No, I was never the Switchboard operator at CC. I was on Staff there, briefly, as NSO (non-Sea Org) as an Auditor, and I helped supervise JT... back in the day on 8th street.

Hopefully we can talk soon, on the phone. I hate typing, thus won't answer all of your post. Congratulations on being a Mom :)

Looking at his earlier writings, and particularly what was revealed in his pre-1950 Admissions ("All men are your slaves"), LRH was always pretty bad. What changed was a lessening of any need to maintain his social persona. He didn't get worse, he just dropped the mask.

To those who get bent out of shape over slavery in the US, to keep things in perspective, as recently as the 1950's, Saudi Arabia had an estimated 450,000 slaves, 20% of the population, and slavery still exists in parts of the world. It was the West who was active in eliminating slavery in much of the world.

More on Slavery: I abhor the removal of Thomas Jefferson's name for buildings and schools in the Black community. The reason cited was that he owned slaves. The "think" or the lack thereof is that since he owned slaves himself he must be evil. In actual fact, he was born into a well to do slave owning family at a time and place where the owning of slaves was the law and was common practice. He eventually saw the wrongness of this institutioin and then his writings and the documents which he helped to create ultimately led to the abolishment of slavery in his country within the span of one lifetime.

Small minded, short sighted people nevertheless take his name off of schools and public buildings. At least if they renamed the school after someone inspirational such as Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson or Mohammed Ali, it would make some sense but who do these schools usually get named for? It is usually a two bit phoney politician such as L.A. Councilwoman Maxine Waters or some Black official on the L.A. County Board of Directors.

:D I just got interrupted from my lovely rant and told someone, who was worrying so deeply about "living in the moment" that we all aim for it, but really, only saints arrive. Ghandi was in that Zone, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa and Father Damian, for example.

I said, we are aiming for the eternal moment, where time stops and you just BE, DO, & HAVE effortlessly. Don't worry about being in the moment, dear. Just BE HERE NOW.

I think my "job" is saving my life. Coming from boredom, I'm now appreciating both the challenges and sanity that I do create about me; meeting and greeting all souls I come in touch with during each morning's trip to the local Coffee Bean, to the evening's outdoor sit-around-and-chew-the-fat, with gays and handsome dudes and celebrities mixed in with the wannabes in the spot now nicknamed: SANDYLAND.

I read in a Tory biogrpaphy that Tory worked briefly at CCLA as non Sea Org staff. With new staff, they were normally placed in HCO Division I as an HCO Expediter and filled in doing various low level jobs around the Org. I am sure that I read that Tory served a short period of a week or two as switchboard operator as part of her stint as an HCO Expeditor. One reason that I am so sure is that I joined the Sea Org myself in October of 1971 and was made an HCO Expeditor. Part of my duties were to serve as switchboard operator for about one week. I was on the graveyard shift, late at night. When I read Tory's story, it seemed to me that we both were switchboard operators at about the same time. I thought perhaps she worked the day shift and I worked graveyard. I wrote her a reply to her story pointing this out to her. That is why I am so certain that this happened.

She was never officially appointed to the post of switchboard operator but did do that functiion for at least one week as per my recollection from reading her story, probably sometime in mid 2008. Same with me as a new Sea Org member, I started with a week or two on the switch board (I'm pretty sure it was just one week) and then I spent two more weeks in the galley, washing dishes and cleaning pots and pans and the oven - all done as an HCO Expeditor.

It was while cleaning up the lunch dishes in the galley that I had my first encounter with Candy. She was auditing Karen Black in a room adjoining the galley and came out at session break with Karen and asked me if I would put on some hot tea and bring her and Karen a tea service. I did so and this happened several days in a row, probably 3 days. After that, I was removed from being an HCO Expeditor and went on full time training as CCLA's first Dianetic Interne. Candy and Karen made quite a pair, I remember it well, Candy wore a white skirt which was about 1" above the knee and a blouse. I believe Karen wore a skirt as well and her cloths were usually dark colors. There was a lot of chuckling and giggling as the two of them talked and sipped their tea and they were quite animated. Who could ever foresee that I would meet Candy again some 38 years later on the internet? Who could foresee the Internet? Who could foresee that Candy and I would someday become good friends?

Life moves in strange ways.....

Yep, so glad you were able to experience that concert. Its a lot more fun to watch a violinist such as Anne-Sopie Mutter play than someone like Heifitz, no offense to the great Heifitz, but itis that beautiful woman button of mine.

Mozart wrote 4 of his output of 5 violin concertos all in a several month span in the year 1775. They were written primarily as pieces for him to practice playing the violin. He pretty much was raised playing the "piano", although the piano of his youth was a small wooden box with far less dynamics than today's pianos. The need arose for him to improve his violin technique so he wrote the 5 violin concertos, probably each stressing a different technical problem having to do with mastering the art of violin playing.

It was during 1775 that Franz Gerl came to study musical composition with Mozart's father Leopold. Gerl was 12 years old at the time and stayed at the Mozart home in Salzburg for several months studying under Leopold. Meanwhile, the 19 year old Mozart was home that year, back from his many travels in Italy and other parts of Europe. To Mozart, the 12 year Gerl was a "pain in the ass" and he did not pay him much mind. Gerl tried playing some practical jokes around the house to get Mozart to notice him. One practical joke backfired and some valuable family possession such as a snuff box or something got damaged.

It was in 1973 while running Expanded Dianetics that I ran incidents where I was living at the Mozart's home as a 12 year old. I did not know if it was true or dub in but about 1999 I was reading Grove's Musical dictionary in the library and they had an article on Franz Gerl and it stated that Gerl lived in the Mozart home as a twelve year old, studying composition with Leopold.

That was the key that started me believing that I was Gerl. Gerl became a bass singer in the Shikaneder troupe which put on operettas, light operas and the equivalent to musical comedies called "Singspiel". Shikaneder and Gerl both had known Mozart from his Salzburg days and reconnected with him in Vienna. Gerl had a very close friend in Schacht, the tenor singer in the Shikaneder troupe and Gerl and Schacht were both very close friends with Mozart from 1787 to his very untimely death at age 35 in 1791.

I had such a great time during that period, mainly just a series of pleasure moments, the entire 4 to 5 years, that I became fixated on that period in history. Gerl was a newlywed with his young wife Barbara, who also sang in Shikaneder's troupe. The members of the troupe all lived together in lodgings right behind the Theater and life was a series of rehearsals, cast parties, performances and just having a good time. We liked to discuss the American Revolution and wanted similar freedoms for our beloved Austria!

We were very close friends with Mozart and his wife Constance. He was really a very decent person, his mind was always on his music but if he were asked a question or asked for some advice, he would give you his full attention and speak from his heart with the utmost of sincerity. He held nothing back when it came to helping his friends. The thing is that he usually liked to make a joke about things and not be serious, but if pressed he could quickly become very serious.

Man makes ridiculously complicated chart to find out who owns his mortgage

We all know the mortgage securitization process is complicated.

But just how complicated? The chart below from Zero Hedge shows the convoluted journey a mortgage takes as it morphs into a security.
Dan Edstrom, of DTC Systems, who performs securitization audits, spent a year putting together a diagram that traces the path of his own house's mortgage. "Just When You Thought You Knew Something About Mortgage Securitizations," says Zero Hedge, you are presented with this almost hilariously complicated chart.

The controversy over allegedly shoddy paperwork has raised doubts about the legitimacy of foreclosures nationwide (a crisis illustrated here and here), eliciting lawsuits from homeowners and investors alike.

The Congressional Oversight Panel, a bailout watchdog, released a statement Tuesday that says the scandal over alleged "robo-signers," foreclosure processors who approve documents without reading them, "may have concealed much deeper problems" in the mortgage industry, HuffPost's Shahien Nasiripour reports.

Regulators will have their hands full.

My dinner with Joan

RECONNECTING WITH SOMEONE YOU KNEW WELL OVER 30 YEARS AGO
Since we first met up in Glendale with Johnny, I had seen Joan 4 times, always in a group so she and I met one on one on Tuesday, November 16th.

I wanted to bring her up to date on everything I am doing and wanted to hear about her life in these intervening decades. It is not as easy as I thought to get caught up on the missing time gap where we know nothing about one anothers activities. I started first.

I picked the period which led to our break up in 1985. She left C of S and I stayed in. By 1985, we were not seeing much of each other anyway, and when I heard she was out of the "church", I simply never called her anymore.

I apologized for that but she said that no apology was needed and she stressed that each person had to do what they thought was right in such a situation. She left because two of her best friends had left the Church and she still wanted to stay in communication with them. C of S told her that if she stayed connected with them, she would be declared.

BRILLIANCE AND CLEAR THINKING
Joan said that she saw right away that if she had to make a decision and either disconnect from her two best friends or desconnect from her religion, then her religion could not possibly really be her religion. Any religion which demanded her to drop her best friends simply because they ceased being members was not the correct religion for her. THE BRILLIANT SIMPLICITY OF THIS REASONING DAZZLED ME. Of course, she was correct and had made the correct choice! Women, are often accused of being emotional and not analytical and yet Joan showed analytical brilliance when she chose to leave C of S!

As a 24 year old young woman when I started dating her, I had never known that she was brilliant and clear thinking in this manner. This is a new side to her which has just been revealed to me and I was deeply impressed!

Anyway, to keep this short, we saw that the love of the arts in general and music in particular was still huge in both of us. We talked of our kids, now grown up, hers 25 and 32 and mine 23 and 28. Here, as in music, we shared common ground. In religion as well, we share common ground.

In leaving the Music Center, we studied the handbill listing the remaining operas to be put on this season and selected Verdi's Rigoletto to go see together next month. We do both want to continue seeing each other as friends. The bottom line is that we have a lot of catching up to do in order to continue our friendship. The good news is that we still have major areas in which we are compatible. The goal of our dating in the 70's was possible marriage and the raising of a family and that goal was already achieved for each of us with different partners.

The new goal, as far as I can see, is to reconnect as close friends and learn more about one another and enjoy what we now have in common. The love of music alone is a huge common interest. I am very lucky to have reconnected with such a fine and beautiful woman. I am confident that our old friendship will continue to be renewed and in its new form will be beneficial to both of us.
