Scientology recognizes there are three barriers to study: (1) The Misunderstood Word: (2) Too Steep a Gradient; and (3) Lack of Mass. Nation of Islam Brother Luqman Muhammad explains these barriers to study can be understood through the teachings of the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and the Supreme Wisdom of the Nation of Islam.
I'm posting this to demonstrate the efforts being made by some NOI members to reconcile their membership in the NOI with their participation in Scientology.

The Technology of Study has been a tool given to us that has helped me tremendously with regards to the understanding of any subject matter.
Identifying the Three Barriers to Understanding has removed great obstacles and has helped me tremendously over these years of being on course.
1. The Misunderstood Word
2. Too Steep a Gradient
3. Lack of Mass
I won’t go into each in detail but I would like to pose the question.
Are these Three Barriers found in the teachings of the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad?
Have we already been given these three keys but somehow they were overlooked?
The first concept is the Misunderstood Words.
A sentence is like a Mathematical equation. There are words contained in the sentence that may act as variables. If the variable remains unknown then the equation cannot be solved.
The same principle applies to our use of words. If a word is misunderstood then the sentence is vague.
In the study of Linear Algebra, also known as Matrix Algebra, the student is given multiple equations that must be solved simultaneously.
The variable of one equation must be understood in order to solve the remaining equations. This principle also applies to our Problem Book.
Words make up sentences and sentences make up paragraphs. Paragraphs make up pages and pages make up chapters. Misunderstanding one word may diminish our true grasp of an entire chapter.
We have been taught in our Supreme Wisdom in Rule # 3 … “But there is more to be understood in the words.”
With regards to the significance of gradient, the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad has taught us that when you feed a baby you have to give it milk. You cannot give a baby meat.
This teaches us that the gradient must be in agreement with the student’s ability to understand. Give too much information and more harm than help can be done.
This phrase corresponds to the concept of Too Steep a Gradient.
Finally, regarding the Lack of Mass, we have been taught in Closing the Gap that Master Fard Muhammad taught the early converts through the use of pictures.
“Now, let’s look at the quality of the persons with whom the master first dealt. What was their condition? They were totally in the dark. They were a very ignorant people. So, Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom praise is due forever, taught them in a language that was the way you teach babies. You teach babies using words that conjure pictures. The picture is not the truth. But the truth is contained in the picture. But as long as the picture remains in the brain, as you mature in understanding, then you can reach into the picture and extract the principle of truth that lies therein.” (Closing the Gap, page 19)
Along with these three concepts I would like to offer a three more. 1. We must understand the Nature or Essence of what we are studying. 2. We must be able to see the Presence of Allah (God) in what we study and 3. We must be able to apply the concepts under examination to the Study of Self.
“Almighty Allah has taught me that if we study the universe and the nature of the earth: its plants, animals and insect life; if we study this part of Allah’s creation and the natural laws working among them, we will have the key to understanding of the way of life intended by God for you and me. This is the language of a scientist.” (Closing the Gap, pg. 312)
The importance of the Study of Allah (God) and the application to Self is found in A Torchlight for America, pages 48 – 51.
There are many concepts found in our Study of Dianetics and the principles of Scientology that are already present in what we have received from the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and the Hon. Min. Louis Farrakhan.
We must go back and reexamine the Teachings we have received to extract more principles that are still dormant in His words.
Remember, what we have is the “Fulfillment of the Prophecies of All Former Prophets..."
What is the meaning of “Fulfillment"?
Fulfillment means; to convert into reality, to develop the full potentialities of something, to bring about the successful completion of a process rather than the means of carrying it out.
Even if we study the wisdom, principles or ideas of other Schools of Thought our job is “Fulfill” what we study. Our job is to bring Every concept, Every Subject to the next level.
That is why it is called Supreme Wisdom.
Peace.
