You should read Hubbard's book, Have You Lived Before, to see what kind of past lives recollections I was referring to. Portions of the book could be found at Wikipedia. Those are not regular past lives recalls, those are recollections of past lives spent on other planets (Mars, etc)., story of a boy who was attending brothels at a tender age of 6, etc.

I pity a person who would take those "past lives stories" seriously.

I never put any stock in such stories. I remember reading A History of Man and thinking that it read exactly like Science Fiction (of which I had read a great deal in my youth).

For me, my sole concern with my "past" was to "get over it", so that I no longer had any attention on it (whether real or imagined).

People who talked on and on about their past lives, who they were, blah-blah-blah, seemed so weird to me.

Maybe imagining is a better word? Unless you're talking about people who relived and/or re-experienced something, hallucination might not cover it.
"Imagining" is a word that could be used in some cases, I agree with you. However, in other cases this word is too mild, and does not describe correctly the situation.

My friend, who was an OT 3 at the time of our second meeting, was talking to the spirit of Hitler, who was hiding in the bushes. She could actually see the spirit, which was a hallucination. It was not an OT session, but it came as the result of her going up the Bridge.

I read the book Have You Lived Before when I was a Scientologist. I was laughing nonstop when I was reading it. I joined CoS after Hubbard's death, but I was told that the Founder had a terrific sense of humor. I thought that Hubbard the Comedian wrote the book. Then a fellow Scientologist told me that the book's material is serious. I thought he was crazy.

I have made a technical breakthrough which possibly ranks with the major discoveries of the twentieth century. It is certainly the greatest achievement of 1973 and is now being released after a final write-up of the research. It is called the Introspection Rundown.

HCO BULLETIN OF 20 FEBRUARY1974.

In 1970 the actual cause of PSYCHOSIS was isolated... In the ensuing years this has been proven beyond doubt to be correct.

But what is a psychotic break?

Man has never been able to solve the psychotic break. In fact, human beings are actually afraid of a person in a psychotic break and in desperation turn to psychiatry to handle.

[And here Hubbard goes on about psychiatry, ice picks, electric shocks, etc., then...]

THIS MEANS THE LAST REASON TO HAVE PSYCHIATRY AROUND IS GONE.

[Then there are the steps of the RD, and the HCOB ends with...]

THIS PLANET IS OURS.

[Then there's the HCOB of February 1974, titled...]

INTROSPECTION RD
ADDITIONAL STEPS

ISOLATION

In a person in a psychotic break, it is necessary to isolate them for them to destimulate and to protect them and others from possible damage...

There comes a point where the C/S must decide to release the person from isolation. To do this the C/S must know if the person can take responsibility for his actions...

The C/S's action is a direct comm line to the person by notes. The person is provided with paper and pen to reply. The C/S must determine the person's responsibility level. Example: "Dear Joe. What can you guarantee me if you are let out of isolation?"... "Dear Joe. I'm sorry but no go on coming out of isolation yet. Your actions threatened the survival of hundreds of people indirectly and 6 families directly by burning down their houses. You are unaware of the effects this could have had and still only concerned about your own welfare. You must hate the human race quite a bit."

[This is supposed to eventually lead to a cognition from the person being held in isolation.]

Special note for wogs, homo saps, and raw meat:

If any of this offends you or seems wacky to you, then it was meant as humorous, as an allegoric teaching tool, or as a metaphor.

I ran over 500 hours of whole track Dianetics. It was lots of fun. I would come into the org every day all excited about whatever I might "contact today" in session. Out of session, I really didn't think about it much.

I have talked to angels in deep meditation. I have contacted ascended masters. I have communed with Jesus. I have run OT III incidents on BTs and clusters.

All of it has had "positive" effects on me.

Now, the big question is "is it real"?

I can only answer in this way.

The imagination is a little understood and very powerful aspect of Man's mind. Some say that a well-controlled imagination (which probably NOBODY reading this board has developed to any substantial degree) is the doorway to other realities, other dimensions and alternate universes.

Understand that with Scientology, Hubbard doesn't teach about this and how to do it at will. He TRICKS his followers into imagining along certain lines and paths. One is not in control of the whole process. One is manipulated and directed within an exact (arbitrary) framework. Hubbard, having studied the occult, magic and eastern practices, certainly KNEW all about such things. But, he used them AGAINST his folowers, and he did NOT teach to ewpower others.

It all comes down to the eastern theory that all reality is of the nature of illusion. IF that is true, from the basic notion that spirit precedes all manifestation on a fundamental creative level (postulates, considerations), THEN the HUMAN IMAGINATION is Man's personal version or "lower harmonic" of the Creative Power of the entire Universe.

From the eastern viewpoint of Hinduism, any aspect of any reality is of the nature of make-believe. Any of it is a "lie". Any of it is an illusion. So, actually, there is no "real". Not in the sense that it exists separate from you and your mind.

It seems to me that as one gets more familiar with such things, that one also loses any great concern about whether "this is real or not". But also, the line between sanity and madness can be easily crossed with those who delve into such things.

One tends to go the insane route if one immerses oneself totally in ones own "imaginings", while neglecting the "universes of all others". Whereas, if one remains aware of and grounded in the general and detailed agreements and imaginings of ALL OTHERS, one can walk the ever-changing terrain of the imagination without too much trouble or harm.

Personally, I have never had any problem with taking great excursions in my imagination (or mind), and experiencing them with feelings and emotions, just as if they are/were REAL. From an occult view, a person who can't do THAT will never expand out of the limitations of the garden-variety, modern over-commercialized and over-materialistic human being.

There is more truth in Hubbard's writings than most can see. And, reversely, there is more deception and trickery than most can see.

I LOVE THIS ONE.. I probably agree with 99.2% of it LOLOL
Don Juan, in the Castaneda books would agree with most of it too.. If you cannot IMAGINE that there is such a thing as OT, you will never strive to move in that direction. If you cannot IMAGINE that this world which looks SO SOLID is actually ALL ENERGY with spaces in between all the "solidity".. then you would never think to SEE it as energy.. you would be "hypnotized" into the idea that it is all SOLID, period. You'd never think to look thru a wall.. etc. I don't know if YOU agree with this Gadfly, but I certainly liked your "take".

Scary shit, eh?! I only know one person who was put through this RD - she never spoke about it, but she divorced her gung ho hubby and had nothing more to do with Scn afterward. She was one of the lucky ones. She lived.

For any curious non-Scientology lurkers: "OT" is a Hubbardism, a word invented by L. Ron Hubbard, short for "Operating Thetan." "Thetan" is another Hubbardism that is used to denote a person's most intimate spiritual essence, or self.

So what?

All this everything=everything stuff gets old fast. Can we not just discuss specific pieces of tech and evaluate those independently? Last time I checked I was no longer in a cult. Everything does not equal everything else. Some things are harmful, some things less so, some not at all.

I think that Gadfly would disagree with your remark about moving in the OT direction, but let him speak for himself.

For me it is all about practicality -- what one could possibly expect after reaching the highest OT level, which is OT 15 ? (Old OT levels). That would be death, for one thing -- Hubbard was not immortal. But what comes after death? The answer depends on the individual's beliefs.

1. Scientologist XYZ believes in the existence of implant stations.
Then he cannot escape them -- remember, the Xenu victims did not have implants, yet their thetans were dragged to the implant stations by some kind of electric beam.

2. Scientologist ZYX does not believe in the existence of implant stations.
Then he did not have implants on the first place, and going OT was a waste of time.

I'm not miffed, though re-reading my reply I can understand how I gave you that impression. I do feel a little exasperated at what seems to be a tendency to lump together anything remotely connected to the subject and trying to classify it all in the same way. I happen to despise green on white, but I'd never go so far as to describe the three basket system as damaging or harmful or in any way equal to, say, Fair Game. OR KSW#1!

I WANT to dissect the tech that I studied and applied. I want to understand why the things that did work, worked. I look for those explanations outside of Hubbard's writings because I feel that he was not a trustworthy source of anything. Figuring out why the stuff worked doesn't strengthen anyone's bond to Scientology and Hubbard, it lessens it, because it makes you see that what was working came from elsewhere than "Source".

Don't mind me Veda, I am a little bit of a hothead sometimes - I took the statement at face value and that's how we got here. I'm glad I don't have to do TRs anymore because there's no way in hell I'd ever get through bullbait.

Sorry that I made my statement a direct one at you. Consider it more of a general comment on the discussion and dissection of Scientology.

Mostly, I agree with what you said. I will give a few examples though.

If a person could never imagine starting his or her own business and succeeding, it is unlikely that he or she would ever try. Generally, people who have succeeded along some avenue first IMAGINED the possibility of doing so.

And, also though, MANY people who have imagined succeeding along some avenue have FAILED.

It is not just a matter of simply imagining.

An architect first gets an idea, he entertains it in his or her imagination. Then he transfers the vision to paper, and sometimes, eventually, it gets realized in the physical universe as a building, or bridge, or whatever. And also though, there are many ideas of the imagination. many ideas of wonderful new buildings and bridges, that NEVER manifest into the physical universe.

There is some relationship here though to the "real world of possibilities".

A Muslim fanatic can imagine and dream of appearing in Heaven after detonating a suicide bomb on a bus of Israeli school children.

A Jehovah's Witness can imagine, believe and dream of surviving the End Times and existing on a Paradise on Earth with the 144,000 other "true Christians".

Having faith and imagining possibilities is obviously NOT the entire story.

If there WERE such a thing as OT abilities that could be attained through Scientology processes, then of course, imagining and believing such a thing would help one to get there. The problem is when it is all a big farce - which it largely is. Then ones misdirected imagination leads to dead ends, unrealized dreams and failures.

In the end it may be true that ALL IS POSSIBLE through a disciplined imagination, but that is NOT what Scientology teaches and delivers (keep reading).

I remember studying Rudolf Steiner when I was reading about Theosophy and Steiner's Anthroposophy. In his book, "Higher Worlds and How to Attain Them, he discussed how it greatly helps if a person had a "role model" or someone who he or she looked up to when young. Why? Because it gave the person a sense of something greater. It gave the person a view larger than him or herself. This was supposedly helpful for any person choosing to head down the "occult path".

Note: There are MANY "occult paths" and all paths are NOT created equal.

I have read quite a bit about eastern yogis, sages and Bodhisattvas. Just imagining is NOT sufficient. This is NOT day-dreaming or fantasizing. Next is the theory.

The imagination is the doorway to ALL universes. It needs to be drilled, practiced, and as one does so, new abilities and perceptions appear.

On begins by spending many HOURS and DAYS involved in mental exercises to learn to focus and concentrate - getting better and better. Part of this is developing the total and complete ability to STOP all thinking, and stop all looking at ANYTHING at will. Few even have a decent concept of what this even means, much less have the ability to do it on demand. Being able to "empty the mind" at will is simply KINDERGARTEN along this path. Most people cannot even do THAT!

A calm and empty mind is a basic prerequisite to more advanced drills with the imagination.

Next, one spends great amounts of time exercising aspects of the imagination. Imagining various shapes - circles, squares, rectangles. Imagining various solids, such as cones, spheres, boxes, etc. Changing the shapes. Keeping them there unchanging for long periods of time.

Hubbard introduced a MAJOR LIE into Scientology. He said that for things to persist, there must be a LIE. Things can also be encouraged to persist (in your mind) by sheer will and determination. You don't need to "lie about it" or "alter-is" something to make it continue. THAT is "false data", though no doubt, lies, when hidden from self, will cause various unwanted conditions to persist. But, it is not the whole deal.

Then one imagines various colors. One imagines various shapes with various colors. One makes them big. One makes them small. One imagines energy centers. One "does things" with the energy centers (chakras). This all involves incredible ampounts of practice and waking up to certain subtle aspects of a mind (your mind). THis has NOTHING to do with "auditing".

One imagines self separate from body (after having mastered a great many OTHER EARLIER drills). And, so on and so forth. This all involves the development of a practiced and disciplined IMAGINATION. This idea and practice is largely unknown to most people.

Such drills exist in various Rosicrucian practices.

Now, the theory is that once one gets REALLY GOOD at this, one begins to pull back the veil covering ALL reality and one can begin to see and control the relationship of the objective with the subjective. One can supposedly get to a point where one can create illusions for self AND OTHERS at will - to the point where one cannot tell the difference between "physical reality" and the contrived reality created by the seer or yogi.

People at this level of awareness and ability have no need or desire to enforce their visions on others - they recognize that each person must come along on his own speed and pace.

Babaji in supposedly one such entity.

He supposedly did so much extended concentration along the Chakras that his body changed colors and energy lines appeared in his permanent physical form.

images

The IMAGINATION that I am talking about is not just a matter of "oh, if I believe this it will come true". This is WAY WAY WAY PAST "belief and conviction". This involves the ability to control EVERY ASPECT of ones personal mind and imagination (and eventually others too).

Of course, Scientology has absolutely NOTHING to do with such things. Scientology is a cosmic joke (of Hubbard's). It is MANY LIES masquerading as "truth". Yes, it contains "some truth", BUT and this is key, it is NOT arranged to really HELP anybody in any serious way. It was created ONLY to "help Hubbard" (in his crazed distorted view of things). Hubbard took bits and pieces from these more advanced realms of study, and incorporated them into Scientology as part of his gimmickry and entrapment machinery. What appears from these other areas of study in Scientology is only a pale shadow of the genuine.

There is also the possibility that people who are "lower in their development" along the lines of the imagination, who believe deeply and wallow in various conceptual convictions will FIND THEMSELVES in similar related scenarios after dying this body - in what is called the "astral plane". Until one gains an ability to control the imagination, at very deep and complex levels, one will apparently continue to "go the effect" of ones own largely arbitrary self-created agreements and considerations (about all sorts of things).

Realize that a person could spend 5-10 hours a day for MANY years developing various aspects of mental concentration, focus, attention and imagining (and NOT be or go crazy). This simply involves skills that few people are aware of.

And outside of IMAGINING that such things are possible, and taking actual steps to practice such things in earnest, no amount of book study will EVER give you what "practice of such things" can deliver and provide.

But, truthfully, most people aren't that interested. :confused2:

Most people are content to live as human beings on planet Earth - which is fine. It hasn't been entirely fine for me though . . . . .

Gaddie,

Really like this post. Run across a lot of that stuff while "meditating." The other Beings (except JC), the super consciousness.

There just seems to be soooo much understanding and knowledge just sitting there waiting to be accessed. Knowledge stored in individual and group and universal consciousness.

I always wondered if that was what Hubbard was tapping. Considering what a fruitcake he was, I always wondered how he managed to see the things he did.

But he did see them. Or he wouldn't have been able to communicate some of what he did. The stuff that resonated with so many.

Problem was, he wasn't able to utilize what he saw to attain the states that apparently exist.

"Apparently" because something is operating through space and tie to fashion trees, flowers, elk, people. Fashion these things with amazing skill and complexity.

Something is "OT." But, just what?

And, why, if he saw this stuff didn't he also see the need for compassion? It's one of the things that both you and I have realized. You just can't gain a higher state of awareness without some compassion for others. It's part of higher consciousness.

Hubbard was pretty good at pretending to be compassionate, such as What is Greatness?..
