“In time we hate that which we often fear.” William Shakespeare
There are folks here on ESMB that have thousands of “Well Done” Hours in the chair. There are folks here that paid hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars for Scn "services". There are folks here that toiled decades working in Scn Orgs and Units. There are folks here that gave tens upon tens of thousands of dollars to support Scns “needs” and “causes”. And, there are folks here that were hurt, are hurting or still being hurt by Scn.
“Never fear to hurt another in a just cause,” wrote El Ron in the Scn Code of “Honor”. These words were Hisself’s personal little “escape” clause as El Ron was the sole "Source" and Scn was the "Just Cause"—always—thereby fostering and protecting the image of El Ron, The Honorable; “Mankind’s Best Friend”. The El Ron I knew was not a friend of mankind. El Ron was Hisself’s own kind and instilling fear in and the stultifying and hurting others was what El Ron was a actually a "Master" of and Hisself's true "Genius".
All of Us have experiences with Scn that sadden us, torment our minds and weigh heavy on our hearts. What saddens me, torments me and weighs heaviest is not what happened to me but what I saw happen to others I knew…and I just stood there and watched, spiritually muted and hobbled by the blinders, mask and muzzle of El Ron’s "Codes", Green “Tech” and “Red” Tech.

Kristallnacht; Shooting The Stars (cont.)
“Fear, The Padlock On ‘The Gate of Greed’”
When El Ron, overnight in a musical chaired rip off, elevated yours truly to the ranks of the Apollo’s “Inner Circle” I entered a realm that few Scns ever experienced and was, for me, the beginning of my own personal journey through the Erebus of Hisself’s life of lies.
Scns Kristallnacht was not an isolated and singular event that El Ron was “duped” or “misled” into—it was just another harvest (albeit Hisself's biggest yet) of the fruit’s from the deeply rooted, poisonous plant of El Ron’s Worldview; the Vine of Fear. The most haggard, brow beaten and emotionally squashed Crew of the Apollo, and the Midship’s Upper Decks (MUD’s), were the staff of the Household Unit (HU). These were the people that served as personal stewards, cooks, servants, butlers, facilitators and “whipping boys” to El Ron El Rey and Family.
Arthur Hubbard was a smart, sassy, bratty, mischievous, semi talented budding artist that obviously had neither the aptitude nor “juice” to ever be anything or a "Somebody" in Institutionalized Scn. He was indifferent regarding the “servants” and was not kind or unkind and diffident in interaction with the “help”.
Suzette Hubbard was an energetic, bright, fun, witty and “girl next door” cute and attractive. She had not the slightest interest or desire in being “Somebody” in Scn. She was invariably respectful and appreciative to the help and never petulant that I saw. I can clearly see why Arnie Lerma fell in love with her and she with him. Like most folks, she just wanted to have a life and what happened doesn’t surprise me in the least on El Ron’s part.
Quinton Hubbard was a very bright, sincere, kind and soemwhat fragile young man that was interested in “Wog” technology of all sorts but, in particular, was utterly infatuated with airplanes and flying. “Q”—as he was known by the inner circle folks on the MUD’s—was deeply tormented by the circumstance he was born into. Q was not only very respectful and kind to the help, some of them were among the closest and dearest friends he would have in his tragic and far too short life.
Diana Hubbard was an intelligent, aloof, status conscious, picky, prissy, Princess “Valenced” and Anorexic young adult that had absolutely no business being posted as CS-6 and, deep down inside, I personally think she knew it. Diana, depending upon her mood de jour, could be anything from gracious and “Princess-like” to vicious and shrew-like to the servants. She took up more HU staff time and attention than all three of her sibs combined.
Mary Sue I have written about somewhat extensively already on ESMB. She was the glue that bound the Hubbard’s together into some semblance of Family. She dearly loved and was deeply devoted to her children. She was a Southern Belle of sorts, impeccably mannered, fiercely loyal and tough as nails…tougher than El Ron and Hisself knew it. Her greatest weakness was her total devotion to El Ron and Hisself knew that, too. El Ron “ruled the roost” over the HU but Mary Sue did her best to run “interference” for the staff and was, from what I saw, always respectful, gracious and considerate towards them. She could be somewhat demanding occasionally but was not petty or spiteful.
El Ron was another story or, shall we say, The Story. It was gruesome to watch and see just how cruel and foul El Ron could be to not just only other human beings, but to folks that Hisself had such altitude and dominion over. Bluntly, I started having transient thoughts that if what I saw Hisself do and act towards others was “OT”, then just what is the “State” truly about or, more importantly, is “It” even actually for real.
Talk about “Case on Post”! El Ron would whine, berate, bellow at and flat out “invalidate” the very people that were working 80+ hours a week—for ten bucks pay—to wait on Hisself hand and foot. I’m sorry folks, that’s just the facts and I don’t care who says Hisself was “using the right tone level” or “correct amount of ‘intention’ or ‘force’”; I saw what Hisself did to these people, I looked into their beleaguered eyes and was a friend of some of them (as much as there could be the practice friendship in the realm of the MUD’s). If there is one thing that I feel “guilt” about regarding my Life and Times with El Ron, as a SO Senior Officer and a Scn it’s this; El Ron was always pleasant, polite and most cordial with me, never once got mad at me and gave me praise and “validation”, all the while treating disgustingly and cruelly they that deserved Hisself’s “Charms” far, far more than I.
Of all the HU folks, the story of Rick Sheehy weighs heaviest on my heart. For a number of years on the Apollo, and just after the move to land, Rick Sheehy held probably the most thankless, withering and perilous posts in the SO—the Post of Commodore’s Personal Steward. Rick was a fit, handsome, very intelligent, highly energetic young man and was as all around decent, humorous, straightforward and thoroughly pleasant a fellow as I have ever met. Rick had grown up on Chicago’s North Side and in demeanor was sort of a cross between mid-west wholesome and North Side Ivy League. If memory serves, Rick was either Cl IV or on the BC when he joined Flag Crew with the dream and goal of becoming a Cl XII but was snatched by El Ron for the HU.
Rick was everything you’d want in an Auditor and that fact was more than well proved by the way he day after day handled the years of mood swings, tantrums and brow beatings of “The Founder”…the guy had cool, guts, instincts and a calming presence. I could never do the job Rick did, for as long as he did it, and not many folks in all of Scn could have, either. In fairly regular diatribes, El Ron harangued various HU staff but Rick bore the brunt of it; “there’s soap residue in my socks; there’s soap film on my fork; there's too much gluten in my bread, whaddaya trying to do, make me sick and crash my stats; you’re trying to poison me; you’re assigned Confusion for not having my milk here on time (Crew rarely had fresh milk...El Ron and Family had all they wanted, when they wanted).” Alternatively, El Ron would move into one of his “chat and brag” and cajoling moods and, turning on the ‘Charm”, would prattle away in Hisself’s cabin telling Rick some of the stories that we now know are mostly a pack of lies. Over time Rick became very, very adept at “handling” El Ron.
For all Rick went through he remained devoted to El Ron and, even more so, to “The Tech”. When the Old Guard was being shunted away Rick, like Urq, was granted what he wanted most of all in the world; Rick was assigned to the FSO Tech Div and trained up to Cl XII. As all of us that have read the Lisa McPherson Story knows, Rick’s Story as a Cl XII did not have a happy ending…once again, Rick was, by de facto, El Ron’s Whipping Boy. Around 2 years ago I began reading the El Ron and Scn “stuff” on the Net and was appalled at what I read but, honestly, not all that surprised. I was appalled at what had happened to Ms. McPherson but not surprised that her Auditor took the fall. But, my heart is heavy that Rick Sheehy, of all people, would wind up in this circumstance; I’m not absolving Rick of what his responsibility factually and morally may be—I’m just so saddened to see such a fine, fine young man’s life’s commitment end up broken and destroyed by the “Organization” and “Tech”, “Gifted to all Mankind”, by the “man” he was so steadfastly of impeccable service to.
“Hate, The Key To The Padlock Of Fear”
As I have written on ESMB previously, I see fear as one of the primary drivers to El Ron’s true legacy. Borrowing and paraphrasing from posts I made a year ago on the Apollo Thread:
My premise is all that “edifice”—the Orgs’ Missions, Red “Tech”, Green “Tech”, etc—is the artifact construct of El Ron’s desperate solutions to a horrid continuing PTP; “How do I continue to keep extorting all the money and admiration I want for something I stole, plagiarized, made up and pretend to have discovered all by myself and continue to steal, lie about, plagiarize, make up and pretend to discover all by myself—and can't actually personally do—without being found out and "ruined" or going to jail?”
El Ron's HU is a microcosm of Hisself’s "legacy building".
The personnel of the HU were highly qualified, carefully selected, fervently dedicated and most, if not all, had “Tech” training. These were, for the most part, good intentioned, very bright to smart, highly dedicated and very sincere people that El Ron—deep down inside—distrusted, suspected of having “evil intentions” towards Hisself and feared. And so it was with all of Us, folks; Org Staff, Mission Staff, Flag Crew, Scn Celebs, Field Scns and—especially—the Mission Holders.
By the late '70's I think El Ron hated nearly all of Us.
