What I find ironic is that the slaggers and degraders have had exactly the effect on this board that the person they slag the most - LRH - predicted that such people would always have on an area where they were let loose. What gowes arouns comes around.

I would suggest that a facility be installed into the software on this board so that the guy who starts a thread - its "host" - be allowed to monitor that particular thread and delete any post he considers unwanted, and also to block any person he wants to from posting on his thread. This way the slaggers can have their free speech on their own threads - which the rest of us can ignore, and the decent threads can remain up tone.

If you see some statement you wish to reply to outside of your threads a "host" member could then block/delete YOUR statement. Who actually owns a thread?

Ah, yes. Let us not forget that ESMB is a message board. If one came looking to post messages concerning scientology, that being found the right place.

If one came expecting rational discourse or other communication, this is the wrong place.

Yes. I always liked the idea of letting the rock-slammers audit the rock-slammers.

I never stated that ESMB is the "wrong place for rational discourse or other communication". I disagreed with the pretense of a member starting a thread, having block/delete *host* powers in the interest of thread purity. I don't agree with Leon's idea and stated why. Don't you find it ironic that "rational discourse" needs such censorship? So, in the interests of thread purity and censorship, to satisfy a control freak (your self admitted words), my post must now be deleted in the spirit of "rational discourse"? The logic of censorship to create open discussion fails me.

Such a facility exists - its called YOUR OWN message board. If you can't stand ESMB and prefer hiding out in your own little ghetto, you might want to consider such an endeavour. Interesting also that the totalitarian control on freedom of speech as per your suggestion is exactly what L Ron Hubbard sought to bring about. Happily, he failed miserably, and died writhing in insanity. Unhappily, some of us have to clean up the mess.
