Obviously, he was not interested in standing in solidarity with the people of France against Islamic terror.

Very well stated Enthetan! Those who defend Obama tend to state that his security preparation and the size of them might have presented logistic delays in the staging of the march. This type of argument is just nonsense and obscures the true answer which you stated in your post.

Obama does not feel that any of the terrorists are truly Muslims since they are engaging in activities which true Islam does not believe in. He has also said this directly in interviews.

Assuming his view to be legitimate, the question boils down to a relatively simple question as follows: WHAT DOES A GROUP MEMBER DO IF A CULT FORMED INSIDE HIS GROUP THEN CLAIMS TO SPEAK FOR THE ENTIRE GROUP? The GROUP is the most general case but in the majority of cases, this question applies mostly to a RELIGION or perhaps a POLITICAL PARY.

On occasion, this question comes up every now and then inside of the Christian religion and to a lesser extent in Christianity. In Christianity, the Catholic chruch engaged in the Spanish Inquisition and did exercise a reign of terror against Jews, Muslims and other non Christian peoples. This type of terrorism took place around 500 to 600 years ago. Moving up in time to the 1600's we had the Salem Witch trials where again an organized part of Christianity took part in terror. Moving up later, we have extremist portions of the the Southern Christian Churches carrying out terror against Black people and their supporters in the Southern States of the USA in the Jim Crow era, from about 1865 to 1964.

As for a political party to carry out terror, we need look no farther than to the period of 1933 through 1945 where the German Nazi Party carried out extreme terrorism against the Jewish people as wells as what were termed non Aryan Races such as the Slavic people of Eastern Europe as well as Gypsies. There were also Pogroms against Jews staged on a regular basis throughout Russia when the Tsars were in power. the

In the case of the Christian abuses, Christianity was capable of quite a bit of self correction. Many Christians would denounce the terrorist activities as non Christian and in some cases, correction was either produced inside the Christianity at it's top levels or splinter groups would break away from the main body of the church and would try and reform the main body of the church.

When politics directed state sponsored terrorism as in Nazi Germany and Tsarist Russia, the people of those totalitarian regimes did not have the means to rebel and the terrorist programs of those governments stayed in place into those governments were defeated on the battlefield.

INSIDE ISLAM - So where does this leave Islam? How do peace loving Muslims gain separation from their terrorist wing which is claiming to represent all of the their religion. They have to speak up and assert their independence from the terrorist elements of their religions. One thing for sure is that for a Muslim today to disavow the activities of his terrorist wing, he has to be very brave and must be willing to put his life on the line. Especially if a person is a parent, speaking out against Islamic terrorism has to be looked at very carefully. Certainly, no parent wants to be killed and leave his or her children orphaned.

What President Al-Sisi did last Saturday shows what can be done. Also marching with linked arms along with millions of other people of all backgrounds seems like something which can be done. Some governments can take action as Al-Sisi did in Egypt when he kicked out the Muslin Brotherhood from ruling the country and replaced them with officers of the Egyptian army. WHATEVER OPTIONS THEY HAVE, IT IS UP TO PEACEFUL MUSLIMS TO ASSERT THEMSELVES AND MAKE IT VERY WELL KNOWN THAT THEY DO NOT APPROVE OF TERRORIST ACTS BEING CARRIED OUT IN THEIR NAME BY A SMALL BUT RADICAL GROUP OF Fanatics.

OUTSIDE ISLAM Our primary activity is not to disassociate ourselves from admitting that terrorism exists inside Islam. Burying our heads in the sand in that manner solves nothing for us. We have to be alert to defend ourselves against such terrorism. We have to walk a fine line between being overly aggressive, as the Bush administration appears to have been, but not being naively overly non aggressive as the Obama administration is doing. We need to be firm and resolute in defending free speech and our various other freedoms and our Western way of life.

We should leave it to those inside Islam to reform their own religion so that it will no longer have a violent and extreme terrorist wing. We should aid Muslims when they make moves in this direction as Al-Sisi has done but it up to Islam itself to remove the current terrorist wing from being part of its religion. In summary, our two best actions seem to be to fight terrorism whenever we are attacked by it while at the same time doing everything in our power to head off the attacks and aiding and assisting those Muslims who are making efforts to eliminate Islamic terrorism from their religion.

Looking at the results obtained, all of the levels which I had wins on were on the lower part of the bridge. I am talking about Life Repair, Straightwire, Dianetics, Expanded Dianetics, the Grades 0-IV, Power Processing and the L's. I never thought about it before but each and every one of THESE levels were given by an auditor to a preclear. The levels which I did not recommend others spend time on consist of OT3 through OT7 and Solo NOTs. Funny, but all of those are levels which are audited Solo except for OT 5, audited NOTS. I had never recognized that distinction until now!!
Maybe you just stink as a Solo Auditor. Your certificates are cancelled; report to your nearest AO for a retrain GAT II style.

On solo auditing, an old timer recently told me that Hubbard adopted Solo Auditing because Orgs could not train Auditors quickly enough for every single staff and public to have their own auditor. As was so typical with Hubbard, he was willing to sacrifice quality of service for speed of flow and the resulting income generated by a much faster speed of particle flow.
Solo Auditing is what it is because the Solo Auditor is not being audited; the composite case is. I agree that LRH sacrificed quality in order to get people up the bridge FAST!! but I believe it was because he wanted to create an army of OTs to fight "the enemy" (choose whichever of several definitions of that that you like).

If a person is stuck in a situation where they have no friends or can't find a mate, I have yet to find someone who has figure-figured and came up with a workable solution to their problems.
I've used figure-figure quite successfully myself; although it is but one of many tools and is by itself quite insufficient. In some cases it has allowed me to learn how this world really works and has pointed me in the direction of a complete solution.

Very well stated Enthetan! Those who defend Obama tend to state that his security preparation and the size of them might have presented logistic delays in the staging of the march. This type of argument is just nonsense and obscures the true answer which you stated in your post.

It wasn't just that Obama didn't show. Eric Holder was in Paris that day, and yet didn't participate in the march. If it was too complicated for Obama to come, he could have sent somebody else. Vice President Biden. The Secretary of State. Eric Holder.

Obama chose to send NOBODY to march with the European leaders, not even an intern. THAT sends a message.

Obama does not feel that any of the terrorists are truly Muslims since they are engaging in activities which true Islam does not believe in. He has also said this directly in interviews.

Obama makes statements about "true Islam". The problem he faces is that he knows he's lying, and that the terrorists ARE the "true Muslims". It is the "peace loving moderates" who have drifted away from "true Islam". This is the problem which the moderates face. They know that it is the jihadis who are the "True Muslims", while the moderates are essentially apostates.

Like I said on the Islam thread:

"At that point it just becomes a question of how much do you believe in the doctrine".

It comes down to "Do you believe in the doctrine?", "What parts of the doctrine are central?", and "How much wiggle-room do you have in interpreting the doctrine?"

With Christianity, the ideas that Jesus is the Son of God, was crucified, and rose from the dead are central. The central ideas are what give a reason for accepting what Jesus said about the proper way to behave and live your life. It is possible to believe in Jesus and also think that the Old Testament was a set of parables and need not be taken literally. Thus it is possible to consider oneself a Christian, and not take the Old Testament literally. Catholic doctrine, for example, accepts that the universe is as old as the scientists say it is, rather than having been created in 4004BC, as per Protestant fundamentalist doctrine.

With Islam, the central ideas are that Mohammad was a prophet of God, and that the Quran was sent directly by Allah. Muslims believe the Qur'an was dictated by Allah, through the angel Gabriel, directly to Mohammad. Thus, there is no wiggle-room. Either you believe that the entirety of the Quran is direct from God, or the whole belief system falls apart.

And what does the Quran say, as the message of God to Muslims?
Quran 9:111:

Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.

No wiggle room. God has unambiguously commanded all Muslims to wage war "in the cause of Allah", to spread Islam until all submit to Islam. It is the price they must pay to be eligible to enter Paradise.

Like I said on the Islam thread:

Thanks, Enthetan! I was not aware that there is a separate Islam thread. I'll have to go check it out. Your writings above are helpful but I still don't answer some major questions which I have. My main question has to do with the Ten Commandments and in particular the commandment, "Though shall not murder." Of course this commandment as part of the Old Testament but I believe that it is also incorporated into the New Testament with a difference in translation that appears to be slight but turns out to be major. What appears in the new Testament, appears to be the translation, "Though shall not kill."

These two forms of allegedly the same commandment appear to many to be the same but they can be taken very, very differently. Of course a God would state, "Though shall not murder." but would be very unlikely to sstate, "Though shall not kill." This is so because in many instances the religions which contain a Supreme Diety, often are encouraged by their Diety to go to war against non believers so as to either defend themselves and/or glorify and promote their Diety, assumed to be the only true Diety.

I may be oversimplifying but it seems to me that peaceful Muslims adhere more to, "Though shall not murder." while the Extremist versions of Islam get around this restriction by using the more liberal statement of that commandment as stated in the New Testament.

The second part of my question, Enthetan, has to do with Islam, during its earlier stage, back in Omar Khayam's era around 900 AD when Islam was a cultural leader in such things as mathematics, architecture and poetry. At that time, before the Renaissance, Islam was far ahead of the Western World in culture and science. They also seemed to be peaceful at that time and allowed Christians and Jews to leave in their societies without killing them or trying to force them to convert to Islam. If the Koran promotes killing all non believers, how was Islam able to be ahead of Western society during that time period?

Are you suggesting that in Islam's early days, the apostates were in control of Islam but then were challenged by true Islamists. who eventually gained most of the power?

It is a mistake to assume that the Bible, either Old Testament or New testament, is part of Muslim scripture. It is not. The Scriptures upon which Islam is based consist of the Quran, the Hadith (collection of quotes from Mohammad), and the Sirat(biography of Mohammad)

Islam's "Golden Age" coincides with their age of conquest and expansion. It is a time when their upper classes have much wealth(loot from conquests) and thus have leisure time to discuss science, mathematics, and other subjects. Much of the math and science, though, comes from the conquered people. "Arabic numerals" for example, came from India, as did algebra. What the Muslims did was to merge a lot of Indian and Greek mathematics together.

When the Islamic expansion was finally stopped at the Battle of Vienna on September 11, 1683 (note the date), the Islamic world went into a long decline, from which it emerged only when oil was discovered in Arab lands.

As far as non-Muslims living among Muslims, yes, Christians and Jews were allowed to live in a status of "dhimmi"(protected person). While being allowed to live, the status of the dhimmi was lower than the status of a black man in 1910 Alabama. The dhimmi was subject to a special tax (jizya). He was forbidden to possess weapons or to strike a Muslim even in self defense (a dhimmi striking a Muslim could lead to reprisals against the whole dhimmi community). He could not testify in court against a Muslim. Lots of other restrictions.

As far as Islam being peaceful, the entire period from Islam's founding to the Battle of Vienna was a period of expansionist war.

So one big question remains. Is the God of Islam, Allah, the same God as that God portrayed in the Old and New Testaments. Must Westerners, with absolutely no formal education in Islam assume that such is the case. We are told in passing that both Jesus and Christ are honored as prophets in Islam so we figure that there must be some connection or continuity there. However, what you write in your last post, that neither the Old or New Testament is an official Holy Book of Isllam, seems to kill off an continuity between Islam and Jehova, the God of the Bible. Is this correct?

Think of it this way: Scientology came after psychiatry, and is held as a superior science of the mind, which replaces any need for psychiatry, which is corrupted and unworkable. Mohammad was sent by Allah to correct the corrupted "alter-ised" scriptures of the Jews and Christians.

Muslims are about as much encouraged to read the Bible, as Scientologists are to read Freud.

Regarding Jesus, he is mentioned in the Quran as a "prophet", but NOT as having any divine aspect to him.

As far as similarities between Allah and the God which Jesus speaks of, not much. Read the Quran (available online). When reading the Quran, it is necessary to keep in mind that it is not laid out in chronological order. The earlier surahs (from Mecca) are the peaceful ones, and the later ones (from when he fled to Medina) as the "jihad" ones. Chronological order of Medina verses. The later verses supersede the earlier ones.

The period after Mohammad was driven out of Mecca to Medina, is also the period where Mo supported himself as a desert bandit and caravan robber. List of expeditions of Mohammad.. This is a crucial datum. Jesus was a former carpenter to then went on to support himself through contributions from people who liked his preachings. Mohammad was a caravan robber, pedophile, rapist, and murderer. And yet his behavior must be seen by every Muslim as the example of the Perfect Muslim Man.

It's been such a long time so I might have got this wrong, but isn't 'figure-figure' actually thinking about something? I remember Hubbard gave 'thinking about things' a bad name. Maybe that was because if you thought long enough about it you might actually come to the realisation that Scientology was actually a crock of shit!

I just checked my Scientology Technical Dictionary and to my surprise Hubbard did not give a definition for "figure -figure". Therefore, we have to form our own definitions based upon how it was used when we were in C of S.

The way it was used when I was "in" which covers 2 years in the S.O. and 30 years as public is that it was a non productive form of thinking. It has the following vharacteristics:

While one is thinking, he or she is INTERIOR to the problem.
The thinking done is done SUBJECTIVELY and not objectively.
There is a GRINDING action where the subject matter is always gnawing at or grinding on one's mind.
The thinking is done COMPULSIVELY, a person will rant on and on, mentioning the problem repeatedly to friends and associates but no matter how much he mentions it the problem persists at full strength and shows no signs of abating.

The other major factor which I added on my own is that the subject matter being thought about has to do with difficulties with human relationships. Human thinking works just fine when solving math, puzzles, scientific problems or various logistical problems at work For some reason, the same type of thinking does not seem to work when a human being tries to unravel human interaction or social issues. Probably the reason this is true is because the person is able to solve general problems from an EXTERNAL point of view while he or she views personal problems from an INTERIOR POINT OF VIEW, being right inside the problem and being part of the problem himself or herself.

Someone just compiled it from the tapes and written stuff of Hubbard's.

Therefore everything in it is taken out of context and for a large part, seems to not make any sense without the help of some old timer like me, to put it into context.

Thanks, ILove2Lurk. Brilliant post!

Personally, one of my many disagreements in 1970, when I decided to leave Scn, was how so much of what was written and said by the old man had his spin put on it.

Purely Evaluative!

I'd had my fill of all the Eval and Inval by Hubbard, and "if you're not with us you're against us" quoting Yvonne who had me Comm Ev'ed in 1972.

Yvonne was a beautiful person and a good friend of mine even after that (Comm Ev found nothing 'out' and I was free), but the Trickle Down effect from the TOP seemed to warp even the very best of us at times.

I'm the old timer Lakey is referring to and here's the rest of the story:

When my husband Ira and I were at Saint Hill in 1967, the place was being over-run by Swedes. Hundreds of them arriving and flooding the place.

The HGC had only a handful of professional auditors, and there were interns as well but not nearly enough to handle the situation.

Especially with Hubbard hisself by then on the ship in South Hampton and the Sea Project just beginning and stealing the finest, most highly trained folks away from Saint Hill, the subject was catching on way too fast for them to continue to handle as before. Thus the unusual solution.

My twin on the Academy Levels was from Sweden: Tommy Klingval, who I adored. Being of Swedish blood myself, I was so thrilled to see this phenomenal explosion of wonderful young people arriving in dreary old England.

Someone recently, who was there at the same time with her husband getting trained at the College, said there was no possible way to audit all these folks on up the Bridge, so the Solo Auditor's Course came into being, etc.

I'd wager Saint Hill actually lost a lot of money, not being able to charge by the hour to audit everyone.

I loved the Solo Auditing idea.

As a young person, in the first wave of the Babyboomers, it really appealed to me to continue with my auditing independently.

IIRC, the original "Tech Dictionary" was overseen per an El Ron Order by the LRH Tech Compilations Unit on Flag and approved before publication by Hisself. Also, IIRC, the idea of compiling and publishing a Tech Dictionary was not El Ron's, it was first brought up by Ken Delderfield (whom I personally knew, interacted with and worked with on several Projects) who also a came up with the ideas--amongst a plethora of others--of the OEC, Tech, R&D Vols and the leather bound, gold leafed "Collectors Limited Edition" LRH Books and complete Libraries. Ken never claimed "source" for the idea...It came from his correspondences and conversations with Academy Course Sups around the world about tools that Pubs Org could provide that would speed and improve training. IMO, El Ron saw it as more than a training tool...A Tech Dictionary would be an instant and steady money making product accruing personal Copyright Royalties.

AFAIK, all subsequent iterations of the Tech Dictionary during Hisself's life were done by the LRH Tech Compilations Unit and approved by El Ron. Although the Comps Unit Personnel changed periodically during the the Apollo era--as with all things Flag--however, the Unit was always staffed with experienced, El Ron personally approved Class VIII's, VII's, VI's, IV's, XDN's all Flag Interned and many of whom had been original SHSBC Grads.

WOW! Terrific Stuff, as usual, cakemaker...You're the BESTEST!:clap::yes:

I personally knew most all of the Folks involved. I'd forgotten the name "LRH Personal Compilations Bureau" of which the "LRH Tech Compilations Unit" was part of.

Pat Brice was a very skilled editor and highly trained/experienced Scn and spent many years on the Apollo editing compilations of El Ron stuff--Red and Green Tech. Alethia Taylor was a world class professional who served as El Ron's Personal Secretary for many of the Apollo Era years--which is quite remarkable (she could take perfect shorthand dictation faster than El Ron could talk, type error free over 100 wpm and organize files/data beyond belief--all before computers). Ernie Ryan was a polished, well trained feller and meticulous supervisor. John Eastment and David Mayo were El Ron personally trained Class XII C/S's and original SHSBC Grads and all of the compilers/researchers were Tech Trained.

Edit PPS: The size and qualifications/certifications/background/expertise of the personnel compliment of the the Compilations Bureau would ebb and flow depending upon the extant El Ron Orders for Projects that had to be completed by certain deadlines ("Time Machines"). Depending on the nature, urgency and complexity of the El Ron Order nearly any Flag Crew Member could be "ripped off"--sometimes literally over night--to "LRH Comps" and, on occasion, from outer Flag Operations/Continental Liaison Offices and even, though rarely, from SO Service Orgs for assignments of anywhere from a month or so to sometimes as much as nearly year or possibly even more in "LRH Comps".

PPS: Kingsport Press, Inc. was a Boutique, ultra high quality Printing House in Tennessee that Delderfield (Deld) found during his "LRH Mission" to locate a Printing House that would do El Ron's stuff to Hisself's satisfaction and, honestly, (in sort of a Power of Source Album Redux) put up with Hisself's utterly inane BS. As best I recall, Kingsport wound up with the virtually all of the Cof$ business in the latter '70's for the OEC Vol's, Tech Vol's, R&D Vol's, "Collector's Editions", etc.

Re: More on my Healing Experiment

Hubbard didn't make up the Tech Dictionary, as far as I know, Lakey.

Someone just compiled it from the tapes and written stuff of Hubbard's.

Therefore everything in it is taken out of context and for a large part, seems to not make any sense without the help of some old timer like me, to put it into context.

So, it's not really a dictionary at all, but a BOOK OF QUOTES by Hubbard, compiled by an unknown author...

thanks for that, makes sense and adds a whole new wonderful enlightening meaning to those many definitions, such as the several given for "clear" which are 12 definitions. And the definitions for Operating Thetan are 7, in my tech dictionary of 1981 latest edition.

I guess what I'm trying to say, the book of quotes confirms the ever changing definitions of clear & ot,

and afterall, the whole purpose of dianetics was to clear and create ot's.

what a crock of shit from the get go, namely DMSMH. :roflmao::roflmao:

And the book of quotes actually confirm Hellvahoax's hubbards law of commotion. I'm :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:.

Nowadays, don't know if you know this Purple Haze, but the DM COS turned a floating needle into must have 3 swings of the needle. More commotion. LOL

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I don't see anything negative in the fact that LRH defined the term "Clear" one way in DMSMH and then over the years, he redefined the definition over two dozen times. He claimed that DMSMH was a science on a par with Human sciences such as physics and chemistry. I don't believe that to be true but nevertheless, human sciences evolve over the years, often over the centuries. When this happens, some use the term "A Living Science" to describe how a particular science may change.

In the science of Physics, one of the principle equations which Newton gave was that F = M times A (Force equals Mass times Acceleration). This principle held up unchallenged for about 200 years until Einstein came along with his Theory of Special Relativity in 1879. In Einstein's theory, the Mass component was not a constant as Newton had assumed. In Einstein's theory, Mass varies in proportion to the Mass's velocity as it relates to the velocity of light. Therefore, the equation, F = M times A, has to be adjusted to account for the effects of relativity on the Mass. Of course, in our everyday world, things travel so slowly as compared to light, at about 186,000 miles per second, that the adjustment to mass is not measurable and so for practical purposes, here on Earth, Newton's equation works fine. However as regards nuclear studies and the traversing of outer space studies, Einstein's modification must be applied to preserve workability..

Something that worked well for not two hundred years but for over 2,000 years, was Euclid's Axiom that parallel lines never meet. To Euclid, this was an axiom, a self evident truth! A problem existed but it was impossible for anyone of Euclid's time to know it. It took Einstein's theory to reveal that problem. Again, due to relativity, Einstein, in his study of gravity concluded that space had to be curved. The presence of large masses, such as stars, would create an effect similar to that of forcing space to curve. In other words, Einstein suggested that gravitational attraction did not occur because of some mysterious property of matter such that all particles of matter somehow tended to draw other particles of matter in towards them. Instead, a more accurate description was that the presence of matter in space, warps the space so that it seems to curve in such a manner that it draws other matter into it.. This phenomena is what causes gravity to seem to act as if every piece of matter is attracted to every other piece. While that attraction does exist, Einstein is saying it is caused by a bending or warp of space rather than by an attractive force inherent in all particles of matter.

If someone accepts that premise, then another issue arises. Space contains 3 dimensions, if it is bent or warped, where can the space bend into. It is this phenomena which led to the concept of their being more than 3 dimensions.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Hubbard did not err in defining Clear and OT one way initially and then continuing to redefine them over the years. Doing this is in line with Scientific principles as used by Euclid, Newton and Einstein among an illustrious list of other great Scientists and Mathematicians. Where Hubbard DID screw up is in ASSERTING that only he was capable of developing and/ or modifying DIanetics and Scientology tech.

Because of this enormous blunder of LRH's, or maybe he did it on purposes to satisfy his ego. Hubbard took a subject essentially developed in the 1940's, 50's and 60's and decreed that it was workable and set in stone. Some further development did occur in the 70's and early 80's but essentially, the major body of the subject is 1960's tech. Here we are in 2015 and and 1960's tech is "horse and buggy" to young people, college students and young professionals.

I almost feel pity for the burden this has placed on DM! He is saddled with pushing 1960's tech, 50 years later in an age of Computers and high technology. DM is limited to repackaging the 60's stuff in more modern clothing and then ordering all his parishioners to repurchase it in droves, each person paying for dozens of sets of 1960's tech only to have those updated materials be repackaged again 10 or 15 years later and then being ordered to repurchase them again in even more modern clothing.

As far fetched as it might sound, DM's best bet would be that LRH is now a young adult on Earth in a new body, and is back on post and is working on a project to update his tech to 2015 standards. Such an event would be very interesting but I doubt if it would ever happen because if it did, DM would have to relegate himself to be only second in command and he is not likely to ever do that.
