Jerson? Is that what they call him? He's a fat pompous elitist pratt who aught to act his age but who's got his tongue too far up David Cameron's ass to notice.

His boring formulaic TV program sucked and I'm glad it's been taken off the air so my TV license money doesn't have to fund any more of his tiresome crap.

Re: Another - our experiences differed.

The GTO must have been a 64 or 65, no? I had a 67 with a 4 speed that was a lot of fun. White with a black vinyl top. You seem to be about 10 years older than me or so so I would have been drooling over your bitchin' rides in the early 60s

Good call ! It almost had to be a '64 .

To be a '65 it'd have to have been an early one as I moved out of the state where I bought it in late 65.

It was a lot of fun at the drag strip.

Cruising .... it wasn't real fun to drive with no PS, no PB, and NO AC ! But it looked so cool - LOL !

Ah to be that young & stupid again.
......

Cars I left out : Meyers Manx with 180 HP Corvair.

Damn, I'd buy one today if I could find one not all beat to death.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

All these "codes", I don't get it.

I think this " home run " is normal sexual intercourse between 2 consenting adults - is that right ?

But I'm baffled by the "bases" & never understood what they meant so I've only guessed all these years so maybe this is the right group to ask ?

"first base" = Long deep passionate French kissing ( better be mutual ! )
"second base" = petting sexual organs to climax ( mutual optional - a double ? )
"third base" = oral sex ( mutual optional - a triple ? )

Did I get it ?

This thread is getting good !

Close enough. God I loved back seat Suzies! (And they loved me back!)

It WAS formulaic, I admit and I eventually tired of the show. But if you think the Limey version was bad, you don't even want to cast an eye on the American version.:hysterical:

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Sorry but I had chaperones as a young woman so my idea of bases was quite different.

1st base was just holding hands and maybe a kiss (no French).
2nd might be a slightly accidental touch or brush against the wrong place.
3rd - what is that?

Actually the singer of this band is probably not as cute as Candy, but kind of reminds me of Candy in the videos.
A very sweet lady singing here (Leigh Nash.)

Here are two lovely little songs of hers.....the band is sixpence none the richer. Kiss me, the first song, is awfully nice.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

In the 50's and early 60's there was a huge cultural revolution over here, and grey, war-ravaged England began importing stuff from the USA like Rock 'n' Roll, Wimpy Bars and Sgt. Bilko (Coca-Cola had been with us since the turn of the century).

One thing that never took off though was drive-in movies. No doubt someone somewhere gave it a try but it never caught on. Maybe that's because there's far more room in a big old gas-guzzling yank-tank for getting yer end away, and although it is possible in a relatively small brit car of that era, (as the author can testify) it was decidedly uncomfortable!

I'd suspect land in the US plus the size of the cars.

It was very easy to sex in the back seat of most any US car.

Drive In was cheaper than a motel & so easy for a teenager to get in !

Fortunately, about the time I got married Drive Ins were phasing out.

No wonder I never went on a chaperoned date !

What is "the wrong place" ? A bare elbow ?

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

That girl (Leigh) makes me wonder what that hair cut (in the Kiss song) and color would look like, makes me tempted to try. I like the grunge outfits. As I said, I was a 18 year old. Nothing had happened to me. Scn hit me, took me for a few years. When I left there I had to start over. And in art school, this was the 90s, and all this alternative music and grunge. I never went with it 100% but I have to say I do like the look of her. But probably will keep the dark brown hair. And too chicken to cut it. Just always tend to want to go the long hair route. But it looks great on her. Very cute blonde sort of grungy cut with the black work shoes. LOL. I think I am very white like her but my hair is very curly so I probably could never wear her haircut without massive straightening.

LOL. I had chaperones from age 15-17 and then I left home to join CoS.
I think I had smoked pot 5 times and gotten high 2 of those.
My limit was one drink a weekend.

Anyway it is a very cute song.

I started dating at 14 - never had a chaperone.

But, I did date a girl that had a bodyguard that always had eyes on her & another girl that had 2 bodyguards.
That takes some getting used to !

I tend to always just love everything. Just smile at everything. And so I don't think what you describe is better or worse. It is experience. And that is such unexpected fun.

Chaperones eh?

Growing up we learned one thing. The 'slags' who wore a lot of make-up, smoked and swore and looked as though they might be worth pursuing were generally less forthcoming than the rather more demure, quieter, middle-class girls who were much more likely to reward you with their favours, and worst (best) of all were convent girls who had been chaperoned by nuns and were practically all nymphomaniacs to a [strike]man[/strike] woman.

BTW, I prefer the LA's 'There She Goes', but that's probably because I heard that version first.

I tend to guess that whatever length, style, & color of hair you decide on will be the perfect look for you !

I will have to listen to 'There she goes', again.

LOL on the convent girls. :coolwink:

Boys never have chaperones.

Silly, I meant I never went out on a date where a girl had a chaperone.

I do suspect some boys went on a date & brought their own chaperone.

Bet they stayed on the bench & never got to bat !

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I like the ephemeral quality of this love on this song....A sort of weekend thing...
"It's Friday, I'm in Love."

LOL

I promise I will not start to DJ / bomb again. This is it.
It was a song from when I was in art school....

Just noticed the strait jacket in the song video. I guess these boys are from West Sussex.
