You could do this with a Monopoly-type board game, where you throw dice and keep going round and round the board, since every day at Flag one repeats the same sort of activities and has to run the same gamut of threats.

The "Community Chest"-type cards could be replaced with relevant Scn ones. Since Scienoworld these days is so full of arbitraries on case actions, mandatory attendances to this and that, etc etc it would be completely real to land on squares assigning arbitrary ethics conditions etc. Even a "Get out of Ethics Free" card.

Much easier to design than a Flash video game, as you can make a board out of cardboard and paper. Easier to crowdsource from ESMB posts too. :)

This could really be made into a parody. Instead of buying 'houses" and "hotels" to put on Your property, you could buy Ideal Org Buildings and Ideal Org Designs and Furnishings to put on C OF S'S Properties. The biggest Real Estate Purchase would be to finish the Super Power Building. The one who achieved this would win the game.

On "Chance" a "Community Chest" cards, you would pay the Bank (C of S). The Bank would never pay you. Instead of a card such as "Advance to St. Charles Place", you could get, "Advance to the Super Power Registrar", Advance to the NOTS Guidance Center Registrar, Advance to the L10, L11 and L12 Reg, etc. Instead of a card such as "Take a Ride on the Reading Railroad", you could get, "Take a Ride on the the Flag Bus from the Tampa Airport and be regged $35,000 for your Super Power Cornerstone Donation.

Oh yes, we were very, close until 1984 when he left C of S and I remained in. We both heard the same Scio intro lecture at the L.A. Org on June 5, 1970 and were both signed up for the communications course that same night. We both were Celebebrity Centre Sea Org staff members at the same time. I told the story already on another thread soon after Clarence arrived on ESMB. I made an attempt to reconcile but he would have no part of it.

I saw that he was kicked off of ESMB sometime in July for making extremely hostile comments about Christians in general and Jesus in particular.

He is brilliant in foreign languages and was a superlative emcee for events held at CCLA in the old days. He is fluent in German and Japenese and can get by in Spanish and French but his main forte is Yiddish, a derivative of German mixed with Hebrew, Russian, Polish and whatever. Never was there a better or funnier teller of Jewish jokes. I am not too bad myself and then there was a CC public named Dan Linker who was better than I was and then Clarence was the ne plus ultra - the best of the group. The three of us used to hang out in New York George's restaurant across from the Blue Complex of Buildings in L.A. and tell jokes, mostly Yiddish jokes. Those were the days. The punchlines were so funny that sometimes we almost peed in our pants, laughing so hard.

Clarence could speak in almost every dialect which existed in England. You name the part of England, Scotland or Ireland and he could speak in their dialect and also he knew everything there was to know about the local slang and customs. He had the same facility in German. He could speak with a Berlin dialect, a Munich dialect but his best was his Swabian dialect. He lived for extended times in both Germany and Japan.

What's odd, perhaps, is that your description resonates with me. I never met him-or you- yet everything you said comes as no surprise.

I think that, even with his wilder nature showing here sometimes, that his intelligence shone through. (Not being sarcastic.)

Yes, he is very intelligent in many areas. He was (probably still is) an excellent writer. His favorite genre is Children's novels. When he was living with me, just before we joined Scn, he wrote a science fiction novel. He sent it in to a major publisher and got a long letter back which he showed me. Basically, they were going to publish his book but they wanted two changes made: First, he wrote it in the "first person" and the editor wanted it written in the "third person". Second, there was no romance or sexual content and the editor wanted him to add some sex scenes.

This was in 1969. Clarence refused to make the changes. I begged him and pleaded with him to make the changes and get the novel published by a major publisher. He was arrogant and took the attitude that he would not compromise his writing just to comply with popular standards of the day. I argued that he do whatever it took to get the book published, enphasing that once he was published and made a name for himself, then he could do things HIS way. While he was an unknown he was better off doing things the Editor's way. This was a watershed moment in his life but he remained rigid and refused to budge. TO THIS DAY, I BELIEVE THAT HAD HE DONE WHAT THE EDITOR HAD ASKED, HE WOULD HAVE HAD THAT NOVEL PUBLISHED AND BECOME A SUCCESSFUL WRITER!!.

The person most like him in talents was a 20th century comedian named Danny Kaye. Danny was one of the greats on radio and in the movies in the mid 20th century. He did not do too much TV, however. Danny had all the dialects and mannerisms down for each country just like Clarence. Also, they were both Jewish, yet both had blond hair and blue eyes. They looked somewhat alike.

God, is it a horrible thing that I know who Danny Kaye is and think it's weird that he is being talked about as someone only old people would know about?

Nothing surprises me anymore. One of these talk radio guys goes around asking public people general knowledge questions. One person 18 or 19 was asked where Poland was located and they answered "In South America". Another good one was me asking my 24 year old secretary what country Hitler ran. The young woman answered that it was either Russia or Germany but she wasn't sure which.

In my mind, most younger people would not know about Danny Kaye. He just did not do much television. He lived all the way up to 1987 (born in 1913) but he did not do much after the late 1950's, at least that I can remember. If a younger person knew him, it would almost have to be someone that loves the classic movies of the 30's, 40's or 50's. I hope I am wrong and that many young people know him! Also, thanks Purple Rain, nice audio posted of Danny Kaye - it really illustrates his type of talent!!

Oh, I love Danny Kaye. When I was little (early-mid 80's), they used to show one of his movies on the Disney Channel a lot, the one where he played Hans Christian Andersen. I used to love that movie so much.

Did you know he supposedly had a long relationship with Laurence Olivier? Not exactly two people you would think of together!

I'm only in my mid-30s but I own both a vessel with a pestle and a flagon with a dragon, but which one holds the brew that is true depends on when I did dishes last. ;) We use film footage of Danny Kaye as part of the music and arts curriculum for 3rd-5th graders in my area, but who knows how much longer that will last with the ever ongoing slashing of 'non-essential' education. I'm not sure how many of those kiddos are likely to remember his name, but they seem to get a kick out of him, so there's that at least.

Oh, that was great! There was one I watched when I was a young girl - I think he was playing a professor in a college, and I just remember laughing and laughing and laughing. I'd love to know what movie that was.

Graphics rock on that. Love it.

The guy collecting the cash? Kinda be cool if Tommy Davis was the collector, dressed up Ideal gangsta threads (designer baggies) with super-bling OT medallions and tats. And trying to talk ebonics (but really badly) in that effeminate effete manner of his.

What is the news on Tommy Davis? I thought I read that he was ousted by DM but his silence was paid for and he took the deal.

I wish I could have gotten to know him a bit. He was not really happy with me re my defense of Christians (I'm not Christian now but I really did not agree with him on that particular issue). I am very into Edwardian children's books. My Mom's parents were from that generation and gave her lots of those books to read then she bought me the same ones. And science fiction.

I hope to someday be able to chat with Clarence again, provided I don't get black PRd to him by one of his net friends who is prone to that...

Great to hear the first part of your post. What a wonderful thing that Danny Kaye is part of your erd to 5th grade school curriculum. That pestle with a festle routine is really great! Danny Kaye was the real thing. He was a very natural and friendly person with a sophisticated aire about him. But when it comes to raw talent, he had few equals.

I actually heard from a reliable source that he was in SP Hall. No dox, sorry; you'll have to believe me that the source was reliable.

I'll have to have a look on those aerial shots by WBM for the SP Hall executive suite with kitchenette and servants quarters. Do they have onsite suit drycleaning facilities? And a garage for the SUV?

 :confused2:

I heard that over a month ago, so if they offloaded him into a paid for mansion to shut him up since the, I wouldn't know.

As an aside, can someone tell me why some people end up in SP Hall and others end up like Marty? Clearly, Marty got more than the $500 token consideration to keep his mouth shut. What's the diff between him and Heber & Co. out in SP Hall? And then there is Mike Rinder who was also offloaded, but clearly not set up Marty-style with the house and toys.

I know that Scno ethics is random, at best, but can someone explain the diff between Marty, Mike Rinder, and poor Heber who is still in the Hole?

I suspect that the difference is that both Rathbun and Rinder blew from off base.

It is surprisingly easy to do so.
