Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I love the lines on the hardtop Ghia. Given the same engine and suspension (which is easily achieved) I'd be hard pressed to choose between a 65 Porsche 356 or a 69 Ghia.

So you must be a spoiled brat, eh?

I mean the equation is easy: Buy a Karmann in whatever shape it is, buy an old VW, buy 3 m³ of sheet metal and get to work. Used Porsche replacement parts, no matter what shape they're in, will cost you at least 3 times as much. One doesn't have to be a math genius to figure that equation out. :coolwink:

The lines are gorgeous. Now why today the cars are so butt ugly I don't know.

Yes, but one still needs the hammer.

And I know I can't do it. Although willing to learn.

Oh yes, milk for me. Ex wifey used to drink hers with no milk or sugar. Yechkkk! And yes, I always start the day with a nice cup of java.

And on the car thing...

Dare I confess...

Ahh what the hell. I once owned a Caspian blue metallic Ford Capri 2 litre 'S' automatic. A beautiful looking car but under-powered, unstable and expensive to run. But it had the most comfortable driver's seat of any car I have ever driven long distances in. It was a toss-up between that and a VW golf. I chose the Capri. Doh!

I have to admit that if I could swing the new Ford mustang, and I suspect it is pricey, and if it was available in stick....I'd be a sucker. But I never rode in a capri so I don't know what I am missing.

Weren't most European Fords German made in those day? Mercury used to a sell a Capri over here that was made in Germany. You could get a 2 liter 4 or a 2.8 liter straight 6. My brother had the 6. It was a damn good car.

The Capri he's talking about was from the 70s. And I agree with the new Mustang. They have a 4 cylinder engine that has over 300 hp and gets close to 40 mpg. And it comes in a convertible with a manual transmission. Maybe 20K brand new give or take. Then there's the v8s. Easy 150 mph off the showroom floor and an 11 sec 1/4 mile. Pretty good.

I would take that convertible.

But I suspect there is a bat's chance in hell I will be able to.

However, it is a strong car.

A bangers and mash. LOLOLOL

How about an Ogden's Nut Gone...?

I gave up tobacco years ago. But Small Faces have there moments. As far as the ordering error goes: I think I hear yer guitar humming. You might want to ground that old Bassman you are playing through.

Can't be arsed to check on country of manufacture, but yes, if you were going to have a Ford Capri, the 2.8i was the business. A real collector's item these days. Actually, the photo of the Capri I have posted is actually a 2.8i I have realised after close inspection.

I don't know what any of this has got to do with 'The old days - Aboard the Apollo' but old Lakey's STATS are going through the f'ing roof lately.

They aren't all butt ugly, but the ones that aren't are pretty pricey

Even the pricey cars aren't necesarily attractive though. I saw one of these recently (the top of the range Lamborghini), and IMO it's more brutal looking than pretty;

And as for this car; it's probably lovely inside and great to drive, but what were they thinking when they designed the front of it?

Hey, we're just hangin' out. Let's grab a couple acoustics and play some tunes. I think there's a bass player in the house.:coolwink:

WHO on earth is making these ugly cars.

BEYOND my level [to obtain or understand] perhaps....

But you have to admit a lot of them are just ugly.

I was told by a man who owns parts of Florida that today ugly is pretty, at least in art.

I guess I don't buy it. But, I have to make a note that he drives OLD BEATERS.

LOL.

Hm.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I sort of found bangers and mash recently. A year ago actually. At costco. And I figured out how to make it researching online. And I love it.

So if anyone here has a specific family recipe, please share. I'm addicted now and would like to eat it a couple of times a month. The problem is that costco only sells bangers seasonally and I have to buy like 50 at a time and put them in the freezer. It's crazy. If I were not renting this place I'd buy one of those basement freezers and fill it with bangers. But unfortunately I am renting and moving a freezer every time I move is sort of impractical for a girl.

A weird desire.

Just in case - banger =sausage.

Get the best quality you can.

Usually sausage meat is made from the remnants of good meat.

Germany and poland may do better. You have local free range butchers
who make sausages?

Mash is mashed potatoes. A good gravy helps.

Most supermarket sausages are awful.

Perhaps a helpful URL.
