Most cities have some signature annual event, celebrating a unique aspect of their local culture. While New Orleans’s Mardi Gras is a massive, multi-day festivals, most are more on the scale of Binghamton, New York’s Spiedie Fest, which celebrates a regional marinated meat. Like Castroville, California’s Artichoke Festival or Pella, Iowa’s Tulip Time Festival, most are subdued harvest or historical celebrations.

Then there’s Boulder, Colorado’s annual Halloween Naked Pumpkin Run.

Over the last 10 years, Naked Pumpkin grew to involve hundreds of folks, clad only in running shoes and hollowed-out pumpkins over their heads, sprinting through the brisk downtown Boulder night. The event, which usually begins around 11pm, draws thousands of cheering spectators each year. Halloween in Boulder is often chilly, as in 2002, when the naked pumpkins had to trudge through three feet of snow. Naked Pumpkin follows in the tradition of polar bear swims, as runners struggle to endure full body reception of sub-freezing tactile stimuli. Seattle, Portland, and a host of smaller cities, mostly in the West, have followed suit with Naked Pumpkin Runs of their own, just as cities around the world emulate New Orleans’s Mardi Gras.

Announcement of a new party

I told Candy this morning that we are over 181,000 in hits and will soon hit 200,000 and Candy insisted we have a party to celebrate 200,000 in two to three weeks.

I am going to host it at my house in the Fullerton area of Orange County. We will have food, and non alcoholic drinks. I have a pool and a jacuzzi and we have a hillside view looking North with a view of well over 180 degrees. Any Apollo '73 members are welcome to attend plus we will Edey and all her friends from Ginger's Wellness Center and the Unity Universalist Church plus her Kangen water friends and I will also invite the Todhunters. Johnny, TMT, will be there and Candy will co host with me.

I got ex wife Evy's okay to hold this event and she will attend with her new boyfriend Robert.

You talk about a party, this will be the blow out of blow outs, something to remember. I will be mailing out the particulars over the next week or so.

What I do not understand is why, oh, why does a majority of Jews consistently vote Democrat?

I was working a job before the last presidential election. The lady, a NYC Jew and school teacher, was adamant about voting for Obama. She felt money to schools and care for school children who were not properly fed were paramount issues.

In conversation I attempted to let her know that no one knows who Obama is based on his voting record. Yet, she was convinced he remained the best candidate, I suspect, because he is registered as a Democrat.

I wonder, how's the anti-zionist, current POTUS serving you now? :omg:

Will you be voting for him again?

Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds

Even the Amazon reviews were worth the price of admission.

all my life, I have gone to auctions. Auctions of cattle, horses, property, estate sales, business inventories, etc.

Auctions are the crowd mentality. Feast or Famine. There are auctions where the buyers will bid a used item up over its new replacement price. The fever pitch of bidders just wanting to win is interesting to see.

Two examples from my auction going.

A year or two ago went to an auction of large set of foreclosed properties in Northern California. It was run by REDC. I saw a San Jose, CA. condo, that we had sold a few years earlier (our buyer had lost it in foreclosure) sell, in this auction, for more than we had sold it to the foreclosed buyer.

Around 1972, at a auto parts dealership closing auction, I bought a whole bunch of Porsche spark plugs for $125 for the lot. I drove five miles, and sold them on the spot to a Porsche repair shop for $250. Both the repair shop and I made out like bandits.

In any auction, you have to know what you're bidding on. If the buyers are in a frenzy, it is best to not bid.

Yes . . . .

the book" (for those of you, who may have lost track)
Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds

That book is the book that tipped Alan W off to the existence of the phenomena of "cults and cultures" . . . . the fact that folks behave as though a "mob of one."

That is, folks behave based on parameters of the "mob" or cult/culture they are a part of and influenced by.

Up in the very top of the scales of existence, Alan called the "Gold Zone," (above mastery) there is the Level of Existence of "Influencing" . . . . you as a Godly sovereign Being can and do influence all about you. However, at a human level what is observed is the negative, lower level reciprocal of it as "Influenced."

At the lower level the person's choice or volition is limited and the person is simply influenced and determined by the "forces" about them. :duh:

Love

I think this might have been posted before? But I just got this in an email, and I thought it so charming, it is worth a review . . .

WHAT IS LOVE?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby - age 7

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate," Nikka - age 6

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody . You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." Elaine-age 5
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Brad Pitt." Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." Karen - age 7

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry"

Another good point!

Excellent point Ted. Obama is very pro Palastinian, against Israel in every dispute, every skirmish. This is a trait of the far left in general. Yet, the majority of Jews continue to be politically of the left and vote Democrat.

The Jewish people have proven to be much smarter than average and to be survivors, constantly surviving tryant after tryrant. Yet, in 21st century politics, they are as moths flying into a light bulb. I don't get it.

There are two factors working, many Jews are secular Jews only and do not practice the religion (such as myself) while the left wing leaders create a diversion by saying that they are against only Zionism and not the Jewish people or religion. This is really deception. In all the countries of the world there is only one tiny country where the state religion is Judaism. If this country is pushed into the sea, the Jews would have to return to being nomads who wander the Earth looking for countries who will take them in, tolerate them and give them a measure of security. Nearly two thousand years of that has proven that that doesn't work. Its just a matter of time before the next Inquisition, the next Pogrom or the next Hitler will arise. Achmadinajab is already in place in Iran as the next Hitler.

BLACKS - A RELATED ISSUE
The Black citizens of the USA vote as one extremely large boting block. They constitute 10 or 12 percent of all voters and vote 90% for the far left. The far left is actually demeaning them and degrading them saying that they need subsidies and government help to make it and achieve the "American Dream" There was a time when this was true but that time has past. The playing field is not perfectly level yet but it is level enough now for able Blacks to suceed without race based preferences and hand outs in America.

The Left are giving the Blacks free fish to eat while the Right want to teach them to fish, knowing full well that they are every bit as able in every way as people of other races. Despite this, Black people taken as a group perceive the Left as their allies and the Right as being antagonistic to them when actually the true situation is exactly the opposite. The Black vote is such a large block that when it votes 90% for one party, that party will win many elections. Without the Black vote, the Republican party would win virtually every national election. The Black voting block does not see this and actually votes for the viewpoint which keeps them back as less able people needing a helping hand, rather than the viewpoint which promotes them as equals and wants society to be color blind. Go Figure!

Nicolle Bradbury bought this house seven years ago for $75,000, a major step up from the trailer she had been living in with her family. But she lost her job and the $474 monthly mortgage payment became difficult, then impossible.

It should have been a routine foreclosure, with Mrs. Bradbury joining the anonymous millions quietly dispossessed since the recession began. But she was savvy enough to contact a nonprofit group, Pine Tree Legal Assistance, where for once in her 38 years, she caught a break.

This woman should never have been issued a mortgage in the first place. The side effect of massive numbers of people not only defaulting on their mortgage, but being unable to be foreclosed on, will likely result in a further collapse of the banking system, and taxpayers being stuck with more trillions of dollars worth of bailouts.

Here's another interesting article:

Lawmaker Accused of Fannie Mae Conflict of Interest

WASHINGTON — Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.

So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae
executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions.

Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie.

Both Frank and Moses assured the Wall Street Journal in 1992 that they took pains to avoid any conflicts of interest. Critics, however, remain skeptical.

"It’s absolutely a conflict," said Dan Gainor, vice president of the Business & Media Institute. "He was voting on Fannie Mae at a time when he was involved with a Fannie Mae executive. How is that not germane?

"If this had been his ex-wife and he was Republican, I would bet every penny I have - or at least what’s not in the stock market - that this would be considered germane," added Gainor, a T. Boone Pickens Fellow. "But everybody wants to avoid it because he’s gay. It’s the quintessential double standard."

A top GOP House aide agreed.

"C’mon, he writes housing and banking laws and his boyfriend is a top exec at a firm that stands to gain from those laws?" the aide told FOX News. "No media ever takes note? Imagine what would happen if Frank’s political affiliation was R instead of D? Imagine what the media would say if [GOP former] Chairman [Mike] Oxley’s wife or [GOP presidential nominee John] McCain’s wife was a top exec at Fannie for a decade while they wrote the nation’s housing and banking laws."

Frank’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Frank met Moses in 1987, the same year he became the first openly gay member of Congress.

"I am the only member of the congressional gay spouse caucus," Moses wrote in the Washington Post in 1991. "On Capitol Hill, Barney always introduces me as his lover."

The two lived together in a Washington home until they broke up in 1998, a few months after Moses ended his seven-year tenure at Fannie Mae, where he was the assistant director of product initiatives. According to National Mortgage News, Moses "helped develop many of Fannie Mae’s affordable housing and home improvement lending programs."

Critics say such programs led to the mortgage meltdown that prompted last month’s government takeover of Fannie Mae and its financial cousin, Freddie Mac. The giant firms are blamed for spreading bad mortgages throughout the private financial sector.

Although Frank now blames Republicans for the failure of Fannie and Freddie, he spent years blocking GOP lawmakers from imposing tougher regulations on the mortgage giants. In 1991, the year Moses was hired by Fannie, the Boston Globe reported that Frank pushed the agency to loosen regulations on mortgages for two- and three-family homes, even though they were defaulting at twice and five times the rate of single homes, respectively.

Three years later, President Clinton’s Department of Housing and Urban Development tried to impose a new regulation on Fannie, but was thwarted by Frank. Clinton now blames such Democrats for planting the seeds of today’s economic crisis.

"I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was president, to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac," Clinton said recently.

You assume that, just because somebody is ethnically Jewish, that they primarily identify with the Jewish religion and Israel. This may be so for Orthodox Jews, much less for Reform and "secular" Jews.

In a Washington Post article from a few years back, a survey noted that Orthodox Jews are going Republican. Since Orthodox families have a much higher birthrate, this is going to have a large demographic effect on Jewish voting patterns over the next decade as more Orthodox kids come to voting age.

Short answer: many people who are ethnically Jewish identify more with the Left than with Judaism.

Edey's big birthday bash - an event to remember

This was the all time best party I ever went to. Twenty five people showed up at a vegetarian restaurant in Fountain Valley in Orange County. Purple Haze (Candy Swanson) had called me out of the blue yesterday morning and I invited her to the party and she eagerly accepted. She already posted about the party on Facebook.

When I arrived, Johnny was already there, sitting next to Edey, who was all dolled up and wearing a very nice black evening party dress and the two were talking. Candy hit traffic from L.A. and was about a half hour late. Edey had friends there from her 12 year old friendship with a guy name Freddie from Fullerton. About 6 of the attendees were from that group, 2 were from her Kangen water business and the rest were the psychic people from Giner's Gardens, including Ginger herself and her daughter. The was great intermixing between the two groups and my group of 3 ex Scientologists. I had alread met virtually all of the people from my 3 months now of being Edey's pal.

The first late arrival was Lorinda, a tall, 5'10" very beautiful woman who is younger, in her late 40's and joined Edey in my opinion as the two most beautiful looking women at the function. Johnny perked up when Lorinda entered and she sat to my right while Johnny was on my left. Johnny wanted to sit next to the beautiful woman, so I swapped seats with her.

Edey told me she was bringing this guy who she is just starting to date. She knows that I have a crush on her and wanted to be her boyfriend but she told me that she had no chemistry with me as a boyfriend but I was her best friend otherwise or perhaps tied for first with her girl friend Kadriya.

Edey told me the night before that she would understand it if I did not wish to attend the party to see her with a new boyfriend. I told her, hell no, I am not going to let that stop me from coming. When I told her that, then she sheepishly asked if I would use my mind reading abilities to try and pick up this guys thoughts and intentions as to her being his girlfriend. I said sure, I would try and do that but made her no guarantees that I would be able to read his mind. On some people I can and some I can't. She said that if he had a headache or something, maybe you could give one of your neck massages and then place your hands on his head and read his thoughts better. I said, okay to that as well.

Since chemistry was important to her, I was expecting a very cool and manly guy, quite macho and suave and a realy exceptionally good looking guy. I couldn't believe it but the boy friend looked very similar to this old time comedian from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

gobel2-sized.jpg

That my friends is George Gobel! There is a tremendous resemblance between this man and George but this man has a receeding hairline and is overweight. He and I are about the exact same size, 5'11" and around 240 pounds. Also, he is 61 and I am 70 but it looks just the opposite, I look no more than 60 and he looks at least 70. I asked myself what is so special about this man's chemistry?

Candy, who is now elevated to one of my very best and closest friends, due to recent events which have taken place, was sitting next to me on my left and Kevin, the boyfriend, was directly on her left. Edey was floating around the room a lot, speaking to all her guests and Candy engaged Kevin in some lively and spirited conversation. I joined in on several of their conversations while Johnny was making time with the beautiful Lorinda.

Kevin is a nice guy. He is intelligent and isknowledgeable on a lot of topics. He went to Germany in 1971 and I went in 1967 and again last year so we compared notes on our early German trips. There is nothing wrong with the man, I would have him for a friend but there is no comparison as to who is better looking. I am about a 7.5 and if I really make an effort and get fixed up, I fancy myself to be an 8.0. Kevin is maybe a 6 or a 6.5. He has less panache or charisma than I do. I do not see where he has chemistry with Edey and I don't. I don't get it! Also, Kevin almost never looked at Edey and they barely ever touched. I was always watching Edey through the corners of my eyes. I can't take my eyes off of her for long. Obviously, I feel I am better suited to her as a 2D spiritually and physically. Mentally, we are approximately equal. I give sessions to Edey and all of her friends on demand where Kevin has no healing or physic powers which he can offer to help her or her group. If I thought he had more to offer her than me or that he could make her happier, I would gladly bow out but I feel just the opposite. I believe it was preordained that Candy just happened to call me yesterday morning and that I just happened to invite her to the party and she just happened to sit next to Kevin and talk to him all night and that she is a licensed Psychologist and Marriage and Pre Marriage counselor and a Class 8 auditor. Candy already told me over the phone her opinion and I want to be coached by Candy on how to approach this matter with Edey. I am scared that if I do it on my own, I will blow it while if Candy advises me, I will succeed.

If one has a must have on something and they are very interior into the situation, it is very likely that they will say all the wrong things and destroy their chances of success. I am fortunate to have Candy, knowing the entire scene and being their last night and having watched all of us talking and interacting. I am going to go with what Candy advises me and let her manage me every step of the way. This is very important to me, a big fork in the road of life. I don't want to be Mr. Nice Guy and be a good sport and a good loser. No, not this time - it is too important, losing this game is not an option. In the meantime, I feel a need to help Johnny out. He is tired of living alone, he needs a strong female terminal and a strong male terminal. He has invited me to his house in the near future. I fixed him up with Edey and they had a great date but romance did not come out of it but only friendship. Now I have introduced him to Lorinda and I plan to keep helping him in any way I can.

At 9:00 pm they had dancing in the back room with a lot of strobe lights and special lighting effect. Candy insisted that we dance. I am not a good dancer but I tried. Johnny is an excellent dancer as is Lorinda and Edey, Candy just went crazy shaking her head wildly and making all kinds of gyrations and moves. Kevin was fairly decent, somewhat better than me at dancing. I danced with Edey and Lorinda, Johnny danced mainly with Lorinda, and a wee bit with Edey nd Candy and Kevin danced with Candy and Edey. We danced for maybe 30-40 mnutes and then we wanted to go over to Ginger's Gardens.

Some went home and most went to Ginger's Gardens including Johnny. Candy stayed behind and said she was leaving. An hour later, Candy the wild woman, told me the chef had asked her to dance and so instead of leaving she danced with him for another hour. She started to tell me her opinion of Kevin and Edey as a couple but they were in the same room as me at Ginger's so I could not respond. In short, she said that in her opinion, and she does work as a pre marriage counselor, they are not compatible with each other and she would recommend to them that they not pursue a deeply comitted relationship. I am supposed to talk it over with Candy perhaps later today if she has time. Just now Edey called me and asked me what I thought of Kevin. I told her I did not want to tell her over the phone but would tell her tonight when I see her on this class we are taking together.

Candy, the dynamo, suggested we have another big party ASAP and do it at my house. The pretext would be to celebrate this thread hitting 200,000 views. That was Candy's idea and not mine. I had to sell this idea to my ex wife, Evy and I was successful so we are going to have the party in two weeks. Evy and her boyfriend Roberto will also be attending and I will invite the whole Todhunter clan, as well. I plan on inviting Lynn Fountain Campbell and several other Exes who I like a lot, even Blue Spirit and his wife although I do not know if Blue will come. Any one of you who want to come, send me a private email and I will give you all the particulars.
