I'm on my phone At my son's house. It's dark. My fingers are fat. So I'm sure it was just a mistake. Please excuse my old self. :)

Just as I suspected. You must be more in control of the MEST universe. Report to ethics immediately.:omg:

Well you practice a bit in third [3] and see how funner life is.

I get that you will downshift depending on the road and then back up again. When that is working may discuss fourth gear. Or not. lol. 3 may take years of practice to even touch.

Hah, I didn't make the connection to the Honda Motorcycle song! Fourth gear, Faster, Faster, Faster! BTW, have you noticed the new transmissions which the auto makers are coming out with? 6 speeds, 7 speeds, 8 speeds, 9th speeds. I believe that Mercedes and Chrysler are now putting 9 speed automatic transmissions in many of their vehicles. The main impetus behind that is to achieve better gas mileage when cruising on the highway. This is due to federal government mandates for higher and higher Corporate Automobile Fuel Economy (Cafe) mandates.
By 2025 each car company's average is supposed to be no less than 54.5 miles per gallon, about double the average at this time. Of course hybrids and plug in electric vehicles must be added to a companies fleet of cars and trucks to achieve this goal. Trucks are much bigger and heavier than cars and tend to pull down the CAFE for each company.

Well, with 9 speeds now on the market, there may be more paradigms for us to shift into...... Ninth gear, go light. Translation: Go light on using gasoline, going 60 mph in 9th gear your engine would be running not too much over what it runs when idling.

Re: Friday night is about to be lovely !

WoW!

I presume the after meal, late night, had been great too...
:giggle:

More like fantastic ! :love8: :love8: :love8: :love8:

Getting into loving some one that feels loved & feeling loved by that same one leads to a joyous life that can be expressed in ecstasy !

Sometimes it seems like to the degree one has allowed oneself to love themselves then allows how one can love another.

In any event, seems to me, love gets better mileage than any other fuel.

Love, Happiness, Kindness Blessed with Soft words to all !

PS - As a complete aside.... Being with a loved one & sharing a glass of wine in the sunset is pretty nice.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

When it come to multi speed transmissions, seems 9 speed might be about where it goes for street cars & trucks.

It was probably about '98 started with the 6 speed trend by Chrysler. Currently Chrysler rates up to about 7,200 pounds towing capacity - gets tricky as their hemi has a pretty wide torque band that adapts well to lower RPM operation,

( Current F1 race cars can go 17/18 speed automatic shifts to hold a very narrow HP/ torque band - who'd have ever thought of V8's turning 18,000 RPM ).

"No question, dropping RPM uses less fuel"*. The point of diminishing returns get tricky !
* [ correction :optimum RPM allows better fuel usage. My original statement was off]

Could it be variable speed transmissions are the wave of the future ?

I think it may be that auto makers get to combine mileage of all models to arrive at CAFE standards & that could lead to some interesting pricing ( benefit to the consumer ) to get the better gas mileage units sold in enough numbers to balance the lower gas mileage heavier luxury models.

Oh, did pick up trucks ever get to where they had to be certified to passenger car safety standards ? Anybody here know !

Forgiveness

Found somewhere else while looking for something else .......goes ( for me ) in the category of ' A WiseMan Once Said "

“ Forgiveness is so simple. It’s literally just a decision. No justification or cause has to happen forgiving does not have anything to do with the other person’s behavior, approving it, justifying it, rationalizing it, understanding it.

Forgiveness is a spiritual power in dropping the weight of negative emotion and energy around you. It’s time to just let go “.

What if the person needing forgiveness were like my cat? Knocks over a plant and makes a huge mess. Then goes off to bathe himself in the sun.

I tried to forgive him but by then he was taking a nap.

Sigh.

Charge - a different view of it.

The charged life . . . . .

“The charged life, then, usually calls to us after we have done what we were supposed to do, become who we thought we were supposed to be, lived as we thought we were supposed to live. Then the safety and comfort and compromise get to us, and a stirring of restlessness and revolution sends us off in search of greater adventures and meaning. From THE CHARGE”

― Brendon Burchard, The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive

and from the same book . . . . . . . .

“No matter your position, circumstances, or opportunities in life, you always have the freedom of mind to choose how you experience, interpret, and, ultimately, shape your world.”

And the last one for now . . . . .

“Well-being has been cast aside for wealth; success favored over sanity. In the process, some have turned cold toward life, and toward others.

Where is the energized, heightened, exhilarated pulse one would expect from such a chosen and capable people?

Why do we not hear more laughter and life? Where is the vibrant, mad fury and passion of the fully engaged human?

Where are the people burning with charisma and joy and magnetism? Where is the appreciation for life’s spark?

We must reexamine our attitude toward life. Our supreme duty must be to rekindle the magic of life. For this, we now declare: WE SHALL PRACTICE JOY AND GRATITUDE.”

For ancient Sumerians the word sham [later shem] denotes the [OT/Superhuman] wondrous.
Anciently, a superhuman action was shem - with root in the Sumerian sham. This sham has a deeper Sumerian origin - the "MU". The ancient definition of MU according to scholars is fiery star chamber. Such 'chamber', the MU or sham, were memorialized as stelae - objects of veneration associated with the MU; i.e., including obelisks, the fiery stars that fly and are bright and wondrous: the OT or the pig? I can't tell the dif!

And that, my friends, is your MU for the day.

What a sham[e] or should I say, sham!

Could one make a case for ancient Sumerians depicting ( what are more recently called ) UFO's & aliens ?

UFO's & alien beings seem so much more real to me than this these OT Superhumans.

Maybe there are these OT Superhumans & it is just that I haven't seen one. Doesn't mean they couldn't exist.

To limit the world to what * I * know would indeed make it a small place.

Can anybody help me find one of these OT Superhumans ?

<><><><><>

Oh, and yes some do debunk the Sumerian Texts that were written some 10,000 years before the Bible.

Some seem to have a problem with the Sumerians carving their texts into stone - and having everything that crops up in the Bible those 10,000 years later !

Somehow that has led some Devout Christians to discredit the Sumerian Texts. Go figure ?

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Just funny? Etymologically then MU = sham (in modern speak sham is a false thing hence MU = false understanding of a word, a sham meaning??)

But that is our modern definition of sham twisted together with the Scieno MU concept [maria having fun]. The ancient definition of sham is akin to an OT event.

So joining these modern and archaic meanings is funny.

OT = sham = MU.
MU = sham = OT.

I don't know too much about Sumerian things so cannot help,
plus not a follower of UFOs be they pigs, OTs or ETs.

No question, dropping RPM uses less fuel.

Wrong. Keeping the engine closer to it's optimal RPM range uses less fuel.

The point of diminishing returns get tricky !

<snip>

No. It's already here. The designers could already build CVTs (Continuously Variable Transmissions) into almost any vehicle they want to, but ATM, the technology is mostly used in small mopeds, because for heavier loads, that technology still needs to be refined some more. :)

Anyway: The Future. It's already here.

Mitsubishi had 8 speed trannys as far back as the early 80s. It was a 4 speed with an axle splitter, similar to the range button on a big truck.

Ah, ya caught me. I was trying ( as has been suggested to me before ) to be nicer to Lakey by acting like what he said was correct :)

Anyway....

I didn't want to get into lugging the engine or how closely spaced the top 2 gears can be.

And, yes, 2 speed differentials do make a difference. 4 speed transmission becomes 8 speed !

I remember right, in about 1957 Austin Healy put an electric overdrive switch in the 4 speed manual of their 3000 ( ? ) model which made for a somewhat effective 6 speed.

Shifting gears AND flipping the OD switch at the same time was tricky.

I thought a few years ago there was a car with a variable speed transmission - I rented one & didn't like it at all.
What WAS that thing ?

I think the first CVT tranny was on a tiny Subaru, I think. Might have been a Honda, but I think Subaru. was certainly some little asian shitbox. Too damn lazy to google it.:coolwink:
