Church of Marijuana granted tax exempt status. Now there's a strategy for ya .....

Indiana's Church Of Marijuana Granted Tax-Exempt Status From IRS

Indiana's First Church of Cannabis -- a religious sect that embraces marijuana use as a sacrament, newly formed under the state's controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act -- has just received the classification that so many religious organizations covet: tax-exemption status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code.

"We are pleased to inform you that upon review of your application for tax exempt status we have determined that you are exempt from Federal income tax," the IRS cover letter to the church, dated May 21, reads. "We determined that you are a public charity." A copy of the IRS letter was provided to The Huffington Post by Bill Levin, the church's founder.

The church's tax exemption status means it can take full advantage of the benefits of being considered a public charity by the federal government, including the deduction of financial contributions, limits on the IRS's ability to audit the church, and being qualified to receive tax-deductible gifts and more. It's also good news for the nearly $11,000 the church has raised through a crowdfunding account over the last several months.

Hats I had a delusional nun in 7th grade. She was still ranting about some boy in high school. She was in love. One day she stopped at my desk, looked at my handwriting, and said to me, "I will have to keep an eye on you." It was my penmanship. Quite indecipherable at that time because listening to the nun drone on and on made my hand very tired. Did you get the 'occasions of sin' speech? Almost anything at all is a sin she seemed to think! Looking at someone funny, wanting something, liking a boy. The key was to avoid bad thoughts. The thoughts were sins too! I think the worst thing about all that is the training to be constantly policing oneself and having zero trust in oneself. Talking to oneself. The worst thing in the world is to not even be able to think because even there, alone, one is under guard. How can anyone be creative if a mental alert intrudes to say, 'now now, that thought is not allowed.' I would just cover my ears and close my eyes. Daydream......

Good one Maria. Bad penmanship excuse #1. :hifive::lol:

I was lucky to have 2 nuns, one in the 4th and another in the 6th, who decided to leave and go back home and marry their old beau.

They do get stuck though. One kept telling the story of how her strict pa would 't allow her swimming in the hot summer. The other was all about missionary work in Venezuela. Not a plethora of vistas left in life after arriving at the convent of Our Lady Of Good Counsel.

I had a nun in 8th grade accuse me of being some sort of ringleader of the the ne'er do wells. My father smoked cigars in the car. So she accused me of smoking because that smell was on my clothes, from which it follows I had to be running a sort of clique. In third grade the nun really loved me and always invited me to the convent to make cookies. But I didn't have permission to do it, was skipping brownie meetings to account for that time. Got caught and ran away into the woods behind the school. I finally did turn myself in but the scandal got me dismissed from the brownies. Those were the days. The nun was a bit subversive and pulled me aside the next day to commiserate and to give me the cookies I missed.

Believe me, I had an excuse a minute. :)

My Dad went to Catholic school as a boy in the 1920s-1930s.

He told us stories of how the brothers would smash an iron ring full of the old type of iron keys over the back of his hand for writing with his left hand.

Or they would crack the yardstick on edge across his knuckles.

He learned how to write with both hands.

Had a South African co worker who told us that up until the 1980s and 1990s, writing left handed was still very much frowned upon there.

President Obama has a consistent track record in at least two major and critical areas. First, it is extremely obvious that he does not tell the truth to the American public. Of course, the classic example has to do with getting Obama Care passed by Congress. There are at least 40 recorded videos made over a period of several years where he declared in no uncertain terms that, "If you like your present health insurance, you can keep it and if you like your Doctor, you can keep your doctor." This mantra said over and over to the public for years was never true and President Obama knew it. That is just one example of dozens but that example alone is more than sufficient to show that his promises mean nothing.

As regards telling the truth, President Obama is quite similar to LRH and DM with their concept of creating an "acceptable truth". President Obama and the extremely far Left political movement share a particular characteristic with those in the upper echelons of Scientology. Both groups honestly believe that they are the only ones in possession of certain basic truths regarding life and the governing of life. They consider themselves the anointed ones, the only ones with the correct information Not only are they willing to lie to their publics to get their agendas enacted into law, THEY BELIEVE IT IS THEIR SACRED DUTY TO LIE. LRH believed that, DM believes it, President Obama believes it. They believe that their opposition's ideas have been proven false over and over and that it is their duty, by hook or by crook, to disenfranchise their opposition so that they can enact their noble programs. So in their minds, it is perfectly acceptable to tell lies to overcome their opposition and force their programs to replace the existing laws, particularly things such as the US Constitution.

This may seem an oversimplification, too simple to actually be true, but unfortunately it is the Gospel truth. The US public is being dumbed down in the schools of America and shortly after major lies are told to them, they tend to forget that they were lied to and quickly reset their minds to forget about the lies.

You combine the policy of believing that you have the sacred duty to spin lie after lie to the American public with the insanity of doing business with a country such as Iran who lives by that same code, the belief that only they and their Sharia law know best and you have an extremely toxic mix.

The leaders of Iran are a strange mix. On the one hand they do state their true goals over and over. Their main national goals are the near term goal of completely destroying the state Of Israel and wiping it off of the map with their longer term goal of converting the entire world to accept Islam and Sharia law. These two key goals, the boldly state over and over and over. Somehow, President Obama and his key juniors do not hear these goals or accept them as real. After Iran proudly states those two goals of theirs by telling the truth, then everything else they do is just based on lies. Of course they believe that only they have special knowledge and it is their right and their duty to lie whenever possible in order to get their programs enacted throughout the world.

Of the two groups of liars, The religious and political leaders of Iran are the professional liars while President Obama and his minions are Babes in the Woods when compared to them. For some very odd reason, the Obama administration feels that they can sit down with the government of Iran, have a cup of coffee with them and make some concessions to them to show that they are nice guys and are different from earlier generations of Americans. They blindly and naively believe that if they make enough concessions to the Iranian leaders, they can make a binding peace deal with them.

As naive and simplistic as all this sounds, that is the Obama administration at work! Israel cannot allow itself the luxury of going along with the Obama administration because of the well known fact that their first mistake will be their last. As shown in the video supplied by Hats, above, President Obama's feelings are hurt because it is being suggested that he is not pro Israel. Come one, give me a break! In actual fact, President Obama is gambling with the very existence of the state of Israel; their whole country, a tiny country the size of New Jersey, is at risk, one major mistake and they are finished and President Obama still conceives of himself as being their friend. They are worried about their very existence while he is worried about having his feelings hurt. Talking about ego, as we have recently, look at President Obama's ego, now there is an ego!! He is more worried about his public perception and his legacy than he is about carrying out the duties of his job. He promised under oath, his hand on a Bible, that he would uphold the US Constitution while all the while, he is actually trying to undo the U.S. Constitution. That was his first lie after being elected. He had no intention of ever keeping that promise and he has been lying ever since. Too simple to be true but oh so true!

I don't really care but the fact that he did not respond to my post was duly noted by me. I think several other people found that information useful. Taking the time to write that treatise was not egotistical, I was just trying to do a good job posting on this thread.

Lakey

Look, it seems you may have had your feathers ruffled a little & are pouting a bit - that's OK. It'll all settle down soon.

On the religion / race question I suspect is where you and I see postings from different perceptions & perspectives.

I asked a question that in my experience most non Jewish people are confused about & I ( apparently my mistake ) felt your answer was to the all readers of the thread not just 'me'. SO. I didn't ack your origination as I didn't get it was singularly addressed to me.
Plus, as I have said before : I do NOT ever read long winded posts by anybody. I just don't do that.

However, I didn't feel your answer was egotistical I felt it was sharing your specific knowledge on a topic.
I currently study the Mussar some but what little I know of Judaism has mostly come from old friends.

"...you guys are equating doing a good job as a thread O.P. with being egotistical " as to that, we'd probably get along a little better if you not try to decide what I thinking & then assert it back in a post as if it was something I had said.

And the "... duly noted by me... " Yes, as you have mentioned you still hold some grudge against some kid in grade school that hurt your feelings, etc, etc.

I do have to tell you that do try to not hold onto shit. I let it slide.

I do try to remember the time a friend & I swung through the tree tops of a stand of pine trees all the way across a tree farm.

I found it so much more better for me to remember & hold onto all the good, great, wonderful, fun exciting, soul satisfying things in life rather than the 'duly' note the shit.
That's just me.

BTW, when you didn't respond to my question of who is Catherine of Siena I didn't feel slighted. In the early 1200's she was Imploring the Pope to mount the Fifth Crusade to take back the Holy Land from the Muslims & remedy that indignity. ( Among other things she did that got Sainthood bestowed upon her ).

Nor when you didn't play with Ada Lovelace of circa 1830's vision that many feel has a bearing on our computer technology age. Wasn't slighted at all that you didn't ack or respond.

I know that among scientologists there is this thing about some complicated formulae about communication that has a absolute requirement that an "origination" be "acknowledged" & all that .

While I really do understand some people still subscribe - and hold onto - that belief I don't.

I feel no obligation to uphold beliefs that are not , well, exactly agreed upon by most of society at all.

OK for people to hold those beliefs & I also happen to believe it is also OK for me to not hold those beliefs.

I see a thread of a chat board as a very open forum where many people read - sometime long after a post is made. So, my personal feeling is my posts are not solely for one person & likewise any post another makes is not directed only to me.
Again, perhaps again my mistake, I take personal communication to PM's.

Please understand I'm not trying to assert any rightness/wrongness here but acknowledging that, to me, each of his has our own personal perception / perspective of things & that is our reality. Again, to me, having different realities seems is just what is called natural - for want of a better word.

You happen to see the role of "OP" as more than just the original poster or original post of a thread. That's fine. You see your role as greeter & what ever else you see your role as.
That's all fine. I'm sure you aren't really expecting the rest of the world to agree with what you feel.

I don't think I used the word egotistical describe being what you see your role as OP being.
Should you ever look at any other threads on ESMB - or, please out on chat boards on the 'net - you might perhaps see the role you have defined for yourself is some what unique.

Again, I'm not trying to point out any rightness / wrongness in this status of OP, just a difference - & a difference you are certainly entitled to !

So, my apologies for any unacknowledged by me posts that have been made.

And, my apologies for having fun pulling your chain a tad over the most seriously taken post of OP of the Apollo thread.

We ain't gonna kiss, but, maybe we can act like we can half assed make up ?

Meanwhile, I'll give this all some time to settle down as there fun things to go do & I don't even like my own long winded posts !

Now this respect for cannabis! Me thinks it's a clue to how Obama doesn't want to worry about maybe being criticized when ratted out for how he unwinds some evenings in the WH. Ya think?

On the cannabis issue, I have no proof whatsoever but would not be surprised that what you are suggesting is true. The reason I feel that way just comes from a gut feeling. As regards Frank Marshall Davis and his agenda, I have never heard of him or his agenda until now. I would not jump on that bandwagon without further evidence but if you turned out to be right, I would not be surprised.

We do have knowledge that for 20 years, President Obama attended the church presided over by Reverend Jeremiah Wright. I believe that President Obama was married by Reverend Wright, of course well before he became president and also that his wife an children were also members of Wright's congregation. Here is a video showing very clearly what Reverend Wright believes about the governments of White people plus the Japanese Government of WWII. In particular the USA is singled out far more than any other government for what many of us look at as our exceptionalism.

To me, any man who attended such a church regularly for 20 years and I believe was married there and sent his daughters there as well, should not have been elected as President. Obviously, there were no laws to stop him from running or from being elected but one would think that the voters would be smart enough not to elect him. This video was shown over and over during the 2008 election campaign and probably no more than 5% of the voters knew about it and many of them were not even influenced by it. What this showed me was that America was not racist, Americans were going out of their way to vote for a Black Candidate, despite such damning evidence that he was closely affiliated with Reverend Wright.

Do Americans get any sort of credit for voting twice to elect President Obama? No, not really, the country is now even more polarized than ever. More than ever, we are being labeled as an extremely racist nation. Anyway, I give you the Reverend Wright. one of President Obama's closest mentors for several decades:

But, no doubt there are more past things that didn't happen only because were always somebody else's fault that he has yet to post about here.

Look, you are more than welcome to post here and of course there is nothing I can do to prevent that, even if I wanted to which I don't All I ask is that if you say something negative about me, just give some back up info as to why you feel that way so that I have an idea what you are talking about and also, please remember that you said it. You and a couple of others were claiming that I am very ego driven and as a result I really took a hard look to see if there was any merit in your accusations. I could not find anything, searching my own past. If you have some specific instance, I would like to know it. Maybe I am being egotistical without even knowing that I am doing it. Tell me what I'm doing that you consider egotistical and more likely than not, I will quit doing it. Above, you said that I was egotistical yesterday and then denied it today. You are a smart fellow, I'm just asking you to take a little more responsibility for what you say and if you can give me more specifics on what I am doing that bothers you so much, I will make an effort to knock it off if I think your points are sound.

One thing, regarding my memory, I have a photographic memory of sorts going all the way back to 9 months of age. It is not perfect, like I can't tell you what I ate for breakfast on any given day but for me, it is like I went to grammar school maybe 5 or 6 months ago, junior high 4 or 5 months ago and high school 3 or 4 months ago. I remember all the kids , the teachers, their names, what we were studying, what games we played at recess, even on some days what lunch my Mom packed for me. 99% of this data has no bitterness attached to it. Any negatives, of which there once were few, eventually got addressed and are handled.

You offered a theory a month or two ago that I am operating in an anger band. I don't know how you came up with that. It sounded to me like you considered yourself an arm chair therapist, just having an inner ability to size a person up through his writing. I hope that you do have that gift. However, in my case, I do not consider that I am an angry person. If you can give me some specidifics which led you to that conclusion, I would be very interested in hearing them.

You have sort of offered me an olive branch or a pipe of peace to smoke with you. I don't think we will ever be close buddies but we can be civil to each other and so I accept your peace offering. To be honest with you, some of the material you write is interesting and entertaining and you have built up a following here on this threads and you bring people from other threads over here to this thread from time to time. In the spirit of smoking the pipe of peace, I recant on my childish song. "We hate to see you go but we hope to hell you never come back." That was a cheap shot, hitting below the belt, very childish and I apologize.

On the answer to what the Jews are, I did write that solely in response to your question but I doubted that you would read it so I designed it to appeal to the entire thread and not just you. On going on other parts of ESMB, from 2010 to 2012 I was on many threads and even recently, I have been on several other threads. Once in a while, I will find a poster whose writings I really admire, such as Maria or Leland. In that case, I will follow their posting for a couple of weeks to learn more about their beliefs.

I don't like the way people get bashed on so many of the other threads. I have been crucified as has CO2 as has Purple Haze as was Johnny the Magic Thetan. My thinking was, why should I and my best ESMB friends subject ourselves to continual bashing when we can engage in meaningful correspondence over here. Believe me, when a quality thread pops up, like some of Maria's threads a couple of months back, I immediately go over there and support those threads.

So, I hope this clears the air between us. I have covered all the points of conflict that I can think of and done so as thoroughly as I can without making my reply too long. My best to you on ESMB.
