So what if the guy isn't weighted down with 50 pounds of gear, but instead puts on 50 lbs of fat.....does that mean that a life vest will only work on skinny guys?

It's about density, not weight. You float when you weigh less than the water your volume displaces. Fat is not all that dense. Lead and steel (as in lead bullets and steel equipment) is.

Not necessarily . . . . believe me. This is an "experiment" I've been a party to.

Basically, all we humans will float as long as we have our lungs filled with air and don't lift our arms out of the water . . . folk who panic and lift their arms reduce unwittingly reduce their buoyancy. If they were to keep their entire body except their head in the water (salt or ocean water) they will float. Fresh water is less dense, and one is more likely to sink deeper if you don't have a very filled lung capacity.

Also folks who panic tend to expel too much air out of their lungs with their panic breathing . . . . the trick is to hold your lungs semi-full and breath only the "top half."

I've only known one man who actually sank (in fresh water) carrying out the exercise above. He seemed to be border-line is ocean water.

He is my mate William Tutmen (we were on assignment together in Abu Dhabi as guests of the Sheik.) And Bill is a short chubby guy . . . maybe he needed a good stout dose of laxative:D (He was on NOTs at flag when I knew him last)

I've taught lots of folks to swim, and the first two gradients I always put in for them are the facts that: a) keep air in your lungs and b) keep your arms below the water surface . . . . and you won't/can't sink. The next gradient is to learn how to use your hands under the water to give lift.

Fat folks are more buoyant than skinny, bony types. In my album of photos in my profile, there is an old press photo of me when I was competing as a swimmer . . . I'm total muscle and very little fat . . . and in that condition I would float for extended periods of time in the ocean while waiting for waves . . . the only thing is that one tended to settle a little too low on the surface without the use of the hands to keep the water lower on the neck at the shoulder level, as in disturbed ocean water one needs to keep the face high.

Rog

Finally, I meet someone who knows what he is talking about -- a real swimmer!

I sink like a stone in water. I have to maintain forward motion or I am finished. When I float, as you point out, I have to keep the lungs filled with air, or I sink. And I have to keep the arms and hands moving if only a little bit when I am on my back. People who can float always tell me to just relax. Sorry, that doesn't work for me even though I can see that it works for those who give such advice.

In the Navy they told us, should you find yourself overboard for an extended period, to go facedown in the water, then come up for air, and back to facedown. Sorry, no go. If I am facedown I will reach equilibrium with my head about four feet under the surface. When I come up I will be sucking water instead of air. Here an ounce of prevention is worth that proverbial pound of cure: "Where are the life-vests!" :omg::omg::omg:

That's what I want to know. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

One dark and moonless night last year, I was kayaking on Monterey Bay with my faithful four legged companion. It was so dark, I didn't see a big swell. It toppled us into the water. I dropped the paddle. It sunk. We got to swim in; Q pulled me, I pulled the kayak. Stupid is as stupid does.

Oh my, I'm on a roll again where things keep being posted budda bing per reflections during my week.
The 2D stuff is very like a drug affect.
I was looking at a charge that I was viewing on someone and I noticed that in this mass was this justification by reason that the orgasms were so fantastic that it had to be right. It had to be survival. Pleasent sensations are supposed to be survival. Really G-R-E-A-T ones are even Ascension experiences. Out of your gourd, one with the universe almighty type stuff.
I was running something spacy where the person involved was laying eggs. However those eggs were harvested and the beings connected to them as sort of sacrificial offerings. Sad, like those baby calves which are born to a NO FUTURE. No goals, no play, no motion, given life in order to be denied it right off so that its energy can sustain another. While running it there seemed to be sort of service fac on this. No guilt. A generalized feeling that no regret need be allowed in. I had to bridle my own feelings on this as all I was really picking up were the spasms rocking the uterus. Powerfully induced orgasms. (reptilian) :D This is like a drug high ascension state. And yeah, it IS bypassed on the second dynamic. This whole generation is missing the fact that the direction of jobs and money and immigration and social security and health care is all wrapped around the human growth factor. :whistling: We do not care to modify or inspect the behavior where we bring others into this world with abandon without tending the soil so there will be bright futures.

Some AWESOME posts from you lately, Hats. Count me among the most ardent of your admirers. I think the work you are doing is superb. I love it. Please keep at it. And when you get "to the other side of the bridge" then wait for me. I want to meet you one day.

From one viewpoint, the T-34 was not the "best", since one-on-one it was no match for the German Tiger tank.

The genius of the design of the T-34, was that it was a very effective tank that was so simple to make, that the Russians were able to make 57,000 of them. The same philosophy made the SKS and AK-47 rifles the most widely made semi-auto rifles in the world.

Indeed. The german 88 was perhaps the best gun of WWII. The T34
was very cheap to build, and got cheaper while being improved, was quite reliable, easy to service, very rugged. A characteristic of soviet
military engineering which didn't get carried forward to all their motor cars!

The Tiger tank was complex, expensive, and not that reliable.
Below a snip of from wikipedia on the T 34.

You can even get one cheap as your second car. :)

Aint it grand to be able to go so far off topic. :)

--------------
The improved T-34-85 remained the standard Soviet medium tank with an uninterrupted production run until the end of the war. The Germans responded to the T-34 by introducing completely new, very expensive and complex second-generation tanks, greatly slowing the growth of their tank production and allowing the Soviets to maintain a substantial numerical superiority in tanks.[72] Production figures for all Panther types reached no more than 6,557, and for all Tiger types 2,027.[73] Production figures for the T-34-85 alone were 22,559. The T-34 replaced most light, medium, and heavy tanks in Soviet service. Its evolutionary development led directly to the T-44 and T-54/55 series of tanks, built until 1981 and still operated today.
[edit]
Surviving vehicles

Due to the large number produced, there are hundreds of surviving T-34s. Examples of this tank are in the collections of most significant military museums, and hundreds more serve as war memorials. Many are in private ownership, and demilitarised working tanks change hands for between $20,000 and $40,000 USD. Some still may serve in a second-line capacity in a number of Third World militaries, while others may find use in a civilian capacity, primarily in film making. For the movie Saving Private Ryan, two T-34 tanks were modified to resemble Tiger I tanks, due to the rarity of the latter vehicle. Several were used for the same purpose in Polish TV series "Czterej pancerni i pies". Most of them appeared in the third episode. Unlike "Ryan Tigers", as they came to be known, Tigers from the series had their road wheels covered, thus making the trick less obvious.

The durability of the T-34 is underlined by a recent restoration. In 2000, a T-34 Model 1943 was recovered that had spent 56 years at the bottom of a bog in Estonia.[74] The tank had been captured and used by retreating German troops, who dumped it in the swamp when it ran out of fuel. There were no signs of oil leakage, rust, or other significant water damage to the mechanical components. The engine was restored to full working order.[75]

Today, I ran a session on my friend Edey and also wanted to train her to run these type of sessions and got the bright idea of having her run a session on me. We decided to use the alternate questions which Roger gave me yesterday.

Edey wanted me to call an old girlfriend of mine and I was not in the mood to do it; she started insisting and it turned on some stuff on my case. I had butterfly's in the pit of my stomach, a tight strained feeling in my throat and the feeling of being stuck in the eye. I suggested she run the NOTS process on this. Everything was going smoothly as I run pretty fast and then I told her to use Roger's alternate commands relaitng to the Intention/Purpose being pursued and what was it doing as an automatic on going creation.

Edey gave me the command (or question if you prefer). I intended the questioin to the leader of a cluster and all hell broke lose. First, the entity did not know the answer and had to ponder it, so we waited and then I had her deliver the same command again. The answer was truly astounding. The answer given by the team leader of the cluster was that their bosses did not trust them to have the ability to give the command as needed on their own volition so they were dumbed down and the purpose they were to carry out was put on an automatic circuit and they as beings were being bypassed. The team leader got angry with his bosses and all the cluster members got angry as well and they started cussing out the bosses for betraying them. The team leader originated to me, "We were told that you were a liar and were no good but actually it was our bosses who lied to us and not you. You seem like an upfront person so we are changing sides. To hell with our bosses, we are allying with you!" I told her to ask me whether I wanted to keep these entities or blow them and she gave me the command but when I went to intend it to the cluster, the cluster was gone!! All the somatics had stopped and the cluster had blown. I would have chosen to keep them and rehabiltate them but I did not get the opportunity to make that choice. That completed the session on me by Edey. She did pretty good. I had to prompt her quite a bit to give the proper commands but she did a nice job and her acks were good as well.

Not done or even studied this area in depth but it sounds very similar to CBR Excal.

The whole "2D" thing issue is way overrated, the way I see it.
Most of it comes simply from portraying it so very "dirty" and unspeakable. Which is such a bullshit.
There is really no issue. It doesn't have to be complicated or "aberrated". It can very clean, simple and beautiful.

Ah a data series grad describing " ideal scene". :)

Great confront and persistence from Q!

Ah! But there are exceptions. :coolwink:

I was at school with a guy who had studied karate all his life, ever since he was a small child. He was remarkably strong and agile but he couldn't float. Neither in fresh water or SALT.

It didn't matter how much he inflated his lungs. He ALWAYS sank. He had as much natural buoyancy as a chunk of granite. He wasn't even especially big. He was about my size, although a little shorter. He was simply bodily dense. He couldn't go near the water without a life preserver. It was his only hope.

Funnily, this was at the maritime academy. This guy was planning to spend a chunk of his life on ocean going vessels. I've known several sailors who couldn't swim, but he is the only one I have known who couldn't even float.

Indeed. The german 88 was perhaps the best gun of WWII.

Actually the British 3.7 inch AA gun was a better one, but the Brits, being somewhat slow to catch onto things (as always) kept it at dviisional level and used it as an AA gun only. It could have been used as field artillery or for direct fire. One should think they'd learn from what they saw the Germans doing, but no, not the British.

Reminds one of their exoerience in the trenches of the first WW. They had footrot up the ying-yang among their soldiers while the Gremans had nearly none. It wasn't a significant factor at all. Why? Because the Germans had rubber boots, like Wellies, for their troops. The Brits insisted on leather boots because rubber cannot be shined up with spit and polish. And British soldiers have to have smartly polished boots. Even when they are dead.

Trouble is that when people talk of 2D they insantly think of Sex. What they should think of is Family. If they did that they'd have things in a better perspective on it. Also on the time-span that the dynamic should encompass.

Two people fucking does not make a Second Dynamic. It only makes two first dynamics fucking.

There is no room really for a data series, ideal scenes or uncommon sense.

Unless, I misenterpreted the comments.

It's just too simple for all that. Love and true feelings.
They are either there or they are not.

Many opinions on 2D are not grounded in common sense. Read common sense as rationality. Actual common sense on 2D is uncommon.

Sex can be nice, but it normally is secondary for sure. Aesthetics, bonding of souls and some other things is what makes it really, really amazing.

P.S. Also, based on my observations/experience, once in a while two beings can enjoy sex/each other. Period. No significances, no ramifications, just plain love.

Usually rare and very brief, but true and beautiful.

This is sad. :bigcry:

It was just plum pitiful at the time but it was a gift. I was able to spend time alone, gather myself and, with a lot of support from my kids and friends, focus on my rehab. I am very happy with my life as it is now and, like I have said before, don’t wish that it would have turned out differently.

Face:)

Sure they can, and there's nothing wrong with it. I'm just saying that it is not the Second Dynamic.
