FoTi - Yes, Ron Paul is not mainstream. He is sage in economics and finance and offers fresh perspectives in those areas and several other areas but his views on world affairs are such that I could never vote for him.

I DON'T WANT IRAN TO POSSESS NUCLEAR WEAPONS! I believe that Iran will not hesitate to use such weapons against Israel as well as sell them to terrorists to be brought into the United States to be detonated.

You talk about instability! Israel is not going to allow Iran to build Nukes. If it is certain that they are on the verge of this, Israel will attempt to attack them and not out their nuclear capacity. If any country can do this, Israel has the capability. Then you may be talking about WWIII, a potential nuclear confrontation.

No thank you! Anyone who justifies Iran obtaining nuclear weapons and feel that it is "unfair" for us to block them is not someone who I would vote for.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973 - YOU MENTION TWO KEY POINTS!!

I have always thought there was some kind of game implant of making us fight each other or play king of the hill that was very vicious and that it was preparatory for this universe. There have been too many heartbreaks in my life where someone stabbed me in the back just when I was the most benevolent and expanded. People who reach ascension states on cocaine etc always trigger this viscious charge. Each time they will do you in as a defense against you doing them in first because they are positive its the only game in town. My life would have been so different without this crap dramatized to the hilt within the 80s and 90s in coke saturated Fla.

You just know they're comin to get ya whenever you see the paranoia kicking in....no matter how good of a freind you've been.

Goodfellas. He knows he will never come back from Florida alive when his 'buddy' Jimmy sends him on his erand.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOaV06ruMqg&feature=player_detailpage

I believe there has been a "game implant" here on Earth. For example, the book, "The God's of Eden" lays out a plausible theory of why this is so and how it came about. As far as looking "before this universe", I don't have much reality on picking up anything from that area. Sometimes, in dreams, I believe I am there. It is always an exstatic experience, a feeling of total freedom and exuberance.

Hats, haven't you found a group here on ESMB where you can rest assured that you will not be betrayed and attacked? You have been good for ESMB with your creative, extremely astute and deep looking posts and those of us who post here have been good for you. At least that is the way it seems to me, correct me if I'm wrong.

Purple Haze, Carmelo, Roger, Emma, myself......I could probably name 50 people off the top of my head here on ESMB who would never turn on you.

I operate on the op-term of "commin to get ya", My aberation seems to be too kind and too open. If I did something to harm someone intentionally, my entire "raison d' etre" would be violated and I would probably quickly die. This is not all good, it is definitely overdone. ESMB has helped me to reign it in a bit.

Anyway, at least here on ESMB, you can relax, you are definitely amongst friends.

Lakey, you are hitting from left field. You are too normal and around very normal people. I've stated where I am coming from with this. I am boiling off a bit of triggered emotions regarding living among the very damaged.... which is the result of where I have lived and my occupations. Never a thought referring to this board.

Replying to the thread about LRH and his destroying good people right when they are becoming huge, clever and powerful is what I am doing. I think that somewhere there had to be an I win YOU lose fanatacism. Have for me and NOT for you. I just see it too much. Even amongst siblings. The bullistic psychic tantrums over another's coming into power and their ability to wield a hand of cards in the game too. Just sayin. The charge is palpable when ignited. Deadly even. Who can really say where it comes from.

As ACW had said in one of his articles.."The spiritual universes of mankind have been at war!"

It is a done. Over. Finished. Gone on too long. Stupid. Nasty. Ridiculous activity. What was it? IT WAS WAR!! THE SPIRITUAL UNIVERSES OF MANKIND WERE AT WAR!

I never thought Obama was a good speaker. I never thought he was charming. I did think he is slimy like a snake. (But that dishonors snakes, as understand they are NOT slimy.)

Limbaugh had it right: "I hope he fails." Unfortunately, Obama succeeded. Big time. Liberals can carp on me as long as they like, while our "Rome" burns. It is well on its way and no fire department is coming to stop the conflagration. Instead all "news" organizations are throwing road blocks to the fire trucks--any and all conservatives.

Hi Winston, nice to have you contributing to this political discussion! So, besides your love for classical music, Brahams etc., we share a similar political persuasion .

BTW I just completed an 8 week course at UCLA extension. An old high school friend of mine was going and the course was right up my alley, it was called, "Mozart and Beethoven". I pretty much know everything about Mozart but I did pick up 4 bits of information that I did not know. On Beethoven, I did not know that much. Delving deeper into his life and music was quite enriching. Those two composers, only 14 years apart in age, MAY have met briefly in April of 1787 but no one knows for sure.

The 17 year old Beethoven came to Vienna specifically to study with Mozart. then 31. Beethoven's mother took ill about 2 weeks after he arrived and his father summoned him home immediately. 4 years later, Beethoven planned a trip to Vienna again to study with Mozart for 1792. Again, illness thwarted the meeting. Mozart suddenly took ill and died at age 35 in December, 1791 so when Beethoven arrived his plans to study with Mozart could not be realized. My keen awareness from having a life there at the time says to me that they did meet but it was a minor event for both men. Mozart heard Beethoven play the piano and improvise a bit and was greatly impressed but essentially forgot about it the next day. Beethoven never mentioned the incident so no one knows if the event actually took place.

It was not meant to be. What a shame! Both men would have profitted greatly from working with one another. The face of classical music would have been greatly altered if such a liason had taken place.

Well, shit, FoTi, I wish someone had researched Oblahblah. This clip is right down the alley I referred to; dig up crap about any and all conservatives, bury them before they even start a campaign. You swallowed it whole.

The GOP spent over half a billion dollars on the 2008 campaign. Are you saying they were too incompetent to spend a few thousand dollars of that half a billion researching Oblahblah? How could you possible vote for people that stupid?

Yes they were stupid, especially that jackass John McCain. You can see they were stupid by what we are living through. Don't tell me Oblahblah didn't raise a helluva lot of cash too, what about $800 mil or more? And yes, some brave souls did expose Oblahblah, but were drowned out by cries of "Messiah" by the press. Don't give me that crap.

Well thank you. Uh, I did know this stuff, being a musician and all. What I recently learned about Beethoven is that he did not die from syphallis as originially thought. Around 2002 archeologists dug up his bones and tested tham, found they were riddled with arsenic. Seems that bad stuff was ingested somehow over many years. I think Mozart's untimely death was a bigger blow to music than just about any other event though. For instance, he wrote no cello sonatas or concertos! (But his late quartets prominently feature cello because of his association with the King of Prussia, a cellist.)

Anyhoo, I have been playing a lot of cello recently. Quartets and other chamber music, and now preparing an orchestra audition. Need my head examined.

Winston,

Your comment regards the press is apt. My analysis is that, apart from McCain's campaign and the goof of the Republicans pulling in the bimbo as a VP candidate, the press glorified and sung the song that won Obama the election.

They do it subtle ways. It's all done with the positioning of various notions in the minds of the electorate regarding a candidate.

Just recall the way the media spoke of each of the candidates. Look at how the media positioned each, either negatively or positively.

And it's also part of the stupid cult of "personality" that infects US politics. It is not a rational process here but one of reaction to images.

And those images are planted (or implanted) by the media.

Interesting post Winston. I was not aware of the story of Beethoven consuming arsenic. Of course that type of thing was not brought up in our class.

WHAT ABOUT CLONING? If it is possible to dig up Beethoven's bones, has anyone considered trying to get a DNA sample for possible cloning? Is this even possible? I know that an effort was made to dig up the grave of Leopold Mozart, Mozart's father in Salzburg. What they found in the grave was surprising. I believe that Leopold's remains were there along with one of Nanerl's (Mozart's sister) babies which died shortly after death.

NEW FRENCH MOVIE, "MOZART'S SISTER" IS BEING RELEASED AUG 19TH! A French movie, Mozart's sister is being released in foreign and art type theaters this Friday. I read the reviews and it sounds very interesting.

How far we have come since the 18th century! The movie concerns the early part of the lives of the two Mozart children. Nanerl was 5 years older and was the equal of her famous brother as a pianist. It is also stated that Nanerl could play the cello and also composed music.

Leopold Mozart was REALLY OLD SCHOOL! Of course it WAS the 18th century but he wanted her talents to be restricted to only performing on the piano. The movie takes up the whirlwind and lucrative tours of the two siblings and then continues on in her early twenties where it is stated that Leopold forbade her to play the cello and even more importantly forbade her to compose!

Here is an instance where Mark Baker's look at the past is fully warranted, i.e. more restrictions and less opportunites to excel. Nothing which Nanerl composed was ever saved for posterity let alone published. She was forbiden from composing and her father demanded she marry and raise children. How archaic is that? A potential talent as a great classical composer was completely squelched by a woman's father!

Winston, is it possible to view any of your performances or to procure a DVD or just an audio recording of them. I would be very interested to hear your music.

Unlikely they would work together at least re composing. However
the influence they would have on each other is the thing. Imagine
if Mozart had lived to his 3 score and ten and heard Beethovens later work. What might he himself have written then?

Good point Terril! I believe that Beethoven needed guidance and encouragement during his early years as a composer. He tried studying with Haydn but I believe there was too big an age gap there, 38 years, for much to occur between those two. He also studied with Salieri, which seems to have been more productive than with Haydn.

From Mozart's perspective, he took kindly to other gifted composers, the main one being Haydn, a full fledged genius whom Mozart idolized. Other gifted composers who Mozart encountered were Johan Christian Bach, Bach's son whom Mozart hit it off with in England as a young man, Michael Haydn who was head man in the Salzburg orchestra and J.N. Hummel, a musical genius who Mozart took into his home for two years and gave free lessons.

Oddly, in the early 1800's Hummel and Beethoven were considered the two greatest composers for a short period of time. Very soon, Beethoven totally eclipsed Hummel and Hummel became nearly forgetten. In modern times, the works of Hummel had have a rennaisance of sorts. The man was a very gifted composer, near genius but not quite genius. When he is at his best, his stuff is right up there with the best as evidenced by this trumpet concerto, played by, of all people, the Jazz musician, Wynton Marsalis:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6u22A_Xy2E

With Beethoven, Mozart would have had the opportunity to be exposed to something completely new and different. I believe that he would have appreciated the new genre of romantic music which Beethoven pioneered and that Mozart would have produced music in this genre as well. It is almost impossible to know what might have happened

Mozart did of course create music which is romantic.

Symphony 40 is an example.

Then there is his greatest area, the Piano concerto's.

He would have expanded his horizons re musical language.

Both he and Beethoven looked back towards Bach at times.

Finale of symphony 41 and Grosse fugue are the prime examples.

Its generally considered that the two great revolutions in music
in our time were created by Beethoven and Wagner.

One may consider that Mozart was a seed for this.

Would that he lived longer!

Perhaps his greatest work, the Requiem, might be considered the start of the romantic movement.

And he was just a whippersnapper then, with enormous gifts we are gratefull for and whose untimely death is one of the greatest tragedies of humankind.

Yes, well, Beethoven and Mozart did meet in their lifetimes, of course . . . . . Indeed, Mozart had a very high regard for the younger Beethoven.

One of the things that enabled a difference between their piano works was the change in construction of pianos . . . Beethoven was able to benefit form the steel famed piano and also a piano with more than five octaves and a different stringing construct than Mozart had.

Also during this time (I don't have a date) the western musical scale was re-pitched.

If you get ahold of any of the old master violins (the Strads or Guarneris) you'll see the necks have been adjusted to adjust their pitch (the neck length has been changed and a joint between the scroll and the neck of the instrument is visible).

These changes in the musical world facilitated the musical style we associate with Beethoven as compared with what Mozart was able to conceive of with the instruments he had available.

Both are my favorite composers.
