What happened to OCMB?

Well, if you did want the board to go on, and you found someone bipartisan/not involved(as in ever, who has not even been a scientologist or an anti) to moderate the board, could the donations not be set up so that they are completely anonymous? Maybe a bit late to think like that but my mind normally revolves around solving problems.
Coincidently, a person who does not post on the board, who has zero involvement with the "leaders" of our community, and who doesn't give a shit how I moderate, has offered financial support.

I need to think about it.

That would be awesome, In my mind - but you did say you want to walk away from it, wouldn't it be easier if you owned it, but didn't have to moderate?

Who are these leaders? I know which people are popular but that's a very different thing.

I'm not trying to be difficult and I'm pretty sure you know that but in order to uphold my own integrity I need to ask about things occasionally that seem inaccurate or wrong to me without fear of being seen as a troublemaker or worse (though I did tell you I was trouble from day one, just to make things crystal clear).

I'm not sure I could put anyone else through it. I really don't know. I've rediscovered my "fuck you" attitude that has been missing for years. I'm not sure there will be an ESMB worth posting to once word gets around that I'm criticising those who should not be. I'm pretty sure I'm gunna get trashed

Just Karen. I never heard a peep from Marty or Mike.
But Marty and Mike give kind of a warning with this:

"Karen is an empire builder; she excels at acquiring territory and turf. She is a true friend to LRH and a legend from the early years of the Sea Org. Today, she is a very successful and influential businesswoman, internationally recognized as a leading expert in her field. We consider Karen one of our dearest friends and a highly valuable player in the Independence movement. "

Yes, I know you are trouble, you were from the start and you have been ever since.

Leaders, ok....Mike Rinder, Tony Ortega, Karen De La Carriere, Jeffrey Augustine, Aaron Smith-Levin, Chris Shelton, Marc Headley. All opinion leaders. All have a big followings/loyal fan base/loyal Facebook members.

Am I wrong?

Why not? Isn't that the best way to say "fuck you" to someone after all?

I'm pretty shure you're wrong there. I mean yeah, I won't post much anymore, for the same reason most people stop posting - I'm over Scientology and have my focus elsewhere - but there is always a good reason why people keep discovering ESMB and coming back to it. I mean it survived so many great people leaving due to drama already. Nexus, Uniquemand, Zinji and Claire to name a few. So now HH is gone too, sad but that's the way of most boards where you have strong opinionated persons.

Either way, getting trashed for sticking up for once beliefs is a good way to go, if that is what's in the cards! I'll sit her cheering you on all the way! :D

On the contrary, I think having a ballsy admin who's her own person will generate a lot of additional respect.

Oh, OK I thought you meant specifically here (ESMB). I have made a point of not going near FB.

None of them are my opinion leaders ... not even close, but I suppose a few of them are visible and noisy (for want of a better way of saying it).

Do many exes really have ex-cult opinion leaders though, truly?

You'd be surprised.

Honestly? I think so, yes. There's a reason being an"influencer" are a new way of making a career on social networks.

I have/had a lot of respect for certain people in our "community" - same as most people. I can be influenced. No shame in admitting that. Marc Headley is one of those I still have a lot of respect for, for instance.

On the contrary, I think having a ballsy admin who's her own person will generate a lot of respect.

My opinion mirrors Pauls.

And they all run <deleted> properties that heavily control what you can say and what you can't say, what questions you can ask and what questions you can't ask.

It's weird. Back in 2007 no one got paid for being a "leader". Now it's google ads, Youtube ads, clicks. The stories were told for free. No one had a monopoly. No secret groups.

There is good and bad in the expansion of the anti scientology media machine. More exposure but it comes at a price. You aren't just hurting a person's feelings when you criticise them now. You are hurting their business.

Not really true though, people were making monies off ex Scientologists and their stories back then, as well as now. Media made monies off them stories back then. Whoever wrote a book had a chance to do so. I see the difference you're pointing at though, but that was always poised to change.

Not saying its a good thing, but not necessarily a bad thing. People should be able to make money off the internet. Even as influencers. I mean imagine if Tory could've made some bucks off the videos she used to post on youtube back in the days, that would have been awesome.

Stand. Wow
I still have no clue what this means. But I did notice I got moderated. Holy fuck! Is this where I need to start huffing and puffing and explode? Leave the forum in an explosion of misery and blame?

Nah.

The downside of being paid for being a social media "star", is you become the property of whoever decides whether you get paid. Voice the "wrong" viewpoint, and you get de-monetized.
