as long as possible. But crap like this, living this kind of a stained and shadow life, leaves its 'mark' - on the the persons and their offspring . . . Sooner or later the karmic return comes due. And karma is a bitch.

So much for his concern about his wife and kid. This legacy (scenario) is rotten to its core. But then Marty never had a chance to cultivate his conscience. It seems he sold it a long time ago - to scno/co$/dm. For power. What do his wife and kid get - besides money? And him :)puke2:). It makes my skin crawl just thinking about it.

I couldn't do what he has done. Not ever. Crap, I feel bad about squashing a spider (not so much about cockroaches - as my comments on M show) - I even feel bad about eating meat/fish . . . . Abuse of animals and children and good people tears my heart out when I read about it - injustice angers me no end. And scum like M just make my skin crawl. But they always get theirs. In the end.

What he has done is just pure Evil. This is one of the lowest places a person can go - a minus 99, just above ultimate criminality at minus 100 - (sub-human). That's my Tone Scale.

<snip>They had two choices <snip>

Dependency may appear to be love because it is a force that causes people to fiercely attach themselves to one another. But in actuality it is not love; it is a form of antilove. It has its genesis in a parental failure to love and it perpetuates the failure. It seeks to receive rather than to give. It nourishes infantilism rather than growth. It works to trap and constrict rather than to liberate. Ultimately it destroys rather than builds relationships, and it destroys rather than builds people.
M. Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.
Henry David Thoreau

When you lose something in your life, stop thinking it's a loss for you... it is a gift you have been given so you can get on the right path to where you are meant to go, not to where you think you should have gone.
Suze Orman

For every path you choose, there is another you must abandon, usually forever.
Joan D. Vinge

A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.
Jean de La Fontaine

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.

So it's just one point above genocide or being a serial killer? Seriously? That seems like an quite an exaggeration.

What Marty is doing seems like it's going to bother you more than it will bother him. Don't let it bother you! Miscavige is having a "win" if it makes you sick. That's the reaction he would like to get out of critics of Scientology. Miscavige would like people to hate Marty, and never trust their ex-Scientologist friends again.

I'm not religious, but one good thing I got out of being raised a Christian was the concept of forgiveness and what it can do for the person who has it in their heart to be able to forgive people who have hurt them, or committed crimes against others, or even humanity. Otherwise you just suffer with hatred and frustration, and go screaming into the night that all there is to do is drink yourself to death or worry all the time.

When Debbie Cook took a settlement there were people here who wanted to crucify her, practically. And this was in a case where CoS brought the court case against her! Shit, I would have done exactly what she did if I had been in her position. The stress of the court thing was killing her. She had health problems.

With Marty, all I can think is I don't know what it would be like to go through what he has been through. He already risked quite a lot by being as outspoken and critical of David Miscavige as he was, and then I really liked when he started thinking critically about Hubbard and Scientology, even though it meant losing a lot of his followers. It seemed like he was being honest then. I liked that Marty. I thought he'd grown a lot.

Sometimes karma doesn't seem to work at all in one life. That's why people have to believe in hell or a next life. Because when someone gets away with something they don't like, they want to see them punished. Likewise, they see innocent children die of painful diseases, and they want that kid to have another chance, or believe something about their suffering caused by something they did in a past life. However, these ideas are also used to control people.

I, too, deliberate about killing insects. I'm awaiting arrival of aliens who are so large, or advanced, that we are like insects to them. But since I'm getting kind of old, I'm just going to work on being as happy as I can, and do what I can to help here and there.

Marty could be their "Star" at their TV Station.

:hysterical:

HellYeah!

They could format Marty's hit show using the successful actions of "The Tonight Show" (think Johnny Carson, Jay Leno...).

Show opens each night with big band fanfare, as a super-uptone Marty comes jogging out from behind the curtain and does a few minutes of stand-up comedy. He kills it with a joke that begins: "So, true story, a lawyer, an MAA and a defrocked apostate walk into a bar....."

Moments later, camera pans audience laughing at the punchline: "...so the bartender looks at the Apostate and goes--'Hey, sorry to eavesdrop buddy, but you should really make that deal, cuz either way you suck cock on Hollywood Boulevard. I mean if you're gonna be a lyin' whore your whole life, take the money so at least you'll be an upstat one!' "

As they cut to commercial, everyone in the studio is now line charging, including Marty's co-host--who is pretending to laugh so hard he has to wipe tears from his eyes. The sidekick role could be played by a hyperbolic Ed McMahon type, like LRH biographer/COB speechwriter Dan "McMullet" Sherman.

:hysterical: That's quite a psychopathic quote!

Path me that pitcher of beer, please...

A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.
Jean de La Fontaine

Thanks for the quotes JS! I love that one especially!

Isn't Scn itself an effort to avoid one's destiny (or maybe Karma)? Like Hubs, who ended up defeated and a failure in the end. What he wanted was fame, glory, and accolades. He didn't quite end up with that, instead obsessed with BTs.

He was trying to offer the false hope of becoming a God, to avoid the "human condition" which might just be impossible. Yeah, there's such a thing as improvement, betterment. But Total Freedom or Super Powers???

Not quite.

Some of the targets of Marty's videos might be those that have left scientology but haven't spoken out yet. Leah has created a platform for those speaking out for the first time and this might be an attempt to sabotage that by painting a sordid view for those still caught in the confusion scientology causes in a person's mind.

 Yeh, Hubs was trying to avoid the fact he was a mediocre sci-fi writer who would never earn more than a few cents a word with legitimate writing because he didn't have the talent.

That quote means a lot to me, too. I was a runaway when I joined. Talk about avoiding life and running away from problems, decisions and confrontations.

It was when I decided to leave scn that I realized all I'd missed in real life by diving into past lives and living in the scn bubble world. It was a hard lesson in courage and humility, but a good one.

I love that quote, too.

Your destiny is sort of inevitable.

I've never been a believer in destiny, fate, karma - call it what you will. As for 'as ye sow so shall ye reap' (that is what Margaret Purser wrote in my autograph book on the last day of our primary school education in 1957) I don't believe that either.

It would be very nice if somebody who has led a thoroughly wholesome industrious life and has benefited humanity by his/her actions were rewarded. I have known several people like that and they are all dead, some of them suffering a great deal before they passed.

Yours truly, whose existence has been for the most part a total waste of time as far as the rest of the human race is concerned, is still here.

Oh yes, but did you know that ...

destiny is the "destination" of the journey, karma the feedback of "your" actions therein and fate the impact of "other" upon you while you are on the way? :)
