And that totalitarian government was to meet with the anti force, an anarchy..... repeating a reverse pendulum swing. This is a cycle which establishes a trend where one particular condition (of existence or entity) ruled by a mind, is 'in its turn' dominated by another ( probably pre-prescribed by a postulated script...as in the Hawking suggestion) ...trying to bring it back to balance. But, oh how long it would take for that pendulum to come to rest back in the middle.

Berlin, before the brown shirts got rid of the liberal commies and the intellectual salons. The film Cabaret would be reminscent of these times with the tongue-in- cheek political remarks delivered on stage.

Pretty Fascinating video Hats, most of this was pretty new to me.

I knew Berlin was an art center during the Weimar Republict, I knew about the movies being made, Marlene Dietrich, Peter Lorre, The Blue Angel Movie, etc., the Classical Music conductor, Wilhelm Furtwangler, all the famous authors who congregated there as well is Kurt Weil's Operetta "The 3 Penny Opera " staring his wife, Lotte Lenya and featuring the hit song later popularized by Bobby Daren in the USA, "Mack the Knife," I did not know about Berlin being the sexual capitol of Europe, nor being the center for left leaning Communists and Marxists. Thanks for completing that part of my education, Hats!!

There seems to be a small group here on ESMB who are drawn to all things German, prior to and including WWII. Anytime someone posts something about the Nazi's or the 3rd Reich, it seems to get a good response.

For my own part, I have tons of attention units stuck in Germany. What is a good English word for attentions units, can anybody suggest an English equivalent for that sci term?

Check out these dates:
1763 to 1827 - Franz Xaver Gerl - Austrian Basso singer and composer, married to Barbara Reisinger and close friend to the Mozart family.
1827 to 1860 - American male living on a ranch in New Mexico - shot dead by older Native American gentleman with a bow and arrow while stringing some fencing.
1860 to 1924 - German male, blond hair, came to France in 1864, lived there for years, spent last years in Portugal alone and died there in 1924
1925 to 1938 - Jewish boy, born in the Czech Sudatenland, killed by Nazi's while leaving Czech because Father insulted Hitler.
1939 to present - Male born to Jewish Family in L.A. known on ESMB as Lakey

Thus I did not live in Berlin in the 20's and completely missed the period depicted in the video which you showed. I think that before Gerl, I was German or Austrian, all the way back to Roman times. Even though those countries did not yet exist, all my lives were in that region, probably overlapping a bit into France and Spain as well with several lives in France and in Spain. I love Spanish culture, the language, the food, the dances, the guitar music, etc... Just can't get enough of it!

The Nazi influence is such a powerful magnet to so many of us that it is hard to explain. Continually on the History channel and other such networks, Nazi videos are presented over and over and some people, such as myself never get tired of watching them. Certainly, there is some connection between the Nazi's and the old Roman Empire. The word Ceasar was retauned as the word Kaiser in the German language. Both peoples had expertise in engineering as well as in building powerful armies. Even though ancient Rome is now Italy, it seems to be Germany who has the closer ties to the Roman Empire than the Italians do.

I am going to watch the video now. But see the part i left there above. I want to say, is it wrong, to say as I have been saying since day one, that mind as construed, is a lie. That by refusing to acknowledge a reactive mind or an unconscious mind that the very possibility of being "ruled by a mind" is refused?

Just thinking......

There is something masculine about the women in that video....

I did not relate to.... Grossed a bit. I don't go for Butch and I never cared for Marlene D. Style-wise I didn't see the attraction.

I did grab a screenshot for art purposes, some nudes of show girls. Had to crop it A LOT to like it....but I'd probably not be one of those girls in the film. Just have no interest in being that way. Too private I guess.

My daughter received good service the first 3 weeks but on week 4, she was taken out of the courseroom without my knowledge or permission to watch an S.O Recruitment film and then go see a recruiter. The ED of CCLA ordered all young students removed from course and to be driven about a mile to an S.O. berthing building. I was her parent was not even notified or asked for my approval. If asked I would have denied it. They bypassed me on my Father Hat when I was being what I thought was an exemplary Father. I was enraged demanded to speak to the ED, Dave Pettit and that rat assed bastard would not even agree to talk to me. That was my cue to get the hell out of CoS.

There is a personality type, common in Scientology, which only cares about what he wants to do. No opposition or objection is considered legitimate.

He cannot be argued with, because nothing about your desires or objectives is seen as important, relative to his desires.

He cannot be negotiated with, because he does not consider themselves bound to any agreement if at some point the agreement does not contribute to his objective.

He can only be avoided if possible.

I guess I have almost zero interest in Hitler and never think about him or in WWII. I admit it is interesting. I'm just not interested much.

The only thing in the video that interested me were the nude showgirls. Just as a painter, due to the line and the human forms. The rest was bleh. I'm pretty bland; perversions bore me. I read all of De Sade multiple times so this was just more of the same. The lesson in Sade is that it all ends in Apathy.

Then I must have been on the sixth or seventh floor. I think I would remember if it was the top floor...but maybe I am wrong.

I stayed on the 5th floor for a couple of weeks. It was very cold with littte warmth coming from those long white radiators. The ceiling seemed 11 ft high at the time. The tall windows let too much light in to sleep past 8:00 am. I was there twice. The second time my bedroom was a private space. The first time the beds were lined up in a row of 5 as in a barracks. We used a communal shower gotten to by elevator on another floor which had several spickets. The water did not get hot. I found the place enchanting though. I did not enjoy my stay. The company was rather serious back in 1982.

Riding the manor bus every day we would pass the grassy area where young SO mothers got one hour per day to be with their babies. I would just sob. One hour...for a 1 yr old.

Are you familiar with the Grand Tour of Europe? Berlin was one of those must see stops while exploring European countries. Music, art, philosophy, literature, history, culture and government were the prime focus, most especially when traveling through Italy. The Grand Tour is still alive today for those that can afford it. Many buy a one year European Hostel and Train pass, it's cheaper and a lot more fun.

I lived in Germany for two years while in the service as a recon scout at the then East/West Border (Meiningen Gap among other places). I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. The old castles, churches and museums, the language and customs, the history and traditions, the sense of community are palpable, alive. I was too busy to see everything I wanted to but imho immersing one's self in a different culture is an experience that will serve you well the rest of your life.

Today, the ravages of the Third Reich (and the Wall) are gone yet live in memory as a reminder and lesson to all.

I think I was there a bit later...and I had a room to myself with my son who was still less than 2 years old. I am like the princess and the pea, a bit of a primadonna, always was....so if I had been put in a barracks I would have flown home. No doubt they sussed that out! LOL. I don't remember communal showers...I think my room had one? Or else? Drawing a blank on that one. The windows were tall, the height of the wall....

I watched the Berlin part after I watched the Shanghai part. I think Spielberg used Kate Kapshaw to depict that era in an Indiana Jones film. I couldnt find the Paris part. I had just watched A Woman Of Paris directed by Charles Chaplin though. I am totally awestruck by this new awareness that one condition often triggers another. Like hitting 50 triggers menopause. Or hitting 13 triggers puberty. Or hitting a period of terrific austerity and megadeath triggers an unheard of liberalism. Many of these things are coded reactions placed on automatic a loooong time ago. They have become mistakenly related...so that if A happens then B is probably coming up around the bend pretty soon. I remember the automaticities taking over me that caused me to land in a baby body. It just took over and I swooned helpless to it.

I have always been interested in 'why' there is this feeling of being swept along as if caught up in a river's strong current. There was no way to escape playing in the inclined 'set ups' to come. It might have at one time been my own auto programming, but in this instance I wanted to decline the routine rigamarol....just once. I was not stronger than the animating script. The lines of the play had their own life...and a sort of strength....and I had not counted on that. It was a surprise and a mystery.

The tremendous amount of departed souls from WW I created a prelude to a sexual frenzy felt across the globe. The parties described in Berlin where couples made out for a public audience also happened in Shanghai and Paris. Total debauchery, as if the grim reaper was getting paid back in spades for his robbery of the lifeforce.

Good points all, Enthetan. I did pay a fee for my daughter to take a course. I drove 27 miles each way to bring her to course and waited 8 1/2 hours to drive her home from couse, You would think that an ED of Celebrity Centre would know his hat and know the Hubbard senior policy mantra, "We deliver what we Promise!" Enthetan, y ou state it accurately above, he wanted teenage S.O. recruits. I had the audacity to expect them to deliver what they promised. He told me to write up a Knowledge report and both me and my ex wife did that, including every detail and every policy which they violated. All we got back was a letter from Pettit's communicator, stating that he would look into the matter. Of course nothing was ever done.

There are consequences for such criminal behavior. At that time CoS had about 125.000 members and now they have only about 1/4 that amount. Me, my wife and my 2 kids never set foot in that Org again and stopped paying for services at all Orgs. They did us a favor, in particular, they did me the biggest favor. Prior to the incident my ex wife and 2 kids wanted to quit CoS but I refused to quit and wanted to give CoS one more chance. That last incident was enough to wake me up and I left for good. Not only that but I survived to tell my story on ESMB. With 2 million hits, who knows how many people have read my story, probably at least 10,000 or 20,000 over these last 5 1/2 years.

Everything you say in your post, Enthetan, is spot on truth but it is not me who ended up the big loser, Pettit, Celebrity Center and CofS all lost while I won. Getting free from all of their lies and deceit is one of the biggest wins any one individual can be given and all 4 of us in my family received that win, courtesy of Captain Dave Pettit. Than you very much Mr. Pettit for enabling me and my family to come to the realization that we wanted no part of you and no part of CoS.

Ditto on that Lakey. I have felt I'd had a past in the Habsburg era and it definitely felt as if influenced by the Caesars of old. I had the same feelin about living in the yrs around 850 A.D. when the Merovingians ruled what is now French and German territory They were what was left after the fall of Rome.

I think a lot of the symbols of empire came to us from Byzantium. It was the heartbeat at one time, when the empire struggled for cohesion under the Church established in Constantinople.

Be careful now...my cousin is a Hapsburg or what is left of them which is not much, today....maybe you are related to her some-when.

And now I am confused. Is it some other family name? Hm. The story goes that my family on the Cuervo side lost its lands but not the titles due to siding with ....[name?], and choosing that side to support in war due to family affiliations/loyalties. Well that did not go well. And they lost most of Gijon, Spain as a result. I thought it was Hapsburg but maybe I am confused and need to check a family book or two. I think that lands originally accrued when Pelayo, in 900 a.d., was able to fend off the Moors and as thanks was given the lands and title in that region. But my cousin is related somehow to the Austrians...

Hats, I have memories of being in France during the American Revolution....knowing Ben Franklin...Sometimes dream in French.

But I never ran any of it in a session....

Did you mention that you also had memories around that time?

Yes, I did. I was the daughter of an aristocrat, approximately 14 yrs old. There was a party at the house of the ambassadors. Ben, I believe, had a reputation with the ladies...er, uh...knew how to please. I think I jumped in the coach ( pretty fancy) just before his departing in the early evening. Pretty busy atmosophere just outside. No shame. These were slutty times. I mean, historically slutty.

Quotes by Marquis de Sade:

Happiness lies neither in vice nor in virtue; but in the manner we appreciate the one and the other, and the choice we make pursuant to our individual [STRIKE]organization[/STRIKE] orgasm.

There is no more lively sensation than that of pain; its impressions are certain and dependable, they never deceive as may those of the pleasure women perpetually feign and almost never experience.

Wolves which batten upon lambs, lambs consumed by wolves, the strong who immolate the weak, the weak victims of the strong: there you have Nature, there you have her intentions, there you have her scheme: a perpetual action and reaction, a host of vices, a host of virtues, in one word, a perfect equilibrium resulting from the equality of good and evil on earth

Lol. i made a Sadean reference the other day, unnoticed - the petit Maison. It had to do with hitler. The sadean does all manner of things far from view, in the petit maison. Far in the country where screams are not heard. Sort of like int base. Hitler on the other hand did lots of his murdering very publicly....? Is that true? Then there is Sade's theory of power.....very interesting. I read juliette as a highly political enlightenment book. an incisive explanation of power. I can say more later...that phrase opium of the people is Sade's and Marx did read him. 100 years before Marx writes it down Sade already did so in juliette.

Sade is about how far an impulse can be taken....and the manner of removing virtue and abandoning to nature....but also the relations of power, sex and money to seeing how far an impulse can go, and seeing how easily virtue can be used to ensnare the virtuous (Sade finds it funny.) Impulses are cast against virtue insofar as impulses are animal and virtues are abstractions for Sade. A recasting of the ideal v. material as values or truth, to show we are animals.

I was never a big reader, but I looked it up. Yelch.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely as does the opium of the peeps. I have a distaste for it. I have found this attitude hiding in my shadows. Yet, to have none, means you cannot fight 'back' ....which leaves you, in the end, in the OTHER guy's universe. Maybe this self-hatred and sado masochism is an attempt to swirl the guises so losing is winning and vice versa.

Power is an interesting subject. Today, all over the news, the tube, in the doctor's offices...the chant is GIVE ME MORE TESTOSTERONE. And the latest current drama is LET US SHOW YOU INFIDELS HOW POWERLESS YOU ARE. I think it all comes from having experienced iniquity and not being able to digest it. The POTUS is acting out as was Hitler, both bristling against a despairing history where they couldn't change who is winner. Power is a solution to not having any.. So is imposing one's Will on those who don't want it.

I did start on Moll Flanders last week. Robin Wright Penn was exceptional in the film. Published 1722.

Thankyou! And that seems to be the theme of the play that we now have upon the world stage. I have been ranting like a maniac for months about it. Animal behavior! Folkses ain't be car'in to bridle any of der hurtful impulses. The Golden Rule? Whazzat???? Oh, yeah....He who controls all da gold makes da rules! Daz it.
