1,1 to 2.0 is not socially acceptable.
You must raise over 2.0 to deserve social interaction with more ethical people.

I think that Hubbard said to approach someone at 1/2 a tone higher than where the person was at. What can I say, this has worked for me all my life with most people. When I first came on ESMB 6 years ago, I would come out and say this works and that works and this didn't work. It was no problem. Now, it is difficult to say that anything worked. People just won't stand still for that. Not just bad people but some top people do not like that.

If you go in 1/2 tone higher, you are real to a person. If you go in 3 tones higher, you overwhelm them. Probably this data is known outside of CoS. It is not rocket science, it is common sense.


I agree, some people deserve to be ignored and left aside (if not destroyed like in the cult) The fair game policy is fair when apply to to low tone people who botter us!

FBM seems like a man with a covert mission. It is hard to figure out what he is up to and figure out what positions he is in favor of. I've tried to be fair and friendly but that has never worked. Either he is neutral or he attacks. There is no common ground, nothing we can agree on. I am thinking, why does this person come here every day to read something he doesn't like. I have no answer for that question. All I can do is assume that he has an agenda which he does not want known. Still he has a write to post here.

My policy is that if a person's reasons for posting are not clear and if they never give compliments to anyone, then just leave them alone unless they attack you. If they attack, then try and clean it up with them. If that is not possible then just put them on IGNORE.

Legitimate reasons for posting may be many things. Telling you own story in CoS, reading the stories of others, sharing experience, getting a chance to express yourself to the public, have some fun, promote a cause, hone you debating skills, make new friends. Those are some of the valid reasons for posting. There are other valid reasons. Invalid reasons exist too but they are often difficult to spot and then once spotted, they are difficult to diagnose.

A good debate can be stimulating and fun, you might learn something but debating someone who is here. for some agenda just saps your energy, you may even have physical reactions, sleep disorders, stomach disorders, headaches, etc.. The keys to spotting such people:

#1 - They never change, they never compliment you or agree with anything you say. As you say, Lotus, they are under 2.0.
#3 - They always criticize but they do not offer any constructive changes. They never come out and state a specific set of goals which they are promoting.
#3 - They use straw men to deflect your questions. No direct question is ever answered; your question is deflected to a non existant straw man and then they answer by attacking you.
#4 - You have no idea what this person's purpose is on this board or on the thread where they are attacking you.

Once, you find all four of these points active on a particular person, the best policy is to disconnect from them.

I don't know, I'm just guessing. I try hard to be fair and he never compliments me. Either he is neutral or he bashes, never any compliment or kindness. Here is my thought if I may,

It's obvious FBM is on a mission..it's a mission to speak out about $cientology! But this being is basically good and he likes to chat with people too! : He is a social gregarious being too
I am certain he like hugs though!

We are all on a mission on a mesage board - may be to speak, to entertain, to get attention, to make friends, to learn, to share or whatever!

Some people dont compliment others..as to some people love and kindness is not about compliments, Sometimes love may be gentle sometimes it may take another color and nuance.

Each time he challenge your patience and you can tolerate him...say thanks as he has help you to grow patience and tolerance. The same with me, it takes such amount of patience to tolerate me. Some people are like little mosquitos, some are like a soft gentle breeze, some others are like bazookas...

I think patience is the new universal solvent

Once you get an expert in practicing with FBM, then you can ''confront'' a real tough one with perfect TRs

This thread reminds me of how I used to feel when I found myself in an org.

Many of the original regulars here have quietly disappeared under the radar but some left with a bang and declared they will never again return (and as far as I know they haven't).

Occasionally a few new, cool people drop in and chat but they never stay too long and even some of the "proper" exes wander through now and again but (when it all gets too much) could turn and decide to lob a few bricks and yell obscenities (for a larf) before falling into raucous heaps of laughter ... because they can.

Even one of the original creators of the thread (the naughty one) has tried his best to get out the door but apparently gets dragged back ... as you do.

Meanwhile the thread sits here ... a bit tired, tatty around the edges and somewhat desperate for attention with a few of the "old guard" still pottering around (counting things) in a state of delusion about what it all means, occasionally getting into a strop and insisting the heathens find their demo kits and dictionary's and get back with the program ... or bugger off.

Many people apparently glance through the door now and then but never ever post ... hence the "stats".



It truly reminds me (a little bit) of how I used to feel when I paid my rare but obligatory visits to an org, wary ... very careful ... constantly aware that I was surrounded by [STRIKE]nutters[/STRIKE] well meaning people and I could never wait to get out, get home and take a loooooong shower.

I'll try and put myself on ignore now.

No, no, don't be ashamed! I mean that in the BESTEST way. All non-native speakers fracture English differently. I can often tell where someone is from just by the way they misuse English innocently. I've told you before, you aren't hard to understand, you just make funny mistakes that are unusual for French speakers, whether actual French or Quebecois. The cadence I imagine when I read it to myself is kind of like Catherine Deneuve but not as fluent in English as she is. C'est bon.

1) I fracture my writing on purpose to make it shorter
2) because of a brain injury long ago, I've lost part of my english grammar and upon close watch you'll see I have a problem in using adverbs. Otherwise, prior to my neurological incident, I was fluent in english; for example, I was used for translation purposes at flag.

I encounter the same problems with my french in structuring sentences and be concise in expressing ideas. But I've fully recovered in my native language. Then I've learned spanish. But now it's almost gone for not practicing.:confused2:

I would think hearing you speak the way you write when you are being sarcastic would leave an audience rolling in the aisles. I didn't know about the brain trauma though. I'm glad you are recovering more. Just keep being yourself. I like you the way you are

Nice piece of writing Lotus, I like many of your points. One thing I don't totally agree on is your use of the word mission. It's true that if a person is lonely and wants to make friends on the Apollo thread you could say that his is on a mission to make friends. If we use this definition for what a mission is then I would agree entirely with your post.

However, I had a stronger version of the word mission in mind. Making friends or improving one's debating skills can be called missions but that is a bit of a stretch even though the word mission can be used in that way. To me, if a person's mission was really to make new friends or meet women or learn things or improve their debating skills, they would have no problem telling that to people. If you ask them why are you on ESMB, they will tell you.

The type of mission I am speaking about is a covert mission where the person is here for some reason that he does not want known. I am sorry, I should have said covert mission not just mission. It's not too late and I will go back and fix that. You are right and I was wrong by not saying covert mission.

Now a covert mission is usually espionage where the person is sent here by some employer or a military or governmental agency. To be effective, they have to conceal why they are here from all the people in the area they are working in..

If covert mission is used instead of just mission then part of your conclusions do not work for me. I don't want to be patient with a military or paramilitary or espionage motivated individual who continually insults me. That is the man's job, to harass and weaken groups who his employer is against. I certainly am not saying that FMB is in that category. He may be or he may not be. I really don't know but he manifests all 4 of the traits which I wrote in my last post to you plus for no reason he was extremely insulting to me and my friends who post here so I choose to play things on the safe side and just cut off my communication with him.

Why show patience with a person working for a group who is dedicated to bring you down. I feel that being patient with that type of person is "stupid" and as I say in my last post, these types of people know that people such as my friends and myself tend to be easy going, trusting and softhearted. They know that and they think that is a major flaw in our make up and that soft heartedness is their entry point to take us down. As a result I will not be patient or tolerant with such people!!

If the world was rosy and happy go lucky and honest, I would have unlimited patience with all my potential enemies but this world is not that way and I am not extending my patience to everybody, only to those who I feel deserve it!

Someone PMed me that you very recently had a death in your family, Had I known that, I would not written anything of a negative nature, I assure you. You have been a good poster on ESMB at the time you posted here about 3 years ago and you have found many friends on other threads on the board. He either needs to retrain his tone scale drill or if not that, he may be using the drill correctly and it is the drill itself which is flawed. Take your pick, either way something is wrong!
There is just so much gobbledegook one should listen to and reply in a courteous manner. You either go to battle or put the guy on IGNORE. The trouble with going to battle is that it turns positive energy into bad energy and just saps and honest person's energy. CoS has no problem declaring someone unfit to talk to. why can't we afford ourselves the same luxury/

Here's where I think it's really at. The psycho's, extremists and bad hats know that decent and honest people tend to give others the benefit of the doubt. They know that we are soft hearted and are relying on this when attempting to take down a person or a thread. What we have to do in such a case is to go against our natural inclination of being kind and giving the benefit of the doubt. We either fight or we disconnect. Fighting saps our energy and turns positive energy to negative energy. The day comes when disconnection is necessary and on ESMB disconnection is easy, you just put the guy you want to disconnect from on IGNORE!

Such people, I don't know if FBM is one or not but I am going to err on the safe side, and take no chances with him and thus I will not be showing him any patience. In the 50's and early 60's there was a huge cultural revolution over here, and grey, war-ravaged England began importing stuff from the USA like Rock 'n' Roll, Wimpy Bars and Sgt. Bilko (Coca-Cola had been with us since the turn of the century).

One thing that never took off though was drive-in movies. No doubt someone somewhere gave it a try but it never caught on. Maybe that's because there's far more room in a big old gas-guzzling yank-tank for getting yer end away, and although it is possible in a relatively small brit car of that era, (as the author can testify) it was decidedly uncomfortable!

Drive-in-cinemas? I know at least one must have existed in Germany, but when I got to know of it, that facility had already changed and became a field for some well worth-to-remember rock festivals. The big movie screen was still there and was the background for stage number 1. I can't remember to have seen any other buildings there, but you know how it goes, right? "If you can remember to have been there, you weren't really there."

I remember to have been to at least 4 of these festivals, but can I remember the name of that town? No chance!

Sorry but I had chaperones as a young woman so my idea of bases was quite different.

1st base was just holding hands and maybe a kiss (no French).
2nd might be a slightly accidental touch or brush against the wrong place.

Actually the singer of this band is probably not as cute as Candy, but kind of reminds me of Candy in the videos.
