Looks like a big con to me mate!in
If they were so clever, and that they would be pulling 3% of the cash flow . . . . why would they need to ask for $4,500 up front from you to "train" your, etc. Hell, if they have such a sweet deal on accessing Gov business, it is in their interests to have more than you being the right guy they were looking for :duh: That line is a "give away."in
And also, it'd be in their interest to get you trained up instantly and for free so they could get their 3%'s on cash flow:Din
I've seen these kinds of scams all around the world. I've had to investigate some of them in the old days . . . . it's akin to the "good faith, up front" payment some financial brokers ask for . . . but who fail to deliver, etc.in
Check with the government . . . these birds should be listed there as an approved source if legit. Also do a Better Business Bureau search on them. Check the internet, it is possible they have earned a bad rap.in
Also, get the names of the principals, check 'em . . . and in particular, if you are interested, check with the local law enforcement Fraud Squad . . . hell, you might even become a hero . . . the cops might recruit you to do an op for them (on their $$'s of course)

By the way, the legit way for them to do this would be form a joint venture with you for the processing of Gov Bus . . . . and contracting for the 3% as their "preferred shares guaranteed dividend payment"

There is absolutely no need for the request of $4,500 up front cash to train you.

RogerB . . . . the Ex-Agent 007 for the Businessman Abroad

Sorry about the "in" thing . . . for some reason my system and the board's app are not on correct speaking terms . . . at least I have smilies today

Blue Spirit - Thanks for the history lesson on the Corvair from a mechanics' point of view. I think Nader etched his name into the public consciousness by destroying the Corvair brand. He should have just pointed out the flaws and not trashed the entire line of cars. As you pointed out, the problem had been fixed quickly but too late only because of the bad publicity.

My impression is...

Blue Spirit - Thanks for the history ...

...snip...

Could this just be a scam, using her as bait to attract contractors and just bilk them for $4,500 or is it something legit which I should pursue?. She says that the Obama administration has set aside $500 billion in construction money for government contracts and of that amount $195 billion must go to Small Businesses.

If anyone has any comments on this, I would appreciate it.
Lakey

This has to be a scam - and it sounds like a pretty slick one too.

I could go on and on...but the bottom line is that I would avoid these people like the plague.

Note they get money up front plus a percentage of the gross along the way and you have to perform on any contract you obtain.

I would bet that any "training" is repackaging of material already in the public domain and available from the governments/agencies for free or nominal cost.

That, in itself, is warning enough, IMO.

Thanks Roger and EP!!!! My Son who is 27 strongly advised me against it as well. He is the one who suggested that I ask her for a list of other Contractors to talk to, guys who are already working with her company. When she turned that down, he told me to ask her for a recent list of jobs offered to the other guys showing the types of jobs being offered to them to bid on. My Son is skeptical about everyone and everything while I have been just the opposite. He told me not to get involved with the guy who came over from Austria to work with me, Alex, the supposed helicopter pilot. My Son doesn't even believe he knows how to fly a helicopter. Anyway, I went against my Son's advice and the guy embezzled some serious money from me. Alex actually, in retrospect, has all 12 characteristics of a suppressive person but I could not see it until it was too late and some damage was done.

Once, I was on to him, and could see what he was doing, he continued to try and swindle me setting little traps and con games to hook me in. After he had been exposed, the scams he presented me with and his style of swindling was not at all convincing and in fact was very amateurish. I had decided not to communicate with him any further but he kept emailing me wanting to get together for a beer and show me some new scam. I just ignored every message from him and finally he made his ultimate ploy, he sent me some "good news" that he could pay me the thousands of dollars he owes me in just a few days if only I would loan him $2,500 for shipping some helicopter props he sold which he has stored in Austria and which need to be shipped to his client in the USA. When I ignored this message which he sent three times, he wrote me a viscious hate filled letter, calling me all kinds of 4 letter words and was ranting and raving about how he no longer needed me and that he would succeed and become a millionaire and I would fail. I ignored that email as well and have not heard from him since, about 6 weeks now.

Well, thanks again Roger and EP. My Son is against everything like this so I wanted some other opinions which you two have provided. Oh yes, about the better business bureau, my Son checked with them already. Her company is a member of the BBB but have only been so since Septmember 2009 which is apparently when they opened their current offices in the Van Nuys airport. The BBB has no information on them, either good or bad. My Son did find out that they have been a company since 1994, but they were not with the BBB until 6 months ago. One last thing, I did give her a check for $900 on Friday, but I was careful to give it from an account that only had a couple of hundred bucks in it. I told her on Monday that I would transfer funds into the account Monday so the check will be good but instead I will stop payment on it this morning.

Alas, to have a steady stream of government funded jobs so that I would no longer have to run advertising and compete with other Contractors to sell jobs and to be working on with the vivacious, brilliant and crafty James Bond girl on a daily basis, if only it were a true business opportunity and not a scam....sigh.:confused2:

Higher Affinity

The following is probably out reality, a gross oversimplification, and a generality. Therefore I expect each one of you to have lower affinity for me after you have read it.

In 1952, in England, Ron discovered about 5 to 10 people who were (my opinion) natural auditors (really successful, could make a living out of it), and a number more who could not audit, really. (you will get reference to documentation on this in a week or so).

Ron wanted more to audit, and thus more to get the benefits of auditing. He was very ingenious fellow who in the following years established some "crutches" to enable people to audit.

In Dec 56 to mid 57 he established Training Routines (Trs).

in 1959 in the first Melbourne ACC, he stated that Trs were a substitute for professionalism.

Later, he established daily Trs for all HGC auditors, regardless as to how professional they were. Probably the really professional ones were nevertheless glad for the opportunity to sit down and relax. But for them, daily Trs were unnecessary.

Ron established many other good things, so people could have a frame work, where they could get to understand auditing, develop empathy (interest in the well being of the client), and become more relaxed and more professional when with a preclear, and give gains to preclears while they did so.

Most of these things have become called standard tech, a Holy Cow.

You should perhaps note that in my universe there is a difference between standard tech and the basics of Scientology. Amongst the basics I include the idea that anything which is unwanted and yet persists must be thoroughly viewed, and concern to give the preclear a safe environment in which can relaxedly view unwanted things in his/her universe. It could happen in a bus, without a meter, and no formal rudiments.

My theory is that in some cases we have forgotten to throw away the crutches, one by one, on a gradient as one learns to become a "natural auditor". We could help more people than we allow ourselves to.

That is a very nice job of explaining the True Basics, and I appreciate it.

I know a Class 8 who can't audit worth a fuck and when he does TR-0 he
turns into a robot with a "perfect" blinkless TR-0 which is rigid and tense and
very distracting.

I would NOT stop payment on the check!

Lakey, for $4500, the least she should do is to go to bed with you.

If I had written a check for $4,500 and what you said was in the bargain, I might just let the check go through. I mean, I am really a "dirty old man". I can control it and over ride it if I absolutely have to but under it all IT IS THERE JUST MESSING WITH ME ALMOST 24/7. When I took Luperin which kills testosteron production while treating for the prostate gland, it was like being on vacation from that animalistic, gnawing, lechorous, hungry craving that has always been there since age 11 1/2. What a bane to have to live with, do you male posters agree or disagree? This friggin lady is really Hot!! I googled her and she has a nice little article with her personal history and a lot of photos. She has done some acting, modeling and worked for New Life I believe it was, which deals in health supplements exercise, and some such. Check it out on Gogol! I thought by 70 I would be beyond this stage and was moving in that direction until my meeting with her!

Lakey, my Dear,

In my FZ presentation, I think tape five from memory, I speak about "addictions to certain bodily pleasures and sensations." I was not referring to you particular "intense desires" . . . but the same basic principle applies . . . . it all begins with a "positive" want to experience something.

You have a couple of handlings: one is run the sensations and mood handlings both Alan and I put on the board; 2) another is spot and undo the original decision creating the desire and erase it or bring it back under you volition, and third would be to spot what intention is contained in the "desire" and run the repeat technique on it that is also in that tape #5.

But more importantly, there is a lot of good science on the fact that high testosterone levels is not what is behind prostate problems. Young guys with higher testosterone don't have prostate problems

As we get older the balance shifts and a lot of our testosterone gets converted to estrogen . . . and of course we should all know that testosterone gets converted into DHT . . . which does inflame the prostate. That conversion can be slowed/reduced with saw palmetto berry extract.

In fact, part of my prostate handling was to take the herb Tribulas in order to raise my testosterone . . . which was raised by 50+% and I also took "Estro-DIM" a brand name product that includes DIM and indoles (found in cabbage and other cuniferous veges) to lower my estrogen . . . . this reduced my estrogen level by 30+%. These are both herbal, healthfood store things.

The effect of this was increased/restored muscle mass and strength, and a better ratio of body fat.

Fact of life is that we are being assaulted by estrogen mimics plus, in some areas the drinking water is "contaminated" by run-off of excreted contraception used by the local ladies. Estrogen screws up the prostate.

Sorry guys, the cynic in me says that for $900 she should go to bed with you! :duh: :coolwink:

My vote Lakey is it's a scam, with a lovely, persuasive honeypot saleswoman as the closer. Over a decade ago I had a counseling job working with women in recovery, including former and current prostitutes who were trying to leave "the life", and were getting themselves together. In looking for employment, they always listed "sales" as their previous work experience on job applications-just sayin! :whistling:

Stop payment on the check Lakey, and chock it up to a learning experience.
I read something in the news recently, contact your local Small Business Administration office, they have volunteers who are helping folks like you learn how to benefit from the recent and coming government job stimulus monies, including how to compete for govt. contracts. It's free! :)

Good questioning what was too good to be true, Lakey. Good for your son, too.

I say, report them to the Attorney General's office! This is a hard time for small business venders, and no time to loose money needlessly for bogus "services". :bigcry:

Yes, it seems to have a high asthetic component for me surrounded with Mystique, mystery, being something temporal which is fleeting in time and non lasting. I can't come real close to zeroing in on it and duplicating it.

2) spot and udo the original decision creating the desire and erase it seems to indicate the most. I have tried to spot and handle this urge all the way up the bridge from Life Repair to XDN to NOTS and have not been able to look anywhere near deep enough to blow it. However, I am much much stronger as a pc now than I ever was while in C of S. I think I could zero in on it and blow it now, I really believe I could achieve that. The third solution seems the next mosst interesting andthe the first solution.

But more importantly, there is a lot of good science on the fact that high testosterone levels is not what is behind prostate problems. Young guys with higher testosterone don't have prostate problems

Rog, on the testosterone scene, I actually had prostate cancer, It was a small 5mm x 10 mm localized tumor which apparently had been there for many years and had not grown. This one school of treatment is called hormone therapy and they have you get a luperin shot every 6 months plus take something orally. The theory is that the cancer cells feed off of the testerone and as soon as you take the luperin, it kills off the testosterone and over 98% of the cancer cells die off and the tumor shrinks to virtually nothing. Unfortunately the hardiest one to two percent of the cancer cells find a way to survive and the tumor is not fully killed off. Doctor Tucker, who treated me, found empirically that if one took the luperin 15 months or less, the testosterone would return in full force but if taken much longer than that, the testosterone would never return. I took it for 15 months, then backed off. The tumor came right back to full size when I stopped. Dr. Tucker recommended I just keep doing this the rest of my life, 15 months on luperin, 6 months off as long as I lived. I would never need surgery. Then a cryotherapist Dr. Bahn called me and said, just come in and get the cancer frozen. He said he would take me as an outpatient, only an hour in surgery with just a local anesthetic, an overnight stay in the hospital, home the next day and back to work the day after that. He said that I would then be cured of prostate cancer and he said, he only needed to freeze 1/2 half the gland so the other half could carry on with its normal functions. It worked out pretty much as he said it would. I had it done in September 2008, I had a vacation from having a sex drive for 9 months and then in June the sex drive started to return. over the last 9 months, it had inched up to about 40% of its old level of my 30's. Just recently, it started going up more to may 50 to 55% of the youthful level, About 50% of the levels of youth is where I would like it to be. Above that it is more of an annoyance than anything else. This Sveltlana woman really caused it to spike up to too high of a level, maybe 75% of that of my youth. Dealing with that is just unnecessary work and travail. Well Roger, thanks again, it seems my next step is to hear tape #5. Where is the best place to find it on the internet?
Lakey

Having had a family member go through the same thing, luperin does indeed work in many cases.

It's now believed that Vitamin D deficiency plays a significant role in prostate cancer onset in many cases.

You're welcome, and thanks for the ack, Lakey!

Thanks for that useful information Thetanic, seems like "D" is good for all kinds of things.

Don't plastic bottles and some food containers put estrogenic compounds into our food, too?

If it looks like a scam and smells like a scam, it most likely is. Check with the govt and find out how you would be able to bid on their contracts without this company as the middle man. She's asking you to lay out an awful lot of money up front without any references or way to check them out. Any ligitimate business I've ever seen is out in the open and welcomes you to check out their reputation with people they've done business with. All they are really offering you would be leads to bid on..., if I read your post here correctly.

What kind of training do they want you to do that you would be paying for?

Turn the situation around a bit....imagine that you wanted to set up a business like they have.....you would have to scout out the contracts and then sell those leads to contractors who would then have to bid on the jobs. How would you go about doing that? How is it that this company would have access to all the smaller companies that would be getting the money from the govt so that they could even have leads for contractors to bid on?

From what you've described, it looks like a con to me, but what do I know? :confused2:

I am not sure what they were going to do and if it was actual training or further qualifying. She did say that she would train me how to put the bids together the way the government likes it done. HERE IS SOME MORE VITAL DATA:

IN THE EYES OF THE U.S. GOVENMENT A SMALL BUSINESS IS UNDER 35 EMPLOYEES AND UNDER 11 MILLION A YEAR IN PROFITS. ABOVE THAT IIT IS CONSIDERED MID SIZED OR BIG BUSINESS.

She said the jobs available ranged from $25,000 to $20,000,000. She said the breakdown point in the Government's eyes was $1,500,000. Below that was considered a small job and above it is a big job. She said to stay away from big jobs because the doucments and routing forms and all the red tape to get a big job through is much longer and harder. The biggest residential job I have done is only $250,000 so she suggested I keep this as my upper limit in selecting jobs to bid or maybe go a bit higher than that. She just said that as long as they are below $1.5 million that is the main thing.

HER TRUMP CARD She said that a lot of the time, only large companies, over 35 employees would bid on smaller jobs, say $250,000 and no small companies would choose to bid on a particular job. She said that the Government law for the Obabma economic recovery package stipulates that Small Business are to do 35% of all the jobs placed out there for bid.
The key thing is that there is a 5% rule that if a Large Business and a Small Business are both biding on the same job, the government must choose the Small Business as long as they are no more than 5% higher than the large business if the small businesses are receiving less than their 35% share of all jobs.

She says that in the course of her job, she gets to reveiw all the bids on various projects and if she sees that only Large Companies have bid, SHE WILL COME AND TELL ME THAT IF I WILL BID 5% MORE THAN THE LOWEST OF THE LARGE COMPANY BIDS THAT I MUST BE AWARDED THE JOB. SHE STRESSED THAT THIS WAS WHAT MADE HER SERVICE SO VALUABLE AND THAT NO ONE ELSE COULD DO THIS FUNCTION EXCEPT FOR HER COMPANY. This really sounded very good to me and whetted my appetite to sign up.

NOW THEY HAD TWO LEGS OF A 3 LEG STOOL IN PLACE.
#1 I WOULD JOIN her TEAM. WE WOULD BE IN TOUCH DAILY BY PHONE AND EMAIL AND WE WOULD BE MEETING OFTEN TO REVEIW OUR BIDS AND DISCUSS STRATEGIES. SHE MADE IT SOUND AS IF SHE TRIED TO PICK PEOPLE FOR HER TEAM WHO MATCHED UP WELL WITH HER MENTALLY AND THOUGHT THE SAME WAY SHE DID. SHE TOLD ME THAT WAS ONE OF THE REASONS SHECHOSE ME OUT OF THE 5. (Could there just be some truth in her explanation here? I would like to think so but perhaps she spotted how gullable I was and perceived me as the easiest mark out of the 5 builders.)

#2 Her company, especially with her as my team leader, could completely bring my business into affluence if I would only just sign up. The fees of $100 a month plus 3% of my sales seemed very fair. I was done - just stick a fork in me. Now and only now did she bring up the $4,500 in fees.

#3 I had already decided to sign up but only now did she mention the $4,500 pre signing fees. There were 3 payment totalling $4,500 including $900 down. She said I would need $2000 more in one week and $1600 more in two weeks. I THEN KNEW I WAS NOT GOING TO GO ALONG WITH IT. I AM JUST NOT GULLABLE ENOUGH TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY TO TOTAL STRANGERS. She said I would start receiving my leads in one month or 2 weeks after my last payment. This smelled fishy too. They had all your money two weeks before the program was to start paying off. I should have said thanks but no thanks and walked out but I decided to authorize the $900 deposit and try and do more research over the weekend so that if there was any merit in this company, I would not jeopardize my position. I figured that I could stop payment on my check on Monday which is what I did.

Another Terrible Scam

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Home Depot customers.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping.
Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic.
Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works:
Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look.

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot. You agree and they get in the backseat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen January 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, & 24th 29th. Also February 1st, 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, three times last Saturday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful......!!!!!!!!!!

I had many good mammaries in my girl friend's Corvair.

Scientology didn't get that "Old lady judges watch people in pairs, limited in sex they dare," attitude until after we left.

It was us, the baby boomers, who bought hot tubs. (Before there were fiberglass spas, there were redwood stave water tanks for soaking at 110 degrees.) There would be twenty or thirty naked people from the center on week ends at a friend's hot tub. If it's not fun, it's not Scientology. And we could talk freely about any subject.

My girl friend, MEW, and I were on the outs for a little bit in 1971 or 1972. PS gave her a session. He asked how good I was in bed. She replied "He's the best!" End of ARC break. The word of that session got around.
