The Little Thread Which Grew - the Apollo '73 to Everything But

I gots warm fuzzies!

Thank you for your kind words.

I read this thread from the beginning for months before I posted here.:melodramatic:

There is no "Ron's Tech" IMO. There are many wonderful mysteries to Life and Living that, to me, each one of Us is a piece to the puzzle. El Ron was provided with and given many pieces that he tried to force into place…some of those pieces helped greatly, while some of Hisselfs "construct" actually made my journey more perilous…I won’t dwell on that here and now.

I don't consider that I am here now, as I am now, because of my "OTness"...whatever that is.:confused2:

My Life and Living is because of those that cared for me, watched out for me and, regardless what came, would not turn their back to me, abandon me when I was "nothing". That is a "debt" I can never repay and, for which, those others never thought for a moment of marking in a "ledger".

That is why I believe, unshakably, in all of Us that know we have have "debts" we can never repay and, incumbent for our "Thank You" and "Appreciation" is Us, going forward truly Living without "ledger".:coolwink:

So glad you decided to join Us all here.

Face:)

This is a quote for Facey, Yorkie and everyone else on this board who still can allow some warm fuzzies to creep into their hearts at a good meeting of the minds with ARC! :happydance:

"A grateful heart a garden is, where there is always room,
for every lovely, God-like grace to come to perfect bloom." :happydance:

Thank you again for the additional reply

And the esteem you associate with that is your own consideration.

You are free to adopt or reject such considerations at will. You are also free to use such considerations as a means of self validation or invalidation as time & circumstance may suit you to do. :)

All "manners training" and other forms of social conditioning are efforts to achieve a "moral consensus" on "acceptable standards of behavior". Different activities generate different groups, which in turn have differing moralities, i.e. "acceptable standards of behavior". Math geeks run by different rules than do Young Republicans.

These differing rule sets often run afoul of one's own personal goals & interests as well as each other. See: The GPM. :)

Here's an imaginative exercise:

A. diagram how an individual having each of the identities of an islamist, a magician, a mother, a wife, a mexican citizen, a business owner, and a resident of Santa Monica could be seen to have these identities align with each other.

B. now diagram how the exact same items in the above could be in conflict with each other.

It shouldn't take much to see how easily the conflicts can interfere with the alignments.

Warning: as has been noted by CO & Roger working with one's own "actual items" can produce strong effects; emotional, philosophical, & physical. Hence my exercise suggests items which do not correspond to your own life.

One good "formula" for identifying a service facsimile: that which is used to make yourself right by making another wrong.

What is often "missed" is that this can just as easily apply between different identities of the same being as it can between different beings. This can open up whole new & different vistas of: how have you made yourself right, how have you made yourself wrong.

Example: the "mother" makes the "doctor" wrong for not spending more time with her family, whereas the "doctor" makes the "mother" wrong for not devoting enough time to her career.

Result: energy wasted in continual self-recrimination which could have been used for other creative activity.

Have you ever known a person who continually denigrated his own accomplishments? :)

Mark A. Baker

I have a policy that if some case turns on I try and blow it by inspection. For items that don't blow or seem like major case actions which are complex, I just leave them alone. I do not want to try and run them on myself or engage in coffee shop type of auditing because I am not trained to handle this stuff and may ball up my case.

I appreciate your claricication. Perhaps you or someone you know feels that helping an ED is just as important or more important than actually being an E.D. If that is true, I fully respect that and in no way would try and make you wrong for believing that to be true. I just want to be able to be an E.D. or not be an E.D. as the situation calls for. My cognition seemed to be to be limiting in that it made me feel that I had to be an E.D.'s aide and was not cut out to ever be the E.D. I was just trying to understand my cognition more fully without making myself right or anyone else wrong. I know this is the case even though it may not seem so to another person.

This whole topic and cognition was just mentioned in passing as an item of interest and is not really important to me in the big picture so I am going to bow out of the discussion at this point and give you the last word.

This thread is the place to be for sure... I feel kinda guilty for all the good stuff I'm getting as I "draft or slipstream" along behind the real champions on this thread.:clap:

This definition comes to mind - the cooperative action here is palpable and, dare I say it....exciting!:thumbsup:

EP

Drafting (aerodynamics)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A paceline of drafting cyclists
Drafting or slipstreaming is a technique where two vehicles or objects align in a close group reducing the overall effect of drag due to exploiting the lead object's slipstream. Especially when high speeds are involved, drafting can significantly reduce the paceline's average energy expenditure required to maintain a certain speed and can also slightly reduce the energy expenditure of the lead vehicle or object.
Drafting is used to reduce wind resistance and is seen most commonly in bicycle racing, car racing, and speedskating, though drafting is occasionally used even in cross-country skiing and running. Some forms of triathlon allow drafting. Drafting occurs in swimming as well, both in open-water races (occurring in natural bodies of water) and in traditional races in competition pools. In a competition pool, a swimmer may hug the lane line that separates him/her from a swimmer of whom s/he is abaft, thereby taking advantage of the liquid slipstream in the other swimmer's wake.
In cycling, the main (largest) group of tightly packed cyclists in a race is called a peloton, where cyclists ride in a long formation, with each (but not the first rider) drafting behind the others before them.
When cyclists ride fast, they form a paceline. Each cyclist (but not the first) is drafting behind another one.

Belgian tourniquet (Belgischer Kreisel)
In order to ride very fast, a team of some skilled cyclists may form the Belgian tourniquet. Successively, each cyclist leads the group.
Drafting can be cooperative, in which several competitors take turns in the lead position (which requires the most effort and energy consumption). Or, it can be competitive or tactical, where one competitor will try to stay closely behind another leaving him or her more energy for a break-away push to the finish line.

When I was a youngster, my father would draft big trucks on long drives.

When I got older I watched (on TV) Junior Johnson drafting other drivers at Daytona on ABC's Wide Wold of Sports.

I couldn't find youtube footage of that, but I did find this, and I was entranced.

Thetanic Dahlink, I think if you reflect upon that answer "in a new unit of time", so to speak, you may find that that answer wasn't perhaps quite as silly as it seemed at the time of your first viewing. :whistling:

True, all that time in Florida could have very well been a right item. ;)

Uh, er a I er uh, gulp, I don't know what to say, Face. The thing that comes to mind is kind of corny but... God Bless You! Carmelo called me yesterday while I was out and left a message that Mike Horton blew out on this thread yesterday and now you come up with this!

I would endure a dozen demotions by Don Keeler, being passed up for 50 promotions by Yvonne, having Kitty Georgius be my boss for a 100 years and have Sandy Wilhere rip up my correct why finding 2 dozen times to contribute in some way in helping guys such as you, Mike Horton and Gary York but especially you Face due to your unique contributions to the LRH and Apollo portions of this thread and your special personal story of overcoming brain damage which was thought to be not overcomeable.

I was right for resuming the Apollo thread in October 2009 after it had sat idle since March. I thought there would be some really good interest in the CCLA portion of my story. As I say, my goal was to hit 10,000 views and maybe make a personal friend or two from those who wrote replies. Never in my wildest imagination did I imagine that writing a thread could lead to so many wins, from making case gain, to making new friends, to having a video on youtube but those all pale to being able to entertain and then cause case gain for others and give hope to others, some very special others at that.

None of this would have ever happened had I not thrown in with Ron and make a major attempt to play his game in order to help others and myself. So as you point out Face, this must have been my destiny, to find LRH and throw in with him and his bunch of boys and girls and believe we were saving a planet.

Thirty seven years later I do end up helping others and also getting help myself by starting this thread and participating very diligently on it with my incomparable associates, Carmelo and Sweetness and the huge cast of all stars whom we have assembled.

One thing about helping others move forward, it has got to be the real game where everyone wins, you never go wrong when you do that, so like Carmelo, two posts up, and Face one post up, I will join them wiping away a tear and march forward knowing that the Sea Org was my destiny and that the world is a wee bit better in that one guy experienced the Sea Org life and got out and still had enough in him to tell his story for the benefit of others. I think the pretty blond auditor who Carmelo pictured above would be happy to know that a guy she audited for over 300 hours ended up being able to give help to some very fine people later on in his life. Now if you will excuse me, my TA is Floating and I am going to go out and enjoy this new state of awareness.
Lakey

Lakey, remember back when you wanted to be an auditor? :D There are many ways to do it, and I think you have co-created a very fun one here... I consider a big game is one that helps people, that floats all boats, so to speak! :coolwink:
You're still on your learning and healing journey, and you're not done yet!!! I'm cheering you on! :D

Facey's comments are spot on! What a wise and loving being my big Bro is! :happydance:

Yes, that's been one of my issues with the listing process for years. Very often we'd run with my largest item and leave the charge on the others. Then one of those would kick in, and I'd wind up in session, but by the time the question was asked in session, some other list item would read the most.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

It always struck me that we should run the ones I expressed an interest in running in addition to the one that read the most.

Granted, sometimes one would just come up with silly answers that may have no real charge on them. I think I once said an orange was suppressing me. :)

Honey, this is one of the fundamentals of good counseling! :coolwink:

Been doing it for the last 16 years. Still doing it.

With the oldest one, it was because she was gifted and the school system was hostile to the idea of me teaching her math well in advance of her grade level (she knew how to do long division and simple algebra in first grade, besides reading similarly well above her level). So I pulled her out and home-schooled.

The younger ones mostly went along with the flow. The youngest one I tried letting go to regular school, but she was dyslexic and I had to pull her out to work on her. She reads above grade level now with no further trace of dyslexia.

My wife started a school back in the early seventies when one of our boys wasn't getting everything. She talked to the public school principal and he assured her that many kids were graduated not knowing all they should. That was the impetus. Forty years later, her accredited K-12 school is still around, and she's still Chairman of the Board.

Our youngest daughter started at my wife's school at age 4 in kindergarten because she already could read. She knew her alphabet and numbers by 2.

Later, she went to public school. In a GATE (honors) math class she was made wrong by the teacher for her answer being wrong according to the answer booklet. My daughter showed how her answer was correct. That caused problems. She was, indeed, right. Politically speaking, she wasn't that popular. She would spend long periods away from her school in Nor Cal, while doing auditions, go sees, and work (SAG, AFTRA) in La La Land. She'd stay with her sister in Sherman Oaks and every six weeks or so, I'd go down and do six weeks of homework with her in an afternoon. I wasn't too impressed by the challenge of her school work.

One day, some friends came over. My daughter and I were playing Go (a thousand year old game from the Orient). Lew, who worked as a geek at Apple (whose father taught at Harvard), and had played Go with our group of friends for a decade or more, sat down to indulge my daughter in a game. Shortly, he was taking his time making every move. When she beat him, he turned beet red. He told everybody about being beaten by a sixth grader.

The school system is not setup to handle anything other than cookie cutter students. The ones on the top and the ones on the bottom get short changed.

So many fine and thought-filled posts these past few days from all Yall! Thank you…thanks a whole bunch.

IMO, metaphorically:

The whole physical universe and its phenomena are, in part, a filter.

That we live in a “Sea of Life” and, like all Sea creatures, we are Living at a depth, temperature, salinity, luminance, etc. that is tolerable to our capabilities.

That the “fractalness” of Living is, in part, a function of time in interplay with no-time and timeless.

That this Sea is a confluence, intersection or melting pot of Universes, and a multitude of Universes of Universes.

That we are, possibly, like “mammals” in this Sea”, that we are, possibly, one of many various types of mammals in the Sea.

That here are numerous other creatures, non mammalian, Living within this Sea and that they, just as Us, cannot fully fathom the entirety of the Sea and the confluences of influences—dimensions if you will—that make “It” thus and so, “this” and/or “that”.

That even though we are not consciously aware of all the interdependencies of our Sea’s physical and spiritual ecosystem, we are blessed and/or cursed, as it may be, with the desire to asked questions and the drive for answers.

That each of Us is interconnected with all of Us, with all our fellow Sea creatures, the substance of the Sea and all phenomena.

That we cannot not look—that identity is but one of the lenses for looking and can, as phenomena, be looked at in separate or within context with other phenomena, such as mind or as a near endless multitude of phenomena concerts, such as current, future, past identity, mind, body fractal constructs.

That each of Us has a singular personal “language” and that all other creatures in this Sea have their own language, as does all phenomena and all these languages are, in essence, symbolics and, in integers more than 1, somewhat symbiotic.

That the Sea’s modus is a big conversation wherein the Sea is the questions and each and all of Us are the answers.

I know that all of the foregoing is poorly stated, not new or original and very simplistic. I have neither formula or methodology regarding any of what I have written. It is merely a brief, clumsy attempt to express and share how I “see” “It” all, how I “Feel” “It” all.

And, to paraphrase the old adage, “That and $10.00 will get you an Havana Churchill.”:D

Face :)

I would not call it the sea, but the "ether. "

Either way, same thing.

My girlfriend in the 70s and I would agree to meet at 1PM in Palo Alto. With no cell phones or computers, just thetans connected, we'd both arrive from a hundred miles away, separately, within a minute or two of each other around 3.

We had a tax preparer (attorney and CPA) with an assistant, so in tune with each other, that they would finish each others' sentences.

It feels like this list has walked into the tide pools of the sea of oneness, where we are all, more or less, in the same water, seeing the same things. Picking up the starfish and touching the anemone and examining them together.

I primarily promote standard tech. But have a very liberal stance.

I know personally that Carmello and Ted have achieved..... Well. At least
in the direction of miracles. Others, Roger for example, I don't have any data.

Well! He trained me to be an FSM. Still doing it sort of. :)

Ted taught me how to write effectively.

I came to the same realization, at least as far as the public school system is concerned. This is especially true after tracking was eliminated. It used to be that grades were divided into fast, medium, and slow students, who went into separate classrooms. Then there were lawsuits because the tracks weren't racially proportionate, so they lumped everybody together.

This results in the class moving at "convoy speed", where the slowest third set the pace. Move faster than the slowest third can keep up with, and they get frustrated and cause trouble. It doesn't matter to the system if the smarter students get bored.

My cynical side wonders whether this is deliberate, to sabotage the education of the non-elites who can't afford high-end private schools, so as to remove them from being able to compete effectively with the children of the current elites. You see, elite parents have a problem: just because daddy is a brilliant, energetic go-getter does not necessarily mean his kids will be just as brilliant. And we can't have seeing Junior being shown up by some plumber's kid. But there's only so much you can do to enhance your own kid.

I just have my theories and pet considerations. Still working on Expanded Grade 0 here. :)

If I taught Carmelo anything about writing I'll be damned if I know what that was.

I do know that the best writing often gets no response, particularly on chats. I do recall mentioning that observation to Carmelo many years ago. But, getting no response should not stop anyone from giving it their best shot. There's a great deal of "case" gain to be had by articulating and testing your thoughts on the playing field(s) of the internet. Why you don't even have to give your real-life name. And when someone gets PO'd at ya they can't reach out to punch ya in the nose. There has to be some safety in that. So go ahead and let 'er rip!

And, oh, yeah... Two kinds of posts get no response: The first one rings so damn true that there is nothing left for anyone to contribute. The second is so far off-base that it gets completely ignored. Unfortunately, you will probably never know which is which if you are depending on others to tell you where you stand. :dieslaughing:

True, scientology is a workable system. Depends on whose hands it lies. Evidence abounds that scn has not worked for everyone. At least it did not work as promised. Like that ghostly fifth man in a barbershop quartet, whether it has worked or not, all involved are to blame, to one degree or another.

Having said that, I will add that you, Terril, are what LRH had described as the ideal Div 6'er. You just keep right on keeping on knowing or feeling no reason to do otherwise no matter what or how much trash someone throws at you. I wish I had one of you in my Mission or WISE company.

While I am wishing, I wish I was still running my groups sans upper management involvement, and I wish LRH wasn't a flake, ...

Okay that will do.

I'd say the evidence is that scn worked in the hands of those who
genuinely wished the betterment of the recipients. Even if not perfectly.

And "miracles" abound. I post them nearly every day.

Some years ago I went into my old org to buy a book for an FZ contact.
Somehow they quickly twigged I was ex FEBC and so on, and this very beautiful div 6 in charge "trapped" me in a room and tried to sort of recruit me or whatever, very low key. I felt enormous affinity, we were doing the same thing. Trying to make the world a better place.

Shit! She was so cute! She dosn't seem to be around anymore, thank
goodness. :)

Carmelo's post sparked an avalanche of discussion. He knows it, he just called me. He is pretty hyped up about it and also about oiur thread in general. Carmelo remarked that we are in a hyperdrive type Power condition. I fully agree.

Carmelo's posts brought responses from Ted, Face, Fo Ti and others and then Roger came back on to the board.

I was not worried about Roger leaving us. I know he is extremely busy and when all is said and done there are only two guys on our thread who have disagreements with him, dozens of us love Roger. To abandon the thread because of two guys disagreeing with him, I did not believe that was Roger's style.

As for those two guys, they are both more than welcome to post here from my perspective but they have not been around for a few days either and I recall Vinaire invited Leon to dialogue with him over on Vinaire's thread so maybe they are over there having a dialogue, I don't know!

In the meantime, I am going to stand back and read the hot and heavy action which Carmelo touched off and which has been so enthusiastically discussed by so many of our thread readers and posters. Carmelo and I both have no idea where the storm of interest in this topic will lead us but we will see where it goes!!!

Before signing off, I just checked our status. We have severn members currently reading our thread along with 5 guests or a total of twelve and for all the "Inside Scientology Stories" combined there are 19 people reading them. 12 out of 19 is 63.2% so nearly 2 of 3 readers reading the inside stories on ESMB are reading our thread. That is pretty amazing!!

There's more than one way to skin a cat, that's for sure. I like the expression, "to float all boats", that's what I like to do. However, if a special mariner such as Facey has a leak in his poop deck, I like to float his boat more than just an average boat.

As far as auditing people in the chair, "I've been there done that", I wanted to devote my life to that at age 30 and I was in no uncertain terms singled out to be denied that experience. As I saw yesterday, my destiny was to take another route so that I could arrive here on the Apollo '73 thread and provide help to people. At 70, what I like to do to help people in lieu of auditing them are the following:

1. Tell my own stories and anecdotes to entertain and wear the hat of a writer.
2. Being smarter than average, I like to stick my 2 cents in and give my opinion to others.
3. Some others are equally as smart as me and I like to dialogue and compare notes and we both make gains together. Again Face rears his head!
4. Some others are smarter than me or even a few much smarter. Thank God they are out there because we smart guys have to have them around to learn from them just as rank and file people need guys like us to learn from.

So far we are about where a class IV auditor would be. At this level, I am doing as much good for mankind on this thread as I would be auditing Class IV. But what about higher levels?

This is where some skill and talent comes into play. The GAME IS TO SURROUND ONESELF WITH ALL STARS, MINIMALLY AT ONE'S OWN LEVEL AND THEN UP TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL BEINGS WHO ARE AROUND. REALIZING I AM NOT THEIR OPINION LEADER, I HELP MOCK UP A SAFE SPACE FOR THEM TO COMMUNICATE FROM AND PROVIDE THEM WITH PLENTY OF READERS. TO DO THIS, I HAVE TO PULL IN TALENTED ASSOCIATES, DEVELOP A GAME PLAN AND THEN PROCEED FROM THERE.

Now, I am delievering as much help as if I were a Class VIII in the chair. To try and go higher still, I start attending the Field Social cirlces and get in comm with people, a couple of tapes of me appear on Youtube. Its a start. The old buttons Ethics Presence and Charisma rear their ugly heads. How am I going to get more of those attributes? I think, "do a reverse vector, just be yourself", a downhome country boy, or for me a Jewboy who did not fit well in his West L.A. Jewish community. Here again Face is a model with that Texas drawl and all that humble y'all type of lingo.

Will Rogers went far with his down home Southern spun personna. One old comedian, Herb Schriner, Carmelo probably remembers him, made his whole shtick appearing to have low ethics presence and low charisma and being a NERD. Let me see if I can dig up a video of Herb Shriner

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK63gdM-TBI

What a Nerd commedian he was! If you have no Ethics Presence and only a little charisma, it looks as if you can do a Herb Shriner number on yourself and emphasize your Nerdiness and you can be a big star. I haven't watched his show in over 50 years and just watching all these clips, you can see how good he really was.

I don't know if any of you have seen my new youtube videos but I have at least as much personality as ole Herbie had and if he could make it big, anyone can.
