thank you for visiting the CarmeloOrchards, I've had too many beers blog for tonight.:)

Perhaps so.

Good writing, nevertheless, on this and other threads.

You are becoming the "It Girl" on ESMB. Have a few more beers from time to time, then let 'er rip! Very enjoyable reading. :coolwink:

I wasn't there at the time.

Ok Lakey,

The week end is over. We are having a surprise quiz on Nancy Many's book. let's hope you did your homework.

First question: When Chris and Nancy were busted at CC, who was busted with them?

This is not an open book quiz.

My knowledge as an insider ended in early December of '73 when I left the Apollo. I continued on CCLA lines throughout '74 by taking courses and volunteering on the weekends in Treasury to pay off my Freeloader debt. In 1974 I was pals with another CCLA staff member who was on leave, John Michael Ketterer, I talked a lot with "Cash" Coonrad who was my successor in CCLA Treasury, I drove up to Sacramento to visit a non Scientology friend and while there checked out the local Mission and encountered Alan Walters, whom I had known a little at CCLA in 1973, when he was attending Opininion Leader meetings which Yvonne was putting on. I dated a lovely girl who used to be Sea Org at CCLA, Maureen O' Shaugnessy, and I met Ricks Knutson, a concert pianist who knew Heber Jentzsch well from their Brigham Young University days in Utah and I started driving up to Santa Barbara to stay over at his house and attend various concerts he put on.

Also, in 1975 I went to Denver to visit my brother who had joined staff at the Denver Org and became friendly with the head of the Org there, Mike Goldstein and his wife, Rebecca, the former Rebecca Jessup. Only talking with Mike and Rebecca did I hear any new info about what was going on in Scientology.

I HAVEN'T THE SLIGHTEST IDEA WHO BUSTED THE MANYS. The last I knew, Chris had been married to Audrey, then broke up with her and married Ronnie Johnson, Irene Howey's sister, and had divorced her because I knew she was now Ronnie Mac Donald, Randy's wife. The last I knew of Chris Many, he was single. When he and Nancy hooked up I was just public at ASHO and was no longer an insider and had no channel through which to obtain the latest "skinny".

Extra points if you can name her last name.

Extra extra points if you can name her former boyfriend, who was famous as the hot tempered Class Xll on board the Apollo, who punched people out before DM popularized it.

I HAVEN'T A CLUE! The only Class XII's I knew of were Ron Shaffran, whose girlfriend was a beautiful girl named Linda Power and Ron was peaceful and would have never punched anyone that I knew of. The Only Class XII who did any punching that I ever have heard of is Otto Roos. From what I knew, he was very active on his 2D on the Apollo had many girl friends but I don't know who they were.

Just a wild guess of the last name would be that it was Hubbard and the person who busted the Many's would then have had to be Diana. John Horwhich, to whom she was married, was never a Class XII, but I think they had broken up by then. I have no idea of any other Class XII who punched people, other than Roos. Of course, there was LRH himself, who punched Roos, and he was Class XII in a way. LRH was every post he ever originated, I guess, but he never used the titles, only the title Commodore, and then Admiral for the last day or two of his life. An Admiral with no Navy.

Hey, THAT WOULD BE A GREAT TITLE FOR A MOVIE ABOUT LRH'S LIFE, "AN ADMIRAL WITH NO NAVY" Maybe Jack Nicholson could play LRH and Meryl Streep could play Mary Sue, Johnny Depp could play Roos and Tom Cruise could play DM, Jason Beigh could have a brief cameo role as Nibs. As for Travolta and Kelly Preston, maybe they could play the Many's. There would have to be a role for Kirstie Alley, maybe she could play Yvonne and GIovani Ribisi could play Quentin.

Carmelo, you know that I have the type of mind that records everything that goes on around me. You yourself have quite a bit of this characteristic. If I was not there, I take a stab at deducing what may have happened, but as to who busted the Many's, what her last name was and who the Class XII was who she was married to and who was known for punching people before DM made it fashionable, Buzzzzzz, my time is up and I just plain have no idea. I give up.

Org vs. Mission Mind Sets

Carmelo - Your posting - "Org vs. Mission Mind Sets" is one of the most incredible posts I have ever read. Prior to reading your stuff, I always thought of the Missions as minor, incidental players in the Scientology game, sort of like lite beer, you guys were Scientology Lite. How wrong I was! It seems like it was just the opposite. The real truth seekers and insiders were in the Missions and the Sea Org was filled with robots and "Yes Men" and women.

YOU GUYS, WERE SORT OF LIKE A HIDDEN DATA LINE, A SEPARATE ENCLAVE WITHIN THE CHURCH THAT KNEW THE TRUTH AND COULD ACT RATIONALLY WHILE CLASS V ORG STAFF WERE MORE ABERRATED AND LESS IN THE KNOW THAN YOU GUYS AND THE SEA ORG MEMBERS WERE TOTALLY DELUDED AND SHUT OFF FROM REALITY, THE LEAST RATIONAL OF THEM ALL. It was a reverse ordered heirarchy where the closer to Source you were the more insane you were and THE LESS IN THE KNOW while just the opposite was believed by all but the mission people.

What happened to Rocky Stump is absolutely unbelievable. Do you know more of the particulars? Were trumped up charges made against Rocky and Comm Ev particulars published listing his crimes or was he quietly gotten rid of with no fanfare? At least Rocky got to keep the Jaguar E Type, or did LRH confiscate that as well? Also, Rocky was able to find the truth out about LRH without having to go through years of research on the internet (which did not then exist).

MY OWN SCENE - As I learn more about the inner workings of LRH and Scientology, I stand far back, emotionally detached, from my own brief speck of time in which I felt LRH's wrath and evil. I was a guy, sort of a nobody, but I had a good aerospace job and was altruistic and was willing to give my entire life to LRH, whom I perceived was here to save Mankind and the Universe. I was producing for CCLA, really making a difference there.

Carmelo, is it possible he ordered me to Flag just to destroy me and kick me out of Scientology? Look at the chain of events.

1. I was personally posted by LRH to be on the phone all day, talking in Portugese when I knew not one word of the language.
2. I was then reposted by LRH the next day to be CCLA Programs Chief and do evals though I had not done the Evaluators' Course.
3. Neither post had a Hat Write Up. The intro to the post was one word, "Start!"

After 3 weeks, I was busted because City of L.A. Inspectors unexpectedly viewed the CCLA building and cited it for illegal wiring, improper usage of the building and fire code regulations. I was busted for this preexisting condition caused by CCLA and Flag management.

I am thinking that my PC folders were culled and due to my background of working in aerospace and having a "Secrete" Clearance from the US government and because I had read a fair amount of books and had done no drugs, LRH might have figured I was a government plant and just wanted all such people offloaded. I was allowed to be used in a Class IV Org in a lower level department where I added stability to the Org and where they got over 90% of my money. Then, when my money was gone, I was ordered to Flag and was earmarked to be busted, degraded and offloaded from the very first day. From the beginning, everyone that I worked under had a hateful attitude for me and treated me like scum and I was quickly off loaded, I never understood the hate. It was if they had all been briefed that I was a scum bag or a government plant and I was there only to be tortured and quickly kicked out. The few who were friendly were just some rank and file people on the EPF, or people such as Al Boughton, Hank Billings and P.J. Sieverson, whom I already knew from when I was public.

Do you think, I was just brought to Flag to be offloaded because they thought I was a government spy? Was there a periodic round up of all possible spies who were then handled similarly?

I see that we go to the same church.

Have you ever been a member of Reverend Buffett's parish? We had a lovely time a couple of years ago at the Orlando cathedral. I particularly was impressed by the alter of the ten foot high margarita mixer filled and emptied as we feasted the holy communion of margaritas and shrimp.

Perhaps you're more the life of elegance such as The Grand Floridian. I like taking the monorail.

before we leave places to visit in LA

When we were discussing LA's landmarks, we completely left out the Magic Castle.
You have to know a magician or stay at the Magic Castle Hotel next door in order to get in.

we've gone together or with all our kids, and never had anything but a great time.

We were hanging ornaments on the tree this morning, when we put on a rabbit popping out of a top hat. We got that when one of the kids was learning magic.

That reminded me of the Magic Castle.

The Magic Castle is on Franklin between La Brea and Highland.

It is a huge castle like building where magicians perform for their peers and lucky public. The food is always high caliber. It is far better than a cruise ship for instance.

If you live in LA or nearby, find a way to go.

Enthetan - Thanks for responding to my question. It more and more looks like a set up to get rid of a certain type of guy who could be a trouble maker.

Carmelo: I went to the Magic Castle in the mid 80's, a non Scientology friend from high school who I still know, rented out the facility for his Son's Bar Mitzvah. It was fantastic as you say it was. Great food, great castle like ambiance and many magicians came to our table and did card tricks and it was a night to remember. The place feels magic, just to be in it.

oy Vey!

I had no idea that I would be writing "Tales From the Hidden Data Line"

We, in the centers and missions, were more grounded in reality, as known by our friends and neighbors in suburbia. We weren't living in low havingness , poverty, and overflowing bodies in cramped living arrangements. We played tennis, went to Tahoe to gamble, took sail boats out of Long Beach, just like real people.

On the other hand, we had the best of the tech. The Class Vllls in the centers (I was before missions) had left the orgs for the money or had never been org staff. we were all quite committed to higher consciousness, more ARC, better havingness, saner games - you name it. it was common knowledge that the closer you were to Ron, the closer to heinous abuse you were.

Your former auditor, who prefers to fly under the radar, went to Flag, did a perfect session on video, had LRH commend him / her to Yvonne, and came back to california as fast as possible. The necessity level rising because of the possibility of being stuck and abused at Flag was not lost on anyone I knew. Get in , get out. don't fuck up.

Charlie Rush, on the other side of the "street smarts" scale was at Flag. Captain Queeg, AKA "the commodore" - (not related to Lionel Ritchie and the Commodores or Commodore Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen) was the perfect abuser. Charlie was the drummer on the Apollo all Stars. Everybody loves Charlie. Everybody has always loved Charlie. he is like a dog (this is not mean, I _love_ my dog(s)) Charlie is / has always been eager to please, friendly, loving, kind, hard worker. He makes you feel good, just to be in his presence.

he worked up close and personal with the "man"

That !@#$% scumbag asshole fucker has a group of SO members on Flag, standing at attention for hours in the hot sun. Charlie passes out. What kind of a moron stays with an abuser like Hubbard? a loyal dog. let me be perfectly clear here. I would never ever treat a dog, especially my dog, the way Hubbard treated staff. He did this to the puppies too.

Valerie Schomer was a five year old cutie back in the early 70s. she used to bounce on my knee. Homer, her father, joined the SO, and took her with him. She was a Commodore's Messenger. One night at 2 AM, LRH found her asleep outside his quarters. She was put in the chain locker for several days. She is still in the SO in LA at CLO forty years later.

On the other hand, Martin Samuels had the Davis Mission group and the Delphi school in Sheridan, OR. It was all stolen. He is now developing properties in Oakland, CA. He was broken, but landed on his feet.

Sea Org members are just broken. It kills me.

Lakey, I never looked at that, but you certainly are right about that. Further proof that LRH was suppressive when out-of-valence. :omg:

My personal experience on staff is that it could be a political snake pit, with various factions trying to get rid of people for various reasons. Sometimes it was hard to get things done while at the same time watching your back. The stories written about how DM managed to grab power from MSH and later the Broekers are good examples.

You got out alive, which is more than some did. Take a win on that part.

I'd say that your estimation of the situation looks true. I'm surprised that you
stuck it out after LRH did his hit on you. Not sure if that is good or bad. :whistling:

Its almost all bad! I was blind and stupid. My parents and all sorts of people were telling me to get out and I would not listen. I feel that I got some benefit out of the training and processing I got after that. Power and Power Plus gave a rush and a high, gut they were just key outs. After a while, that wore off. Clear was okay but I still had most of my old aberations so I thought there was something wrong with me and everybody else had made Clear but me. I got some benefits from the Old OT levels, 4 to 7 and definitely handled some things on NOTS. I really did not make any lifelong friends from the many years I stayed involved. Most of the case gain and friendships that counted came in my begining years. The biggest downside is that all of my retirement money was spent on the Bridge and I now have to still keep working.

It seems real enough. Something was going on, it was like a snake pit there, a snake pit full of shit. Many veterans literally sneered at me if they passed me in the halls. There is no possible explanation other than that I was 3rd partied before I arrived.

I remembered getting a Knowledge Report on me from one of the veterans, Annie Tasker. She went mulling around in my waste basket and found some telexes and stuff that were supposed to be run through the shredder. I just tossed them in the waste basket instead. It was a policy break but there was no vital data whatsoever on the papers. I deserved the chit but after stating the time, place, form and event, she added, "This guy is trouble, he is very dangerous and a psycho and needs to be offloaded immediately." How would you like to find that in your in basket when you got to work and know that everyone else in the office had received a copy?
I was probably scheduled for off loading shortly thereafter. However, the practice was probably to wait for the next big flap to develop before throwing the guy out. This way, the psycho could serve some useful purpose in having his head "put on a pike" and paraded around as the "why" for everything that was going wrong.

this sounds so much like a listing question.

I don't want to give you a wrong item. Even if what I replied was true for me, it just isn't valid if it isn't true for you. A wrong item sticks you/

there were no periodic round ups of possible spies.

In regard to security clearances, there were loads of people who had very high level security clearances.

Phil Spickler, who had a number of centers over the years, also was a civil engineer. he helped build one of the Washington , D.C. airports, some missile silos, etc. Most recently, he was working on the Stanford U football stadium.

Hap Hazard worked for NASA, was pictured on the cover of Life Magazine in a space suit. He surely had high level security clearances.

Hal Puthoff was the link between the Soviet Union and The USA on small particle physics. He also ran the SRI (Stanford Research Institute) program on remote viewing.

they generally weren't employed by orgs though.

Phil worked at ASHO and AO as an auditor and C/S, and he worked originally at FCDC back when the red headed dude was there. He fired MSH once, that got him on Ron's bad side for awhile.

My guess is you were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and you were convenient to blame.

A lot of things were just a matter of luck, good or bad.

Your "enemy" Don Keeler was the guy who passed David Miscaivage as being fit for the SO. He's probably kicked himself once or twice for that one. It's the luck of the draw. There isn't necessarily rhyme or reason.

Ask Ted about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't think he's ever put his story in print.

a difference between a center and an org

ORG:

Elvis was interested in Scientology. Bob Harvey pushed him too hard for money. Elvis stopped his interest because of the money hungry aspect.

Elvis died.

CENTER:

John Brodie, quarterback for the 49ers in 1970, was going to hang up his cleats. He had a bad shoulder. Phil Spickler gave him auditing - (book one) and creative processing until John's shoulder felt OK.

There had been no agreement on cost.It had been NSA (No Strings Attached) Phil took no money, until JB forced it on him.

John went on to get maybe 50% of the Niners in auditing, all of his family. Phil was the religious go to guy with the Niners.

instead of retiring, John was voted Most Valuable Player in the NFL that year. He was given an AMC muscle car. Charlie Rush owned it when he was new to the Sea Org.

You ARE the go to girl for the inside scoop. In your post before the quoted one here, I think you are probably right that I was not targeted to be off loaded just to put a head on a pike. Wrong place at the wrong time? Maybe...although I am pretty sure somebody was 3rd partying all along, probably a CCLA staff member who did not like me and had some connections on Flag, perhaps Chris Rutkowski, the FBO.

Wow, Don Keeler was the one who approved DM as fit for the Sea Org. To me Keeler is an SP and probably is very pleased with his passing DM all those years ago. If an auditor trainee was kind hearted or modest and caring as I tend to be, Keeler looked at that as a real out point. He wanted total certainty, A to B, no Q and A and no extra cycles or any form of being reasonable. Probably, LRH was looking for those traits as well.

I'll give you an example where I, a lowly Dianetic auditor out C/Sed the mighty Class 8, Don Keeler. I was assigned to audit an 8 year named John John Stone. Things went okay and he F/Ned and had VGI's and I took him to the Examiner but he did not F/N there. Keeler could not give me a Very Well Done, which hurt his stat so he gave me a mild cramming order which made sense and I happily complied. This happened about 3 more times. Keeler did not come down hard on me but finally, he was ready to call it quits and have me take another PC if it happened again. He wanted me to get a check out on my TR's in the Academy which again was wise and I cooperated fully. Suddenly, I had a flash of insight and I thought I might know what the problem was. I took Jon Jon in but before we started, I asked him if he knew who that man, Bob Riggs, was who we went to see after each session. He said that he did not know and he was afraid of that man and did not like him. I asked why, and he said he thought the man was from his school and was checking up to see if he had done his schoolwork . I got out the Scn dictionary and had him look up the word Examiner and demo it. I then went over and introduced him to Riggs and they chatted and made friends. Jon Jon came out beaming and then we started the session. Needless to say that at the Examiner Jon Jon was F/N and VGI's. I was proud that I had diagnosed the problem but soft pedaled it so as not to alienate Keeler. Keeler gave me a Very Well Done. Keeler wrote back a note saying that I made a good move and I was lucky that an unusual solution worked this time but it was better to just use standard tech.

On the Elvis thing, you just answered a 38 year old question I could never get answered. Bob Harvey came out in early 1971 to ASHO and was assigned to install an ESTO (Establishment Officer) Network in the Orgs. Ron was pioneering this. I was chosen to be ESTO of Treasury division for CCLA. Bob held a class once a week at ASHO and I just loved his personality and all the knowledge he had. I was really looking forward to becomming Treasury ESTO when suddenly, after 3 or 4 weeks, Bob disappeared and ask as I might, no one could tell me what happened to him. One day he was here and gone the next day. With his departure, the ESTO Network ceased to exist and was never revived as far as I know. I'll bet he was busted for screwing up the Elvis reg cycle.

Bob Harvey was a live wire!

Back in the 1950s at FCDC, with Ron at the helm, Bob was in the basement in the mailroom. He had a white toilet seat, inscribed with the words "Our Flounder" with a picture of LRH in the center. -- yes, the word was "Flounder"

Rumor had it (spread by Bob, himself) that he , Bob, had been Will Rogers.

I audited his widow, Connie at one point. does anyone know where Connie Hamilton is today? Last time I talked to her she was in Nor Cal near where Bob Ross had lived.

Don Keeler

FWIW:

Don and Barbara are the salt of the earth. They live in town. You (Lakey) should look him up (don't go packing heat), and get into communication.

You are right. He was wrong.

But his life has been way more positive and right than the pigeon holing that you have assigned him. He is a good guy (white hat).
